This is the last show with me as the host as I will be stepping down to relinquish control of the station to the original owners to give me an opportunity to work on other projects. I would love to hear from you all. Please stop through and show your support as you see fit. Thank you again. I love you all, Peace and blessings.
The fallout. It goes without saying that this past week has been rather tumultuous with regard to race and the tensions between the races as well as authority figures. I have a lot to say and I will be honest, a lot has changed and will change for me, you, the show, the future, and beyond. You will won't to speak on these things. In the light of recent events, I want to give you an opportunity to vent. I want to hear your opinion about anything. About everything.
We are facing the verge of a riot in this country. We need to start planning what we do next. In this show, I want to work toward a resolve. What can we do to fix the break in the chain. Are the law makers listening? What do we do now?
"Lang Karenga from Baltimore" is how he humbly introduces himself but he is a force on the microphone with power words of edification. There is so much to say and tell. July 4th, Alton Sterling, Jesse Williams... Where do we start?
Adrienne Charleston decided at the age of 25 that she wanted to help people reach their full potential. At that time, she found herself 7 years into the military as a Legal Specialist and some years left on her obligation. So, she made a plan. This plan took years to come to fruition, but she never gave up and kept moving forward despite the speedbumps life placed in her way. Adrienne completed that active duty obligation and then some. She then joined the Army Reserve as a Mental Health Specialist. While in the Reserves, she was working toward Military Retirement and on her degrees. Adrienne went back to her home town and attended Fayetteville State University. She graduated with honors with a BS is Psychology and a minor in Criminal Justice. Adrienne then attended North Carolina Central University where she received her Master’s in Psychology. She retired from the military before graduating with her Master’s. Adrienne then tested and became a Licensed Psychological Associate and began practicing Psychology in the state of North Carolina. She has extensive experience working with those coping with serious mental disorders, and individuals who are just trying to find a way to better navigate life’s challenges. http://www.adrienne-charleston.com
For the artist known as D.S Williams, writing has always been a form of expression, a way to educate, or a means to escape. Be it through his skill as an MC, his ability as a poet, or serving as the voice of the jettisoned, through his blog Cognegro's Corner, he has realized the power of the spoken and non spoken word! With over 15 years of writing and performing to his credit, D.S has concluded that he has only arrived at the tipping point of his journey. Already with two projects under his belt, the critically acclaimed, debut album "Strength in Letters" and the recent collaborative effort entitled "Mirrorz Edge", D.S Williams is out to continue to amaze his listeners with his inward rhyme schemes, adroit wordplay, and gesticulated performances! Never one to rest on his laurels, DS is currently knee deep in the creative process as he prepares to release his next musical project, "While Your Waiting", as well as his highly anticipated collection of poetry entitled "..................".DS is now primed once again to deliver a palatable “eargasm” to the soul or a jolting experience that makes his listeners uneasy. Either reaction is fine by him!
K.W. The Artisan is the co founder of www.higherupsuniversity.com. Founded in 2013, The Higher-Ups University was created ?to instill the importance of creativity and individuality. We come together for the purpose of creating something new and familiar. We strive to put forth our best effort into the products that we make. The appreciation for art has deteriorated within our culture. Our mission is to bring forth the self-expression that has been missing. We realize that this mission is bigger than any one person. For that, we join forces in order to complete this goal. The Higher-Ups University is expanding day by day and openly invites new members to experience The High Life.
WKPJB Radio was all about poetry. It is how I got started. I was just an open mic participant one time and then became a host. I do my best never to forget that part of the show. So let's just chat. How have you been? What is new with you? How is life treating you? Let's talk and spit bars... are you with me?!?!? We will run the show for the standard time unless we just don't have enough on the line. So join us!
The Warrior's Way. It is not understood by many but for the few that know, it is a hard tread road. With the completion of the WKA USA National Championships in New York, The Kai Thai Academy of Wilson, NC Kru Bishop has trained several fighters to represent and they did. We will speak with them again as they give their personal account of how things are in the arena, the chaos, the excitement and victories. If you are not a fighter in a ring, that does not mean you are not a warrior. If you have ever fought for something, anything, you are a warrior! Those who enter any arena of competition with others or with themselves, are warriors. So please join us on WKPJB Radio as we speak to warriors of all types! You do NOT want to miss this show! For a little background, The World Kickboxing Association enjoys great success at all levels on a global scale. It has representatives in more than 90 countries and regularly holds competitions, culminating once a year in the WKA World Championships, which involves all the amateur martial arts disciplines and styles under one set competition format. This year, it was held in New York for the first time and Team KaiThai went in force to represent not only North Carolina but also the martial arts as a whole.
