USC and UCLA will be leaving the PAC-12 conference and joining the BIG Ten in 2024. The College Football world has been turned upside down by this news. USC Football is one of the biggest programs in College Football and should fit in nicely in the BIG 10. But how will UCLA Football perform with a program that has struggled to recruit at a high level and hasn't been great over the past decade? The Patriots could have a gem on their in rookie cornerback Jack Jones. The New England Patriots drafted Jack Jones in the fourth round in the 2022 NFL Draft and he's coming off a very impressive mini-camp. Jack Jones has been so impressive that he's now in the mix to be one of the Patriots starting cornerbacks for the upcoming 2022 NFL season. The Cincinnati Bengals are coming off one of the biggest Cinderella seasons in the history of the NFL. With the success the Bengals had last season many NFL fans have discussed the possibility of who could be the Cincinnati Bengals of the 2022 NFL season. JT Sports breaks down why he feels the Cincinnati Bengals 2021 NFL season will never be replicated by another team. With UCLA and USC leaving for the BIG Ten, what's next for the PAC-12 conference? With this move what's next for Oregon, Washington, and Utah? Will they join USC and UCLA in the BIG 10 as well or join different conferences such as the BIG 12? Is the PAC-12 done, because now with the losses of USC and UCLA Washington and Oregon most definitely could be on their way out. How will the move of Oregon Football along with Utah and Washington impact College Football? What is the future of College Football? Will the BIG Ten and SEC form a mega-conference similar to the AFC and NFC in the NFL? If Dan Lanning and Kenny Dillingham are going to land a highly rated QB in their first recruiting cycle, it seems like it will have to be Dante Moore. One listener asks what his commitment would mean for the Ducks should it happen in the coming weeks. The last two weekends for Oregon Football have been two of the largest from a recruiting standpoint. The sheer volume of players in Eugene has been impressive, but arguably even more so is the consistent caliber of players who Dan Lanning and his staff are after on the recruiting trail. With a litany of 5-star players and an even greater number of 4-star recruits looking at the Ducks, Oregon figures to deliver a strong recruiting class in the 2023 cycle. On this episode of Locked On Ducks, Spencer McLaughlin looks at the extensive list of high-profile recruits that Oregon's new staff are targeting for next year. With players in the sights of other big-time recruiting powers nationally, Duck fans are hoping a variety of position groups will get commitments in the coming weeks. Oregon is especially working towards getting a big-name commitment on the defensive side of the ball. The recruiting names and caliber rightly have Oregon fans excited about the potential of another high-level recruiting class. With all these names having rolled through Eugene over the last couple of weeks, how many could actually end up committing to the Ducks? Spencer takes a look at the recruiting numbers from last year to gauge how many of the names that recently visited the campus could choose Oregon to play their college football. Oregon Football's 2023 recruiting class has (for now) entered the top 25 at this point in the cycle. After landing two verbal commitments at the cornerback position, Duck fans are continuing to monitor how Dan Lanning and Tosh Lupoi will be able to recruit on that side of the ball--with high expectations. 4-star safety Tyler Turner was down to Oregon and Oklahoma, but ultimately landed on Oregon's new staff in favor of the Sooners and new HC Brent Venables. On today's episode of Locked On Ducks, Spencer McLaughlin discusses the latest verbal commitments for Dan Lanning and his staff in the class of 2023. The next member of the secondary in next year's class is 3-star CB/Nickel Colin Gill, who goes all the way across the country for his college ball coming from Washington DC. Oregon adds both of these verbal commitments in a position group that lost multiple starters from the 2021 season. The recruiting returns so far under this new staff have been positive, but still duck fans have more hopes for their first full cycle. Oregon Football is going after some big-time recruits in the class of 2023, some of whom are a little newer on the Ducks' radar while others have been in their sights for some time. Riley Williams, an in-state 4-star TE who's the #1 recruit in the state of Oregon for the next recruiting cycle, falls into the latter of those two categories. Instead of visiting Eugene this weekend as had been planned, he released a top 3 final schools that did not include Oregon. On today's episode of Locked On Ducks, Spencer McLaughlin dives into the latest headlines the Ducks are generating on the recruiting trail. The offseason has been overwhelmingly positive where recruiting is concerned, but this piece