Die tydren strek oor sowat 106 kilometer en volgens die organiseerders is die paaie goed voorberei en in baie goeie toestand. The once full compact truck space was filled with any number of budget-friendly small trucks that would handle the arduous task of hauling landscaping pieces from your local home store, or moving a Go-Kart has disappeared. Those small trucks either grew into the mid-size trucks we know today or fell into the footnotes of history, like the rotary-powered Mazda REPU. The folks at Hyundai jumped back into the underserviced space with the crossover-based Hyundai Santa Cruz. Riding on the same N3 platform as the similarly named Sante Fe, this Santa Cruz pickup essentially gives you the comfort and convenience of a modern crossover, with a separated, external four-foot cargo space – or bed, for the truck enthusiasts. On this episode of Quick Spin, host Wesley Wren hops behind the wheel of the 2025 Hyundai Santa Cruz and puts it through its paces. Wren takes you on a guided tour of the '25 Santa Cruz and highlights some of its updates and some of his favorite features. Later, Wren takes you along for a live drive review. Adding to these segments, Wren chats with Autoweek executive editor Tom Murphy about the Santa Cruz, the competitive set, and more. Closing the show, the pair breaks down what makes the 2025 Hyundai Santa Cruz so special.

We start this week with a tribute to the late Bill Baumgardner, the BACE Motorsports team owner who won three consecutive Busch Series championships in 1995-97 with drivers Johnny Benson and Randy LaJoie. Then, in the first of what will be three installments of our interview, Jamie McMurray talks about the perception that he was afraid to race hard, getting hooked up with Winston Cup team owner Chip Ganassi and how he ended up filling in for Sterling Marlin late in the 2002 season. We then take a look at the July 23, 1998 issue of Winston Cup Scene. There's a massive series of stories in this issue dealing with recent injuries to drivers and what could be done about it safety-wise … and from the seriousness of that topic … we move on to the silliness of a Go Kart race with Buckshot Jones … and Tony Stewart. 1- Is Chokwe Lumumba begging for the citizens of Jackson to vote for Kamala Harris because he's efforting a potential pardon for his alleged involvement in the convention center hotel bribery case? 2-Kamala Harris went on Shannon Sharpe's "Club Shay Shay" podcast and made a complete ass of herself by saying Trump was going to abolish the constitution and that she loved guns and the 2nd amendment. With a simple search on X we find video of her contradicting herself and in fact saying that she will sign an executive order to confiscate guns. 3- We peel back the onion on the Democrat propaganda that Trump is a racist and his rallies have any similarities to Nazi rallies. 4- Another failed "black excellence" project in Jackson leads to Kenneth Stokes demanding the former golf world property be cleaned up and it reminds me that this whole story sounds very familiar. We jump on the Delorean and go back to Nov. 5th 2020 and play the news story about this very location being converted into a drive-in move theater and Go-Kart track by "black investors from New Orleans"

In this engaging episode of Shark Theory, Baylor Barbee delves into the lessons he learned while racing go-karts at Andretti Racing. Drawing parallels between the fast-paced world of go-kart racing and the dynamic nature of life and business, Baylor shares invaluable insights on how to navigate challenges, the importance of strategic positioning, and the benefits of competition. Baylor emphasizes that going full throttle isn't always the best approach. In life, just like on the racetrack, knowing when to speed up and when to slow down can be crucial. He recounts his experience of trying to race without hitting the brakes and how it led to numerous crashes, illustrating that an all-gas-no-brake mentality often results in setbacks and wasted efforts. Instead, Baylor highlights the importance of strategic planning and positioning to achieve success effectively, without unnecessary detours or wasted energy. Key Takeaways: Balanced Approach: Speed is not the ultimate goal; balancing speed with strategic braking ensures smoother progress and fewer setbacks. Strategic Positioning: Position yourself for success by honing your skills and preparing for opportunities, rather than rushing into them unprepared. Avoid Wasted Energy: Efficiency in efforts is crucial; unnecessary lateral moves or wasted energy can derail progress. Competition Benefits: Healthy competition can drive better performance and self-improvement by pushing individuals to strive for their best. Preparation Matters: Proper preparation leads to better performance and a more enjoyable, less strenuous path to success. Notable Quotes: "Everything in life isn't just about speed. It's about knowing when to go fast, knowing when to use your brakes." "The angle you take is arguably more important than the speed that you go." "Let me position myself for success. Let me work on the skills necessary to allow me to function at the level that I want." "You might be just burning energy, you might be burning fuel; know when to use the right spots." "Competition is one of those iron sharpens iron types of situations." If you're looking to sharpen your mindset and achieve your goals, we've got you covered. Download our FREE Mindset Resources to get started on your journey to personal growth. Don't forget to check out our exclusive Shark Theory Apparel and Books for more tools and inspiration. We're on the road for this latest feature episode in a workshop on the outskirts of Melbourne with Supercars driver and broadcaster Jack Perkins. Jack opens up about the deep-rooted passion for motorsport that runs in his family, tracing back to his grandfather's competitive spirit and involvement in motorsport before and after WWII. He shares heartwarming stories of growing up, visiting the family farm in Cowangie, and why harvest time holds a special place in his heart. The episode takes a nostalgic turn as Jack reminisces about his father, Larry Perkins', thrilling yet perilous days in Formula 1 during the legendary 1970s. It's a candid look into a time when the sport was fraught with danger, but also filled with undeniable excitement and innovation. But perhaps most touching is Jack's story of how he, as a young boy, persistently badgered his father for a Go Kart—a request that would eventually see a third-generation Perkins take the competitive motorsport stage. Dive into the world of racing legacy, family bonds, and the undying love for motorsport in this compelling episode of Rusty's Garage with Jack Perkins.
