POPULARITY
Rich Dotson and Garret Price are back for one of their most popular yearly shows: the real value of rookie draft picks. With the Combine running and rookie drafts right around the corner, they break down where picks actually hit, where they turn into roster cloggers, and why “not worth a first” is meaningless unless you say which first. Garret lays out the scoring tiers they track to define outcomes. A “hit” requires at least one Tier 1 season, or multiple Tier 2 seasons, with thresholds adjusted by position. Quarterbacks need top six seasons to count as Tier 1, running backs and wide receivers need top 12, and tight ends need top three. The point is simple: if a player never reaches at least Tier 2, that pick never truly helped your starting lineup. After adding the 2024 class to the spreadsheet, they call out early hits already logged, including Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, Malik Nabers, Drake Maye, Brock Bowers, Ladd McConkey, Brian Thomas Jr., and Bo Nix, while noting plenty of names still need time to prove it. The biggest takeaway is the stability at the very top. Since 2018, the 1.01 has a 100% hit rate in their sample, and top four picks hit about three quarters of the time, with even more value when you include “mid” outcomes. After that, the first round becomes far less differentiated, and they point out an odd recent trend where 1.09 to 1.12 has slightly better results than 1.05 to 1.08. They dig into a possible reason: quarterbacks often get pushed into that 1.05 to 1.08 range in Superflex, and non-elite rookie quarterbacks are harder to “hit” by their definition. The broader lesson stays the same. Outside the top tier, it often makes sense to trade down, tier up into a proven veteran, or move picks into stronger future classes. They hammer the second round value drop. Once you get into the 2.01 to 2.12 range, the hit rate collapses, and third round picks become true dart throws. Their advice for contenders is aggressive: if you can turn a first into multiple years of a proven producer, that is usually the winning bet because many late firsts never become lineup players. Garret also tests a theory about late rookie drafts. If you trade late seconds and thirds for multiple fourths and fifths, the position most likely to return value is running back. Late-round running backs can become “ships to shore” quickly when injuries hit, and that short window can still flip into future seconds. They add that tight ends are often pushed down by the community chasing wide receivers, which can create value pockets in the late second and early third. What will the new era in New York look like under John? With a top 5 pick at his disposal could they take a WR to pair with Malik Nabers, more help at the offensive line, or even a generational talent in Caleb Downs? What will happen with AJ Brown and the Eagles? What will Washington do? Invest more assets into Jayden Daniels or will they look to the EDGE position. We map out the draft and free-agency moves that will define the East.

Welcome back to He's a Giant, where Monte and Sal break down the dawn of the John Harbaugh era for the New York Giants. In this slightly earlier-than-usual episode, the guys dissect the brand-new coaching staff stacked with veteran experience (Matt Nagy, Denard Wilson, Brian Callahan, Greg Roman, Mike Bloomgren & more), the fascinating front-office power shift with Dawn Aponte reporting directly to Harbaugh, and the aggressive “push-your-chips-in” free-agency philosophy they expect the Giants to take around their young core of Jaxson Dart, Malik Nabers, Andrew Thomas, and Dexter Lawrence. From potential offensive-line overhauls (Tyler Linderbaum, Wyatt Teller, Joel Bitonio, AVT) to wide-receiver and linebacker targets, plus every scheme-fit connection under the new regime, this is the ultimate roadmap for how the Giants plan to load up and compete in 2026.Timestamps:00:00:08 Welcome & studio tour00:01:45 Full coaching staff breakdown & veteran-experience theme00:05:43 Philosophical approach to free agency & roster building00:09:36 Dawn Aponte front-office role & Harbaugh power structure00:16:41 “Fill the starting 22 before the draft” strategy00:23:28 Offensive line deep dive – Linderbaum, Teller, Bitonio, AVT, etc.00:58:08 Wide receiver & running back targets01:08:39 Tight end options01:13:49 Linebacker & defensive line targets01:30:28 Cornerback & safety free agents01:45:36 Final thoughts & 2026 “all-in” outlook

GRADING THE NEW YORK GIANTS 2025 SEASON I'm grading EVERY NFL team's 2025 season based on the film and the numbers — let's talk New York Giants football. I'm giving the Giants a C+. They weren't close to the playoffs and the year felt inconsistent, but there were real flashes that should have fans optimistic. Offensively, they finished middle of the pack at 22.4 points per game (17th), but the run game was legitimately top tier — nearly 130 rushing yards per game (5th in the league) and top-five in EPA per rush. A huge reason? Jaxson Dart. The rookie put up 2,300 passing yards, 15 TDs to 5 INTs with a 91.7 rating despite missing time, and added 487 rushing yards with 9 rushing TDs — third among QBs behind Josh Allen and Justin Herbert. The mobility is electric, but he has to protect himself and grow more comfortable operating from the pocket if he's going to be the true franchise guy. Malik Nabers continues to look like a legit WR1 — glider, explosive, can win at every level — and Andrew Thomas anchored an O-line that quietly finished 4th in pass blocking efficiency per PFF. Defensively? That's where things fell apart. 25.8 points allowed per game (26th), dead last in EPA per rush allowed. The interior run defense was a nightmare — wide gaps, poor fits, linebackers overwhelmed — and despite the name power of Dexter Lawrence, Brian Burns, Kayvon Thibodeaux and Abdul Carter, they just didn't dominate like they should have. That's the offseason priority. With John Harbaugh now in the building, this feels like a reset with direction. Fix the interior, add another weapon, help Dart develop — and this C+ could jump to a B or better next season. Optimistic, but work to do.

