Cranking up the volume for Episode 2119 of The Goin' Deep Show—dishing out more tales from the wild side with the notorious Kid and Duke, and the always delightful Queen B. Let's dive right into the chaos and keep that dial turned to ridiculous. Booze Blues and Meds Mishaps: Queen B spins a yarn about a night gone wrong with mystery drinks and a hangover that's got more staying power than her ex's lame excuses. It's a cautionary tale of mixing meds and margaritas, with a side of potential barroom villainy. Babysitter Chronicles: Kid A.G. reminisces about early encounters that would make even Freud shake his head. It's a trip down memory lane that's part scandalous, part educational, and all Goin' Deep. Nympho Adventures: The gang delves into the dark and hilarious corners of sexual escapades, from nympho meetups to accidental nymphomania. It's not just storytelling; it's an exploration into the heart of human desire—or just a great excuse for a wild night. Fitness and Photogenic Phantoms: From discussions on body image to the ghost of booty pics past, the crew navigates the tricky waters of self-image and the internet. It's a rollercoaster ride of ego, memories, and a little bit of digital regret. Final Thoughts on Love, Sex, and Self-Discovery: Kid A.G. breaks down the complexities of love, lust, and everything in between, proving once again that the most profound insights often come from the most unexpected places (like a podcast studio).

Anyone having any luck ordering booze from the LCB website? (crickets)
Swing Shift is Donna Bowers and Wayde Peck. This duo (one of many Donna is in) stays pretty busy. They stopped into the Radio Memphis studios during the Booze & Blues and brought a party. They also brought a rather large choir of voice who helped sing back up on one song you will hear in this episode. Also, you'll hear the stories behind Donna's childhood and her exposure to music at such a young age and you'll hear just how many songs she has written. Wayde brings his guitar stylings to bear on some great performances you will hear in this On Demand feature.
Don't let the name fool you. Old People In Chairs is three legendary Memphis artists. Danny Green, Reba & Wayne Russell working together to make some great Memphis music. In this episode, you'll hear how they came together plus how they have played with so many different artists throughout the years. At one point, they were in the business of making commercial jingles. Some of which we are sure you have heard. Jimmy Crosthwait from Mud Boy & The Neutrons spent some time on the air at Radio Memphis recently. Jimmy came in with some rare recordings he was a part of and he spoke quite a bit about the days with Mud Boy & The Neutrons even explaining just where the name of the band came from. Along the way, he talks about his youth as a child actor. Later, he was a puppeteer and a sculpter. He stills plays, these days with Sons of Mud Boy at various places around Memphis. There are a lot of great stories here and some fantastic music that hasn't seen the light of day in a very long time and it is all right here in this special edition of the Booze & Blues.
Memphis representatives of the solo/duo entrants of the recent International Blues Challenge, Tlaxica & Pope dropped into the Radio Memphis studios on their way to an appearance in Austin, Texas. They have a brand new EP out now and during their appearance on the Booze & Blues they presented a few of the cuts from the new disc as well as a great live performance the way it happened live on the air. Listen now.
Long time Memphis blues act, The Memphis Snake Doctors dropped back into the broadcast studio for an appearance on the Booze & Blues. It was one of those nights where Studio B went from a radio broadcast spot to an all out juke joint. These guys always put on a good show and here it is for your listening pleasure. Listen now.
The long musical traditions of the Kimbrough family continue with the younger Cam. Like a lot of younger musicians discovering the blues, Cam came about it through more modern music. That road, as it often does, lead Cam Kimbrough right back into the family tradition. On a recent appearance on the Booze & Blues, Cam and his friend Damion Yella P Pearson put on a clinic regarding North Mississippi Hill Country and Cotton Patch blues styles. Hear it all right here.
North Mississippi storied bluesman Kenny Brown spent some quality time in the studio for the Booze & Blues where he and his band laid down the groove and talked about his annual North Mississippi Hill Country Picnic. The annual event draws blues fans from all around the world. It also brings in some of the more legendary artists to hit a stage. In this episode, Kenny talks about how he grew up playing the blues and how he learned the craft. Along the way, he broke a string. But, he picked up the Radio Memphis guitar from Killer B Guitars and kept right on going.
