In Episode 128 of the Living the Authentic Life Podcast, we welcome a truly extraordinary guest: Scarlett James, my Godchild and co-founder of The Scarlett Fund at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center(MSK). In 2014, at just 6 years old, Scarlett was diagnosed with stage 4 T-cell lymphoma and underwent over 2 years of chemotherapy and radiation treatment. Her journey, however, didn't stop with her survival. Instead, Scarlett has turned her personal battle into a mission to help other children facing cancer. According to Dr. Neal Shukla at MSK, “With the help of her family and her community, Scarlett has inspired a philanthropic movement that has raised more than $4.5M for cancer research at MSK Kids, the pediatric cancer program at MSK. Thanks to The Scarlett Fund, every child who walks through the door gets their cancer analyzed at a level that almost no other institution in the world can match.” One of Scarlett's most touching initiatives is The Scarlett Fund Card Project. During her time in the hospital, friends and classmates sent her cards to show she was not alone in her battle. As Scarlett met other children in the hospital, she started writing cards of love and support, sharing how powerful and comforting it was to have those cards during her own months of treatment. The Scarlett Fund Card Project continues to grow and proudly distributes thousands of cards to children across the world battling cancer. Scarlett's dedication doesn't stop there—she also advocates on Capitol Hill, working to pass legislation to allow children with cancer to receive expanded access to therapies. By raising her voice in D.C., Scarlett is fighting for the best possible treatments for young cancer patients and ensuring that life-saving therapies are available to those who need them most. If that wasn't enough, Scarlett also interned at MSK, where she shadowed leading doctors like oncologist Dr. Diane Ready. Scarlett's story is a testament to resilience, compassion, and the power of turning personal struggle into advocacy and change. She is not just a survivor—she is a leader, a fighter, and a voice for children everywhere facing the battle of their lives. Tune in to this inspiring episode to hear more about Scarlett's journey, her work, and her vision for a brighter future for children with cancer.

What began as a love triangle turned into a chilling tale of greed, betrayal, and murder, culminating in a public execution that would challenge the very nature of capital punishment in Great Britain. (The Murderous Mannings) *** In 1720, amidst a perilous pirate attack on the Atlantic, a newborn's cry changed the course of destiny. Ocean-Born Mary, christened by buccaneers and gifted with a bolt of green silk, would grow from a maritime legend into a symbol of courage and resilience in colonial New England, her extraordinary birth weaving a tapestry of fact and fiction that continues to captivate imaginations centuries later. (A Pirate's Godchild, Ocean-Born Mary) *** On the morning of June 20, 2001, Andrea Yates shocked the nation by drowning her five children, one by one, in the family bathtub. Years of untreated mental illness, compounded by religious fanaticism and postpartum psychosis, culminated in this unimaginable tragedy. Was it the work of a tortured mind, or something darker at play? (Did The Devil Make Her Do It?) *** Deep in the ancient folds of the Appalachian Mountains, where time seems to slow and shadows linger, legends have taken root for millennia. These peaks have become a breeding ground for supernatural tales that blend seamlessly with the landscape. The sheer age and untamed nature of Appalachia have given birth to a rich tapestry of myths, from the Mothman, to ghosts, to the Devil himself. (Modern Mythology and Ancient Appalachia) *** In the heart of Preston, Ladywell Street is infamous for a chilling spectral presence capable of shifting forms—from eerie footsteps to a blood-soaked apparition known as the Bannister Doll. Once a beautiful young woman, Dolly Bannister met a tragic death at the hands of her father, a punishment for a crime she didn't commit. Now, her restless spirit seeks retribution, haunting the streets and striking fear into anyone who dares to cross her path. (The Haunting of Ladywell Street) *** In 1984, a sleepy English village became the unlikely stage for a mind-bending mystery when a schoolteacher's computer began receiving messages from a man claiming to be from 1546. As past and present collided through a BBC Micro, Ken Webster and his friends found themselves entangled in a web of Tudor English, future prophecies, and inexplicable phenomena that would challenge everything they thought they knew about time and technology. The MAC Effect is back with another great episode. We continue to challenge, speak the unspoken and confront fears for the goal of growth. On this week episode we talk with My Sister (Ivett Campos). . Ivett is one of my older siblings, 1 of 3 (we are a total of 4, all older than me, yes... I am the baby of the family). I wanted to bring this conversation to you all for the fact of I personally wanted to learn more about her. Speak with my sister like never before, and help single mothers out there. (She won't be single for much longer) hahaha. . This chat was not what I expected but grateful with God for allowing it to happen. We also have a bonus guest! She makes her appearance early on and late. She is a beautiful joy to add to this family and is much needed. My sister daughter, my Godchild... Abigail, Aka Abby. . So, regardless where you find yourself, in the car, shower, bedroom, on the way to work, wherever. Grab your coffee, tea, cold milk / Chocolate-milk (hot/cold), protein shake, whatever it is... enjoy this moment as much as I did. I hope this grows you, gives you perspective, and value what you have. Please share your comments and thoughts. I ask if you can continue to spread the word, share, post, subscribed... so that we all can keep growing. ~The MAC Effect thanks you~ #Themaceffect #maceffect #mac #mikecampos6 #god #love #hope #faith #joy #question #awakening #understanding #building #fundamentals #ihaveaquestion #iwanttolearn #growing #growingpains #letsgetitright #nottoday #nottodaysatan #jesuschrist #inJesusname #lovealwayswins #peace #letsgetit #marriage #ourstory #ourtime #Jacqie #mike #mikeandjacqie #jacqieandmike #truth #vulnerability #strength

