Send us a textWelcome to another exciting episode of "2 Giants Goofballs: A New York Giants Podcast," hosted by Drew and Rob. In today's live show, we dive deep into the latest news, updates, and rumors surrounding the New York Giants as they continue to shape their roster and navigate the challenges of the NFL season. From player signings and surprising cuts to scouting for future talent, the Giants are making headlines, and we've got all the details right here.First up, we discuss the return of Adoree Jackson to the Giants on a one-year deal. Despite initial statements from GM Joe Schoen suggesting contentment with the current cornerback situation, it's clear the Giants felt the need to bolster their secondary. Rookie Andru Phillips even offered Jackson his number 22, a classy gesture that Jackson politely declined. Head Coach Brian Daboll hinted at the possibility of using Jackson as a punt returner, adding another layer of versatility to his role. However, Jackson will be on a pitch count in Week 1, which raises questions about how the Giants plan to utilize him and who he will match up against, especially considering his past encounters with top receivers like Justin Jefferson. In other intriguing news, reports surfaced about Josh Jacobs turning down a lucrative offer from the Giants. According to an interview with The Athletic, Jacobs declined an offer that was between $3 million and $4 million more than what he accepted elsewhere, citing concerns over New York taxes, lifestyle, media pressure, and the artificial turf at MetLife Stadium. This raises some serious questions: should teams like the Giants with higher state income taxes receive a higher salary cap to remain competitive? Is the turf at MetLife a deterrent for free agents? And why would the Giants be willing to offer so much for a running back in today's NFL? However, new reports suggest that the Giants never actually made an offer to Jacobs, creating a whirlwind of confusion and speculation. Drew and Rob dig into the details, questioning how such a misunderstanding occurred and calling for the unedited interview to be released.Next, we discuss the curious case of Jakob Johnson. After being cut to make room for Adoree Jackson, Johnson is expected to return to the practice squad. This move likely reflects the strong relationship he has with Offensive Line Coach Carmen Bricillo, indicating that Johnson's spot with the team is safe for now. In a related roster shuffle, wide receiver Miles Boykin was cut to make room for Johnson, showing the constant adjustments the Giants are making to optimize their lineup.Adding to the Giants' strategic planning, GM Joe Schoen has been spotted scouting college games, raising eyebrows about the future of the quarterback position. With Daniel Jones under pressure to prove himself, the Giants are keeping an eye on top prospects like Shedeur Sanders and Carson Beck. If Jones doesn't show significant improvement, it might be his last year with the Giants, prompting Schoen to explore all options for the team's future. In a lighter segment, Wan'Dale Robinson proposed a unique idea about honoring retired numbers. He suggested that players could wear numbers tSupport the showAll Episodes are shot LIVE with fan interactions on Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, & TwitchSponsor the show at: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/2giantgoofballsInterested in starting a podcast. Notable cuts include offensive lineman Matt Nelson, wide receiver Allen Robinson II, and linebacker Darrian Beavers. These moves signal a shift in the Giants' approach to their offensive and defensive depth. Drew discusses the impact of these cuts, including the release of players like rookie running back Dante “Turbo” Miller, wide receiver Miles Boykin, and cornerback David Long Jr., who was expected to add depth to the secondary. The release of fullback Jakob Johnson after just one week further highlights the Giants' evolving offensive direction. The episode also covers the surprise omissions of notable veterans like Saquon Barkley and Leonard Williams from the team captains list, suggesting a change in leadership dynamics. Quarterback Daniel Jones, offensive tackle Andrew Thomas, defensive lineman Dexter Lawrence, inside linebacker Bobby Okereke, and long snapper Casey Kreiter have been named the 2024 captains, indicating a more streamlined leadership approach. Drew speculates on what these changes mean for