What if your greatest obstacle is actually your greatest qualification? This week, Jon Goehring and Coach Jim Johnson welcome Diana Fritz, dynamic executive leader, cancer thriver, Maxwell Leadership certified coach, and author of Uniquely Imperfect, Uniquely Qualified, for one of the most moving and genuinely inspiring conversations the Lounge has ever had.Diana opens with a story about her grandmother that sets the tone for everything that follows. A woman who chose joy no matter what life brought her, who could make anyone feel seen and loved, and whose smile Diana has made it her life's mission to carry forward. From there she shares what her first basketball coach taught her about mental toughness, accountability, and the kind of teamwork that shows up in a boardroom just as powerfully as it does on a court. The conversation shifts into Diana's cancer diagnosis, which arrived 12 years ago, thirty days into the year she turned forty, right in the middle of a separation, an executive role, and single motherhood. What she did with that news is a masterclass in proactive leadership. Drawing on Viktor Frankl and Stephen Covey, two books she was assigned in college and never forgot, Diana made a decision that her cancer would refine her rather than define her, and has been living that out every day since.Jon and Coach dig into the practical tools Diana uses to lead herself before leading anyone else, including her daily five AM reflection practice, her journaling habits built over decades, and the way she uses gratitude not as a buzzword but as a daily discipline that keeps her anchored when everything around her is uncertain.Diana also shares a masterclass on DISC, breaking down all four personality styles and explaining how understanding them transformed her relationships with the high D personalities who used to frustrate her most, and how she now uses DISC workshops to help entire organizations appreciate what makes each person different rather than fight about it.The episode closes with a powerful message for anyone who thinks they have nothing unique to offer. Diana makes the case that every scar, every struggle, and every obstacle you are working through right now is uniquely qualifying you to reach someone else who needs exactly what you have learned. And one person, she reminds us, is always enough to make it worth it.Whether you are leading through your own hard season, trying to build a team that truly works together, or just need a reminder that joy is always a choice even when circumstances are not, this episode will stay with you long after it ends.Connect with Diana: grituiuq.comGrab Uniquely Imperfect, Uniquely Qualified on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Uniquely-Imperfect-Qualified-Adversity-Imperfection/dp/1636804306Connect with Diana on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/diana-fritz-b032064/

Most leaders are trained to have answers. Warren Berger believes the better leadership skill is learning how to ask the right questions. In Episode 21 of Everything They Don't Tell You, Josh Zolin sits down with Warren Berger, author of The Book of Beautiful Questions and A More Beautiful Question, to talk about the underestimated power of questioning in leadership, business, creativity, and life. Warren explains why questions are not just conversation tools. They are leadership tools. The right question can open someone up, reveal bottlenecks, challenge assumptions, and bring people into the mission. The wrong question can shut people down, create defensiveness, and turn a conversation into an interrogation. This episode covers curiosity, humility, listening, follow-up questions, mission questions, the "question sandwich," and why leaders need to stop treating answers as the only currency that matters. If you lead a team, run a business, manage people, or want to communicate with more clarity and depth, this episode will challenge the way you think about leadership. __ ► Download Your 90 Day ROI Playbook — A value packed free guide created by Josh Zolin that teaches you how to Multiply Your Profits with the Skills No One Trains  https://bitnw.academy/roiplaybook

Send us Fan MailThe fastest way to grow your confidence isn't pretending you're good at everything. It's getting honest about what you're not great at without turning it into a character flaw. Today we dig into “knowing your weaknesses” through a mindfulness lens: awareness without judgment, real self-awareness, and the kind of leadership that can see people clearly and place them where they shine.I share why this matters so much in real life, especially when you're stepping into a new level at work or leading a team. That classic job interview question “What are your weaknesses?” can either feel like a trap or become a secret weapon, depending on how well you know yourself. We talk about what weak answers sound like, what strong answers sound like, and why honest clarity beats polished perfection every time. You'll also get concrete ways to identify your weaknesses with care: journaling what you struggle with, asking someone you trust for outside perspective, and tracking a habit or goal to see where you get stuck. From there, we go one step deeper: deciding what to work on, what to delegate, and how to use self-love as the filter. If improving a skill brings you closer to your best self, do it. If delegating gets you there faster, that's wisdom too.Book mentioned: Graziosi, Dean. Millionaire Success Habits: The Gateway to