Wesigned CB Tre Herndon III, also known as Willie Herndon, but called "Tre" since he is the third in his family with that name. Herndon, who stands at 5'11" and weighs 190 lbs, is 28 years old. He was brought in for a workout with the team before securing a contract. An undrafted free agent out of Vanderbilt, Herndon initially signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2018. In the 2024 season, Herndon played 16 games, starting 4, and recorded 46 tackles, 9 pass deflections, 1 forced fumble, 1 tackle for loss, and 3 quarterback hits, earning a 70.8 PFF grade. Over his six-year career, all with the Jaguars, he played in 83 games, starting 34. Herndon completed his initial three-year contract with the Jaguars and then signed three consecutive one-year contracts with the team. Giants Mini CampMini camp saw several players sidelined due to injuries. Right tackle Evan Neal (ankle), cornerback Aaron Robinson (knee), and wide receiver/kick returner Gunner Olszewski, injured early in OTAs, missed practice. Tight end Daniel Bellinger did not participate in team periods but insisted he is not injured. Quarterback Daniel Jones didn't take part in the 11-on-11 series out of precaution following his ACL injury last season. Additional injuries during practice included Darius Slayton, Bryce Ford-Wheaton, and Chase Cota.During Monday's drills, Daniel Jones received most of the reps at quarterback with the skill players. Offensive line coach Carmen Bricillo focused on combo blocks to build chemistry within the group, working with both tackles and tight ends, while assistant O-line coach James Ferentz worked with guards and centers on moving in-sync during zone runs and combo blocking.Evan Neal rode the exercise bike during practice, with head coach Brian Daboll stating that Neal would not practice until training camp next month. Daboll mentioned they've “backed off” Neal, who underwent ankle surgery in early January. It remains unknown if he has suffered a setback.Chase Cota suffered a fractured collarbone and was carted off the field during mini camp. Recovery time typically ranges from 6 to 12 weeks. Six weeks would put him at the start of training camp, while 12 weeks would put him at the start of the regular season. This injury could make it an uphill battle for Cota, a fringe player, to make the roster.Bryce Ford-Wheaton has a shoulder sprain. Recovery time for a grade 1 sprain is a few weeks, but a grade 2 sprain can take several months. He is also recovering from last season's ACL injury. If it's a grade 1 sprain, he should be ready for training camp, but if the injury lingers, it could hinder his chances of making the roster.Giants Workout Updates- OL Kellen Diesch: The 6'7", 300 lbs, 26-year-old offensive lineman, undrafted out of Arizona in 2022, has yet to play a regular season NFL game despite stints with the Dolphins, Bears, Steelers, and Browns.- TE Noah Togiai: An undrafted free agent from Oregon State in 2020, Togiai has played 4 NFL games but has yet to record a reception. He has spent most of his career on practice squads with the Colts and Eagles.- TE Geor'quarius Spivey: The 6'5", 240 lbs tight end had an inconsistent college career due to injuries and eligibility issues but showed potential during his time at Mississippi State and TCU.Support the Show. All Episodes are shot LIVE with fan interactions on Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, & TwitchSponsor the show at: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/2giantgoofballsInterested in starting a podcast. Hey there, Giants fans! Drew and Rob are back with another episode of "2 Giant Goofballs," and today, we're diving deep into the wide receiver situation for Big Blue. Strap in, folks, because this one's going to be a wild ride!Let's kick things off by taking a closer look at the current roster of wide receivers for the New York Giants. From promising rookies to seasoned veterans, the Giants have a diverse group of pass-catchers vying for playing time on the field.First up, we have Malik Nabers, the rookie sensation out of LSU. Standing at 6'0” and weighing in at 200lbs, Nabers brings an impressive college resume to the table, boasting 1,569 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns in just 13 games. With a PFF rating of 92.9, Nabers is undoubtedly a player to watch in the upcoming season. But Nabers isn't the only exciting addition to the Giants' receiving corps. Wan'Dale Robinson, despite his smaller stature at 5'8”, has shown flashes of brilliance on the field, totaling 525 receiving yards and showcasing versatility with 87 rushing yards and a touchdown. With another year under his belt, Robinson could be poised for a breakout season.Of course, we can't forget about the veterans holding it down for the Giants. Darius Slayton, Jalin Hyatt, Isaiah Hodgins, Isaiah McKenzie, Gunner Olszewski, Miles Boykin, Bryce Ford-Wheaton, Dennis Houston, and Chase Cota round out the roster, each bringing their own unique skill set and experience to the table. But here's the burning question - do the Giants need to add another wide receiver to their roster? With a list of available free agents including Hunter Renfrow, Michael Thomas, Zay Jones, Mecole Hardman, and Marquez Valdes-Scantling, the options are certainly intriguing. Drew and Rob weigh the pros and cons of each potential addition, considering factors like age, production, and fit within the team's offensive scheme. And finally, let's compare the Giants' wide receiver situation from last year to this year. With the addition of Nabers through the draft and the potential for growth from players like Robinson and Hyatt, are the Giants better or worse off at the position? Drew and Rob break down the stats, assess the potential impact of each player, and make their predictions for the upcoming season. So, Giants fans, grab your jerseys and get ready for some in-depth analysis on the wide receiver woes facing Big Blue. Whether you're cheering from the sidelines or screaming at the TV, "2 Giant Goofballs" has got you covered with all the latest insights and updates. Rumors and speculation are now swirling for the Oregon Football program after USC and UCLA announced they would be leaving the Pac-12 for the Big 10 in 2024. The question immediately becomes whether or not Oregon could follow suit and leave the Pac-12 for another conference, and the administration has a number of factors to