Midsouth musician Tullie Brae spent an evening in the Booze & Blues studio with her brand new album Revelation. She made this disc with some help from another Radio Memphis friend, Mick Kolassa. While she was on the air, she tells the story about how the record was made with stories from the studio. Also, she talks a bit about her songwriting process. By the way, this preacher's daughter knows her way around a keyboard as you will hear in this episode. She gave a heartfelt performance on the air and you will hear it all in this Radio Memphis On Demand exclusive.
Midsouth author Tom Graves spent Father's Day with the Booze & Blues show to talk about his new book, White Boy. It is autobiographical in that he talks about growing up in a racist environment and how he overcame those ways and how he found a way to forgive people he was close to while forgiving himself. He talks about learning how to live a life of acceptance in a world and a time where racism divided more than just communities. Surrounding himself with the music of the day and makers of those songs, he found himself.
Butch Mudbone was a guest on The Booze & Blues. We brought in the Radio Memphis House Band for this special night of fun. The House Band was Willie Hall (drums), Leo Goff (bass) and Stephen Seligman (guitar). Butch wanted to get into some older tunes, standards and few of his own songs. Along the way, he told some stories and one we never heard before about the time he went to Sharon Tate's place in Los Angeles before the murders and how he got a pretty heavy vibe before getting out. Plus, Butch goes unplugged for the last part of the show and performs a little of his slide work.
Brenda Taylor returns to the Radio Memphis studios for an appearance on The Booze & Blues. This time backed by the world famous Radio Memphis House Band made up of Brad Webb, David Dunn, Stephen Seligman and Willie Hall. She also talks about the Eddie Taylor Foundation, what it is and what it does and how you can get involved. Listen now.
Recent new Memphian (from Los Angeles), Doug MacLeod made an appearance at Radio Memphis during the Booze & Blues show. David is a remarkable player whose talents come from a wide array of musicians he has encountered over the years. The turning point for Doug came with a stint in the U.S. Navy. He tells that story in this On Demand show taken straight from the air. Along the way, you will hear some of his music, his passion for the National guitar he plays and what it takes (for him) to be one of the most remarkable finger pickers playing today. Listen now.
In one of the more remarkable performances ever captured on the air at Radio Memphis, comes Robert Kimbrough, Sr. This man comes from the legacy of Junior Kimbrough and carrying on of the tradition that is Cotton Patch Soul & Blues. In this episode of The Booze & Blues, Robert takes on some of his father's music as well as his own. Along the way, you will hear some of the stories around the Kimbrough family and the other families of North Mississippi. All the information on this festival plus how to get your tickets can be found at THIS LINK. Listen now.
North Mississippi Hill Country blues is a real thing. Guys like the Burnsides and Kimbroughs made it happen for the world. Carrying that sound on is Eric Deaton. Eric came into the Radio Memphis studios for an appearance on The Booze & Blues and gave a clinic on how it is supposed to sound. His band brought the noise, the studio brought the beer and the audience brought the ears. Also, Willie Hall was in attendance and passed on a few words of advice along the way.
According to Wikipedia, the Wampus Cat is a "... folkloric creature with supposed shape-shifting powers can trace its roots to Native American folklore of the South Eastern United States." From the experience of those around Radio Memphis, a Wampus Cat is one who performs with Robert Nighthawk Tooms. In this very special episode taken from 31 March, 2019 of The Booze & Blues, The band came to the studio for an evening of performance, stories and talk of their brand new CD Cheating Time. Also, some time was set aside for some kind words for a great friend, John Kilzer.
Eddie Dattel is a songwriter you need to know. Eddie and his crew at Inside Sounds have written a lot of songs. If you are a fan of Daddy Mack, you have already heard a good number of his songs. Between Eddie and Wally Ford, there have been some truly remarkable music in the Memphis scene. Not only has Eddie put together some fantastic songs for others, he has produced a tremendous collection songs called The Other Side of The Sun, which includes the songs The Art of The Deal, Doorman To see what all Eddie is involved in at Inside Sounds, go HERE. In this episode from The Booze & Blues, Eddie talks about songwriting, working with Wally and the art of recording. Plus a nice tribute to John Kilzer.