of news might be one that gets fans' attention in a negative way. It's not ideal, but there's no reason to feel majorly concerned both from a recruiting and positional point of view--Oregon should be just fine in both areas. The evening of the day this episode drops, Oregon will be waiting for the commitment of 2023 4-star safety Tyler Turner, who's down to the Ducks and the Oklahoma Sooners. Going forward beyond Tyler Turner, the Ducks will continue to wait on some important recruits and whether or not they will play their college football in Eugene. From 5-star DE Matayo Uiagalalei to 4-star CB Caleb Presley and beyond, there are a bevy of players that Dan Lanning and co. are hoping will eventually choose the Ducks. Oregon has missed out on the #1 offensive lineman in the class of 2023 (Kadyn Proctor) leaving a bit of a blank canvas for OL coach Adrian Klemm when it comes to recruiting the offensive lines of the future. Oregon Football has seen one walk-on quarterback leave the program (AJ Abbott) while another has arrived from a team Duck fans have likely not heard since 2011. Missouri St, an FCS school, came to Autzen Stadium for a 56-7 trouncing 11 years ago and is now sending a player to the Ducks via the transfer portal. Jake Van Dyne will now serve as Oregon's fourth quarterback, a player that (if all goes according to plan) is unlikely to see meaningful action. On today's episode of Locked On Ducks, Spencer McLaughlin dives into one of his most incorrect takes regarding Oregon Basketball: the return of Will Richardson. An undisputed positive for the Ducks, Richardson's decision to come back for a fifth season is demonstratively rare nowadays in college basketball. His career represents the exact type of player that every college basketball coach (including Dana Altman) is looking for on the recruiting trail. The episode concludes with a mailbag question about NBA #ProDucks rotation player and former Oregon standout Payton Pritchard. He struggled mightily in the NBA Finals against the Warriors, but has been a productive backup point guard for the Boston Celtics through two seasons as a pro. With two years left on his rookie deal, he doesn't appear poised for a contract extension--but he DOES seem like someone who can consistently find a role on an NBA roster. According to a report from 247Sports, Dan Lanning and his staff have, for the third time, convinced an Oregon Football player who put his name in the portal to stay with the school. 4-star Class of 2021 safety Daymond David took an official visit to Florida State, but it seems he has decided to return to the Ducks. Kristian Williams, however, a former 3-star defensive lineman, has left the program and is headed to Missouri to play for the Tigers. On this episode of Locked On Ducks, Spencer McLaughlin looks at the secondary depth (specifically at safety) if the report about Daymond David is accurate. The number of names adds up quicker than some may realize with players like Jamal Hill, Bennett Williams, JJ Greenfield and others in the safety room--but the experience beyond Williams and Hill is rather thin. The safety position (with the departure of Verone McKinley) remains a legitimate question for the year 1 defense of Dan Lanning and Tosh Lupoi. A listener sends in a question asking about some of Oregon's best all-time players, specifically running backs. There have been more than a few top-notch tailbacks for the Ducks over the years, and Spencer goes through the best that he's seen in his lifetime. Some college coaches love the grind of recruiting, which has seemingly become even more than a 24/7/365 investment on the part of coaches and their staffs. Other coaches, many of whom often have an eye on the NFL, are not as engaged on the recruiting trail and prefer to focus their efforts on game days and those leading up to those coveted Saturdays in the Fall, One Pac-12 fan wants to know whether or not head coaches could be less involved and simply delegate most of the recruiting responsibility to staff members who are strictly hired to deal with personnel/recruiting. On today's episode of Locked On Pac-12, Spencer McLaughlin looks at how college football coaches use recruiting as a tool to develop their programs, and how important it is for them to be involved with it. Though it may appeal to some, it's hard to envision (for several reasons) a world in which head football coaches are not heavily involved on the recruiting trail. It has become more and more of a team effort with recruiting-specific staff on schools' payrolls, but at the end of the day it's often the head coach who's able to land a program's biggest recruits. This episode concludes with an evaluation of Oregon Football's hire of former Georgia defensive coordinator Dan Lanning. He has many things going for him as Oregon's next head coach: a strong schematic background, a program that has been recruiting better than ever for the last 4-5 years, and a roster with plenty of returners from a 10-win