Thursday's edition of the Daily Puck Drop with Jason “Puck” Puckett featured his weekly guests, Mike Garafolo, NFL Network and Michael-Shawn Dugar, The Athletic. Puck puts cap on the Jake Dickert to Wake Forest talk to open the show. He plays a few clips from WSU AD Anne McCoy's press conference on Wednesday.   Puck has come to the conclusion that Dickert never intended to finish out the season and that he was probably gone once the season started.  WSU DT David Gusta become the latest Cougar to enter the portal and now the Cougs have 23 players in the portal and 12 of them are starters. On today's Daily Puck Drop, Jason “Puck” Puckett is joined by Jim Moore and an emergency visit with John Canzano from JohnCanzano.com to discuss the departure of Washington State Cougars head coach Jake Dickert. Jim joins Puck for an hour to discuss the move and then Canzano jumps on for the final thirty minutes of the show to give a behind the scenes look to what transpired and what led Dickert to bolt for Wake Forest. Why did Dickert leave? The move obviously changes how Puck and Jim view Dickert.  Is there an understanding to why Dickert left?  Puck once again referenced his common line with coaches, they all are Professional Liars. Now that Dickert is gone and over 20 players are in the transfer portal, including 10 starters.  Do the Cougars have enough players to play in the Holiday Bowl against Syracuse?   Should the school even allow them to play?Canzano takes Puck behind the scenes to the departure and why it's critical for Washington State athletic director Anne McCoy to move fast with a new hire.   John asks the question how culpable is the WSU Board of Regents?  Did the Regents make a mistake of not locking him up to a contract sooner?  Why did Dickert choose Wake Forest, a historically bad football program?  Canzano opines that Dickert was just fed up with the system and wanted a change of scenery.    Dickert's abrupt departure calls into question his commitment to the team late in the season.  Was there late season collapse a result of he and other coaches not being full engaged with WSU?Finally, Puck wraps up the show with “Hey, What the Puck!?” College sports have been forever ruined. No turning back.  Loyalty and commitment are the way of the past. 

Monday's Daily Puck Drop with Jason “Puck” Puckett featured appearances from Jim Moore and the Ground Puck Seahawks Podcast with Tim Booth, Seattle Times and Curtis Crabtree, FOX 13. Puck and Jim break right into the news that John Mateer is leaving Washington State and heading into the portal.  Both express massive disappointment that Mateer is leaving but understand that nature of the business especially with the financial figures being thrown out. Will other plays now follow and could that mean the Cougars may not have enough bodies for the Holiday Bowl against Syracuse?  Should they even play the game anymore?  Puck is not angered by Mateer, he's angry with the system of college football. The Seahawks game was a letdown.  Seattle was dominated in every aspect of the game and showed why they are not in the class of the Packers and other Super Bowl contending NFC teams.  We got our first look at Sam Howell and it wasn't good. Why did Jim bet with Puck that Howell would start this season???The Ground Puck Seahawks Podcast with Tim Booth, Seattle Times, Curtis Crabtree, FOX 13 and Jason “Puck” Puckett opens by saying the score could have been much worse and that Seattle really was delivered a wake up call where they sit in the NFC. The defense has been outstanding but what happened against Green Bay?  The Packers were always one step ahead of the Seahawks defense.  The offense for Seattle could never get going and once again were dominated on the line of scrimmage.   The injury to Geno Smith will be something to monitor for the week and if he can't go then they will turn to Sam Howell, who did not look good in his playing time against the Packers. The boys go through the tie breaking scenarios for the Seahawks as they wind down their season with three pivotal games looming against the Vikings, Bears and Rams. Once again, Geno Smith's performance in the red zone was awful.  it begs the question if you are Seattle if you should engage in significant money for him?  But, the Seahawks and Geno are in a similar spot because neither really has any leverage moving forward. Finally, Puck wraps up the show with, “Hey, What the Puck?!” John Mateer leaving Pullman is a loss for the Cougars, but also a loss for college football.