the Giants' strategy, particularly the absence of kicker Graham Gano as a captain, which could suggest a shift in the team's focus on special teams. As the Giants gear up for the season, these roster decisions and leadership changes reflect their commitment to building a competitive and cohesive team. Drew provides in-depth analysis on what these moves mean for the Giants' chances in the NFC East and the upcoming NFL season. Were we surprised by Kyron Johnson and Thomas Graham not making the roster? What about Jalen Elliott and Logan Lee making the roster? Could the team look to recently cut WRs such as Grant DuBose, Tim Patrick or Noah Brown for WR help? What about a Miles Boykin or James Pierre reunion as they search for a gunner? In this episode of "NY Giants News," we delve into the Giants' 100th Anniversary celebrations, starting with the "Giants 100: A Night with Legends" event on June 20th, featuring Eli Manning, Harry Carson, Tiki Barber, George Martin, Jason Sehorn, Bill Parcells, and Tom Coughlin. Fans can vote for the greatest play in team history on the Giants website, with the winner announced during the event. On August 4th, the first 18,000 fans attending the Yankees game against the Blue Jays will receive an Eli Manning bobblehead, courtesy of Dunkin Donuts.Throughout the summer, the Giants will celebrate their top 100 players, with Bob Papa hosting a podcast series dedicated to these legends. Fans can also look forward to a variety of anniversary merchandise, including helmets, hats, shirts, and books. Additionally, a documentary about Wellington Mara, titled "The Duke," will premiere on the NFL Network this fall. The Giants will debut special throwback uniforms twice this season, featuring tan pants with red and blue striped socks (a 1925 throwback), a Century Red jersey with a 1933 font, and a winged style helmet (used from 1937 to 1947). These uniforms, which include a patch with the 100-season logo, have received mixed reviews. Then, Carl Banks expressed his frustration with the relentless criticism of Daniel Jones on the Bleav in Giants podcast. Banks believes that the extreme negativity has made Jones a sympathetic figure and argues that the constant bashing is unwarranted and tiresome, given the numerous challenges Jones has faced, including multiple coaching changes. The New York Giants' offseason workouts began on April 15th, initiating the first phase, which focused on meetings, strength and conditioning, and rehab. This was followed by three weeks of on-field workouts and drills. Now, the team has commenced the 10 organized team activities (OTAs). The primary goals of OTAs are to familiarize everyone with the playbook, maintain player health, allow coaches to evaluate what strategies and plays work, and foster team cohesion. It's important to manage expectations and not get too caught up in the hype.Daniel Jones took the field, leading his team in various drills conducted primarily just outside the endzone. The first touchdown of the day was secured by new running back Devin Singletary, signaling a promising start. Undrafted rookie cornerback Alex Johnson made a notable impact by getting the first interception of OTAs. Wide receiver Malik Nabers stood out with several catches, showcasing his potential as a key target. On Day 2, Kayvon Thibodeaux and Brian Burns were frequently seen working together, displaying promising chemistry. Devin Singletary collaborated with the offensive line to practice blitz pickups. The team drills remained focused on the red zone, especially within the 10-yard line. Notable plays included two touchdowns early on: Tommy DeVito's scramble to find Malik Nabers and Nathan Rourke's shovel pass to Miles Boykin. The Giants' media highlighted the growing connection between Daniel Jones and Malik Nabers, although it's still early to confirm their developing chemistry. Overall, the Giants' OTAs are off to a productive start, laying a solid foundation for the upcoming season.