Join us as we dive into our adventures with Captain Jak's excursions in Placencia, Belize! We take you behind the scenes of this remarkable tour company headquartered at Sirenian Bay Resort, sharing the touching story of how the original Captain Jack's legacy lives on through his friend who purchased the business after Jack's passing. From there, we journey through lush jungles to experience a traditional chocolate farm where we learned about cacao cultivation, tasted the surprisingly delicious fruit surrounding cacao beans, and participated in the ancient art of chocolate-making using techniques passed down through generations. Our adventures continue at a hidden three-tiered waterfall system that felt plucked straight from a movie set. Picture this: crystal-clear pools perfect for cliff jumping, tiny fish providing natural "spa treatments" by nibbling dead skin cells from your feet, and refreshing swims surrounded by pristine jungle. As if that wasn't enough, we recount our unforgettable catamaran journey to Moho Key, a private island where we snorkeled through vibrant coral reefs, encountered docile nurse sharks and stingrays, and enjoyed fresh-grilled meals on a picture-perfect beach. What makes Captain Jak's truly special is their commitment to personalized experiences – whether you're seeking adventure, romance, or cultural immersion, they craft bespoke excursions tailored to your desires. It was actually like 26 or so but we realized when you have too much of a good thing, the appreciation starts to dwindle! Crank and Tumbles talk waterfalls in PA all while heading to a Metallica concert. This episode is a month behind so I (Tumbles) sincerely apologize for the tardiness. Expect a double episode today!
When it comes to rewarding outdoor experiences, there are few things that can compete with seeing a waterfall. There's just so much to enjoy. The mesmerizing sight of water cascading over rocks, the soothing sound of its rhythmic splash and the refreshing touch of mist in the air.No matter if the waterfall is five stories or five feet, they're a wonderful sight in nature. And luckily, Pennsylvania has a lot of beautiful waterfalls. We've got all sorts here. We got big ones, small ones, ones that can be found all year long, ones that only be seen after a big rain. Ones that roar like freight trains and ones that tinkle like wind chimes. We have waterfalls all over the Commonwealth. From Cucumber Falls in Fayette County to Ganoga Falls in Luzerne County. You can see waterfalls easily from your car or hike miles into the forest to explore them away from the crowds. We have something for everyone. And while TLC famously told us not to go chasing waterfalls, I implore you to.But having so many options can be dauting for some. Where do I start? Where should I visit first? When is the best season to see them? I don't know. So I decided to find someone who did. And we could not have gotten a better guest for an episode on our majestic waterfalls than this episode's expert. On this episode, I speak with Jim Cheney. Send us a textStanding at the edge of a thundering cascade, feeling the cool mist on your face as water tumbles over ancient Canadian Shield rock—there's something viscerally satisfying about experiencing a waterfall that enhances any camping adventure. We've assembled our ultimate guide to Ontario's most spectacular waterfalls, all conveniently located within the provincial park system. From the dramatic 40-meter drop of Kakabika Falls (deservedly nicknamed "Niagara of the North") near Thunder Bay to the intimate and family-friendly Stubbs Falls at Arrowhead Provincial Park, each waterfall offers a unique experience. We share our firsthand experiences at locations like Stubbs Falls, where the bubbling pool at the base creates a natural "hot tub" effect before you stretch out on sun-warmed granite rocks. However, we also discuss important safety considerations after witnessing a frightening slip that fortunately ended without serious injury. For those willing to venture further into Ontario's wilderness, we explore options ranging from the moderate three-kilometer hike to High Falls in Algonquin (perfect for swimming and sunbathing) to the much more challenging multi-day trek required to reach the remote Hendrie River Waterfalls in Lake Superior Provincial Park. We've included practical advice about the best seasons to visit (spring for water volume, fall for colors), accessibility considerations, what to pack, and the importance of proper footwear on potentially slippery trails. Whether you're planning a dedicated waterfall adventure or simply looking to enhance an existing camping trip, these seven spectacular destinations offer something for every outdoor enthusiast.Connect with us on social media or email us at hi@supergoodcamping.com with questions or to share your own waterfall experiences. Episode 224!You can also read our blog on the Port Angeles site here: https://www.visitportangeles.com/roam-with-the-roamies-as-they-explore-port-angeles-on-a-winter-vacation/As well as our previous 2 episodes to catch up with all our stories from the Olympic Peninsula to inspire you to create your own stories on YOUR adventure there! Waterfalls have a way of taking your breath away. Just ask Alexa, who fondly recalls being literally breathless when turning a corner during a Swiss hike to discover a magnificent cascade appearing out of nowhere. That magical moment sparked a passion that led us on an unforgettable