Czy można nagrać epicką płytę, nie mając planu, dostępnego studia nagraniowego ale mając kamerę, siedząc sobie w hotelu? Love Guitar Smarts and want to get in touch with us? Send us a Text HERE!Greetings! Welcome back to the podcast! It's been quite some time since we released an episode of the show, due to a unplanned break. Our wonderful host and friend Kiran had to take a break to recover from a very unexpected health issue but we are so glad to say he is recovering well. Whilst he takes the time to concentrate on his recovery, our good friend Damo Lodrick has stepped into his rather large shoes, to help us bring the show back for regular service in 2025. In this episode we talk about modelling, valve amps, tone in general, modern music and the social media generation, and much more! Hope you enjoy and see you on the next one! This time around, we found Wong with his Fearless Flyers pals sticking in one spot, at Cory Wong's Syncopated Summer Camp. The four-day, four-night summit, held in Nashville, brought together ace players like Ariel Posen, Larry Carlton, and Theo Katzman to offer clinics on all things rhythm. Aside from the camp, Wong and his fellow guitar Flyer, Mark Lettieri, both had new releases to celebrate: Lettieri's recent solo record, Can I Tell You Something?, dropped in July, and Wong's Live in London and Starship Syncopation came out in May and July, respectively—plus, the Flyers' new EP was released in February. Both Lettieri and Wong toured us through the guitar gear they brought along for the camp. Welcome back! On this episode of the Guitar Smarts podcast, Kiran has tagged in our good friend and previous guest Mr Damo Lodrick to provide some valuable insight on the importance of training your ears. Music is something we experience in many ways, and often we find ourselves moved by things we hear but do not necessarily understand. Matt & Damo are here today to help you understand why it is a valuable endeavour to learn more about why music does this, and to train our ears to better understand the relationship between what we hear, how it makes us feel, and what is really happening in the nitty gritty of music theory. This week we have a short episode for you - shorter than usual at least. We had the pleasure of sitting down with Guitar Breaks founder, Ian Edwards, at the London International Guitar Show in late October. Guitar Breaks are a company that specialise in all-inclusive guitar workshops offering you the opportunity to get away from it all, explore different techniques and skills, discover new styles, hone your own playing style and experiment with great equipment. All in the presence of some Pro Guitar Players, and top educators. Their list of pro player guest hosts speaks volumes, recently including people like Matt Schofield, Josh Smith, Ariel Posen, Joel Landreth, Jack Rush, Pete Friesen, Charlotte Hatherley, Chris Buck, Rabea Massaad, Mike Goodman and many more. Ian has a real passion for the musician community and the opportunities he creates to connect guitarists with the professional community are second to none, these events and clinics are not to be missed.https://www.guitar-breaks.com/For links to all our important stuff, check out our LinkTree...https://linktr.ee/guitarsmartsRemember to please subscribe wherever you listen to your podcasts, and come to see us on our social media channels below:https://www.facebook.com/Guitarsmartshttps://www.instagram.com/guitar_smarts/Have a very merry time playing guitar this week, and we will see you soon!Support the show
Posłuchajcie jak Kuba opowiada o pierwszym dniu koncertów jedynego w swoim rodzaju festiwalu muzycznego jakim jest Crossroads Guitar Festival. muzyka: Łukasz WojciechowskiZachęcamy też do śledzenia naszego profilu na Facebooku - https://www.facebook.com/PickPlease/oraz Instagramie - https://tiny.pl/cxk21 LINKOWNIA:Wikipedia:Bill Murray - https://tiny.pl/clflr Profile artystów na Spotify:Eric Clapton - https://tiny.pl/clfj9 Gary Clark Jr - https://tiny.pl/clfjd Josh Smith - https://tiny.pl/clfj5 Sonny Landreth - https://tiny.pl/clfj1 Artur Menezes - https://tiny.pl/clfjp Kurt Rosenwinkel - https://tiny.pl/clfj4 Joe Bonamassa - https://tiny.pl/clfj8 The Wallflowers - https://tiny.pl/clfpq Jimmie Vaughan - https://tiny.pl/clfpm John Mayer Trio - https://tiny.pl/clfpt Ariel Posen - https://tiny.pl/clfp9 Christone “Kingfish” Ingram - https://tiny.pl/clfpc John McLaughlin - https://tiny.pl/clfpf Nathan East - https://tiny.pl/clfp5 The Del McCoury Band - https://tiny.pl/clfpb Cindy Cashdollar - https://tiny.pl/clfpj