Throughout the Old Testament, there are many prophecies about the Messiah and what He will do. Remarkably, even though various authors never met and they wrote centuries apart from one another, they all paint the same picture. The Messiah will be born. The Messiah will reign forever. And the Messiah is God Himself. This week, as we study Micah's prophecy of the birth and reign of Jesus, we will be drawn into the glory of the Christmas season and God's unending love for us.

At Home in the Truth Colossians 1:9-14 Here's my advice– "Do not lie." "A Christian is someone who is unable to lie." –Stanley Hauerwas “...the truth can be spoken only by someone who is already at home in it, not by someone who still lives in untruthfulness..." –Wittgenstein What does it mean to be at home in the truth? Colossians 1:9-14 9 For this reason also, since the day we heard this, we haven't stopped praying for you. We are asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding, 10 so that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him: bearing fruit in every good work and growing in the knowledge of God, 11 being strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, so that you may have great endurance and patience, joyfully 12 giving thanks to the Father, who has enabled you to share in the saints' inheritance in the light. 13 He has rescued us from the domain of darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of the Son he loves. 14 In him we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. ...that you may... be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding walk worthy of the Lord bear fruit in every good work and grow in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power... great endurance and patience joyfully giving thanks to the Father... share in the saints' inheritance in the light... Why would we ever lie? • Our lives are constructed of stories. • We are often tempted to lie because of pride and power "This distance between how we live and what we know to be true is painful and tempts us to change the truth rather than change our lives." –Stanley Hauerwas, The Character of Virtue: Letters to a Godchild • We often lie because we don't want our limits exposed. We fear our foolishness will be on display. Ephesians 4:15-16 15 But speaking the truth in love, let us grow in every way into him who is the head—Christ. 16 From him the whole body, fitted and knit together by every supporting ligament, promotes the growth of the body for building itself up in love by the proper working of each individual part. Two of the richest fruits of truthfulness are trust and peace. • Speaking the truth means we must be what we seem to be. Ephesians 4:25 Therefore, putting away lying, speak the truth, each one to his neighbor, because we are members of one another. • A life of isolation and lies deforms us into the image of the devil. • The exemplary life of Christ is a life that is at home in the truth. It is a life that has undergone training to keep pride in check. "God has given us a wonderful exercise for training in truthfulness. That exercise is called prayer. To learn to pray is to have our bodies formed by the truth and love that move the sun and the stars.ul exercise for training in truthfulness." –Stanley Hauerwas, The Character of Virtue: Letters to a Godchild

The event we celebrate this day runs counter to modern sensibilities- feast of the what? Some may ask. The Roman Catholics discarded it in their liturgical reforms as they got with the times- but we still celebrate, if with a wince, the circumcision of the God Child and Savior of the Human race Jesus Christ. This is in fact the Saviors first shedding of blood in his holy sacrifice for the remission of sins and our redemption from iniquity and the curse, punishment and death. How could we not stop and worship Him on this day? He did not need to undergo the suffering and humiliation of circumcision for his own sake- He was the lawgiver he did not need to subject himself to the law. But we needed him to come to where we were and rescue us, and so ...when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, to redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. Gal. 4:4-5

In the first story, a laborer first loses a table that sets itself with a feast; and then loses a sifter that drops gold coins into his pockets. How can he get them back from the thieving innkeeper? In the second story, a new father has run out of god parents. So, for his youngest daughter, he asks St. Anthony to be her godfather. St. Anthony accepts and gets her a job in the king's castle. In order to get in and focus on her work, she dresses up like her brother and pretends to be a boy. This backfires when the king's sister falls in love with "young page". Will she be found out? In 1970, at 19 years of age, Caylor went searching for spiritual help in India. What he found was a beggar (Yogi Ramsuratkumar, 1918-2001) who showered blessings and divine love on all who came upon him and who came to be recognized as one of the great masters of the last century. In this talk, Caylor describes some of the bewildering circumstances that he witnessed and teaching lessons that he received on a spiritual journey in the company of Yogi Ramsuratkumar in and around the town of Tiruvannamalai in south India. Yogi Ramsuratkumar’s timeless joy, liberation, and continuous work for all the creation elicited a response of devotion from so many whose hearts were opened through contact with him. Caylor is a Doctor of Oriental Medicine, an acupuncturist, and author of Yogi Ramsuratkumar: The Godchild, Tiruvannamalai and the booklet, The Yogi Ramsuratkumar Garland of Praises.