weigh into that decision. This breaking news changes how to view a listener's question "where could Oregon Football be in five years?" in a pretty dramatic way. Staying in the conference is possible, but there could come a point where it's not the best path forward. On today's episode of Locked On Ducks, Spencer McLaughlin answers a variety of incoming questions from Duck fans. The future of the program should still be bright with Dan Lanning at the helm, regardless of which conference they are playing in. The potential landscape of playing in the Pac-12 (10?) in the coming years vs the Big 10 would be radically different options from a competitive landscape. Two more mailbag questions conclude today's show, the first being when Chase Cota transferred to the Ducks, how important it was for Oregon to get the son of a former great player from decades past? The final question comes in on a sports topic but not an Oregon-specific one: what are the best sports movies of all-time that are based on true stories? In Spencer's view, Moneyball tops the list--but it's far from the only fantastic sports movie that has been released. Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! Over the last 4 years under Mario Cristobal, the recruiting prowess of Oregon Football got to heights it had never seen before--culminating in the program's highest-rated class of all time in 2021 (#6 nationally). One way they rose to power on the recruiting trail was by hitting California harder than ever before, bringing in big-time recruits like Justin Flowe and Kayvon Thibodeaux. Now that USC has Lincoln Riley, that sort of success in the state of California will be much more challenging to maintain. On this episode of Locked On Ducks, Spencer McLaughlin is joined by Max Torres of Sports Illustrated. Oregon has a bevy of young and talented WRs in addition to veteran transfer Chase Cota from UCLA. Quietly the Ducks and WR coach Junior Adams added another pass catcher, Caleb Chapman, who's last stop was Texas A&M. Max gives insight as to what sorts of states the Ducks need to have success in going forward with another major challenger on the trail for California recruits. He thinks Oregon should start in emerging recruiting states that are close to home like Washington and Arizona--but thinks this staff could have a recruiting reach all over the country. Oregon's early 2023 recruiting signs are strong at this point in Dan Lanning's first full cycle with the new staff. The next big domino Duck fans are waiting to fall is a big-time QB recruit...how important is it for the Ducks to get one of Jayden Rashada or Dante Moore? Even after the verbal commitment of 4-star RB Dante Dowdell, 5-star 23' RB Richard Young is still heavily considering the Ducks. Oregon was able to snag his last official visit over Ohio State. In 2021, Oregon Football's offense struggled to consistently push the ball downfield in the passing game with Anthony Brown at quarterback. Over the weekend at their Spring Game at Autzen Stadium, there was not a shortage of explosive plays for Duck fans to enjoy--indicating, Oregon fans hope, that things could be different in that sense this Fall. This was the first look fans have gotten at the Kenny Dillingham-led offense, and the early returns seem to be promising when it comes to improving upon the weaknesses of the previous offensive staff. On this episode of Locked On Pac-12, Spencer McLaughlin looks at the first Spring Game under Dan Lanning for Oregon Football. Most of the standout performers came on the offensive side of the ball, with wide receivers Seven McGee and Dont'e Thornton as the biggest standouts catching the ball--UCLA transfer Chase Cota also performed well. Aside from a few turnovers caused by the secondary (and some poor decision making from QBs), the biggest standout on defense was, by far, DJ Johnson. The Spring Game provided fans with a stark comparison between the 3 scholarship quarterbacks. Despite many fans clamoring for former 5-star QB Ty Thompson, it seems clear that Bo Nix is the leader in the club house as Spring football comes to a close in Eugene. Regardless of who the Ducks line up behind center, it looks like he will have an array of capable weapons around him. Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! After spring break and final exams, Oregon Football has resumed spring practice. In the new semester, 7 new players have arrived to begin practicing with the Ducks including 5 freshmen and 2 transfers. Among the 7 newcomers at practice is the WR transfer Chase Cota, playing for the same school his dad did back in the day. JJ Greenfield has also returned to the practice field, a welcome surprise for a guy who wasn't with the team last year after showing glimpses in the 2020 season. Other well-known freshmen from the Class of 2022 now practicing with the Ducks include Jahlil Florence, linebackers Devon Jackson and Harrison Taggart, among others. Oregon has "missed" on its last couple of recruits in the news, with Nico Iamaleava going to Tennessee and Mitchell Agude choosing to play for Miami in 2022. This should not worry Duck fans at all, and they should expect Dan Lanning and this staff to be able to recruit at a high level going forward. Oregon Basketball has a 5-star center in the Class of 2022 by the name of Kel'el Ware. At the McDonald's All-American game on ESPN, he impressed NBA scouts in a big way with his size, athleticism, and playmaking ability. He showed the physical traits and athleticism that have Duck fans buzzing about the #16 overall 5-star recruit in the class of 2022. Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! Spencer is joined today by Mike Black, co-host of the "Ducks and Dawgs" podcast, to talk about recent news surrounding Oregon Football. They begin talking about the QB position at Oregon and what they need from signal callers to win at a high level. They also discuss the NIL situation, where the two have some disagreement about the impact it will have on the college football recruiting landscape. Regardless, NIL is only good news for the Ducks who have recently dipped their toe into the water to that phenomenon like no school has yet. Mike also gives his thoughts on the most recent news surrounding Oregon Football: the addition of Chase Cota, the loss of Jaylin Davies, and the idea that Kayvon Thibodeaux might not be a top 5 pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.