Jesse Cook - https://tiny.pl/clf4q Todd Wolfe - https://tiny.pl/clf4w The Zac Schulze Band - https://tiny.pl/clf47 Bradley Walker - https://tiny.pl/clf4h The Bros. To celebrate the release of the wonderful new album 'Healing Power', celebrated indie singer-songwriter Terra Lightfoot joins JrodconcertsL The Podcast for a conversation that explores her early experiences in both writing and music. On this episode of MyFi we welcome Ariel Posen. He is one of the most amazing and prolific guitarists of this era. He's played and recorded with an array of amazing artists like The Bros. Landreth, Butch Walker, Cory Wong, Lizzy McAlpine, and Tom Jones. But he's not only an amazing guitarist, he's an incredible singer-songwriter and artist in his own right. His new album “Reasons Why” just released and it is fantastic. Jump in this conversation where we talk about releasing the record in the middle of a tour, the fact that some times you have to strip a piece of art back to it's bones to get it right, and how deadlines just don't help him make his best art. Many first knew Ariel Posen as the mind-bendingly gifted guitar player with fellow Winnipeg act, The Bros. Landreth. Over the years, he's lent his six-string talents to a wildly eclectic array of artists, ranging from John Mayer to Tom Jones. Ariel Posen's international stature as a rising guitar star became so substantial that it came as something of a surprise to many when in 2019, he put out his own debut album as a singer-songwriter, How Long. Ariel's solo career, which initially began as a side project for this guitar ace, quickly became his full-time occupation. His work as a recording artist combines his guitar wizardry with a penchant for biting, heart-on-sleeve lyrics and a sweet, soulful voice. Over the course of several solo LPs and EPs now, Ariel's unerring knack for timeless grooves and melodies has continued to evolve and his music now connects with audiences around the world. The September 2023 release of his third full-length album Reasons Why sees him headlining tours all across North America and Europe. The autumn leg of this trek was kick-started by a massive show in Los Angeles, where Ariel was among the luminaries playing at Eric Clapton's legendary all-star guitar-centric concert series Crossroads. And from there, the tour took Ariel straight to Alberta, where he took some time to drop by CKUA studios, guitar in hand, to talk about his meteoric rise, sharing the stage with guitar gods, and his inspired brand-new album. In this solo session among the stacks of records in CKUA's storied music library, Ariel shared a wide-ranging conversation and very intimate, stripped-down performances of songs from the new record. Producer: Scott Zielsdorf | Host: Grant Stovel | Graphics: Shaun Friesen | Music: Doug Hoyer Sound mixing for this session provided by Duke Paetz.
Mere hours after he rocked one the world's biggest arenas as part of Eric Clapton's Crossroads Guitar Festival, ARIEL POSEN plugs in with us at his Los Angeles hotel room and demonstrates his singular sound, including the way he gets soaring slide notes out of a hollow, steel-bodied, Strat-shaped baritone from Mule Resophonic Guitars, and how he "tortures circuits" to make fuzz pedals sing. The Canadian guitar hero also offers a deep dive into several songs off his new album, REASONS WHY. Hosted by JUDE GOLD. This episode is presented gy Guitar Player magazine and guitarplayer.com

The Sept 9 Mulligan Stew has a special guest – Ariel Posen. He's just achieving liftoff in his career but there's absolutely no denying he has a profile arc heading up. A session guitarist in Winnipeg (I saw him as the second guitarist in Bros. Landreth. If Ariel is playing beside Joey Landreth and more than holding his own, you know he is good) He began his career quietly showcasing new guitars online for the companies making them. He had no idea the effect he was having on the guitar and music fans of the world, especially in Europe. So. when he finally decided to start his solo career and released his first album How Long (2019) Ariel was gobsmacked to find a ready and willing audience in Europe and across Canada, then in the USA. Then came Headway, Mile End, Mile End 2, Familiar Ground, the Downtown EP and just now Reasons Why. He's touring Canada Sept 26th in Calgary Sept 27 in Edmonton Sept 28 in Saskatoon Sept 29 Winnipeg (home town) BUT FIRST – On Sept 23 he performs at the 2023 Eric Clapton Crossroads Festival in LA. Also invited by Eric are The Bros. Landreth. Also from Winnipeg.
