“You are what you eat” gets taken to the next level today as I'm joined by Natalie D'Adamo to discuss “clean” eating. What does it mean, and why should we consider it? As Natalie says, the food we eat is what makes us, so we need to fuel our bodies to function the way they're supposed to. If you're feeling down, lost, or disconnected from yourself, the food you're eating may be the root cause. Natalie believes that transitioning into a “clean” lifestyle is a manifestation of wanting more for yourself and the rest of your life. Listen in as she shares how small changes in your diet can be transformative in your overall life and health. About Natalie D'Adamo: Natalie D'Adamo was born and raised in South Africa and moved to Canada in 2000, where she quickly found a feeling of home. Shortly after getting married and wanting to start a family, 3 years of fertility issues led her to start researching the effects of the chemicals we are being exposed to daily in the products we use and food we eat. Through learning to naturally support the body in doing what it does best, Natalie was able to naturally conceive two children, and loves to teach them about clean living and making good food choices to really thrive in life. The information she learned ignited her passion to find health and wellness personally through keeping fit and living a clean lifestyle. In following these passions, Natalie discovered Precision Nutrition, where she completed her official designation towards health coaching. Natalie has achieved great personal wellness for herself and her family in the last 10 years. She is very excited to help others achieve balance and wellness in all aspects of life, and particularly women's health. "COVID-19 is not just a medical issue. It is also a social justice, economic, and political issue. That makes it hard to figure out how best to share information about it, especially since messages come from a range of communicators—including elected officials, journalists, scientists, physicians, and community leaders—and are delivered to diverse audiences." Such is the foundational position in a recent piece published in Fast Company. Our guests this week, authors Todd Newman and Emily Howell (together with Dominique Broussard), present their insights into the messengers and their messages that constellate to keep us unhealthy. This is a conversation about trust, and it brings with it some extraordinarily difficult questions. Does the public understand the role of public health? Has our model of health broken its promise of healthy communities across racial and economic boundaries? Has the media lived up to its obligation to truth in a public health crisis? Objectively, the answer has to be a resounding no to these and so many more. Which opens to the door to our conversation this week in which we examine the opportunities before us to build trust, to cement community, to broaden the reach of our most critical messages, and to do so clearly. As Natalie so aptly says, "to engage in the production of the public's health is actually a patriotic act." So how do we make it clear that public health truly matters to private lives? Our deep thanks to Todd and Emily for joining us this week. Please visit the link below to read the original article. Thank you for listening, and for sharing with your communities, too. Finding or creating time in our busy day for reflection does not take time away from us; it is using our time wisely. Reflection is necessary and needed for our bariatric recovery, yet it is most often missed or overlooked. By reflecting on what we have achieved, accomplished, and faced, we can identify the work ahead of us and create a plan to take on that work. In this episode, all 5 East2West_WLS crew members gathered to reflect by answering three big questions: What did we accomplish this year? What did we struggle with this year, and how did we face these struggles? What are our 2021 goals, intentions, and resolutions, and how do we plan on achieving them? We hope this episode leaves you inspired. And that our stories of struggle and strife offer you solutions or pathways out of your struggle. Reviews of Dear Christmas and Merry Liddle Christmas Wedding, both from Lifetime. Some special guests join me for the Merry Liddle Christmas Wedding review! Synopses: Dear Christmas (Lifetime): Natalie Morgan (Melissa Joan Hart) is the host of a popular podcast, Holiday Love, which shares true stories of holiday romance with its listeners. While the outside world and her listeners everywhere see Natalie is an expert on romance, she’s never truly experienced a romance of her own. As Natalie prepares to embark on a promotional tour for her new book, she stops back home to spend Christmas with her family where she unexpectedly begins to experience her own holiday romance as sparks ignite with local firefighter, Chris (Jason Priestley). Dear Christmas also stars Robin Givens, Ed Begley Jr. & Faith Prince and includes cameos by Jamie and Doug Hehner (Married at First Sight: Couples Cam) and Hilarie Burton and Antwon Tanner (One Tree Hill). Merry Liddle Christmas Wedding (Lifetime): Lifetime’s first-ever Christmas sequel to last year’s hit movie, Merry Liddle Christmas, Merry Liddle Christmas Wedding once again follows Jacquie Liddle (Kelly Rowland), as she and Tyler (Thomas Cadrot) try to plan their perfect destination Christmas wedding. Naturally, Jacquie’s plans go awry when her boisterous family intervenes in her planning and her snooty wedding planner quits in protest. While nothing goes as initially planned, Jacquie and Tyler get a Christmas wedding more memorable than they could have ever dreamed.