Bearing my insecurities is an ongoing project by Chamber 7. It is a personal account of the hidden journey men take to understanding themselves. They are often criticized for the process but few know what that process is. We will ask several men how they feel about certain stereotypes and situations they have personally been faced with. What are your questions? What do you have to ask of men of valor?
The Warrior's Way. It is not understood by many but for the few that know, it is a hard tread road. With the Upcoming Event - 5/19-22/16 - WKA USA National Championships in New York, The Kai Thai Academy of Wilson, NC Kru Bishop has trained several fighters to represent. We will speak with them and interview those who attend the gym to hear the real world account of those who train, those who fight, those who coach and those who are interested to understand the path of a fighter. Please join us on WKPJB Radio.
Back to Basix Open mic is going to be a celebration of the wonderful worx of art that these poets possess. We will return to the art of allowing everyone a chance to speak freely. Bring a piece or come to get peace. We are all here to feel comfortable and share. If you just need to talk, or express yourself in other ways, this is the time and place to do it... I thank you all for taking this journey with us... It is about to get crazy!
WKPJB Radio Presents a rather WICKED open mic with your hosts Chamber7 and BluPhunk! We have been choosing subjects for you and tonight I wanted to give everyone a chance to speak their mind. We will start with a subject and if you press one to speak you can either choose to speak on the topic, choose a new topic or revisit a previous topic... I just want to chat with you for a moment. Have some fun. People don't really openly just have conversation. They argue or they are expected to always agree. Well here, you can have an opinion and we can agre to disagree because that is ok. I hope we can answer all of your questions... and spark new ones with the answers! LET'S GO!
This will be a special show. We will start with a feature and end with a discussion for the first time ever. Our feature this evening will be Walday! He has recently released his single and we here at blogtalkradio wish to offer him the opportunity to voice his words of wisdom tonight. Then we will will conclude the evening with our discussion on the HB2 ruling in NC. No... The feature and the subject of our discussion are NOT related... We just want to have the open forum of discussion that we promised our listeners. Please join us as we take another ride with the brothas of WKPJB Radio
Haven't done an erotic show in quite some time so dust off your notebooks and bring your latest and greatest as we interview Karmel Poet. With the recent release of her book, we will have an interview with the one and only Karmel Poet! It has been quite some time and would be nice to catch to see how things have been.
What are you passionate about? What keeps you awake at night? What is the one thing you have found yourself doing, thinking about or planning for so much that you lose track of time? What keeps you going? That is your passion. Your desire. Your drive. Your purpose. Today we will discuss the power of passion and how it affects us. How it drives us and what you can do to be a part of it. If you have not seen the movie Batman vs Superman and you intend to, DO NOT listen to this show. If you have, you NEED TO listen to this show.
Well... technical difficulties aside, we had a great show... We are going to do it again. We are going to DO IT AGAIN!!! Did you miss us? Been a while. I will be honest... I was strongly considering not coming back. It has been a hard year... and it just started. However, I have been made aware that we have a purpose. We are here to give you a voice and we have been silent for too long. We have a few concepts we wish to share but this first show will begin with the controversy of a recent meme that I saw regarding a television show. I asked for the thoughts of the listeners... I got them... Boy did I get them. Well, now I want to have an open discussion about it. So all those opinionated folks, where you at? Chamber 7 & Blu Phunk are back... We have a new plan of attack... We still do poetry up in here so don't forget to bring that. Nevertheless, we will stress the importance of progress so come with your best or you might get embarassed... Just saying

Cultural appropriation is a sociological concept which views the adoption or use of elements of one culture by members of a different culture as a largely negative phenomenon. What is it about and how can we avoid it. I think it is time we discuss this at length. If you’re Katy Perry, for example, you believe it’s A-OK to don corn rows and gel down your baby hair, put on some long fingernails and so-called sassy mannerisms with a “blaccent” and slang to portray how you believe certain black women behave and speak. But when you do it, as a white artist, you perpetuate a long legacy of white cultural theft—in addition to bypassing all the racist and misogynist insults those black women must contend with on a daily basis. That includes being called “ghetto” by white (and other) people, typecast as a welfare queen or otherwise told that your natural hairstyles and expressions are inferior and unwelcome. These are symptomatic of slavery and segregation in America and, yes, this really still happens every day. And it’s cultural appropriation. As writer Tamara Winfrey Harris expertly notes over at Racialicious, it’s the oppression that causes the intense offense that many people—mainly white people—seek to explain away rather than critically question.
Making the decision to have children can be a daunting task. On average it costs nearly a quarter of a million dollars to raise a child. Some people don't want the responsibility. Others can't live without their children. On this show we will weigh the options and discuss the pro's and con's from both sides of the spectrum. Both men and women have made various changes on how they view the want and need for children. Please join us.