Garry Burnside has a new band. These guys are the real deal. On 10 February they came to Radio Memphis for an episode of the Booze & Blues to lay out their talents and man, did they deliver. If you missed the original broadcast, here it is. Quatavius Mason and Tate Moore (The Kudzu Kings) came and sat in the pocket for this electrifying show. Can you hear the Burnside Style in this? You'll learn how to get their new record and where they are playing next. For more, go HERE.
Acclaimed writer, documentarian and (as much as he won't admit) historian returns to the Radio Memphis studios to talk about his latest work. Memphis Rent Party. One of the very few books out there with a sound track. There is a real reason for this sound track. He talks Memphis music in such a special way, you will want to hear what he is writing about. In this edition of The Booze & Blues, Ric enlists the help of Natalie Gabel to sort out the myriad stories surrounding the historic music scene in this fantastic book. Also, there is a bit of recall of the moments Robert had with Gore Vidal in the making of Best of Enemies. You can learn more and get the books HERE.
Little Rock, Arkansas singer Charlotte Taylor finally came to the Radio Memphis studios for a great visit during the Booze & Blues show. Charlotte is a powerhouse of a singer as well as quite the entertainer. Backing her in the studio that night was Memphis Deep. This trio is quite the machine. Bob Kelsey (guitar), David Dunn (bass) and Leroy Clay (drums). They ripped through a few standards and some original material. Want to learn more about Charlotte? Go HERE.
Daddy Mack is one of those "old school" cats. He has been around a long time. In the traditional sense of the blues, he's a man who works a blue collar job as a mechanic and finds the time to sit down with his guitar ( and friends) to woodshed the blues. In this appearance which happened on February 17, he brought his guitar and his friends down for a live broadcast on the Booze & Blues show. Mack is smooth and unassuming. Modest yet forceful. His style evokes old North Mississippi stomp and delta vibes. His youthful sound reaches into the gut of the Hill Country and pulls out the "today" sound you want. In our visit he can be a bit bashful yet when his guitar turns loose, all of hell comes out and the absolute joy of the blues comes through. Here it is, his performance as raw is it should be right here.
On January 27, 2019, Brigitte Purdy came into the Radio Memphis studios for a conversation and performance during a live broadcast of The Booze & Blues. This blues singer from Los Angeles has deep roots in the blues and his heavily influenced by the Midsouth music scene. So much so, she will be making a return appearance in our studios in May as she attend the Blues Music Awards. During this broadcast, she performed to a few backing tracks to give you a good idea of what she sounds like live. She has a new single out called Blues Collar Woman available where sold. Also in this show, The Bush League from Richmond, Virginia performed live with a great conversation and some hot blues sounds from their current CD, James River. These guys have the North Mississippi sound right on down to their Virgina roots. It's all here and commercial free. Enjoy.
In this episode Ric and Jeff sat down with author Tom Graves who wrote Crossroads: The Life and Afterlife of Blues Legend Robert Johnson. They celebrated the life and times of Robert Johnson and dispelled some of the myths surrounding the legendary musician. You'll hear some of those stories and some of the music Johnson left behind. Grab a beverage and celebrate along with everyone who was in the room that night and learn why the show is called Booze & Blues. NEXT WEEK: Scott Bomar and Howard Grimes
Eddie Taylor was quite the bluesman. His story is fantastic rivaled only by his daughter, Brenda. Brenda Taylor drove to Memphis from Chicago specifically to be on the Booze & Blues show at Radio Memphis. Her childhood was something very special and she'll tell you about that in this episode. Also, she sang with the Radio Memphis Studio Orchestra. Who might that be? Willie Hall (drums), Judge Booker (bass) and Brad Webb (guitar). It was a great time and you'll get to hear all of it right here. NEXT WEEK: Tom Graves sorts out Robert Johnson
This episode is a little different. It was decided we would do a CD release show on the air at Radio Memphis during the Booze & Blues show. At Ms. Zeno's request, we are making the entire thing public including the songs from her latest CD called Back in Love. You'll hear some of the stories about how this project was recorded, how some of the songs were written and how Ms. Zeno is perched to take the world by storm as one of the premiere singers from Memphis. NEXT WEEK: Keith Douglas from Tora Tora