We're catching up with Natalie Brown; writer by trade, storyteller by choice. Natalie's heart for entering into the power, love, and purpose of God launched her venture into writing and speaking. Soon after graduating from Hope College with Communications and Leadership, Natalie self-published her first book Fifty-Two Cups of Coffee: Weekly Reflections for the Contemplative Soul. This devotional pilot was written to help people listen, reflect, and respond to what God is saying. As Natalie puts it, "life is loud. Every day we are bombarded with the noise of simply being alive. In the midst of it all, it is easy to forget the voice that matters most. Through personal storytelling, honest insight, and Biblical study, this book will surely awaken your senses to the sounds of hope." Today, Natalie finds herself on a mission of inspiring hope, cultivating curiosity, and unearthing greater expectancy (in God, herself, and others) through writing! That's just how she shows up to life; choosing to see, believe, and do all things through the eyes of faith. When she's not speaking or writing, you'll probably find Natalie encouraging her followers over at her blog, dreaming of countries to visit, or taking some solo time with a cup of tea or coffee.Connect with Natalie: Instagram Facebook Blog LinkedIn ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________Connect with us at TWU Student Ministries

When I first was trying to figure out who to have on the podcast Natalie James was always on the top of my list. I knew she had a story to tell but I didn't exactly know the details. Her sister-in-law, Dallas James was one my first podcast guests and when I asked Dallas what she thought about having Natalie on the show I received a very enthusiastic "Yes!" Now that I had the opportunity to sit down with Natalie and hear her story first hand. I feel like she blew away my pre-conceived notions of who she was. Of course that's mainly because I didn't know her all that well, but it's amazing how you formulate a profile of who someone is in your mind when you're not that close... Maybe its BECAUSE you're not that close that you do that. Now my own perceptions of Natalie were never negative - she's super nice, funny and outgoing. I just didn't know that under the covers there was this type A go getter, who's focused and has a never say die attitude. Natalie has definitely had to overcome some difficult times in her life at a young age. I have no doubt in my mind that certainly contributed to her mental toughness. She's been in the rough and tumble arena of politics, she's also spent time in the non-profit world. She's a mom of 3 kids and wife to a husband in the police service. She's also an entrepreneur who started her own business fairly recently and now she's experiencing the ups and downs of business as only the self employed can. As Natalie was approaching 40, she found herself evaluating her life. For more than 20 years Natalie had gained valuable experience throughout her long career in politics and not-for-profit, and was fortunate to have had the opportunity to travel and meet various people all across the province and country. Throughout this time, she felt most inspired by the stories of female entrepreneurs, for their sense of adventure and willingness to take risks. They were women from all walks of life who had a vision and were deeply driven by that vision to achieve great things. Feeling unfulfilled by the predictability of her life path, Natalie set out to take a detour and leave the security of a good job to risk everything she and her husband had achieved for their family. She was determined to succeed and motivated to set an example for her two sons and daughter. Natalie’s desire for meaningful work and her desire to make an impact fuelled her drive to change her life and find ways to help other women along the way. Natalie is the founder and CEO of Star Kids Company and their flagship products are the Christmas Star From Afar and the Easter Story Egg. The Star  From Afar comes with a book and wooden nativity scene. Each day, the star hides and the 3 Wise Man go find it. It is a Gospel centered alternative to the Elf On The Shelf. The Easter Story Egg also comes with a book and a set of nesting eggs.  Each of the nesting eggs helps tell the story of Holy Week. I knew Natalie Ard before she was Natalie Ard. She and I grew up in the same small town in Northern IL where everyone knew your name and knew your business. Back then, she was Natalie Jeffords, her brother Aaron was a year ahead of me in school, her mom taught me to tap dance first in her garage and then in the town hall,  and her dad started out as my high school shop teacher but by the time I was a junior, he was my principle. I invited Natalie to be a guest because she is someone who went from being a stay at home mom to CEO. And not only that, her job requires a lot of travel. In this episode we talk about: How something that started really as just a hobby turned into a company. How Natalie prepared her business to get her product in retail stores. How Natalie got her product on QVC. How Natalie handles heavy travel seasons at work while still making sure her family thrives. The importance of boundaries and priorities in life and business. How to she handles an intense season of travel for work. Our big takeaways from this interview. God puts the right people in your path to help you along the way. Natalie sent her first drafts of her manuscript to her former high school English teacher, Mrs. McGuire, who was delighted to help. She was a trusted expert in Natalie’s life. Grassroots marketing really works. In the very beginning of Star from Afar, Natalie posted about what she was working on on Facebook and emailed her family and friends to share her excitement. She asked them to forward on the information to anyone who might be excited about it. She tapped into  her local market by selling at local vendor fairs and craft shows. There is no such thing as balance, but priorities are a great thing. As Natalie’s business grew, her priorities and boundaries had to shift. She had to say no to some social engagements while she was building her business. There wasn’t as much free time in her life as there was before she started. Natalie realized she needed to create margin and space for self care, time for her family, time with her husband and time with the Lord just as much as she needed to create time to work on her business. She realized everyone starts the day with the same 24 hours and it was up to her to decide how to spend them. Busy season work tips: Cross reference your schedule with your spouse or partner early. In Natalie’s case, she and her husband plan their January work schedule and calendar in October. Ask your community for help. Don’t be afraid to ask your friends, family and neighbors to help with carpool, after school activities or childcare.  Natalie often flies in her parents, so that her kids can keep their schedule the same. Bring your kids into what you’re doing as much as you can. Share photos and videos from your destination. Video chat with them as your schedule allows. Let go of control, you’re not at home. Don’t let things you can’t control consume you. Trust your that your care team has homework, school lunch and school activities handled. Be all in, wherever you’re at. If you’re traveling for work, but that hat on as much as you possibly can while you’re gone. When you come back home, put that mom hat back on and reconnect with your family (instead of coming home from a work trip and diving right back into work). Today, she is an Usui Reiki Master and animal communicator/healer, among other things. While she continued to learn through her journey working with other master teachers, she asked to be sent a teacher that would help her build her confidence in mediumship and psychic abilities.