Outline: https://bit.ly/347zD3RSubtitle: An overview of Biblical ParentingToday we shift our focus and attention away from "God in Politics" toward "God in the Family".Opening StatementsThe basic building block of any society or nation is the family unitIf the family unit is strong then the nation will be strongIf the family unit is weak or broken down, the nation will be weak and broken downWhen God counted the nation of Israel, he counted them by their families (Numbers 26:1-5 >)Numbers 1:2 (NCV)You and Aaron must count all the people of Israel by families and family groups , listing the name of each man.To (re)build a nation, God's focusses on (re)building the family, and in particular, the individual within the familyThe seeds of family breakdown are many times sown in people's lives during their childhood, through: - Observing dysfunctional family dynamics - Lack of proper child training - Wrong child trainingProverbs 22:6 (NKJVTrain up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.The Goal of your Parenting EffortsMalachi 2:15 (NLT) Didnt the Lord make you one with your wife? In body and spirit you are his. And _ what does he want? Godly children from your union. So guard your heart; remain loyal to the wife of your youth. The goal of your parenting efforts is to raise up godly childrenGodly children will eventually become godly adultsAs Christian parents, we desire to bring our children up:To know and serve Jesus Christ as their own personal Lord & SaviourTo become law-abiding citizens and serve their generationTo be contributors to society, rather than takers from society"Google-style" parenting cannot produce "Bible-style" childrenOur parenting style shouldn't be a mixture of biblical & worldly parenting philosophies, as this would result in a mixture of godly & ungodly children.Ephesians 6:4 (NCV) Fathers, do not make your children angry, but raise them with the training and teaching of the Lord.Once again, Bible-based parenting will produce bible-based results - Make the Word of God the basis of your parenting philosophy - Teach your children the Word of GodChild-centred parenting is a worldly parenting philosophy and will produce self-centred childrenDeuteronomy 6:6–9 (NKJV) And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. _ 7 You shall teach them diligently to your children , and_ _ shall talk of them when you sit in your house ,_ _ when you walk by the way, when you lie down , and_ _ when you rise up._ _ 8 You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes._ _ 9 You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates._Teach the Word of God to your children:Talk of them (God's Word) when you sit in your houseWhen you walk by the wayWhen you lie downWhen you rise upIn other words, teach them the Word of God at every opportunityEphesians 6:1–3 (NCV) _ Children, obey your parents _ as the Lord wants, because this is the right thing to do. _ 2 The command says, " Honor your father and mother." _ This is _ the first command that has a promise with it — 3 _"Then everything will be well with you, and you will have a long life on the earth."Your most basic task as a Christian parent is to:To get your children to obey youTo get your children to honour and respect youHonour for father & mother speaks primarily about honour for authority.Initially, as a parent, you are your children's Nurturer & ProtectorThen you become their Trainer, Teacher & CoachYou are their Authority figureAs they get older, you become their Friend, advisor & counsellorIf you try to be a friend to your children before they recognise you as their authority figure, you will lose all authority and they will see you as their equal.Of course, you can and should be friend-ly with your children, but you shouldn't try to be their friend until after you have established yourself as their authority.Introducing the tree of the knowledge of good & evilGenesis 2:8–9 (NIV) Now the Lord God had planted a garden in the east, in Eden; and there he put the man he had formed. _ 9 The Lord God made all kinds of trees _ _grow out of the ground— trees that were pleasing to the eye _ and _ good for food ._ _In the middle of the garden were the tree of life _ and _ the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. _God made and placed 3 main categories of trees in the Garden of Eden:Beautiful trees including fruit trees everywhereThe tree of life middle of the GardenThe tree of the knowledge of good & evil middle of the GardenGod gave Adam & Eve permission to partake of all the fruit trees, including the tree of life (vs. 16), but at the same time He forbade them to partake of the tree of the knowledge of good & evil. The tree of the knowledge of good and evil represents:Rules & BoundariesNOWhilst obvious, dangerous and harmful temptation should be removed from children to keep them safe & keep them from getting into trouble, it is very healthy establish rules, boundaries and NO early in their childhood. If children disobey & partake of the "forbidden tree", there have to be consequences!Children may learn from your disapproving wordsBut children will really learn from the unpleasant consequences of their disobedienceOf course, consequences should be: - in proportion to their disobedience - in keeping with their ageParents who constantly shield their children from any consequences of their disobedience will perpetuate disobedience in their childrenProverbs 22:15 (NKJV)Foolishness is bound up in the heart of a child;__the rod of correction will drive it far from him.Proverbs 13:24 (NKJV)He who spares his rod hates his son, __but _ he who loves him disciplines him _ _ promptly__ . _Proverbs 23:13–14 (NLT)_ Don't fail to discipline your children. _ The rod of punishment won't kill them. _ 14 _Physical discipline may well save them from death.Types of consequences:Loss of privilegeLoss of certain enjoymentsCompliance vs ObedienceCompliance is external, obedience is internal.Obedience is the joyful carrying out of expectations & requestsCompliance is the grudging carrying out of expectations & requests. The 7 R's of successful parentingRepetition is the mother of all learningRoutine children thrive in routineRules boundariesReinforcement (positive & negative)Recognition catch them doing the right thingRe-direction redirect them before they get into troubleRewards reward good behaviour & extraordinary effortsRelationships bad company corrupts good morals (1 Cor. 15:33)Be consistent.