The Great Knicks Debate: The hosts push back against Boomer Esiason and Craig Carton's theory that the Knicks should avoid the Pistons until the Conference Finals. They argue why facing a dangerous team early—before they earn postseason "battle scars"—is actually the smarter path. Office Controversy: Sean alleges that a coworker "stole" his specific critique of Brian Cashman's spring training wardrobe (likening him to a World Series of Poker player), sparking a debate on radio etiquette and borrowed opinions. Road Game Realities: The crew and callers trade war stories about the dangers of being a visiting fan in hostile environments like Philadelphia and Dallas—specifically the eerie silence (and occasional flying beer bottles) that follows a road team victory. The Dunk Contest & Giants Updates: A look at why even $1 million offers to stars like Kobe and LeBron couldn't fix the Dunk Contest, followed by injury recovery timelines for Giants players Cam and Malik Nabers.
Anthony and Alex react to the finalization of the Giants' 2026 offensive coaching staff. The hour starts with a full-on takedown of Giannis' “legends don't chase” victory lap, with one bold prediction: he is getting moved this summer and the tweet is going to age horribly. Then the convo pivots to NFL Honors, where Stafford wins MVP in a razor-thin race and it sparks a hilarious relitigation of last year's Giants debate: would you rather have gone all-in for Stafford, or be in the Jaxson Dart era right now? It gets even weirder with NFL Honors moments that left everyone confused, plus callers diving into Super Bowl strategy (Patriots defense vs Seahawks weapons), the never-ending Brady vs Belichick argument, and an alternate universe where the Jets drafted Brady in 2000. Along the way: a legendary Reese's slip-up, why Philly suddenly feels like it's falling apart, what Stoutland and Schwartz resignations could mean, the Giants adding Greg Roman, a Malik Nabers injury timeline breakdown, and a closer look at Russell Wilson's social media behavior that somehow makes Brady's “no dog in the fight” look normal.

Kafka's Arrival and Why It Matters Detroit moved on offense. Yesterday the Detroit Lions hired Mike Kafka to an unspecified but prominent role. He is the former Giants interim head coach and offensive coordinator. He also coached quarterbacks in Kansas City under Andy Reid with Patrick Mahomes. His calling card is aggressive creativity and adaptability. He has shown he can build an attack around the talent on hand, not just the playbook. With backups at key spots, no Malik Nabers, and a battered line, his offense still put up points. The concepts were fresh. The execution fit the personnel. Petzing's OC Role and the Scheme Blend Drew Petzing is the offensive coordinator. He is most notable for work with tight ends in Cleveland. In Arizona, his plans were limited by personnel, but the structure was sound. Petzing comes from the Kevin Stefanski tree. Kafka arrives from a different West Coast branch. The Detroit Lions are rooted in West Coast principles. Timing and spacing in the passing game matter. So do route combinations, gap and duo runs, and a little zone. Kafka is experienced in aggressive play calls. Petzing can marry that with tight end usage and practicality. The staff must correct a 2024 problem. After injuries, the offense often ran like Sam LaPorta and Frank Ragnow were still in the huddle. Brock Wright is not Sam LaPorta. Anthony Firkser is not Brock Wright. Yet the calls asked them to be. Dan Campbell eventually took over play calling, and the buck landed on him. Now the buck will be shared. Two proven offensive coordinators sit on staff. That should drive faster adjustments and better fits when injuries hit. How Kafka Could Be Deployed if Roles Shift One reason Kafka's title is not set yet: Scotty Montgomery, the assistant head coach and wide receivers coach, is in Baltimore interviewing for the Ravens OC job under Jesse Minter. There is a real chance he gets it. If he leaves, Kafka can step into a senior offensive assistant role that leans into the passing game and receivers. Quarterbacks are covered with Mark Brunell. Another option is passing game coordinator. David Shaw holds that post as of this recording. He came to Detroit through his connection with John Morton after working together in Denver. Shaw's son just transferred to Stanford from UCLA. That could pull him west. It would not be a surprise if the title board changes again before the combine. The Detroit Lions Podcast framed it plainly. The Lions added two sharp minds who value fit, spacing, and flexibility. That should raise the floor on Sundays in the NFL and sharpen the ceiling when everyone is healthy. #detroitlions #lions #detroitlionspodcast #mikekafka #drewpetzing #dancampbell #westcoastoffense #gapandduo #samlaporta #brockwright #anthonyfirkser #frankragnow #markbrunell #scottymontgomery #jesseminter #davidshaw #patrickmahomes #passinggamecoordinator Learn more about your ad choices. The Dynasty Nerds crew is back with their monthly Risers and Fallers episode, and the