Wealth & Prosperity. Most leaders know they should be more approachable and develop trust, but nobody tells you that humor might be the fastest way to get there. In this episode, Dr. Mira Brancu sits down with Dr. Paul Damiano, executive coach and creator of "Funny Business," a methodology using cartoons and humor to deepen awareness in leaders worldwide, to talk about something most leadership conversations skip entirely: how humor actually works as a leadership tool. Not stand-up comedy, not being the funny person in the room, but using levity and perspective to build trust, disarm tension, and get to the truth faster.Paul shares how he uses cartoons as a projective coaching technique with executives to surface what is really going on beneath the surface, and Mira goes through the exercise herself on camera to demonstrate the practice. What you see is a leader who is deeply self-aware, using a simple tool to sharpen that awareness even further.Whether you lead a small team or a room of 100, Paul makes a compelling case that humor is not just a nice-to-have. It is one of the most underused and disproportionately powerful tools a leader can develop.Subscribe for weekly conversations on leadership, mental health, and the real skills that make great leaders.Learn more about Dr. Paul Damiano at:www.creategoodworks.comwww.linkedin.com/in/pauldamianoIF YOU ENJOYED THIS EPISODE, CAN I ASK A FAVOR?We do not receive any funding or sponsorship for this podcast. Join this sermon as the preacher explores Hebrews 3, using a hiker's story to warn against unbelief and hardened hearts. Discover three reasons Jesus is better than the wilderness: He is the true guiding voice, builds a sustaining community, and leads us into the promised rest. Be challenged to listen to God today, encourage one another, and hold firm in faith as you follow Jesus toward the rest he prepares. -- “Better Than Our Wilderness” Hebrews 3:6–19 Main Idea: Jesus is better than our wilderness—and He alone can lead us into the rest God always intended. Introduction: The Lost Hiker   Jesus is the Better Voice in the wilderness (vv. 6–11) Israel heard God's voice in the wilderness but hardened their hearts. Israel resisted God even after seeing His works for forty years. Israel's unbelief kept them from rest. Jesus offers the true rest they never entered. Listen to the Better Voice. Respond today and trust His way.   Jesus builds a better community for the journey (vv. 12–14) Jesus forms a community that helps one another persevere. The warning: unbelief can “trip you up” and divert you from the living God. The command: “encourage one another” while it's still Today. The promise: if we hold firm, we show we truly belong to Christ. We are better together. Guard one another and persevere as partners.   Jesus leads to a better rest than the wilderness ever could (vv. 15–19) Israel experienced deliverance but not destination. Israel died in the wilderness because they wouldn't listen. They saw miracles but never entered rest because they never Jesus doesn't just deliver us—He brings us all the way home. Don't repeat Israel's story. Follow the Better Leader and enter the better rest Conclusion If we listen to Jesus' voice Today, He will bring us safely into the rest the wilderness could never give. -- Find other Podcasts, Sermon Notes and the Bulletin here. https://www.mvcnaz.org/live Stay in touch with our Church Center App at https://www.mvcnaz.org/churchcenter Contact us through our CONNECT form at https://www.mvcnaz.org/connect   With Pastor Mike Curry.

Successful, But Unfulfilled: Corrie's Leadership Turning Point Are you a successful, but unfulfilled, leader?  Corrie wasn't burned out or failing, but she was unfulfilled, questioning herself, and missing the spark that once made her work feel meaningful. This is the story of how one woman stopped trying to "push through" and started realigning how she worked, led, and carried responsibility. Fulfillment doesn't require walking away from success. Sometimes, it requires learning how to lead and work differently from the inside out. In this episode, Blake helps unpack a real leadership success story. Corrie was successful by every external measure—strong leader, solid career, flexibility, income, and trust. And yet, she felt drained, disengaged, and quietly questioning herself.  You'll hear why successful leaders feel unfulfilled at work and how she found leadership fulfillment without changing jobs. Instead, she found clarity, gained energy, and reignited the spark that once made her work meaningful.   Episode Highlights The Hidden Struggle of Successful Leaders [01:55] - Dreading getting out of bed despite driving results [03:20] - When job searching becomes a cycle of rejection [04:38] - The belief that "this is just how it is" once you climb the ladder When Job Changes Don't Fix the Problem [16:49] - How constant rejection erodes confidence [18:50] - Missing the signs to stop and ask "What am I missing?" [20:10] - The frustration of wanting results now vs. reflection The Perspective Shift That Changed Everything [25:01] - Realizing misalignment was the real problem [27:04] - Understanding what truly motivates you beyond revenue [30:34] - Taking back your power from external circumstances Becoming a Better Leader by Carrying Less [44:37] - Getting the same results in fewer hours by working differently [48:41] - Learning you have more control than you thought Fulfillment Without Sacrificing Career or Family [50:46] - Moving from personal to seeing the bigger picture [53:26] - Shifting from desperation mode to empowered [55:51] - Why the journey was worth it   Powerful Quotes " I kept thinking I'm okay. And then I got to a point where I just wasn't happy anymore. I wasn't excited to go to work. I wasn't excited about, you know, those results I was driving. I was just dreading getting out of bed. And it was more than just like depression or anything like that. It was like, I really had nothing to look forward to.  