Welcome to Multiverse News, Your source for Information about all your favorite fictional universes. Last week, mere minutes after our Tuesday evening recording session, we were both delighted and disheartened when Marvel Studios dropped its “Look Ahead | Disney Plus'' trailer, which not only provided release dates, but showcased our first official look at footage, for a whopping 8 streaming projects. Here's what we learned: Box office juggernaut Deadpool & Wolverine will be available to stream on the platform beginning November 12, 2024. We already knew Daredevil: Born Again is set to begin streaming March 4, 2025, but the trailer, which was intercut with footage from the other shows, gave us our first look at the villain Muse, the return of Jon Bernthal's Punisher, as well as Bullseye, and perhaps most surprisingly the inclusion of Ms. Marvel's dad, Yusuf Khan What If Season 3 will begin streaming this December 22nd, with no word as to whether that will be a weekly or daily release, like last year. Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man will begin airing January 29th, 2025 Riri William's Ironheart makes her return beginning June 24th, 2025 Eyes of Wakanda, the animated anthology series is set for an August 6th, 2025 debut Marvel Zombies will premiere sometime in October 2025, with the live action Wonder Man series starring Yahya Abdul Mateen II arriving later that December. In a final marketing push ahead of its December 3 premiere, Lucasfilm released final art, a poster, and a new trailer for Star Wars: Skeleton Crew. The series, which is helmed by Spider-Man filmmaker Jon Watts, is an Amblin Entertainment-inspired coming of age tale that follows four youths who embark on a swashbuckling adventure with unexpected revelations. The trailer is in keeping with what we've seen from the series thus far, which is to say it feels tonally divergent from anything we've seen in Star Wars before, including new species, planets, and a synth-pop heavy score. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros is gearing up to bring the world of George R.R. Martin's Game of Thrones to the silver screen with at least one film in early development. And that's pretty much all we know – there's no creative talent attached yet, meaning no writer or director, much less any word regarding a potential time, setting, or characters that might be involved. Amazon MGM Studios is testing actors for the role of Lara Croft in Phoebe Waller-Bridge's upcoming Tomb Raider series. Sophie Turner and Lucy Boynton top Amazon's wish list, according to Deadline. Scary Movie creators Marlon, Shawn, and Keenen Ivory Wayans are reuniting after 18 years to develop a new film in the franchise for Paramount and Miramax. Kelly Macdonald, known for Boardwalk Empire and No Country for Old Men, has joined the cast of DC Studios' Lanterns. Amazon MGM Studios is developing a Jack Ryan film, continuing the series storyline with John Krasinski, Wendell Pierce, and Michael Kelly. Andrew Bernstein will direct. Early box office projections show Wicked opening at over $80 million domestically and Gladiator 2 at $65 million, both debuting on November 22. Universal Pictures and LEGO have partnered to develop three live-action LEGO films, directed by Jake Kasdan, Patty Jenkins, and Joe Cornish. Toho has officially greenlit a new Godzilla movie from the director of last year's Oscar-winning Godzilla Minus One. Amazon MGM Studios has acquired American Speed, starring Tom Holland and Austin Butler as the scandal-ridden Whittington Brothers, with Oscar-winning producer Charles Roven attached. Ridley Scott revealed to The Hollywood Reporter that he's working on a new Alien movie for 20th Century Studios, though it's unclear if it's connected to the Alien: Romulus follow-up or a standalone project. Tom Cruise is in early talks with Paramount for a Days of Thunder sequel, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

An iconic character, beloved around the world. A fairly successful box-office haul. And a creative team including Steven Moffat, Edgar Wright, Joe Cornish, Kathleen Kennedy, Peter Jackson, and Steven freakin' Spielberg!! What the hell is this movie doing on our show?! That's what we're here to figure out, as "Animation (3D)evastation" concludes with a look at The Adventures of Tintin. Sought after as a movie project by Spielberg as early as 1983, it may have taken over three decades to finally make it to the big screen, but this meant the project had time for its breathtaking motion-capture CGI technology to catch up to the visions of its filmmakers. Would those technological breakthroughs be enough to satisfy the character's global audience...and win over the less familiar American audience? And if not, why not? We discuss this and much more, as we ask the eternal question, "just what is this Tintin guy's deal, anyway?" Our Twitter Our Facebook Our Instagram Our YouTube Trev's Letterboxd Chris' Letterboxd