team. Still, as a first-time HC at a school with a fanbase yearning for a high-level and homegrown quarterback, Lanning has much to prove as he embarks on is career in Eugene. Reports are that 5-star 2023 QB and Oregon Football recruit Jayden Rashada is going to push back his commitment date originally scheduled for June 18th. John Garcia Jr,. Sports Illustrated's director of recruiting, has said in the past he believes this would have given Oregon a better shot at the highly-coveted signal caller who's largely looking at southern schools. The Ducks have been hoping to get one of Jayden Rashada or Dante Moore (5-star recruits) or perhaps Avery Johnson (4-star) who will be on campus this weekend--and is a superb athlete at the quarterback position. *NOTE*--Since this episode was recorded, Rashada has cut down his list of schools and Oregon did not make the cut. On this episode of Locked On Ducks, Spencer McLaughlin looks closely at the future of Oregon Football's quarterback room as they pursue 5-star quarterback prospects. He examines the three possible scenarios for Bo Nix's future after this season: returning to Oregon, going to the NFL, or becoming immediately eligible as a grad transfer at another school if 2022 doesn't pan out the way he and Duck fans are hoping it will. What could be the recruiting strengths of this Oregon Football staff?

Every coaching staff is trying to find an identity ON the field with regards to how they play and their philosophy of how to win football games. The same applies to the recruiting trail as each coaching staff tries to mold their rosters into their visions that best fit their schemes to win on Saturdays in the Fall. For Dan Lanning and Tosh Lupoi, arguably the two most well-established recruiters on the Oregon Football staff, that approach is likely to start on the defensive side of the ball. On this episode of Locked On Ducks, Spencer McLaughlin is joined by John Garcia Jr., director of recruiting for sports illustrated. The Ducks should expect Lanning and co. to recruit at a high level when it comes to defensive prospects, but expectations should be managed--there isn't likely ever going to be a singular team that is as talented on the defensive side of the ball as the 2021-22 Georgia Bulldogs. Still, Oregon should be able to bring in plenty of talented guys on that side of the ball. That's not to overlook the offensive recruiting potential, which thanks to assistants like Junior Adams and Carlos Locklyn is off to a great start with this new staff. To help with future depth on the offensive line, Oregon has added a JUCO prospect to its roster for this year who could potentially have a nice amount of upside. Brayden Zolkoske, an Oregon native, started his career at the non-Division 1 level--and at 6'7" 310lbs will now get a chance to potentially earn some playing time with the Ducks for the next two seasons. He's certainly big enough to be on the field, the question is whether or not he's too big--even as an offensive tackle--to keep up with the speed of the power 5 football game. At this point in the recruiting process, most of the recruiting wins and verbal commitments Oregon Football has landed have come from the offensive side of the ball. Players like 5-star OL Josh Connerly, 4-star WR Kyler Kasper, 4-star WR Jurrion Dickey, and 4-star RB Dante Dowdell have given Duck fans optimism about the playmakers they could have offensively in the coming years. Dan Lanning, as a national-champion defensive coordinator, has high expectations for the sorts of defensive players he will eventually get to commit to Oregon as well. On this episode of Locked On Ducks, Spencer McLaughlin discuss where Dan Lanning and his staff should prioritize their 2023 recruiting pursuits as it pertains to the current roster. The offensive line has been a clear strength in recent seasons, but aside from Josh Connerly the Ducks are lacking some depth because of some offseason transfers this year. Getting a premier EDGE rusher should also be of top concern for the defense of Dan Lanning and Tosh Lupoi. Oregon has landed its latest verbal commitment in the Class of 2023 as Lanning and co. look to build out their first full recruiting class. 4-star DB (safety) Kodi Decambra committed to Oregon over other Pac-12 schools including conference rivals Oregon State and Washington. Oregon Football has won the Pac-12 recruiting battle for four years in a row, with a lot of talented players both having come through and currently on the roster. The Class of 2023, though far from complete, Oregon has already landed talented verbal commitments and is still going after big-time recruits. The pursuit of a big-named quarterback recruit continues for the Ducks, and over the weekend 5-star QBs Jayden Rashada and Dante Moore showcased their talents at Overtime's 7v7 Tournament in Las Vegas. On today's episode of Locked On Ducks, Spencer McLaughlin shares his insights after doing some on-the-ground scouting of potential and future Oregon Football commits. Jurrion Dickey, an Oregon WR verbal commitment, impressed everybody over the weekend playing alongside Jayden Rashada. Spencer shares insights from speaking directly with all 3 of Moore, Rashada, and Dickey and what they had to say about Oregon. Oregon Basketball has lost a commitment in the Class of 2022, with 4-star PG Dior Johnson opening back up his recruitment. A one-time 5-star prospect, Johnson played at 10 high schools in 4 seasons, and despite his talent losing him is not a crushing blow for Oregon Basketball. Dana Altman is perfectly set with the backcourt this season and going forward, especially with Will Richardson back for one last campaign in Eugene. Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! Oregon Football is still waiting on their next high school QB commit as a progrum, with Jayden Rashada and Dante Moore still very much in the Ducks' sights as they look for a future signal caller. With other schools hot on the trail for both of those recruits as well, the Ducks are keeping their QB recruiting options open. A name that has recently emerged as a potential candidate, who scheduled an official visit with the ducks, is 4-star 2023 quarterback Avery Johnson from the state of Kansas. Kansas State may currently be in the lead for Johnson, but Oregon is far from out of the mix for the hyper-athletic QB. On today's episode of Locked On Ducks, Spencer McLaughlin is joined by John Garcia Jr., director of recruiting for Sports Illustrated. 5-star QB Jayden Rashada is considering Ole Miss, where his brother Roman Rashada just committed to as a JUCO prospect, but the likelihood that the brothers team up appears to be less likely than many think. Fellow 5-star QB recruit Dante Moore, who is perhaps the most traveled quarterback prospect in next year's recruiting class, continues to be someone that Oregon keeps on their radar. They conclude today's show talking about some of the defensive recruits that Dan Lanning and Tosh Lupoi are after in the class of 2023. Top EDGE prospect Jayden Wayne has removed every west coast team from his list--except for the Ducks--which could bode well for Oregon whenever he decides to commit. A name that has recently emerged as well is 2023 4-star LB Semaj Bridgeman, who is being heavily recruited by multiple SEC schools. Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! Over the last 4 years under Mario Cristobal, the recruiting prowess of Oregon Football got to heights it had never seen before--culminating in the program's highest-rated class of all time in 2021 (#6 nationally). One way they rose to power on the recruiting trail was by hitting California harder than ever before, bringing in big-time recruits like Justin Flowe and Kayvon Thibodeaux. Now that USC has Lincoln Riley, that sort of success in the state of California will be much more challenging to maintain. On this episode of Locked On Ducks, Spencer McLaughlin is joined by Max Torres of Sports Illustrated. Oregon has a bevy of young and talented WRs in addition to veteran transfer Chase Cota from UCLA. Quietly the Ducks and WR coach Junior Adams added another pass catcher, Caleb Chapman, who's last stop was Texas A&M. Max gives insight as to what sorts of states the Ducks need to have success in going forward with another major challenger on the trail for California recruits. He thinks Oregon should start in emerging recruiting states that are close to home like Washington and Arizona--but thinks this staff could have a recruiting reach all over the country. Oregon's early 2023 recruiting signs are strong at this point in Dan Lanning's first full cycle with the new staff. The next big domino Duck fans are waiting to fall is a big-time QB recruit...how important is it for the Ducks to get one of Jayden Rashada or Dante Moore? Even after the verbal commitment of 4-star RB Dante Dowdell, 5-star 23' RB Richard Young is still heavily considering the Ducks. Oregon was able to snag his last official visit over Ohio State. Oregon Football's leading candidate to be the starting QB at this point in time seems to be Auburn transfer Bo Nix. Though it seems unlikely, could there be ANY path in which Ty Thompson or Jay Butterfield is behind (or under) center against Georgia on September 3rd? One fan wants to know whether or not this "another fake QB battle"--likely alluding to the staff's insistence on playing Anthony Brown in all of 2021. On today's episode of Locked On Ducks, Spencer McLaughlin features multiple mailbag questions from listeners--1 segment being a bit more serious than the other. In all likelihood, barring an all-time showing in Fall camp from Ty Thompson or Jay Butterfield, Bo Nix will line up behind center on September 3rd against Georgia. One follower of the show asks Spencer to compare each Pac-12 team to a car brand...and he happily obliges. With car comparisons ranging from a yellow Lamborghini to a Toyota Tacoma, Spencer has the entire conference covered with the comparisons. Other featured