#giants #nygiants #nSupport the Show. All Episodes are shot LIVE with fan interactions on Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, & TwitchSponsor the show at: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/2giantgoofballsInterested in starting a podcast. Hey there, Giants fans! Drew and Rob are back with another episode of "2 Giant Goofballs," and today, we're diving deep into the wide receiver situation for Big Blue. Strap in, folks, because this one's going to be a wild ride!Let's kick things off by taking a closer look at the current roster of wide receivers for the New York Giants. From promising rookies to seasoned veterans, the Giants have a diverse group of pass-catchers vying for playing time on the field.First up, we have Malik Nabers, the rookie sensation out of LSU. Standing at 6'0” and weighing in at 200lbs, Nabers brings an impressive college resume to the table, boasting 1,569 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns in just 13 games. With a PFF rating of 92.9, Nabers is undoubtedly a player to watch in the upcoming season. But Nabers isn't the only exciting addition to the Giants' receiving corps. Wan'Dale Robinson, despite his smaller stature at 5'8”, has shown flashes of brilliance on the field, totaling 525 receiving yards and showcasing versatility with 87 rushing yards and a touchdown. With another year under his belt, Robinson could be poised for a breakout season.Of course, we can't forget about the veterans holding it down for the Giants. Darius Slayton, Jalin Hyatt, Isaiah Hodgins, Isaiah McKenzie, Gunner Olszewski, Miles Boykin, Bryce Ford-Wheaton, Dennis Houston, and Chase Cota round out the roster, each bringing their own unique skill set and experience to the table. But here's the burning question - do the Giants need to add another wide receiver to their roster? With a list of available free agents including Hunter Renfrow, Michael Thomas, Zay Jones, Mecole Hardman, and Marquez Valdes-Scantling, the options are certainly intriguing. Drew and Rob weigh the pros and cons of each potential addition, considering factors like age, production, and fit within the team's offensive scheme. And finally, let's compare the Giants' wide receiver situation from last year to this year. With the addition of Nabers through the draft and the potential for growth from players like Robinson and Hyatt, are the Giants better or worse off at the position? Drew and Rob break down the stats, assess the potential impact of each player, and make their predictions for the upcoming season. So, Giants fans, grab your jerseys and get ready for some in-depth analysis on the wide receiver woes facing Big Blue. June 30, 2023 - Season 13, Episode 148 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Friday morning show, Alex Kozora and I start things off by talking about the history of Pittsburgh Steelers when it comes to the team signing players after their annual mandatory minicamp ends that wind up making the Week 1 53-man roster. We discuss how that history might play into 2023 and at which positions as well. The Steelers seem to have a big hole at the backup center position ahead of training camp, so Alex and I discuss that topic quite a bit during this show. We then move forward to discuss my ongoing 90-In-30 Training Camp series. We have several Steelers players to discuss in this show related to that series and they are Luq Barcoo, Keeanu Benton, Chris Boswell, Miles Boykin, Ja'Marcus Bradley, Hakeem Butler, Jordan Byrd, Dan Chisena, Le'Raven Clark, Mason Cole, Dylan Cook, and James Daniels. Former Steelers tackle Alejandro Villanueva is back in the news on this Friday, so we go over a few things he had to say during a recent podcast interview that he did. We hit a few listener emails late in this show as well. As usual, we mix in other Steelers talk throughout this episode that is not noted in this recap post. Learn more about your ad choices. Why did the snap count for George Pickens go down in Atlanta and we saw receivers like Miles Boykin and Gunner Olszewski get their snaps increased? Steelers insider Mike DeFabo from The Athletic joined the show. Mike defended why he thinks Matt Canada will be back next season. Mike thinks Canada still needs to prove more if he was making the decisions. If Mike was making the calls, he would go find a proven offensive coordinator so you can figure out if Kenny Pickett is the real deal with an established name. Mike wants the Steelers to truly get Kenny's input on who the team should have as offensive coordinator. Mike doesn't expect the Steelers to mold the game plan to favor George Pickens no matter what, but said he should still be a featured piece. He said Kenny is showing his natural leadership and getting more comfortable as the weeks go on.
December 2, 2022 -On this Friday version of The Terrible Take, Alex Kozora outlines the importance of Miles Boykin to the Pittsburgh Steelers' kick coverage unit.