Make ScreenUK.org your next stop. The film that launched the careers of a Star Wars star, a Doctor, and even a DC superhero (albeit a deep cut)! Yes, that's right, we're talking about cult classic, Attack the Block, this week. For those of you who haven't had the pleasure yet (and seriously, this movie is a blast, so if you haven't seen it, go check it out right now!), Attack the Block is a 2011 science fiction/horror film written and directed by Joe Cornish and starring future Star Wars franchise hero John Boyega and historic Doctor Who star Jodie Whittaker. The film follows a group of teenagers living in a South London housing estate who defend their neighborhood from an alien invasion. So what flies and what doesn't? Well, these aliens have come from the outer reaches of space and crash-landed on Earth, with the females spreading their pheromones and attracting a horde of ferocious males from across the solar system to Earth, so Hakeem takes a look at everything from the basic concept of pheromones to how the sun's magnetic field allows for things like “solar sailing” to take place. Tamara unpacks not only the aliens themselves, but also gives everyone some background info on how the unique look of these terrifying creatures was realized onscreen. And that's only the beginning of the fun in our latest episode! Remember that you can join in on the conversation in the comments on our YouTube page, so be sure to like, subscribe, and come back for more!FURTHER READING Do you want to delve a little deeper into the facts, concepts, and stories Hakeem and Tamara referenced in today's episode? Here are a few recommendations!Pheromones“Pheromones are chemistry and biology. Chemistry and biology have something in them that physics doesn't have. Do you know what that is? Nasty! Bodily fluids and things like that.”‘Oumuamua“We know it came from outside of our solar system, for one reason only: the speed at which it was moving.”Oort cloud“There is allegedly a spherical distribution of comets called the Oort cloud that surrounds the solar system, so sometimes comets do come in from over the poles of the sun or something like that, so it's not in the plane of the orbit.”Parker Solar Probe“As far as traveling through space on solar rays, that is something that can actually be done. There's different forms of propulsion. There's electric sail propulsion. You can have a physical sail. You can have an electric sail, where you create an electric field, and because the particles streaming away from the sun and other stars are electrically charged you can get a thrust out of that. Or you can have a magnetic sail [which] is pretty clever.”Attack the Block's Aliens Were Just as Terrifying Behind the ScenesTamara gives everyone some info on alien performer Terry Notary but there's all kinds of additional fun info here for you to help fill in the blanks on just what made these creatures so convincingly scary.SUGGESTED VIEWINGAttack the Block is so much fun very much because of the unique sensibility of writer/director Joe Cornish. And first of all, we must once again ask, if you haven't seen Attack the Block yet, what are you waiting for? This movie is a treasure! Go watch!Cornish wrote (along with Edgar Wright and Stephen Moffat) 2011's criminally-underrated The Adventures of TinTin film (where's the trilogy we were promised?!?) But you can also see his influence in Marvel Studios' first Ant-Man movie (which he helped write) and Netflix's sadly gone-after-one-season Lockwood & Co. FOLLOW US!Stay in the loop! F-Stop Collaborate and Listen - A Landscape Photography Podcast

As photographers we are often trying to figure out what we should do with our photographs. Of late, it has become more popular to produce a coffee table style book to showcase our work; however, not all photography books of this style are created equal. Today's guest on the F-Stop Collaborate and Listen Podcast, Alex Nail, is one of my absolute favorite landscape photographers. He authored and produced one of my favorite photography books a few years back and now he's getting ready to release his second book, The Great Wilderness. His second book was a massive undertaking involving hundreds of miles of hiking over more than four years. Alex's dedication to the craft of landscape photography is nearly unparalleled in today's environment where editing used to make up for a lack of amazing conditions has become commonplace. On this week's episode, we discuss: How Alex's opinions have gotten him into hot water over the years and how he's adapted over time. Why Alex got involved as a co-founder