What's up to my incorruptible iguanas and litigating lemurs! Welcome back to the BNP and thank you for joining! To my patrons, you all are the untz in my subwoof and the synth in my tweeters, I appreciate you! This episode I'm super jazzed to welcome back to the BNP our favorite independent gumshoe and citizen investigator, Dr. Sylvie Salinger, PhD! Dr. Salinger holds a PhD in philosophy, with her dissertation on artificial intelligence. She was kind enough to jump on the pod and help me unpack RFK Jr.'s massive myth-shattering tome, The Real Anthony Fauci. Strap in folks, because Dr. Sylvie and I go deep in this far ranging and thought-provoking conversation about government corruption, false prophets, and the danger of blind obedience to "the science." When "science" becomes "Scientism," Houston we got a problem. This is the inaugural edition of a new series I'm calling BNP Book Club: when I come across a book that I feel just HAS to be read. Er, listened to. And sometimes people don't have 25 extra hours lying around to listen to an audiobook. No worries, BNP Book Club has your back! All you have to do is lean back, sip that mint tea (or chamomile, or pu-erh), have your magical gummies at the ready, and enjoy the synopsis. Yes I realize this episode is 3 hours long. Whatcha gonna do, it's a long ass book. Won't you please help me afford groceries? What's up to my salubrious space racers and mercurial Motor City mastodons! (That's gotta be a Roller Derby team btw)It's October 14, 1962 in Suburban Detroit. John Glenn has just months earlier become the first American to orbit the Earth. John F. Kennedy in May has asked Congress for $531 million dollars (equivalent to $4.6 billion today) to put a man on the moon by the end of the decade. The first Walmart discount store is opened up in Bentonville, Arkansas. Andy Warhol paints a can of Campbell Soup. And, an American U-2 Spy Plane doing reconnaissance over Cuba captures photographic proof of the Soviets installing nuclear missile bases on the island nation, just 90 miles off the coast of Florida. Unbeknownst to the American public, including my Mom, who was celebrating her 13th birthday that day, the Cuban Missile Crisis has begun. Last episode we examined the Cuban Missile Crisis from a geopolitical and logistical perspective. This episode we look at the events from a personal, emotional and psychological perspective. To achieve this mighty feat of righteous nostalgia we turn to my wonderful Mom, who was kind enough to join the pod and take a trip down memory lane, helping us to re-live those tense days in middle October 1962.This is a fun one folks! Jump in, do the Mashed Potato, or the Twist, or the Watusi, and enjoy this diner-lit, drive-in episode of a remarkable chapter from a bygone era.Big Thank You to Mama Tanner for guiding us on this journey! Spread the word and tell a friend! My audience is growing, your propaganda is working! Thank you!! Please continue to bestow those ineffably gorgeous 5 stars!!