It's a matter of respect. Hasn't it always been that way? Then why do we continue to negate the fact that most conflicts are based on the inability of one side to respect the perspective of the other? How often have you looked back at a situation and said, "oh wait, I could have handled that differently" This conversation is sparked in the wake of the officer who threw a young black girl to the ground in a South Carolina school. Now there is a call to action. An outcry against injustice but... are we looking at this correctly? What is the root cause of the problem? Let's discuss it tonight on WKPJB Radio
Uber Technologies Inc. is an American international transportation network company headquartered in San Francisco, California. The company develops, markets and operates the Uber mobile app, which allows consumers with smartphones to submit a trip request which is then routed to Uber drivers who use their own cars. By May 28, 2015, the service was available in 58 countries and 300 cities worldwide. Since Uber's launch, several other companies have copied its business model, a trend that has come to be referred to as "Uberification". Uber was founded as "UberCab" by Travis Kalanick and Garrett Camp in 2009 and the app was released the following June. Beginning in 2012, Uber expanded internationally. In 2014, it experimented with carpooling features and made other updates. By mid-2015, Uber was estimated to be worth $50B. Join us as we discuss this phenomenon and tell the stories that come with being in an Uber!
We will discuss burning man from the perspective of BluPhunk! Join us!!!!

So I went to see Straight outta Compton this weekend. Watching the film inspired me, tremendously, ... but then came the comments. Even though it was the number one movie of this past weekend, even though it was F. Gary Gray's career best film, there were still the haters. So in this show we will discuss the influence of music, Hip Hop, Film, Artists, Mysoginism, Police Brutality and the necessity for groups like NWA. We want you to rep your set and tell us what it was like for you growing up. We will also continue our tradition of open mic so if you have a piece you wish to share, we encourage you to bring it with and share with us, even if off topic because here at WKPJB Radio, we encourage you to venture into the uncomfortable. "Does any of this sound familiar? "I'm too tall." "I'm too short." "I'm too skinny." "If only I were shorter/taller/had curly hair/straight hair/a smaller nose/longer legs, I'd be happy." Are you putting yourself down? If so, you're not alone. As a teen, you're going through lots of changes in your body. And, as your body changes, so does your image of yourself. It's not always easy to like every part of your looks, but when you get stuck on the negatives it can really bring down your self-esteem. Why Are Self-Esteem and Body Image Important? Self-esteem is all about how much you feel you are worth — and how much you feel other people value you. Self-esteem is important because feeling good about yourself can affect your mental health and how you behave. People with high self-esteem know themselves well. They're realistic and find friends that like and appreciate them for who they are. People with high self-esteem usually feel more in control of their lives and know their own strengths and weaknesses." - from http://kidshealth.org/teen/your_mind/body_image/body_image.html We will discuss body image on this show from all aspects. Men, women, young, old. How do you feel about you? Chamber 7 and BluPhunk
Rape culture is a concept in which rape is pervasive and normalized due to societal attitudes about gender and sexuality. Behaviors commonly associated with rape culture include victim blaming, sexual objectification, trivializing rape, denial of widespread rape, refusing to acknowledge the harm of some forms of sexual violence, or some combination of these. There is evidence to suggest that rape culture is correlated with other social factors and behaviors. Rape myths, victim blaming, and trivialization of rape have been found to be positively correlated with racism, sexism, homophobia, ageism, classism, religious intolerance and other forms of discrimination. Our previous conversation on the matter was so extensive that it required a Part 2. We will continue our discussion on Rape Culture and how you can stop it. An adult discussion with Chamber Seven and BluPhunk

The most recent case with Bill Cosby has sparked the need to have this discussion. Both men and women, can be raped. Both men AND women can be blamed for rape. I want to have an open, adult discussion about it.
Our next show will be dedicated to the hard working youtube video makers of the newest web series called: Bottom of the Barrel! The creation of actor/athlete Tony Wade?, this youtube series was designed to give you an in depth review into some of the worst movies that you may stumble across. Based on the title or fan based suggestions, the team of Bottom of the Barrel sacrifice their time to watch these movies and then take the time to review it in a hilarious way. This will give you a chance to speak with them directly and get their views on the show as well as the rest of the world so come with your questions! Call in 347-324-5487, press 1 to speak or nothing to listen.
Our next show will be surrounding the controversy of the taking down the confederate flag in NC. This is the subject chosen by one of our fans! We want to hear your opinion.