conversation got heated. Rich Dotson, Garret Price, and Jagger May debated which players are climbing the dynasty rankings and which ones are plummeting after the AFC and NFC Championship games. Trevor Lawrence topped the risers list as the unanimous number one. With Liam Coen's offense and a loaded receiving corps, Rich declared him an elite dynasty asset at just 26 years old. Jaxson Dart landed at number two, with John Harbaugh bringing stability to the Giants and Malik Nabers returning from injury. Colston Loveland rounded out the top three, cementing himself as a top five tight end after his playoff breakout. On the falling side, CJ Stroud was the unanimous number one faller. Rich went on a legendary rant, calling him overvalued for years and predicting he could slide even further when the elite 2027 quarterback class arrives. JJ McCarthy and Zach Charbonnet also took hits, with McCarthy facing competition rumors and Charbonnet dealing with a devastating ACL injury. Robinson's Fit and Play-Calling Proof Detroit moved fast on the offensive coordinator search. The Detroit Lions Podcast focused squarely on two NFL names. Zach Robinson interviewed in Allen Park on Thursday morning. He was the Atlanta Falcons offensive coordinator. Atlanta underachieved, but Robinson's work with Bijan Robinson stood out. Bijan piled up almost 2,400 yards from scrimmage this year. Robinson balanced him with Algier. He understands a two-back system. That matters with David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs. Robinson worked with Jared Goff in Los Angeles as an assistant quarterbacks coach. He comes from the McVay tree. That signals continuity for Detroit's offense rather than a reset. He has called plays. He has coached wide receivers, quarterbacks, and tight ends. Atlanta's interior offensive line was strong and often overlooked. Robinson built around that strength. He navigated a season with Michael Penix and Kirk Cousins. Results were better with Cousins. The Lions need that kind of pragmatic design for Jared Goff, who shares a similar athletic profile. Robinson tailored calls to the quarterback. He used motion, spacing, and run-pass balance to keep structure intact and drives on schedule. Kafka's Creative Case Mike Kafka interviewed Wednesday. He just served as the interim head coach of the New York Giants. One game against Detroit still resonates. With Jameis Winston at quarterback, the Giants pushed the Lions to the edge. Kafka leaned into trick plays and gimmicky blocking. He attacked known weaknesses in Detroit's defense. That creativity landed. Kafka trained in the Andy Reid system. There is crossover with McVay concepts. West Coast principles with an aggressive streak match what Ben Johnson often does. Kafka has worked with different quarterback styles. He developed a run game in New York without a good offensive line. He used a power option in Cam Scataboe and paired it with Tyrone Tracy, a capable receiving back. He darn near beat the Lions without Malik Nabers, Jackson Dart, or Cam Scataboe available. That adaptability fits what Detroit needs from an NFL coordinator: answers when pieces are missing, and a plan that highlights Gibbs and Montgomery while keeping Goff comfortable. What Happens Next at Allen Park The building is closed to media. There will be no access until draft time inside the media room. On-field views return at rookie minicamp in May. The timeline is tight, but the process is clear. Detroit is not changing its identity. The Lions are evolving it. Robinson offers continuity with proven play-calling. Kafka brings creative problem solving and opponent-specific attack plans. Both align with how the Detroit Lions want to score and protect the ball. Now it is about selection, fit, and timing as the Detroit Lions and this NFL search move forward. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lBvzESu16-8 #detroitlions #lions #detroitlionspodcast #offensivecoordinatorsearch #allenpark #zachrobinson #mikekafka #two-backsystem #jameergibbs #davidmontgomery #jaredgoff #mcvaytreeconcepts #bijanrobinsonusage Learn more about your ad choices. Garret Price, Andrew Mott, and Jagger May ranked wide receiver classes from 2020 to 2027 on the College Show. The 2024 class topped their rankings despite Year 2 disappointments from Marvin Harrison Jr., Malik Nabers, and Brian Thomas Jr. The crew also hyped the 2027 class featuring Jeremiah Smith, who some believe could be the best prospect in years. The hosts agreed the 2021 class ranked second overall, producing dynasty assets like Ja'Marr Chase, Amon-Ra St. Brown, and Nico Collins. The 2020 class landed fourth despite early whiffs on Jalen Reagor over Justin Jefferson. Meanwhile, 2023 ranked dead last entering the draft but got salvaged by Puka Nacua and Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Looking ahead, the 2026 class lacks a true alpha, with Jordan Tyson, Carnell Tate, and Makai Lemon forming a solid but unspectacular top tier. The 2027 class stole the show, with Smith drawing Julio Jones comparisons and Cam Coleman rounding out an elite top duo.