Quote from Travis BradberryGrit is that 'extra something' that separates the most successful people from the rest. It's the passion, perseverance, and stamina that we must channel in order to stick with our dreams until they become a reality.特拉维斯·布拉德伯里名言意志力是区分常人和那些最成功的人的“额外的东西”。它是为了坚持我们的梦想成真而集中的热情、坚持和耐力。

In this message Alex takes us through the Bible in knowing what to expect when Jesus Christ is born in our lives. It doesn't mean that it is going to be all rosy and cosy suddenly but we should expect a fight! Because the kingdom of God uproots all the other rulers over our life. However, Alex encourages us to remember and believe the promises God spoke over our lives and to insist on our citizens rights to speak the Word of God with boldness.

The relationship between god parent and god child is important one. Especially in African Spiritual Traditions.
IT'S MAKE A PORNO TIME. You'll get that reference after you listen to the episode. Anyway, music producer/engineer Najeeb Jones aka Godchild is back to watch some rapper porn videos. We discuss my brief attempt at a rap career, then get into the merits of becoming a porn rapper. Najeeb reveals one of the worst things he's ever done dating all the way back in kindergarten, and I reveal one of my most impressive badges of honor to date. Also, Najeeb's Muslim, and he tells the story of when his girlfriend's pastor father tried to convert him to Christianity. Listen to the end of the podcast to find out how to win a free t-shirt! Bit of a touchy subject this week as I watch Muslim porn with hip-hop and electro-pop producer/engineer Najeeb Jones aka Godchild. We're just a Jew and a Muslim talking about porn in religious harmony. We compare Judaism to Islam, where I learn a little bit about Islamic cuisine and Najeeb learns the secret behind Bar/Bat Mitzvahs. Najeeb's family is from Kuwait, so after the porn, we talk about what that's like, how it is for women there, as well as fun things to do. Would the country next to Iraq make a good vacation spot? Listen and find out. Also, I share some more embarrassing stories, then during the lightning round, Najeeb and I bond over having both seen the same first porn, and finally delve into some brief talk about bestiality. This show is a blessing and an honor for me. Godchild the Omen has been a fixture in the VA spoken word community for a very long time. He is long been the host with the most for most of the open mic in the 7 cities. It was only fitting that he would be the mentor for me... ( Get it Chamber 7 birthed in the 7 cities? ) He has been on his grind for a long while and I am honored to have a chance to interview him on our show. He has a lot of shows and flows to share... Please bring your questions and your poems. Chamber 7 and BluPhunk BOOM! 347-324-5487
Ok... I know I was supposed to have Godchild the Omen, Carl West but I did not do a very good job of promoting the show. I dare not dishonor my friend, brother and mentor like that so I am postponing the show. I want to be sure he gets all of the attention he rightfully deserves. So today, we are having an open mic. We will go all out and discuss any and everything. So bring your pieces and let's get into this!!! C7, BPhunk!
What do you want for Christmas? An Xbox One? A soul mate? Your two front teeth? A Browns playoff game or three. Those are all noble things. But there may be something deeper that you want. Or need. Around 700 B.C. the prophet Isaiah delivered an oracle proclaiming the birth of a child. He also revealed a quintet of peculiar baby names for the little guy: “And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Maybe, somehow, this God-Child is what we really want and need for Christmas.