Zach and Rhett kick things off with a catch-up on recent projects. Rhett celebrates his new 100 watt Two Rock Classic Reverb Signature, which recently terrorized a couple sitting in the front row of one of his gigs. Then guitarist Ariel Posen logs on to, first and foremost, clear up how to pronounce his name. He gives a quick tutorial: just say guitar, add “ee” and “ell,” then take out the “guit” sound.Posen and Rhett swap horror stories from working on film sets, where they were expected to do way more than their job descriptions covered. Both agree that the film life is infinitely worse than touring. “I don't know shit!” protests Posen. “I'm just a guitar player, dude!”Posen discusses how he got into playing slide in standard tuning by learning George Harrison leads (blues slide guitar was never his thing), but Canadian guitarist Kevin Breit inspired him to try open tunings, a process with “a lot of trial by fire, lots of, ‘oops, sorry!'” Blake Mills' 2014 record Heigh Ho prompted Posen to chase lower tunings, although Korn, Limp Bizkit, and Big Wreck lit that same candle years earlier. For the open tuning-curious, Posen suggests starting in open E.Posen talks about how he wrote his new record, and the honesty and simplicity behind his favorite lyricists like Jason Isbell. Finally, the trio dig into how to stack and squeeze the best sounds from your fuzz pedals. (Is a mini version of the Mythos Argo fuzz pedal coming? Zach doesn't say yes—but he doesn't say no, either.) Finally, the crew dips a slick Americana rig that draws a trio of impressive scores.Subscribe, like, and leave us a comment!Big thanks to Sweetwater for sponsoring this episode. The man, the myth, the guitar legend Ariel Posen has returned to the podcast for the third time! On this episode we dissect the idea of what makes up a "real song". Is one method of creation more valid than another? Does improvisation count as songwriting? Does more time spent on a project mean that more people will appreciate it? Canadian alt-country group the Bros. Landreth have become known for bringing not just layers of blues, rock, and eclectic modern influence to the traditional country sound, but for Joey Landreth's depth as a guitarist and stunning tone on the instrument.Built on a lifetime of brothers Joey and Dave's absorbing classic country music, the band was launched with the release of 2013's Let It Lie, through which they not-long-after made a mark on the scene when the album garnered a JUNO Award for Roots and Traditional Album of the Year in 2015. Following the release of 2019's '87, the group later received another major accolade when Bonnie Raitt covered Let It Lie's “Made Up Mind” on her 2022 release, Just Like That…While the original lineup included drummer Ryan Voth and pianist Alex Campbell, and the band has toured with guitarist Ariel Posen, the brothers have since taken a step back from the larger band arrangement to lead as a duo. Their latest, 2022's Coming Home, spotlights the two in that dynamic, while featuring a few backing players.Joey Landreth hung with John Bohlinger and the PG team before the Bros. Landreth's show at Nashville's Riverside Revival, where Landreth played some mind-blowing guitar and demoed his unique method for reproducing his studio sound live.Brought to you by D'Addario String Finder.Mentioned in this episode:Shred With ShiftyDid you ever wonder how the most epic guitar solos of our time were crafted? KingTone's The Duellist is currently Ariel Posen's most-used pedal. One side of the dual drive (the Bluesbreaker voicing) is always on. But there's another duality at play when Posen plugs in—the balance between songwriter and guitarist.“These days, I like listening to songs and the story and the total package,” Posen told PG back in 2019, when talking about his solo debut, How Long, after departing from his sideman slot for the Bros. Landreth. “Obviously, I'm known as a guitar player, but my music and the music I write is not guitar music. It's songs, and it goes back to the Beatles. I love songs, and I love story and melody and singing, and there was a lot of detail and attention put into the guitar sound and the playing and the parts—almost more than I've ever done.”And in 2021, he found himself equally expressing his yin-and-yang artistry by releasing two albums that represented both sides of his musicality. First, Headway continued the sultry sizzle of songwriting featured on How Long. Then he surprised everyone, especially guitarists, by dropping Mile End, which is a 6-string buffet of solo dishes with nothing but Ariel and his instrument of choice. But what should fans expect when they see him perform live? “I just trust my gut. I can reach more people by playing songs, and I get moved more by a story and lyrics and harmony, so that's where I naturally go. The live show is a lot more guitar centric. If you want to hear me stretch out on some solos, come see a show. I want the record and the live show to be two separate things.”The afternoon ahead of Posen's headlining performance at Nashville's Basement East, the guitar-playing musical force invited PG's Chris Kies on stage for a robust chat about gear. The 30-minute conversation covers Posen's potent pair of moody blue bombshells—a hollow, metal-bodied Mule Resophonic and a Fender Custom Shop Jazzmaster—and why any Two-Rock is his go-to amp. He also shares his reasoning behind avoiding effects loops and volume pedals.Brought to you by D'Addario XPND Pedalboard.