journey through Washington's Olympic Peninsula, armed with nothing but a waterfall brochure and an appetite for natural wonder. The peninsula reveals itself as a wonderland of diverse cascades, each with its own distinct personality. Near Port Angeles, we discovered Madison Falls, a peaceful 60-foot drop nestled in a mossy grove perfect for quiet contemplation, and Marymere Falls, where a winding trail through ancient forest rewards hikers with a spectacular 90-foot waterfall. Venturing into the Hoh Rainforest transported us to an otherworldly landscape where everything drips with moisture and vibrant green moss hangs like curtains from towering trees. Here, smaller cascades like Mineral Creek Falls reveal themselves along misty trails, surrounded by the greenest forest floor imaginable. The Quinault Rainforest offered its own waterfall treasures, from roadside-accessible Merriman Falls to the wild beauty of Bunch Creek Falls with its dramatic 60-foot drop over rocky ledges. Though we couldn't make the 13-mile trek to the legendary "Valley of 10,000 Waterfalls" in Enchanted Valley, it's firmly on our bucket list for our next peninsula adventure. For waterfall chasers planning their own Olympic Peninsula journey, we recommend visiting during spring snowmelt or rainy months for maximum flow, and don't miss coastal falls like Strawberry Bay where cascades meet the sea at low tide. Whether you're an avid hiker seeking backcountry wonders or prefer easy access viewing points, the Olympic Peninsula's waterfalls will leave you, like us, a little more in love with the natural world. Life in the Peloton is proudly brought to you by MAAP G'day guys, I'm back with another ep of Life In The Peloton; and this one's a little bit different. Earlier this month, I was invited out to a little town called Gisborne over on the East Coast of New Zealand's North Island for a bikepacking adventure. Gisborne Tourism gave me a call and wanted to see if I'd come over for 5 days of bike riding, soaking in the Māori culture, and - of course - enjoying a few cleansing ales with some local legends and finding out more about the region; naturally, I jumped at the chance and hopped on a plane over to NZ. This hidden gem is on the South East coast of the North Island, and loosely follows the infamous Highway 35. Gisborne is a pretty remote area. It's raw, and refreshing - really back to basics. There are a lot of indigenous Māori living off the land out there respecting the natural environment just like their ancestors have done for generations. It's totally different to anywhere I've been before, and it was really powerful and inspiring to learn more about their culture and experience the landscape by bike. 550km over 5 days, this trip was hard enough without being too hard, if you know what I mean. We cruised on the bikes and took in all the sights, sounds, and smells of Gisborne along the way. We checked out some super cool spots; including the Eastwoodhill National Arboretum, some ridiculous beautiful waterfalls and wild swimming spots, and - of course - some world class gravel riding. I couldn't turn down this opportunity - to be invited out to a place I've always wanted to explore was too good to miss. This ep is actually part 1 of a 2 parter - so much happened on the trip I couldn't contain it into 1 episode, so I'm treating you guys to a double! Keep your eyes peeled for episode 2 dropping at the end of this week. If you want to read more about my trip, check out this cracking feature by our friends at FLOW MOUNTAIN BIKE. Cheers! After my marriage ended, I was grasping for something to hold onto. My friends were like, “Come to Bali, it's the perfect place to heal!” Waterfalls, ecstatic dance, sunshine—yes, please. So I packed my bags and flew across the world, thinking I'd be wrapped in adventure and good vibes. But Spirit had other plans. The very next day, my friends had to leave the country unexpectedly. And just like that, I was alone. In Bali.

On this episode of Prisoners of Rock and Roll, we're jumping in our musical memory machine and going back 30 years to 1995. Rock and roll still ruled the charts and alternative music was still a thing. We got great albums from Alice in Chains, No Doubt, Mad Season, Oasis, Ozzy, and White Zombie. SIlverchair, the Foo Fighters, the Deftones, Jewel, Radiohead, Alanis Morissette, and Garbage all released their debut albums. TLC warned us against chasing Waterfalls. Coolio was living in a gangsta's paradise, and groups also released a handful of songs that we still hear today: Hey Man Nice Shot, Peaches, and those songs by Spacehog, Better Than Ezra, Elastica. Several members of the Wu Tang Clan released solo albums. R&B kinda sucked with a few exceptions. And there was weird stuff like the Macarena, Scatman John, and Cotton Eye Joe were on the radio. It's been a while since we've enjoyed and been both absolutely horrified by a movie in a long time! Enter the 2024 Austrian slow burn, The Devil's Bath. While this hidden gem of folk horror should be on everyone's radar, don't expect any jump scares. Nope, just the sweet sweet terror of tradition and human behavior. Though set in the 18th century, this film touches on themes that are just as relevant today like mental illness, depression, un-aliving oneself and the threats of our waning communities. Buckle up because this bath is no kiddie pool. We're about to dive head first into the deep end of THE DEVIL'S BATH. This is a public episode.