And I just noticed it was impacting my life, my relationships. And I'm like, I need to make a change." -Corrie  "I didn't realize that you can be happy in your career once you climb the ladder, but this whole process has really just opened up my eyes. And not just in my career, but like in life in general with my family and my friends and hobbies and everything." -Corrie  "It's okay to ask for help. I was always the person who had the answers. So when it came to the point where I needed help, I didn't even know what to do or where to turn." -Corrie  "The only way we really can truly create change is to understand what we need and how we can be empowered to create that change for ourselves." -Blake Schofield "Your career is not in your manager's hands. It's in your hands. You have control of this." -Corrie      Resources Mentioned Drained at the end of the day & want more presence in your life? Technology has always been a double-edged sword. As the workplace and culture shift, we as humans are seeing more collaboration, access, and the ability to communicate across borders. But, it's also leading us to more stress, anxiety, depression, and social isolation. Those dopamine hits are no joke! This all impacts how we need leaders to show up and lead. We have to upskill our leaders for more connection, conversation, and collaboration. AI will be taking over a lot of the drudgery, so leadership now looks different from what it did 20 or 30 years ago. And for some leaders, there is a big skill gap between intent and impact. Something my guest today calls the Awkward Zone as she helps leaders to Own the Awkward.Today, Jen Marr shares the three forces behind our fundamental workplace shifts and how this has changed the role of leaders. She talks about that Awkward Zone and how to navigate through it. She shares the Barbell concept, necessary to build up healthy, productive employees. We have an interesting discussion about time - how leaders track it, spend it, and can find more ways to spend it on their people rather than on useless tasks. And Jen shares what may finally shake us up from the unhealthy ways tech has taken over our lives at the cost of real connection, and what that flashpoint might be for us. Becoming a better leader is rarely about learning something new. It is almost always about facing something true. The moment when the tactics stop working and the truth steps in. The truth that wisdom hurts before it helps. The truth that kindness is harder than control. The truth that curiosity asks you to open your heart, not just your mind. In this conversation with Christy Pretzinger, we peel leadership back to its most human layers. The messy ones. The vulnerable ones. The ones that force you to ask, Am I showing up in a way that reflects who I want to be? If you crave leadership that feels honest and brave and deeply connected to the person you are becoming, this episode will stay with you. About My Guest Christy Pretzinger is the founder and CEO of WG Content, a nationally recognized healthcare content consultancy serving major hospital systems across the country. Her proudest accomplishment is the culture she has built on four core values: empowered, curious, kind, and fun. She is also the creator of The Better Leader Project, a cohort-based experience designed to help early-career professionals practice the power skills of leadership. Christy is the author of Your Cultural Balance Sheet, a thoughtful framework for turning cultural liabilities into assets. What We Cover • Building a business on kindness without sacrificing excellence • Why authenticity requires responsibility and emotional maturity • How simple, clear values shape decisions, behaviors, and daily interactions • Using the Enneagram to understand pace, intensity, and interpersonal impact • Curiosity as a leadership superpower that strengthens connection and innovation • The challenges and strengths of Gen Z as they enter the workforce • Why wisdom cannot be hacked, downloaded, or rushed Key Takeaways 1. Kindness is a strategy. When values are lived and reinforced, they shape culture and performance. 2. Authenticity is not an excuse. Honesty without awareness can create harm. Responsible authenticity builds trust. 3. Self-knowledge changes everything. Tools like the Enneagram help leaders moderate reactivity and create space for others to thrive. 4. Curiosity builds connection. When you ask deeper questions, you create deeper relationships and uncover better solutions. 