I had the wonderful chance to discuss with one of my favorite artist, @ArielPosen ! We discussed about his music and composition approach. A tons of advices to learn from him
With a unique approach to the guitar, Adam Miller's music is groovy and approachable, whilst having a melodic sophistication that only comes from years of cross genre hopping. His inclusion of complex rhythms and dissonant haunting phrases, combined with breathtaking riffs and melodies are his signature. His jazz influenced style with finger-picking mastery creates a improvisation filled live performance that is beautifully unpredictable. This has seen him share stages with Les Paul, Tommy Emmanuel, Matt Schofield, Russell Morris, Charlie Hunter, Adam Levy, Ariel Posen, Tony McManus, Ben Gillies (Silverchair), and more!I hope you all enjoy this episode as much as I did! Ariel Posen is the guest. I've spent a lot of time attempting to describe who he is and what he does. -Winnipeg born now Montreal. Became the go-to guy for guitar work. ..precise vocal harmonies – and very interesting songs. I still can't explain what he does with the guitar, that is until you hear him play. WOW. He came to prominence with The Bros. Landreth then went solo. Latest EP is Downtown. Releases Mid July but we have several tracks for you. Anyway. Because I can't do the man and his playing justice I'll leave you with some quotes from his last tour in the UK 2020. Possibly the best guitar solo I've heard in 12 years of owning a music venue! Keep Watching! 2,420,174 views Feb 5, 2020, Canadian guitarist, singer, producer Ariel Posen played at Fat Lil's in Witney, UK on Tuesday 4th February 2020. I knew he'd be good because he used to be in Brothers Landreth, but didn't expect to hear this incredible, dynamic solo. Combining slide techniques, finger picking, dissonance and a fuzz tone to die for. It builds and builds. I was totally blown away! And I think it is possibly the best (to my taste) I've heard in all the years of owning the club I've been playing guitar for 15 years and not once have I ever played one of those notes. What a pro. This kind of style is the future of rock. Don't get me wrong, I love a good ole CCR riff. However, today's scene can barely keep up with consistently putting out new and original content. These are the kinds of brave and avant-garde performances that will be shaping the guitarists of tomorrow. This dude HAS IT That's a modern-day Jimi Hendrix experience right there! Thanks for sharing

Ghost Hounds, Half My FaultBonnie Raitt, Green LightsLos Lobos, Every Boy, Every GirlThe Nils, That's AlrightBrinsley Schwarz, Storm In The HillsBrinsley Schwarz, He takes your breath awayBishop Gunn, Nothing To LoseAriel Posen, Did You See It ComingNathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats, SurvivorCruzados, Long Black CarDeb Ryder, Just Be CarefulDeb Ryder, I'm Coming HomeDirty Honey, The WireChris Stapleton, Nothing Else Matter Visita nuestro Facebook y déjanos tus peticiones, comentarios, canciones...O escríbenos un email aquí.

