Happy Holidays, folks! Welcome back to the program. TONIGHT, it's Christmas time and Santa Claus was supposed to be on the show but he canceled on us again. Avatar: Fire and Ash just came out and we have thoughts but we're scared to share those thoughts. We also have fun games in store. Cody has a very important ranking to share. We also have a new ELF ON THE SHELF short film coming out TOMORROW (or later tonight on the Patreon if you're nasty).
Happy Holidays! It's the holiday season and the You Tried Dat?? gang is coming down your chimney with 3 Christmas themed snacks: Palmer Chocolates Elf on the Shelf, Dunkin Chocolate Santas, and Brach's Cherry Candy Canes. They also discuss Grinching children before taking a look at AI in another edition of Chat YTD. Follow us on Instagram to see pictures of the snacks @youtrieddat.
From festive traditions to financial realities, this episode covers a wide range of timely topics as the year comes to a close. We start with a lighter look at the season, unpacking some of this year's biggest holiday trends, starting with Elf on the Shelf's Marietta roots. Elf on the Shelf has grown from a simple idea into a global enterprise. Its deep connection to holiday tradition has helped create a sustainable, enduring business model year after year. Next we jump into the shopping trends from Labubu to Crumbl Cookies to luxury items. We consider what current consumer spending trends reveal about shoppers' confidence. We'll discuss what a K-shaped recovery tells us about consumer financial health and what it could mean for the economy heading into the new year. From there, we turn to the economy, diving into recently released data including November's employment growth and the current unemployment rate. Is the AI trend fully supporting our economy? In some ways yes, but we're also seeing the broader market catch up to the Magnificent Seven. Student loans are also back in the spotlight, with significant changes carrying major implications for millions of borrowers. We break down what's happening with income-driven repayment plans, including updates to IBR and the emerging Repayment Assistance Plan, and how these shifts may affect monthly payments and long-term forgiveness timelines. Our host KC was recently quoted in CNBC on these developments, and we'll explain what the legal and policy changes mean for your financial future. Finally, we look ahead to upcoming tax-law changes tied to higher education, including repayment plan phase-outs and expanded rules around federal education benefits—part of the broader One Big Beautiful Bill that could reshape student debt and college costs in the years ahead.Join hosts Nick Antonucci, CVA, CEPA, Director of Research, and Managing Associates K.C. Smith, CFP®, CEPA, and D.J. In ep 152 of “How Do You Say That?!” sponsored by britishvoiceover.co.uk, Rhiannon Moushall joins Sam and Mark to talk about getting a God complex and trees in the run up to Christmas! We find out about japanese gaming characters... and try to play a particularly ruthless ruler... a meglamaniac you might say... but one who presents as a little girl! It's that special time of year, where the dryer, closet, under the bed, or even an old fridge in your garage become the perfect mischievous hiding spot for…a child. That's right, its terrifying raising a large family and who's got time for Elf on a Shelf when you're first priority is a head count?! During maybe the most stressful time of the year, parents continue to overachive and out perform their neighbors with the Christmas craze, and we're here to say, it's ok if you can't! Hello! Here is this month's edition of Answer Us Back, full of your feedback on AMTs old and new - mostly pretty new. On today's menu: Olly Mann himself has a change of heart about Elf On The Shelf since AMT392. Laura found a variety pack of stock, as yearned for by Olly in AMT407 - although is two flavours enough to count as 'variety'? Several people wrote in to chip in on AMT412's discussion of people with your same name using your email address; here we hear from Margaret and Daniel. After hearing AMT411's question from Charlie from Canberra - whose mother had lately found out she was the biological child of a prolific sperm donor and thus has 600+ siblings - we heard from many of you reflecting upon your similar experiences of finding you were the child of a sperm donor, or your parent learning that they were. David, Breanne and Jo share some remarkable responses. If you've been storing thoughts about AMTs 1-412, send them to us for future episodes of Answer Us Back. And as always, send in your questions, in voicenote or written form to answermethispodcast@googlemail.com, for all new AMT413 which will be in your podfeed 24 December 2025. Our North Pole Radio News report the other day about mail coming in to the North Pole about the Elf on the Shelf has resulted in an investigation and new discoveries about Elf on the Shelf. For years on SantaUpdate.com we have avoided questions about Elf on the Shelf because nobody really knew a lot about them. There is no official department at the North Pole that runs Elf on the Shelf and Santa himself has long denied any knowledge or association with Elf on the Shelf. After doing some digging, I've learned how this whole thing started long ago at the North Pole. In this new emergency episode of the North Pole Podcast I share that story and discuss what all this means for Santa, the North Pole and anyone who has an Elf on the Shelf. We invite you to listen to this discussion and weigh in with your own thoughts.
Send us a textOur kids recently started doing the Elf on the Shelf tradition with me, and it has completely changed their mornings. They don't think about anything else first except for that little mischevious elf. They can't wait to wake up and see what new thing he has gotten into. Their joy and excitement convicts me. What is my routine when I first wake up? Do I grab my phone? My coffee? Go back to sleep? Or are my first thoughts about God? Thanking him for this new day and asking him to direct me? Do I wake up joyful, reading to wake the dawn with praises? #SetYourMindAbovePodcast

What's up Big Wigs, we're back and wrapping it up like Spotify did (us dirty) this week! We're recapping Thanksgiving in Jersey and Philadelphia, how family time was, how Anna's mom thinks she's a major VIP now, Andrea's tired out from her nephews... We're also learning about the new Jersey Shore Roast that was filmed in Atlantic City, Anna's got a Broadway recommendation for you this holiday season, and are we so proud of Luann on her Us Weekly cover?! You bet. We also discuss some funny stories from the past like when Anna's parents got her a bigger bed and she was sad about it, or how there's a new Elf On The Shelf and we're not into it, and were you surprised Whitney Leavitt is going to be in Chicago The Musical? This episode is full of funny takes - like should Staten Island be in NY or NJ? Were Andrea's leftover Nachos criminal or creative? Lastly... What did Spotify do to us this year!? Traumatic! Welcome to our ✨Holiday Special✨! In an episode that is ostensibly about Elf On The Shelf (or Mensch On The Bench — for Sarah), we explore our collective annual search for meaning and self with the great Meaghan O'Connell, author of And Now We Have Everything and noted Elf On The Shelf apologist. Pressing items interrogated lightly include: Should Elf On The Shelf be a Dad thing? Does holiday magic necessarily include lying to our kids? What do we say when our kids ask if we're Santa? What is the true magic? How do we even know what we enjoy and what we don't in a season this busy, and should we take Miranda's recommendation to do a witchy ritual to remind ourselves? On this episode: Lucy Lopez, Elizabeth Newcamp, and Zak Rosen are trying to take some of the holiday stress off your shoulders. They have gift recommendations for every type of kid, from the sports obsessed (tickets to a game are always a win) to the young scientist (science kits like those from Kiwi Co. are sure to be a hit), they have ideas to help you make all the kiddos happy this season. But first: A listener has a very important question - how do they end the yearly (exhausting) tradition of the Elf on the Shelf. Is it possible to “kill” the elf while keeping holiday magic? Podcast production by Cheyna Roth. Video production by Micah Phillips.
