Crossroads Campus is a nonprofit that uses the healing power of the human animal bond to bring hope and opportunity into the lives of young adults and to rescue homeless dogs and cats who have ended up in our city shelter. We do much of our work through our social enterprise, Crossroads Pets- Shop & Adopt. Through helping us run our pet retail store, working with our groomers, and caring for our adoptable dogs and cats our young people gain work readiness, job skills, confidence and empathy all of which are critical to their efforts to move toward sustainable futures. Upstairs from the store, we have created a pilot-scale affordable housing program, and we have found that pairing housing with employment through social enterprise is an effective way to bring stability into the lives of young adults.Giving young people the opportunity to care for homeless animals can be life changing for both. We offer those opportunities through our job-training program and our humane education outreach program, Caring Connections.     Our approach to working with young adults is comprehensive and long-term...we offer job-training, housing, and wrap around support services. Our Crossroads Pets store (social enterprise), located in Germantown, provides quality pet products and grooming services for the public, job-training and jobs for young adults who need to connect to the workforce, and adoptions for homeless dogs and cats. When people shop and groom with us the money, they spend caring for their pets helps young people and homeless pets.  We've recently launched a new social enterprise, a dog treat bakery. We're making healthy, guitar shaped, dog treats in partnership with a company called Mod Squad Mutt, and that business is growing quickly.New Initiatives: We have major expansion project underway. We purchased an acre of property in North Nashville earlier this year and that will allow us to create 22 additional units of affordable housing and to expand our social enterprise businesses so we can offer more job-training and jobs. We'll also use the new site to expand our animal welfare programs. Learn more: https://crossroadscampus.org