I Just Want To Celebrate⦁ Mike Zito, I'll Make Love To You ⦁ The Damn Truth, This Is Who We Are Now⦁ Ellis Mano Band, Keep It Simple⦁ Robert Jon and the Wreck, Shine A Light On Me Brother⦁ Steve Marriner, How High ⦁ Zach Person, Can't Stop Running ⦁ Ariel Posen, Did You See It Coming⦁ Arielle, Peace Of Mind⦁ Bob Corritore & Friends, Don't Mess With The Messer (feat. “... I put my head down, and I kinda feel like I've never looked back up. I just played, I woke up. Played, listened, learned. It was just music, guitar ‘till I went to bed. I'd be eating dinner with the guitar on.” -- Ariel Posen This week on Plus One, Kraz is joined by guitarist and singer Ariel Posen, who just released his second solo album, Headway, in March. In this episode Ariel details his musical development from the time he started playing piano in elementary school, up until the spontaneous moment when he realized that he was a full-time touring musician. You'll also hear Ariel talk about recording his latest album at the same studio that his parents used to record at, and at the end of the episode he and Kraz nerd out about guitar, as they dive deep on Ariel's guitars, open tunings, and slide playing. Ariel Posen is a Canadian guitarist and singer from Winnipeg who gained initial recognition from fans and critics after releasing his debut solo album, How Long, in 2019. Ariel grew up surrounded and infatuated by music, as his parents toured and recorded in a folk band called Finjan. His soulful songs, unique slide style, and experimentation with alternate guitar tunings make him as distinguished as any young guitarist out there, and in this conversation you'll hear him and Kraz talk about what makes his playing stand out. Ariel's sophomore studio album, Headway, can be listened to here. This podcast is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you get your podcasts. Israel Nash is a singer songwriter from Dripping Springs TX. His new album was produced by Adrain Quesada of the Black Pumas, and recorded at Israel’s home in Texas. The album has an ethereal and mystical sound that draws you in. His lyrics are thoughtful, and arranged in a way that draws out the somber tones of the music. I had a chance to chat with him about this album, his songs, and what he’s been up to during the pandemic.

Guitar great/singer-songwriter Ariel Posen just released a new album, Headway. On this week's Fretboard Journal Podcast, we talk to Posen about the making of the album, the art of cowriting (and how it's changed in the pandemic), why he loves his Two-Rock amplifiers, and his current gear lineup. Posen recounts his early infatuation with slide guitar, thanks to the music of George Harrison, Ry Cooder and Kevin Breit (who we interviewed during on FJ Podcast ep. 304). We also chat about why he's begun to love Jazzmasters, why he prefers modern guitars over vintage, and much more. Ariel Posen is an admitted guitar-for-hire. I discovered him through the music of The Bros Landreth. Joey and David were the first to take me aside and say “watch that guy…he’s much more than a guitar player.” And so we arrive at that moment when Ariel steps out with his second solo album Headway. His songs. His band. His voice. Pure Posen And just like the Bros. he already had a growing and established audience in Europe.. He lived in Cork, Ireland for years, toured all over that part of the world. Many in his audience discovered his playing when he regularly demo’d guitars for a large music chain. They had no idea he also sang and wrote his own music. All the fans and fan mags knew was – he was a great guitar player. We found Ariel now living in Montreal. You’re going to love this guy. A chat with the super talented guitarist and songwriter Mark Lavengood as well as fans Steve, Jacob, and Rick. We talk about how the fans discovered Mark Lavengood. Our stories ramble into how Mark has been making the best of the pandemic and his new studio. We get into Mark’s soundtrack to life and leap into playing the dobro. We wrap things up with our dream show venue and who we want to see there. Along the way, we share many laughs.Becoming a fan of Mark LavengoodWe kicked off our chat by exploring how the fans became fans of Mark Lavengood. Steve became a fan through his work on the tech crew at the Ark. He had the pleasure of working during several performances by Mark.. The first time was during the Erin Zindle (Ebird & Friends) holiday show when Mark was with Lindsay Lou and the Flatbellys. Steve fell in love with Mark’s playing and energy on stage. He’s been a fan ever since.Jacob became a fan of Mark’s when he saw him at a Rob Reiderr basement show when Mark was playing with Lindsay Lou. Jacob continued with a happy accident ordering Mark Lavengood’s No Part of Nothin album thinking he was getting a Lindsay Lou album. Despite the initial surprise when spinning the disc, Jacob loved the album and looks forward to more from Mark Lavengood.Rick became a fan through me (Chuck). He went to a show at the Chelsea Alehouse for one of their Wednesday night bluegrass sessions where Mark was jamming with Jason Dennie of Thunderwude. After seeing Mark live, he became an instant fan.Handling the PandemicThe pandemic has been a bit of a forced sabbatical for Mark. He is keeping busy by working on his new house in Coral, Michigan which is about 30 