cars include a Chevy Impala, a VW Bug, a Toyota Prius, and a Kia Soul. For the first time this century, Oregon Football has a head coach who comes from the defensive side of the ball. Typically, a team tends to be stronger on the side of the ball from which their head coach has a background as an assistant. This trend is very real and has to do with the overarching philosophy of how the head coach believes in winning football games--it is very reminiscent, for some of high school/middle school math class and how to solve equations. On today's episode of Locked On Ducks, Spencer McLaughlin responds to a mailbag question about forming an identity in college football. With Dan Lanning as the head coach, it's reasonable to expect that the best part of the Oregon Football program while he's the HC will be the defense. It may take time before that fully develops--it's important to remember this is Lanning's first ever job as a head football coach. Spencer has long anticipated that 4-year starter and All-Pac 12 performer Will Richardson would not return for a fifth season in Eugene. After testing the NBA waters, Richardson announced that he IS returning to Oregon for another year under Dana Altman. He has had a great career with the Ducks, and now poses the question...with transfers Keeshawn Barthelemy and Jermaine Couisnard coming over from power-5 programs, what will the starting lineup look like next year? The answer may lie in how ready 5-star center Kel'el Ware is to play right away, and how Dana Altman wants to approach the lineup. Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! With Dan Lanning at the helm, the early returns on recruiting for Oregon Football have been very strong and expectations for the sorts of players Lanning and his staff will bring in are growing. In the relatively isolated Pacific Northwest, sometimes recruiting can be more difficult when convincing players to travel far from home. One specific area to follow in recruiting is what sorts of states this staff will be able to utilize to bring in high-caliber players to Eugene. On this episode of Locked On Ducks, Spencer McLaughlin is joined by John Garcia Jr., director of recruiting for Sports Illustrated, to give insight on Oregon's latest 2023 recruiting pursuits. He shares his thoughts on which states Oregon could have success in given the potential recruiting prowess of this new staff. If Oregon is going to build on the success of the Mario Cristobal staff and bring in top-10 caliber recruiting classes nationally, the Ducks will have to find success in a variety of states, many coming from the south with coaching staff ties down there. The 2023 recruiting pursuits continue afoot as the Ducks look to win the Pac-12 recruiting battle for a 5th consecutive season. 5-star RB Richard Young is still involved with Oregon despite a recent verbal commitment from 2023 4-star RB Dante Dowdell--in addition to all the players Carlos Locklyn has added to his position group this offseason. John also provides an update on 5-star DL David Hicks out of TX--one state that the Ducks should look to grab multiple players out of each year despite the number of schools competing for kids in the Lone Star State. Oregon Football's offseason news headlines continue to roll in despite the team being off campus for Summer break. The staff finished the 2022 recruiting cycle about as strong as they could have, and they've continued to land verbal commitments to keep the momentum rolling. On today's episode of Locked On Ducks, Spencer McLaughlin is joined by Rian Winter (@SportsChat503) to discuss the latest news surrounding Oregon Football. It's still early in the 2023 recruiting cycle, but Dan Lanning and his staff are off to a superb start with a staff that has, historically, made names for themselves on the recruiting trail. The early returns are strong, and should make Duck fans excited about the recruiting potential of this staff once they get a full cycle. They conclude today's show talking about how Oregon's future scheduling could change now that the Pac-12 has nullified the importance of divisions. Oregon should want to play USC every year, and if the Pac-12 is smart they will make the Ducks and Trojans a "protected rivalry" that is one of their biggest games every year as it has been in the past. When Chip Kelly took over as Oregon's head football coach in 2009, his signature win came during the regular season at Autzen Stadium. On Halloween Night and a blackout Autzen Stadium, Chip Kelly's Ducks demoralized Pete Carroll's USC Trojans 47-20 and brought themselves onto the national stage in College Football. Now, after USC hit rock bottom in 2021 going 4-8, those two programs could once again be poised for nationally televised showdowns. Yesterday's episode featured a discussion of the pros and cons for Oregon Football should USC return to prominence under HC Lincoln Riley. On today's episode of Locked On Ducks, Spencer McLaughlin goes back in time to look at some of