Spill vi snakker om i episode 62: 7 Days to Die, Valheim, Minecraft, ZombiU, Red Dead Redemption 2, Horizon Zero Dawn, Lunar: The Silver Star, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time/Majora’s Mask/Minish Cap/Breath of the Wild, Xenoblade Chronicles, The Witcher, Cuphead, Dark Souls, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, Divinity: Original Sin, Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, Ori and the Blind Forest, Super Mario 64, Mega Man, Sonic the Hedgehog, Jazz Jackrabbit, The Talos Principle, Command & Conquer: Red Alert, My Summer Car, The Lion King, Persona 5 Strikers, Apex Legends, Little Nightmares, Alien: Isolation, Baba is You, NieR: Automata, Analogue: A Hate Story, Snake Pass, Half-Life, Black Mesa, The Fall, Republique, Alpha Protocol, Burnout Paradise, Celeste, Dying Light, Hob, HUE, Oceanhorn, Sunless Sea, The Book of Unwritten Tales, The End is Nigh, Unmechanical, Schrödinger’s Cat and the Raiders of the Lost Quark.

Justin Ma and Matthew Davis, the creators of FTL and Into The Breach, sat down with Jason and Maddy at GDC 2019 to discuss the intense creative stress involved in making their most recent game. Despite wanting to pull the plug on Into The Breach many times, the duo forged onward and made a strategy game that is elegant in its simplicity. In the second half of the show, Christine Love joins us to talk about her past visual novels (Analogue: A Hate Story, Ladykiller In A Bind) and her pivot towards making an RPG called Get In The Car, Loser! which will have actual combat mechanics alongside the dialogue trees.
This episode tracks Christine Love's unique path into the games industry, the process of creating a visual novel -- (from the writing, to the programming, to figuring out what choices to give the player), the design considerations that go into creating an erotic game, and much more! [School of Everything Else 2017] A commissioned show from Mark Lucksch. First thing I said when I saw the art was "No anime." Mark assured me that with its writer based in the west and Korean rather than Japanese artwork, as well as lack of animation that this text-adventure available on Steam was not, in fact, anime. After many hours of playing through this tale of an intelligent, female consciousness inside a computer on a spaceship, with its themes of oppressive, patriarchal tradition, and a woman's prerogative, we both had a rather... strong reaction. Enjoy? Next week: Gargoyles
We said we’d do it, and we weren’t lying. This is our first free form episode, where we just sit and talk about games. Please let us know if it’s okay or not! Big news! Alice is moving to Los Angeles (and you get to hear us talk about it a lot!) Also we played some video games. What is Lindsay playing? Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D (Very pretty, fun but super difficult!) What is Alice playing? Dragon's Crown (Terrible, horrible, do not recommend) Plants vs. Zombies 2 (Fun but the free-to-play/mobile aspects wear out their welcome fast) Shin Megami Tensei IV (Okay, no Persona 4 anyway) Analogue: A Hate Story and Hate Plus (Very recommended, but warning the material gets dark/depressing at times) What are we looking forward to? Peggle 2 (Have to get an Xbox One) SpyParty (Currently in open beta) BioShock Infinite: Burial at Sea The XCOM: Enemy Within expansion
We dig into the Dragon's Crown controversy this week: Are you ever turned away from a game because of creative decisions? Also, we make some backlog progress and get into Mindjack and Analogue: A Hate Story, and Paul tries out the co-op in Ibb and Obb.