minutes north of Grand Rapids. Mark is also doing live streams, some outdoor socially distanced shows, and working on his new studio.Mark’s children have been helping him out around the house. They are enjoying making music with Dad. Check out the videos on Mark’s Facebook page for a taste of the fun.Home StudioMark is jazzed to get his new studio up and running. He has converted the detached garage on his property into a studio with a control room, isolation booth, and live room. While there are some tweaks to be made, the work is nearly complete. In fact, Mark used the new studio to lay down some guest tracks on the new Desmond Jones albumI asked if the new studio is an extension of his Bear Mark Productions. Mark relayed that Bear Mark is more about booking and promotion currently. Unfortunately, with the pandemic, this aspect of his livelihood is on hold until we get live music rolling again (hopefully later in 2021).Working From HomeBeing able to spend more time at home allows Mark to focus not only on family, but on dialing in his playing and his overall performance. It is difficult to get others together to jam, but this opportunity to work on recording and songwriting makes the downtime from the road rewarding. One new goal is writing a new song a week and using that as another avenue to keep his fans on Patreon engaged. Ultimately, Mark would like to expand the studio to record other artists on a variety of projects.Jacob was curious what Mark is using to record in the studio. Mark mentioned that currently he is recording via Logic into his iMac. Mark is in the process of picking up a Universal Audio Apollo recording interface which will provide an array of plug-ins to expand the versatility of his studio.Getting into the DobroSteve was interested in how Mark got into playing the dobro. Mark started out in middle school and the first year of high school band. However, at the time, being a wrestler was his focus. Mark got back into music playing drums. A friend asked him to jam in his senior year in a band called Frisco Denaro.Mark’s first serious band started out with some friends playing together on acoustic guitars. He met up with Bed Fidler to create music for winter/sessions. In that band, Ben offered Mark his resonator guitar and he fell in love with the instrument. The band morphed into the self proclaimed “Rebels of Folk Grass”. Mark then got into the slide playing of Joe Wilson and Drew Howard. Mark did a great tour with Joe and Drew called Dobros Heal The World.Steve asked if Mark still has his Mule. He does, although he may need to sell it to make ends meet. A reminder to all our music fans that artists are hurting due to the pandemic. If you can buy music and merchandise during this tough time, it will go a long way to helping out.Mark’s Soundtrack to LifeEarlier, Mark mentioned the term “folk-grass” to describe the blending of genres that he started in winter/sessions. This hybrid of Americana continued with Lindsay Lou and ultimately within his solo work. Rick really dug that term and was curious how Mark got interested in the variety of music he enjoys and performs.Throughout Mark’s life, the soundtrack to his life has evolved. This soundtrack includes a variety of sounds from Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin to Bruce Springsteen. Mark’s first CD was a single by Snoop Dog “It’s a Doggy Dog World” which got him into west coast rap along with artists Bone Thugs-N-Harmony.Growing up, Mark’s brother played drums which influenced him to start off with drums. In addition, Mark’s dad is a guitar player and classic rock connoisseur. While there were guitars in the house, Mark didn’t tackle the instrument until he was a senior in high school. This would be the time he started playing with his buddy Ben (which eventually led to winter/sessions). It was during this time frame that Mark got into folk, bluegrass and bands like The Grateful Dead and Bela Fleck. The current soundtrack to Mark’s world when he isn’t making his own, is in Spanish. He is a big fan of Andres Calamaro. Mark feels his songwriting is impeccable. Favorite TuningsJacob was curious about what tunings Mark uses, hoping the question wasn’t too nerdy. Mark confirmed it was definitely nerdy, but given that most of us on this episode of Fans With Bands are guitar nerds, it’s all good. The dobro is tuned to open G (GBDGBD). However, Mark likes Open D or capo to an Open E to spice things up. On his 8 string slides Mark uses a C6 tuning. Hit up Mark for a full guitar lesson if you want to dive more into tunings.Drop Everything ArtistSteve wanted to know if there was a particular artist or group that Mark would drop everything to jam with. Mark laughed saying there are so many. At the top of the list is Billy Strings. Having had the opportunity to see Mark open up for Billy Strings and join him on stage, I can attest to this being a musical moment to savor.Mark would love to collaborate with artists in South and Central America given his love for the music from the region. In the course of our conversation, Mark shared that he has tons of ideas and is working pulling them together with an artist from Uruguay.Dream Show Wrap UpTo wrap-up our chat with Mark Lavengood, I asked everyone where they would love to go see (or play a show) and who they would see. Mark would be down