the biggest wins Oregon has attained over USC on the gridiron. Most notable in 2009 on Halloween Night, there have been some big-time showdowns between the (now) 2 biggest brands on the west coast in college football. Spencer's favorite moment of the Chip Kelly era, in fact, came in the LA Coliseum in the 2010 regular season--among many memorable performances in Oregon-USC football games. Will Richardson has still not formally announced his plans for the 2022-23 college basketball season, but other Ducks have for Dana Altman. Quincy Guerrier, after testing the NBA Draft waters, will indeed be back for Oregon next season. When Chip Kelly was the head coach of Oregon Football, the years that featured regular season matchups with USC always had a big circle on the calendar. The Trojans bottomed out in 2022 going 4-8 and firing Clay Helton, but now have reloaded with former Oklahoma head coach Lincoln Riley. They figure to be a major player in the coming years in the Pac-12 with Riley at the helm, and that might not be all bad news for the Ducks. On this episode of Locked On Ducks, Spencer McLaughlin looks at what it might mean for Oregon if USC returns to its former glory. There are certainly downsides for the Ducks, but it might not all be bad news if the Trojans become a yearly contender in the Pac-12. It could, in a certain year, help Oregon remain competitive in the College Football Playoff discussion if they have an early-season stumble. The second JUCO player that Dana Altman and Oregon Basketball are adding in the Class of 2022 is Brennan Rigsby. A skinny 6'3" shooter from Northwest Florida State College, it might be tough at first for him to carve out a major role on the roster. Oregon has, however, had success at that school before--it is the former alma mater of Indiana Pacers SG/SF Chris Duarte, who had a sensational career with the Ducks. After coming over from a great defensive program in Cal, Tim Deruyter had Duck fans feeling like there wouldn't be much of a drop off after losing Andy Avalos to Boise St (where he became the HC). Instead, there were real areas of weakness for the Ducks defensively in 2021 that contributed to a disappointing end to the season. Despite question marks in the secondary, Oregon's defense could still take a leap forward in 2022 compared to last year. On this episode of Locked On Ducks, Spencer McLaughlin examines the statistical performance of Oregon's defense last year and where they most need to improve. The passing defense stands out as an area for growth, but there are two other areas where Oregon was even worse: third down and the red zone. Dan Lanning and DC Tosh Lupoi could help this defense (and the team) dramatically if those numbers can improve in 2022. Dana Altman has found some serious success in the past bringing in JUCO players to Eugene, including Chris Duarte and Chris Boucher. Tyrone Williams, coming to Eugene by way of Grayson County College in TX, should be another NJCAA transfer that has Oregon fans' attention. An athletic lefty combo guard who can shoot (led the NJCAA in scoring last year) he could very well fill the void left by Eric Williams off the bench. Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! One reason Dan Lanning has Oregon Football fans excited about his hire is that his defense at Georgia last year with Kirby Smart was one of the best the sport has seen in recent memory. With the flurry of offensive coaches hired in recent years, the Ducks may very well be one of the few programs in the country that has a defense-first approach to winning games. The recent history of Lanning and DC Tosh Lupoi indicates that Oregon should be able to upgrade statistically on that side of the ball from a season ago. On this episode of Locked On Ducks, Spencer McLaughlin discusses the expectations for the Ducks on the defensive side of the ball with a new HC and new DC running the show. With key personnel losses from last year's roster (Kayvon Thibodeaux, Verone McKinley, and Mykael Wright among them), there are some questions for Oregon's defense going into 2022. Still, the pedigree of the two primary coaches in charge of the defense alone should, in theory, be enough to be better than the Ducks were a season ago. Today's show concludes with a continuation of a listener's mailbag question about Oregon Basketball, with incoming 5-star freshman C Kel'el Ware next up on the list of incoming players to break down. Dana Altman will have a lot of new faces in the 2022-23 season as he enters year 13 in Eugene, with multiple freshman and JUCO players making their way up to Matthew Knight Arena ahead of next year. Ware by far has the most hype as one of the highest-rated recruits in Oregon Basketball history, and his unique physical attributes should allow him to be an early contributor for the Ducks as a true freshman. 