of the Natural Landscape Photography Awards. Alex's approach to making photographs for his latest book. The nuts and bolts to making a high quality photography book, including color space. How much Alex's book cost and why. Alex's approach to shipping his book internationally. What to expect from Alex's book. Design considerations for a photography book. And a lot more! P.S. This week the Boys absolutely don't know anything about Marijuana at all, in any capacity, actually, so why don't you just back off and stop asking questions, 'for you get merked?? The 2004 film "Attack the Block," directed by Joe Cornish, is a unique and exhilarating blend of science fiction, action, and comedy. Set against the backdrop of a gritty London neighbourhood, the movie follows a group of streetwise teenagers who must defend their block from an alien invasion. When extra-terrestrial creatures crash into their surroundings, chaos ensues, and the unlikely heroes are thrust into a battle for their lives. "Attack the Block" masterfully combines elements of suspense and humour, drawing audiences into the characters' world and emphasizing their growth as they evolve from petty criminals to defenders of their community. The film's clever writing, charismatic performances, and unexpected twists contribute to its captivating storytelling, offering a fresh take on both alien invasion and coming-of-age themes. What sets "Attack the Block" apart is its exploration of social dynamics within a marginalised urban setting. The film doesn't shy away from addressing issues of race, class, and identity, providing a layered backdrop for the alien conflict. As the characters grapple with their own struggles and confront preconceived notions about each other, the movie takes on a deeper and more thought-provoking dimension. Alongside the thrilling action sequences, the film also finds moments of levity and camaraderie, showcasing the resilience and resourcefulness of its young protagonists. "Attack the Block" manages to seamlessly blend its genre elements with social commentary, resulting in an engaging and memorable cinematic experience that resonates beyond its extra-terrestrial premise. Have you ever wondered what it is like screenwriting inside the Marvel and Studio machine? Wonder no further, today we have screenwriter and director Joe Cornish. Joe was one of the writer's on Marvel's Ant-Man. The English comedian and filmmaker burst onto the scene in 2011 with his very successful film directorial debut, Attack The Block, starring John Boyega, who played Moses, a low-level crook, teenage gang leader, an orphan looking for respect around the block. The British sci-fi comedy horror film centers on a teenage street gang who have to defend themselves and their block from predatory alien invaders on Guy Fawkes Night.Cornish and his comedy partner, Adam Buxton form the successful duo, Adam & Joe an ironic pop culture sketch show which gained a lot of success in the UK alongside Cornish's long-term work in the UK TV entertainment industry. In 2011 he joined iconic directors, Peter Jackson and Steven Spielberg as a writer for the screenplay and story for the 3D animated action-adventure film, The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn --- co-written alongside Edgar Wright and Steven Moffat.Intrepid reporter Tintin and Captain Haddock set off on a treasure hunt for a sunken ship commanded by Haddock's ancestor. This $135 million budget film grossed $374 million at the box office and received a plethora of nominations including Oscars for Best Original Score, a Golden Globe for Best Animated Feature Film, two BAFTA nominations for Best Animated Film and Best Special Visual Effects.Cornish co-wrote the screenplay for the Marvel Comic character, Ant-Man, along with Wright, Adam McKay, and Paul Rudd in 2015.Rudd, starring as Ant-Man is armed with a super-suit with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, cat burglar Scott Lang must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym, plan and pull off a heist that will save the world. Similar to most Marvel Studio movies, the film carried a big budget of $169.3 million and grossed $519.3 million. His latest film, The Kid Who Would Be King (2019), which was written undirected by Cornish, joins a band of kids who embarks on an epic quest to thwart a medieval menace.Joe honestly, was extremely forthcoming and transparent about a lot of things; like what really happened behind the scenes on Ant-Man and what it's like to write inside the Marvel machine, working with filmmaking legends like Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson. And we also discuss his craft, how he approaches screenwriting and directing, and much more.Enjoy this conversation with Joe Cornish.