with seeing and opening for Tedeschi Trucks at Red Rocks in Colorado. Jacob would love to be attending and performing at the Wheatland Music Festival in Michigan.Mark stole Steve’s idea of Red Rocks, so Steve shifted to The Caverns in Tennessee to see a show by Ariel Posen with Joey Landreth. Rick would love to check out a show at the legendary Ryman Auditorium in Nashville perhaps with Jason Isbell. For my part, I’d love to see Mark and Sturgill Simpson jam in my living room. In all seriousness Sturgill, if you need a mandolin or dobro player on your next tour, call up our friend Mark Lavengood.Dig into the stories, laughs, and much more in this episode of Fans With Bands with Mark Lavengood. Robert Jones, Sr. is a native Detroiter and an inspirational storyteller and musician celebrating the history, humor, and power of American Roots music. His deep love for traditional African American and American traditional music is shared in live performances that interweave timeless stories with original and traditional songs. For more than thirty years Robert has entertained and educated audiences of all ages in schools, colleges, libraries, union halls, prisons, churches, and civil rights organizations. At the heart of his message is the belief that our cultural diversity tells a story that should celebrate, not just tolerate.Acclaimed photographer James Fraher writes about Robert: “Perhaps the world’s most highly educated blues musician, an ordained minister, a longtime DJ, and a living encyclopedia of blues history, the Reverend Robert Jones is comfortable among juke joint loud talkers, fancy-hatted church ladies, and PhDs alike."About Jeff:Jeff McErlain is one of the rare musicians who can teach as well as he plays. This is borne out by Jeff being one of the most in demand guitar instructors as well as performing and recording with Robben Ford.Jeffs unique curriculum and method of teaching is perfect for the player who has been working at the guitar for a while but wants to go to the next level. Jeff has a straight forward and easy rapport with his students, he breaks things down so they can be easily understood, applied, and most importantly, made fun.Music is a language and learning it can be approached in much the same way one would learn to speak a new language. Jeffs years of experience has helped him develop a three point teaching approach. It consists of Vocabulary, Repertoire, and Practical Fingerboard Knowledge. This three point method gives the student a clear path to learning and playing the blues and blues rock. This approach has also earned him a loyal base of students. Jeff is also one of TrueFires popular instructors with over 30 courses under his belt.Jeffs latest CD NOW features Robben Ford on all tracks. Robben also produced the cd. Robben chose Jeff to launch his new label. Jeff subsequently toured as a member of Robbens band performing both of their music. Fortunately for students of guitar, Massimo is also a very skilled and prolific educator who possesses that rare ability to be able to communicate sophisticated musical concepts in a very clear and accessible manner that transcends language barriers.About ArielA lifelong musician, there are few roles Ariel Posen hasn't played.Although born in Winnipeg, Posen spent much of his childhood on the road, traveling from show to show with his musician parents. He began playing guitar at 9 years old, kicking off a career that eventually found him traveling the globe for his own gigs, including shows as a member of the Juno Award-winning, roots-rock band The Bros. Landreth. Several years later, Posen began working on an album of his own, tracking his new songs in the same studio in which his parents once recorded their albums. How Long marks Posen's long-awaited solo debut, showcasing not only his chops as an instrumentalist but his talents as a diverse songwriter, too. The record casts a wide net, moving from rootsy blues to R&B to melodic rock & roll. A co-writer and producer for artists of all genres, Posen shows the full range of his talents on these 10 tracks, nodding to his influences — including The Beatles and many more — along the way. How Long is not a guitar record, although there's certainly plenty of guitar to be heard here. Instead, it's a song record, filled with hooks, autobiographical lyrics, and Posen's compelling voice."The guitar is the tool to get the music out," he says. "Always serve the song first. Otherwise, you're just playing an instrument.”About Vicki:Every now and then an artist comes along whose music reaches out and touches the soul of all who hear them. Virtuoso guitarist, singer and composer Vicki Genfan is among those artists. Drawing from folk, jazz, pop, soul and world music, Vicki is redefining 'singer/songwriter culture.' With a mastery of the acoustic guitar that borders on pure alchemy, audiences are mesmerized by the waves of sound Vicki creates with just two hands and her voice. Using 29 alternate tunings and the percussive technique she calls 'slap-tap', you'll find the addition of her pure, expressive vocals that dig deep and stir the heart to be the perfect accompaniment on many of her songs. An evening with Vicki is far more than a concert; stories, warmth and humor come gift wrapped in an unforgettable evening of music that leaves the audience always wanting more.