This show is a blessing and an honor for me. Godchild the Omen has been a fixture in the VA spoken word community for a very long time. He is long been the host with the most for most of the open mic in the 7 cities. It was only fitting that he would be the mentor for me... ( Get it Chamber 7 birthed in the 7 cities? ) He has been on his grind for a long while and I am honored to have a chance to interview him on our show. He has a lot of shows and flows to share... Please bring your questions and your poems. Chamber 7 and BluPhunk BOOM! 347-324-5487
This evening we will feature E the Poet Emcee!!! He has an initiative that I want to introduce to you all and I look forward to speaking with him. You can get a copy of his work on CDbaby: http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/epoetemcee You can preview his work on Reverbnation if you follow this web link: https://www.reverbnation.com/ethepoetemcee So bring your pieces and let's get into this!!! C7, BPhunk!
Ok... I know I was supposed to have Godchild the Omen, Carl West but I did not do a very good job of promoting the show. I dare not dishonor my friend, brother and mentor like that so I am postponing the show. I want to be sure he gets all of the attention he rightfully deserves. So today, we are having an open mic. We will go all out and discuss any and everything. So bring your pieces and let's get into this!!! C7, BPhunk!
It is my honor and privilege to announce this next show to illuminate the beginnings of the 10th annual Black Poetry Festival in Atlanta, GA!!!! I will be in attendance and looking forward to it. We will have special guest, Lamar Anthony Hill. As a native of Newark, NJ. In 1999 he left a successful career in sales and made the decision to begin performing spoken word poetry for a living. Eight years later, Lamar has produced more than a half dozen CDs. He is also a published author releasing Freak, his first novel in 2003. In 2004, Lamar wrote and produced his first stage play Deception and Denial. The following year his second play Never Sleep Alone played to sold out crowds and rave reviews. In 2006, he wrote and produced The Love Electric. He will speak more on some of his work in our show and hopefully bless us with some of his work. We will also discuss with JustMeThePoet the in's and out's of the up and coming 10 annual Black Poetry Fest. Please bring your poetry and spit dat fiya!!! What better way to spend a Wed!
Aight so this is not your typical Blogtalkradio show, or so I have been told. Normally we have our open mic discussions on Wed. Well now we will start a new monthly show called, "Settin' the records straight" This show is dedicated to giving a voice to people who have something to say and don't wish to curb it on the stance of tact or formality. This edition of Settin the records straight, welcomes, Spoken Word Artist Endlesswill Davis. He recently shared his candid opinion of the Olympian formerly known as Bruce Jenner, now Ms. Caitlyn Jenner. His opinion sparked a remarkable amount of controversy. WKPJB Radio recently had a show titled TransJenner, where we featured the season 2 winner of Rupaul's Drag Race, Tyra Sanchez. This should prove to be a very enlightening show as well. We will take all on comers who wish to discuss the matter maturely. Please join Chamber7 and BluPhunk.
Ok, let me cut to the chase: I didn't want to do this show. Not because I was opposed or offended by the idea but because I felt it disrespectful to Caitlyn Jenner. Why? Because it is her life and her decision and even as a "celebrity" it is none of my concern what she wants to do with her life but then I realized that everyone doesn't think that way. Everyone is not willing to see both sides of the story. I want to give a opportunity to those who are not celebrities on this scale to speak freely. I want to give those who oppose or defend Caitlyn's decision to speak out freely. So in this show, as always, you have the choice to voice your opinion, state some facts and spit some poetry. I welcome all open, honest, intelligent discussions. I am not in support of being derogatory to anyone's character by no means so please be mindful of your comments and how they could be harmful to others. Let's just have a mature discussion. Shall we? You just might learn something.
In this week's show, we are going to have a candid discussion in regard to a recent meme that has been making the rounds on social media. The scenerio is as follows. You are at a barbecue. Your man is hungry. He lets you know he is hungry but you are not the kind of woman to go around "fixing plates" for a man so you ignore him. A random woman hears this and says, I will fix his plate. She sashays away and comes back with a plate for your man. Do you have any problems with this? We shall discuss it at length by dissecting it considerably. I look forward to your insight!
This week's show is focusing on the amazing human ability to know when and when not to do something. We will discuss a woman's intuition and a man's gut instinct. What moments of inspiration have you had that were caused by these? This will be an open forum of discussion. Even though we have a topic, we are always open to some poetry!!! The mic is always live!!! Please join us!

Well now we will start a new monthly show called, "Settin' the records straight" This show is dedicated to giving a voice to people who have something to say and don't wish to curb it on the stance of tact or formality. They will speak as freely as possible and the host will merely act a guardrail to stay on topic. I hope you will join us for our very first show where we will speak with Carlos Lavezzari also known as Written in Pain. We will discuss a recent video he posted with regard to his opnion and the backlash he received from it. Want to know more? Stay tuned. and if you have something you want to get off your chest, got beef, then let us know and we will get you on the next edition of... "Settin' the records straight"