4-star WR in the Class of 2023 is the latest Oregon Duck recruit to "flip" from another school, joining 2022 4-star RB Jordan James--who was originally committed to Georgia. The Ducks have also had players flip their commitments in the other direction and opt not to come to Eugene. The process for changing a recruit's final destination can get underway sooner than many fans probably think in the recruiting process and timeline. On this episode of Locked On Ducks, Spencer McLaughlin is joined by John Garcia Jr.--director of recruiting for Sports Illustrated--to discuss the non-stop cycle that is college football recruiting. Ashton Cozart is a little raw as a WR prospect, but has blazing speed and projects as a downfield threat. Cozart hails from the state of Texas, but the Ducks' recruiting interests are heading even further east with 23' 5-star OL Samson Okunlola (from Massachusetts) now on their radar. Oregon Football continues to land offensive skill players in the Class of 2023, despite not having a high-end QB recruit who has committed to the Ducks. Oregon remains in pursuit of 2023 5-star QBs Dante Moore and Jayden Rashada and appear squarely in the mix for both. Oregon Football has landed its fifth verbal commitment for the 2023 recruiting class. 4-star WR Ashton Cozart, a former Oklahoma commit, flipped to Dan Lanning and the Ducks on Sunday and joins fellow 23' 4-star WR Jurrion Dickey as future playmakers on the perimeter. Who they might one day be catching passes from is still up in the air with the looming commitments of 5-star QBs Jayden Rashada and Dante Moore. Cozart should remind Oregon fans of current WR (and former 4-star recruit) Troy Franklin, a player poised for a major leap forward in 2022. On this episode of Locked On Ducks, Spencer McLaughlin discusses the latest verbal commitment for the Ducks in the Class of 2023. Oregon and its new staff have once again shown themselves capable of winning recruiting battles in addition to having a strong geographical reach--a crucial element to recruiting at a high level. Dan Lanning and co. are setting recruiting expectations high, and that's good news for Duck fans. Today's episode concludes with a mailbag question about NIL in light of the ongoing feud between Nick Saban and Jimbo Fisher. As a university, Oregon has shown themselves to be a school that is embracing NIL opportunities for their student-athletes. That's a good thing for Dan Lanning and his staff, who are at a school in the Ducks that is perfectly poised to capitalize on NIL when it comes to being used as a recruiting tool. How the Pac-12's recent major rule change affects Oregon Football

Starting with the 2022 season, winning the Pac-12 North will no longer automatically get Oregon Football a berth in the Pac-12 championship game. The conference announced that rather than the two division winners, the championship game will be played between the two teams with the highest conference winning percentage. If this rule had always been the case, multiple Oregon Football teams from the last decade would have had the opportunity to play for a conference crown. On this episode of Locked On Ducks, Spencer McLaughlin looks at how Oregon Football is impacted by a conference-wide change from new commissioner George Kliavkoff. This move will eventually cause a shift in how Pac-12 games are scheduled, assuming divisions do in fact go away one day as this sort of move would indicate. Oregon could start not playing teams that they've been required to play in the past as a result. We are 106 days away from the season opener against Georgia in the Chick-fil-a Kickoff in Atlanta for the 2022 season. It appears Oregon is going to go into the game as an underdog--a heavy one, as it turns out. Should Oregon really be a 16.5 point underdog against the reigning national champs? Recent 4-star RB commit Dante Dowdell could be compared to several past Oregon running backs, but Royce Freeman may very well be his best comparison. He also might remind some Duck fans of Jeremiah Johnson, a big and physical back who does a lot of damage between the tackles. His addition is another win for new RB coach Carlos Locklyn, who is clearly intent on bringing a physical presence to Oregon's backfield for Dan Lanning. On this episode of Locked On Ducks, Spencer McLaughlin is joined by Max Torres--host of the 'Ducks Dish' podcast covering Oregon for Sports Illustrated. Max weighs in on Dowdell's commitment to the Ducks and how Oregon was able to get him to come to Eugene all the way from Mississippi. Plus, insight into the ongoing recruitment of 2023 5-star QB Jayden Rashada, who could provide this staff with the opportunity to do what the previous administration could not: develop and MAXIMIZE a young QB. Finally, they conclude talking about 4-star WR Kyler Kasper, a recent Oregon commit on the perimeter on offense. He is the sort of big-bodied receiver that the Ducks haven't often had in recent years. Alongside sophomores Dont'e Thornton and Troy Franklin, Kasper could work his way into the fold at times this year as someone who represents a 1v1 threat on the outside in Kenny Dillingham's offense.
