From 1946 to 2016 planet earth was fortunate enough to be graced by a giant among men. The gunfighters' gunfighter, the riflemans' rifleman, the Marine's Marine, the cops' cop and the firearms instructor's instructor one Patrick Rogers. Today I hosted a roundtable with three guy's who spent a large amount of time with Pat. DB from the west coast, Wayne from Texas and Justin Dyal from the east coast. Their locations alone speak to the broad spanning legacy Pat left on the shooting community. Caution there is some 'Colorful Language' in this episode. Thanks for letting me host this episode to pay tribute to such great man. The post Episode 80- Honoring Pat Rogers with Wayne Dobbs, Justin Dyal and Darryl Bolke first appeared on The Off Duty On Duty Podcast.

How do find the right school for kids on the spectrum when school ratings are based on the test scores of neuro-typical kids? Chuck & Judy share some hard-earned knowledge from their own search for a better place for their "LG." You have to get your hands dirty and do some digging. This episode I'm joined by my buddy and color grader, Reed Means again to continue our discussion about color, both in movies and stills, and just what the language of color means for the way we express ourselves with our art. Colorful language can really be observed in movies (and I'm not talking four-letter words here) because color helps a story along by setting an emotional tone to a scene. So how does that translate to still images? Does it translate to still images? Stills have a slight disadvantage when it comes to this because they have to package everything into one still frame. Your eye needs to be caught and your emotions grabbed immediately. There are no preceding scenes to get you prepared for what you're about to see. Expect more episodes with Reed in the future as we continue this great discussion about color. What do you think would happen if you never told your child the sky was blue? The answer is pretty stunning. He or she would tell you the exact same thing that Homer and other ancient speakers if you asked them what color the sky is. It took a lot more work than usual, but Feeding the Monkey was completely enthralled with the answer to this listener question. Marsupials – we have a few in North America but of course, the land that’s known for them is Australia. Why are there so many of them on that continent? What happened to the rest of ours? Did we ever have any? These cute little critters are weighing in on the Monkey’s mind, so let’s go feed them! And don’t forget, if you ever have a question bouncing around in your mind, write us at monkey@feedingthemonkey.com.

Texan for Linguists; by Katy Jo Parker and Truman ‘Tex’ Beauregard; From Volume CLXI, Number 3, of Speculative Grammarian, April 2011 — This article is not about the descriptively interesting linguistic features of Texan dialects of English (such as incipient “fixin’”, singular “they”, modal stacking, second person plural “y’all”, “ain’t” and “cain’t”, “bidness”, “coke” for “soda”, etc.) nor is it about any of the interesting Spanish-related linguistic phenomena in Texas (such as “Spanglish”, Chicano and Tejano English, code-switching, or Pachuco slang).