5. Better is always available. Leadership is a practice. We improve through reflection, repetition, and the courage to face ourselves honestly. Mic Drop Moments • “There is no app for wisdom. You have to earn it over time.” • “Better, not perfect. Everyone has a better quotient they can access.” • “Authenticity without responsibility is not leadership.” • “Cultural liabilities can become assets when you pay attention and choose to change.” • “We are hardwired for community. Leadership practice needs real people, real feedback, real reps.” Connect with Christy Why This Conversation Matters Leadership is not about perfection. It is about awareness, courage, and evolution. This conversation with Christy offers a grounded and inspiring look at how to create cultures where people can thrive and how to become the kind of leader others trust, follow, and feel safe with. Ever made a call at work that backfired — big time?Rob Hahn, now COO at Pattern, knows exactly what that feels like.Early in his career as a young leader at Amazon, he faced a decision no leader ever forgets. At just 26 and leading thousands of people, a severe weather warning hit.He made the call to shut everything down. The storm never came. And the decision cost the company millions. But instead of hiding from it, Rob leaned in.He owned it. He learned from it.And that moment became the foundation for how he leads under pressure today. When we talked on Lead the Team, I was struck by how deeply that one experience reshaped his leadership philosophy.Rob shares how turning failure into fuel helped him rise to one of the top roles in a company that just completed a multi-billion-dollar IPO — and how you can do the same.If you've ever carried the weight of a bad call or a decision that didn't go as planned, this conversation will help you see it differently — and lead stronger because of it.-----Follow Rob on LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/in/rob-hahn-12136736/-----Connect with the Host, #1 bestselling author Ben FanningSpeaking and Training inquiresSubscribe to my Youtube channelLinkedInInstagramTwitter

Worldschooling our kids hasn't started off quite like we had planned. Making our way over to Barcelona, where I'm recording this episode, has been eventful. It's been a reminder that you can't anticipate everything, and there are some experiences you just have to live through and get to the other side. I'm sharing the 10 lessons of leadership I have learned on this trip so far in this episode, and how those lessons have been reflected during real-life experiences with my family. In this episode, you will learn about: How our energy sets the tone for our experiences (especially with kids). How our first flight got cancelled and everything that happened next. The #1 trait of a great leader (including moms as a family leader). What I very quickly realized I had to give up on during this trip. Why you don't need to be a perfect leader to be one worth following. What we teach others in our true moments of vulnerability. What handling difficult moments with our kids taught me about leadership. Why authority and vulnerability are complementary to each other. Get 10% off your Sage Haus House Manager today! What if productivity isn't about doing more—but doing less, with purpose? In this solo episode of The Legendary Leaders Podcast, host Cathleen O'Sullivan challenges one of leadership's biggest myths: that constant hustle equals success.    Drawing from her own journey and stories from the leaders she's coached, Cathleen exposes the "productivity lie" that glorifies busyness and burnout. She reveals why intentionality—not intensity—is what truly sets great leaders apart, and how creating space to think, rest, and reflect can actually amplify your impact.    From practical tools like the "stop doing list" and the one-minute pause, to mindset shifts that turn overwhelm into clarity, this episode is a masterclass in reclaiming your energy and leading with purpose. It's your permission slip to slow down, focus, and lead on your terms.     Episode Timeline:   00:00 Introduction and welcome back to The Legendary Leaders Podcast 00:45 The productivity myth: being busy means you're a better leader 01:59 The cultural addiction to busyness and confusing motion with progress 03:24 Why great leaders are intentional—not overworked 06:57 Client stories: breaking the busy habit and rediscovering focus 08:22 Practical tools to break the busy cycle 13:19 Delegating with purpose and empowering your team to grow 14:47 Escaping the busy trap and retraining others' expectations 15:33 Redefining productivity: protecting your energy like gold 16:01 Weekly challenge: cancel one non-essential meeting and make space to think 16:35 Closing reflections and invitation to lead on your terms     Key Takeaway:   The Productivity Lie: Cathleen challenges the belief that great leadership means doing more, showing how intentional focus creates greater impact than endless activity. Redefining Worth: Your value isn't measured by hours worked or meetings attended—true leadership is about clarity, direction, and energy. Breaking the Busy Cycle: Tools like the "stop doing" list, one-minute pause, and weekly calendar audit help leaders reclaim time for what truly matters. Delegation with Purpose: Letting go isn't about dumping tasks—it's about growing others, building trust, and creating space to lead strategically. Modeling Healthy Leadership: By slowing down, setting boundaries, and protecting your energy, you model balance and focus for your team. Lead with Intention: Doing less isn't laziness—it's leadership with purpose, giving you and your team room to think, create, and thrive.       Connect with Cathleen O'Sullivan:  Business: https://cathleenosullivan.com/  LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/cathleen-osullivan/  Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/legendary_leaders_cathleenos/      FOLLOW LEGENDARY LEADERS ON APPLE, SPOTIFY OR WHEREVER YOU LISTEN TO YOUR PODCASTS
