August has been an incredible month for VGM lovers. I do hope you'll agree after listening to this mixtape! Also, sorry, but I had to remove all the links in the credits section. They took up too many characters, and I couldn't even write a few words to you guys. You can easily find the tracks with the IDs provided below. As we enter into the summer of 2021 I have the privilege to release this great chat with guitarist and composer Charlotte Hatherley. This episode was a long time in the making as our chat was originally scheduled for April 2020 but due to all thing global pandemic it was pushed back to earlier this year. You might know Charlotte from her time in Ash in the late 90s and early 2000s, or from her time as touring guitar player for acts such as KT Tunstall and Bat for Lashes. You might also know here for all the solo records she has put out independently as well as her more recent work composing film scores. We talk about it all as well as spend some time discussion the current state of women in the music business. It was an amazing opportunity to speak to her, I can't thank her enough for giving me the time to have this conversation. I hope you like listening to it. https://www.charlottehatherley.com/ https://www.lelandoriginals.com/composers/charlottehatherley https://twitter.com/CHatherley79 https://www.instagram.com/charlottehatherley/ Get in touch with me via: Email - behindthebusinesspod@gmail.com Twitter - https://twitter.com/dannychampion Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/danmchampion/

Discuss" - the wonderful Charlotte Hatherley and I reconvene in the kitchen to crack open a bottle of wine and do just that. We ponder the stories behind the Tin Machine project, chew over our favourite and not so favourite tracks, look at what alternatives Bowie had at the time and how the group did him a bit of good. Todays episode is possibly Chris' favorite. You probably already guessed this from the Top 5 our awesome guest chose. Who is our guest? No other than Charlotte Hatherley, singer, guitarist and songwriter extraordinaire. Charlotte started her career in Britpop giants Ash, then went on to pursue a solo career as well find time to be a touring instrumentalist for Bryan Ferry, KT Tunstall, Bat for Lashes and Birdy. Charlotte has recently been involved in the 'Space Rocks' show hitting O2 Indigo next week, which we talk about during the episode, BUT MAINLY, Chris and Charlotte go at it about 80's Sci-Fi with Stu sprinkling the conversation with lots of cool facts and stories about the movies Charlotte picked out.Enjoy, and, 'stay frosty' people. Welcome, welcome, welcome to episode 199 of the Distraction Pieces Podcast with Scroobius Pip! ONE HUNDRED AND NINETY NINE! I mean not that it’s about numbers… But it kind of is… Anyway - the energy and steam does not dissipate or dissolve as we approach the 200th, as Pip is joined this week by the inspirational and full on musical powerhouse that is Charlotte Hatherley!A lovely episode to kind of sit in on, as Pip and Charlotte talk shop on a number of topics but of course, the main one is music. A LOT of music talk… Charlotte is a seasoned pro, having played since the age of 15, and her path has seen her play alongside/in bands with Ash, KT Tunstall, Bryan Ferry (in Kazakhstan no less), Birdy, Bat For Lashes, and that’s just a couple on her long list… Through those experiences she has learned much, gems of which she drops here for us all to absorb - the effects on one’s health on a tour, label budgets and the importance of them, being female in an industry which is often very male dominated, the days before social media, the ‘no special treatment’ aspect of being on tour versus the more sensible, restful approach to it, and then it all rounds out with some full on sci-fi geekery which she and Pip TRULY nerd out on. What are YOUR thoughts on the dude from Altered Carbon? It’ll come up… Also - her 'Space Rocks' show in conjunction with the Space Agency! Crazy - you'll hear MUCH more no that one... So all in all - a feast of entertainment and wisdom for your ears, so get going immediately!––––– ––––– –––––This episode's links:• CHARLOTTE HATHERLEY on TWITTER!• CHARLOTTE HATHERLEY on THE INTERNET!• SPACE ROCKS!• 'A SIGN' video!• CHARLOTTE'S YOUTUBE CHANNEL!• SCROOBUS PIP on TWITTER!• SCROOBIUS PIP on INSTAGRAM!• SPEECH DEVELOPMENT RECORDS • DISTRACTION PIECES NETWORK on FACEBOOK• DISTRACTION PIECES NETWORK on INSTAGRAM• NEW LISTENERS TAKE NOTE!!!