We discuss the Steelers current need at safety ahead of the draft and go over the market value of Johnson, the probability of him being re-signed and where he ranks in the league at the wide receiver position. The Steelers had a salary cap adjustment on Friday related to new wide receiver Miles Boykin, so Alex and I cover that. Joshua, Jude, and Brendan are back from their Holy Week sabbatical only to come across a very, very meaty Notre Dame football news bone. In this episode: Hello! REVIEWS! Auxiliary changes to the Notre Dame football program. Tyler Buchner is out for the spring game which kind of sucks. The Blue-Gold Game Draft. What to expect from the spring game. Blue VS Gold... who do you have? Miles Boykin joins the Pittsburgh Steelers. The hugeness of the Braylon James commitment. The pressure of the Dante Moore recruitment. Braylon James trolling the LSU Tigers and yes - Brian Kelly. The F.U.N.D. NIL collective with Brady Quinn, Tom Mendoza and others. NBC starts their NIL marketplace and we try to connect the dots between ND, the Vanderbilt Commodores, and Temple Owls. This is all very Notre Damey - just the way it has to be and the way it should be. Brendan can't take Josh's dismissive nature of the spring game anymore and brings it back for another round of discussion. Good vibes. Drew Pyne is about to Tommy Rees this entire thing into existence. Notre Dame's big recruiting weekend and possible commitments coming out of the game. Let's piss off the Michigan Wolverines. 50 Shades memes are fully locked and loaded. The Shirt is BACK and we got the takes WAY before it's unveiled. Ed Orgeron... like WTF man? All the purple stuff. Kyle Hamilton's NFL Draft position. Just go to a good place. Zillow is out here. Notre Dame basketball is in this episode. Lincoln Riley has a problem. And much more weaved in and out of the show. Please RATE and REVIEW! All reviews left on Apple Podcasts will be read on the next OFD Podcast. Go Irish! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

Ray joins us for the latest with the Steelers offseason, including Miles Boykin and what to do with Diontae Johnson in the future and his feelings on the draft as it is just a week away.
We're back talking about this group again after Miles Boykin was brought in. Does it change anything? Are we still split on Diontae Johnson?
Two huge NFL rumors carved out the start of the show. Jeff Darlington of ESPN said today the Steelers would sign Baker Mayfield “the next day” if he is cut by the Browns. He also broke the news that Deebo Samuel wants a trade out of San Francisco. The guys debated if either move makes sense for the Steelers. Former NFL GM Vinny Cerrato joined the show. Vinny gave his insight on the Steelers claiming Miles Boykin, saying his only redeeming quality is his special teams work. Vinny said he's a “really good blocker,” but he isn't a good receiver. Vinny, like many of the analysts going into the draft, isn't high on any of the potential first round quarterbacks. He said Willis is big and athletic, but needs a lot of fundamental work. Vinny likes Baker Mayfield to Pittsburgh and thinks he's a definite upgrade over Mitch Trubisky. Dax Hill is a player to look for in the opening round for the Steelers, according to Vinny, which would fill a void at safety. He said the Jets and Deebo Samuel could be the match the 49ers are looking for in a trade. As a former GM, Vinny gave an idea of how involved Kevin Colbert could be once he “retires” following next week's draft. He added that Colbert will likely set the Steelers up with their future at quarterback.

April 19, 2022 - On this Tuesday version of The Terrible Take, Dave Bryan looks at the decision made by the Pittsburgh Steelers to claim wide receiver Miles Boykin off waivers from the Baltimore Ravens.
A fun new episode going over Baltimore Ravens News
Steelers insider Brian Batko joined the show. Brian gave his initial reaction to Miles Boykin after the Steelers claimed him off waivers from the Ravens. Brian gave his predictions on what the Steelers will look like after the draft unfolds. He said he'd rather cast a wider net when it comes to the draft. Brian said drafting a safety at 20th overall is a real possibility because he doesn't know which way the team is leaning on Terrell Edmunds or Tyrann Mathieu.
The Diontae Johnson firestorm. Poni wanted to stoke the fire with the Steelers wide receiver. Poni labeled it a “conundrum” at this point. Poni and Chris went to the limit they would pay Johnson. Former Steeler Merril Hoge joined the show. Merril reacted to the Steelers claiming Miles Boykin off waivers from the Ravens. Merril told a story about watching film on players in the draft that will stick with him forever. Merril got into the 2022 QB class, saying Kenny Pickett is the head of the class and it's “not even close” when it comes to a transitional skillset. He said anticipation and accuracy are two of the biggest things for a young QB getting into the league and Pickett is the only one he thinks has both right now. Pickett was the only QB that got any sort of endorsement from Merril. He also got into players that get blown up because of their measurables versus how well they can actually play.
