We all know that we should use public transport more but there's nothing fun about being left on the side of the road when you're trying to catch a bus. Bill Hickman headed to the streets to ask people if you have to wave to get that bus to stop.

Her first week of high school, she was terrified to take the city bus alone. She didn't know where to get off. She didn't trust herself not to miss the stop. And in her mind, one wrong move meant being lost on the South Side with no idea what to do next. That's when an older woman appeared — calm, familiar, and oddly attentive. She asked the right questions, gave the exact directions she needed, and somehow kept showing up again… and again… always at the exact moments the girl felt most nervous. At first it felt like kindness. Like a guardian. Like the kind of neighbor your parents used to know. Until the day her mother said something that made her stomach drop: there was no one else getting off the bus. And suddenly, she wasn't sure whether she'd been helped… or followed. #RealGhostStories #TrueGhostStory #ParanormalPodcast #GhostStory #ChicagoStories #SouthSideChicago #GuardianSpirit #HauntedEncounter #CreepyButWholesome #UnexplainedMystery Love real ghost stories? Six civilians were killed and 20 injured when two Palestinian gunmen opened fire at Jerusalem's Ramot Junction bus stop, sending commuters running in terror. The BBC Radio 5 show Great Football Songbook, hosted by Colin Murray and Pat Nevin, welcomed Billy Grant from Beesotted for an in-depth look at the stories behind Brentford's most iconic chants. The episode spent a while talking about the legendary Chomp bar story (read the tale here) – a quirky tradition from the terraces where fans famously threw Chomp chocolate bars onto the pitch celebrating a goal, a playful and chaotic moment that perfectly captured the fun-loving spirit of the Bees' supporters. Billy went into great detail, exploring how this cheap sweet treat became a symbol of terrace mischief and fan camaraderie. But the show wasn't just about songs. Billy also reflected on the character of Brentford as a club. For years, the Bees languished in the lower leagues, often producing middling football. Yet, rather than being a hindrance, this shaped a unique club identity. Matchday activities, terrace rituals, and writing original, tongue-in-cheek songs became central to the fan experience — almost a form of gallows humour that allowed supporters to revel in their passion despite modest results on the pitch.Among the highlights discussed were the origins of “Hey Jude” in the terraces, the curious tale of the “Bus Stop in Hounslow”, and the legendary “Bees Up Fulham Down”. Billy also paid homage to Brentford heroes like Danny Boxhall, explaining why he remains the greatest full-back in the club's history.Through it all, the episode painted a vivid picture of how Brentford fans, and their songs, have helped define the club's personality — proving that football culture is often as much about the terraces as it is about the pitch. The full episode is available to listen back on BBC Sounds. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

In October 2024, 17-year-old Fatima Ali was attacked at her Washington bus stop in what prosecutors called an attempted honor killing. Fatima testified that her father, Ihsan, choked her until she blacked out—while her mother, Zahraa, allegedly joined in. Only a U.S. Army veteran's quick action stopped the assault. But before trial, the judge barred the jury from hearing about past threats, abuse, or the alleged motive. With key context off the table, jurors saw only the attack—not the bigger picture. Ihsan was acquitted of attempted murder. Zahraa was convicted only of violating a protective order.Would the verdict have changed if the jury heard everything?Follow True Crime Recaps for weekly cases where the truth in court isn't always the whole story.

Few voices in rock history are as instantly recognizable as Allan Clarke, the co-founder and lead singer of the iconic British band The Hollies. With a career that spans more than six decades, Allan's soaring vocals, heartfelt delivery, and unforgettable harmonies have become synonymous with the golden age of classic rock and the British Invasion. Known for timeless hits like He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother, Long Cool Woman (In a Black Dress), and Bus Stop, Allan's legacy as a rock legend is as vibrant today as it was in the 1960s.He was born Harold Allan Clarke n Salford, England. As a child, Allan developed a passion for music, drawing inspiration from early rock 'n' roll icons like Elvis, Buddy Holly, and Little Richard. His friendship with Graham Nash—who would later go on to fame with Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young—proved to be the foundation for one of the most beloved bands of all time.In 1962, Clarke and Nash formed The Hollies, a name inspired by their mutual admiration for Buddy Holly. The band's signature sound, marked by bright guitar riffs, tight vocal harmonies, and Allan's powerful yet soulful voice, quickly captured the attention of the British music scene. By '63, The Hollies were signed to the same label as The Beatles. The Hollies scored their first major hit with Stay in '63, but it was songs like Bus Stop and Carrie Anne that cemented their status as hitmakers. Allan Clarke's voice was the emotional core of The Hollies, effortlessly blending pop sensibilities with the raw energy of rock. One of Allan's most defining vocal performances came with the release of He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother in '69. Featuring a young Elton John on piano, the song became a global anthem of brotherhood and compassion. In '72, The Hollies had another worldwide hit with Long Cool Woman , a track that still dominates classic rock radio playlists today. While Allan's legacy is firmly rooted in his work with The Hollies, he also pursued a solo career, releasing several solo albums that blended rock, folk, and country influences.Allan Clarke temporarily left The Hollies in '71 but returned in '73. His second departure in '99 marked what many assumed was the end of his career due to vocal health issues. In 2019, he made a remarkable comeback with his album Resurgence. The project marked his first solo release in decades and proved that his voice still carried the same warmth and emotion that defined his early work. Allan also collaborated with his old friend Graham Nash . His recent work bridges the gap between classic rock nostalgia and modern storytelling. The Hollies, with Allan Clarke at the helm, have sold over 60 million records worldwide and remain one of the most successful groups to emerge from the '60s.Their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame was a long-overdue recognition of their influence on generations of musicians and fans. Today, Allan Clarke stands as a bridge between the early days of rock ‘n' roll and the present. His journey from the streets of Salford to international stardom with The Hollies is a testament to the enduring power of great music, determination, and collaboration. For classic rock fans, Allan Clarke's voice is not just a sound — it's a memory, an era, and a feeling rolled into one.Whether you're revisiting He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother, grooving to Long Cool Woman, or discovering Clarke's latest music, there's no denying his place in the pantheon of classic rock legends. Join us today as Allan Clarke shares stories of his rise to fame, his friendship with Graham Nash and what the music of The Hollies means to him.

In this “At the Bus Stop” episode, Dr. Jared Stacy, a theologian and ethicist, joins Johnna and Jay to unpack the link between conspiracy theories, Christian nationalism, and the culture of abuse within white evangelical spaces. Drawing from his personal experience and academic research, Jared explores how storytelling shapes power, how conspiracy theories thrive in religious communities, and why many churches prioritize maintaining societal structures over faithful witness. The conversation also delves into the dehumanizing effects of disinformation, the role of the church in rural America, and what it means to follow Jesus in a moment of cultural and political disreality.
