Currently Mike's got a product out on Kickstarter right now called SaniGrip, which is an amazing sanitary solution for shopping cart handles. So, really excited to have you on the show Mike, thank you so much for being here. Mike DeGrazia: Of course. It's great to be on happy to introduce the product and tell a little bit more about myself. Roy Morejon: Yeah, let's do that because I think you've truly solved a true real-world problem that all of us have dealt with not only over the past year, but for previous years of any time you start going to the grocery store, just that question mark, of what's on this shopping cart? What's on the handle there? So, let's talk a little bit about that inspiration and where it began. Mike DeGrazia: Yeah, of course. No, it's definitely a problem that a lot of Americans and even grocery shoppers all around the world have experienced. It's dealing with the public shopping cart handles where you don't know how many germs and bacteria are presently on that current shopping cart handle. And, especially given the current pandemic that we're in, I felt like there was definitely a need for this product. And I mean, this is something that can help keep everyone safe while doing their daily shopping errands. And, more specifically, most of these parents that travel around and do these errands with our kids in the car. Mike DeGrazia: It's just a great way to keep their kids clean. And I know some of these children, young children like to bite and lick on these shopping cart handles.

Originating from western Massachusetts, Mike found his way over to Holliston because of family and work after an incredible upbringing in Chicopee! When he graduated high school, he initially started out commuting to Western New England on a path towards a career in pharmacy because he saw the $$$. He eventually discovered that pharmacy was definitely not his calling. He took a turn and decided to pursue a career in computer science. After his freshman year, he transferred to UMass Amherst where he was able to enjoy the full college experience. Once Mike finished college, he continued with his college summer job at circuit city working as a car audio installation specialist. Eventually, MathWorks reached out to him about a job, and then he proudly illustrates how he has moved up within the company over the past 13 years.Later on we talk about how he met his wife, Kyla, through his cousin who was close friends with Kyla in high school and through college. Kyla expressed interest in Mike during their high school years, but unfortunately Mike was taken at the time and had to respectfully decline. Ultimately, the timing worked out where they were able to finally get together over a spring break during college. Everything happens for a reason!Currently Mike lives with his wife (and Firewall member) Kyla, his two daughters Lily and Lexi, 1 dog - Daisy the beagle, and 4 chickens, which he explains WHY he originally got the chickens. (Hint: buzz buzz)As a kid, Mike always played soccer. However as an adult, he fell in love with the sport of hockey! Mike parallels his hockey league with CrossFit meaning people of all different skill levels are playing with each other side by side with endless amounts of support.Be sure to listen the whole way through as Mike absolutely crushes our questions for him at the end!Thank you so much for coming on the show Mike! We discuss his beginnings, what inspires his work as well as discussing his techniques used as he applies color and creates his masterpieces. Hope you enjoy this fun chat with Mike Luna. Hello! My name is Michael Luna, I was born in Torrence, CA in 1978. I was raised in Santa Fe Springs CA up until I was 15 then I moved to O'brien Oregon to start High School at Illinois Valley High. After high school in 1996 I moved back to Los Angeles where I work in automotive retail. By this time my older brother (Chris) had already started his journey of glassblowing. He would tell me on the phone how cool it was! So fast forward to 1999 when I get a phone call from Chris, he said "hey bro, wanna job" I dropped my whole life and moved back to Oregon. I worked in a production shop ran by a guy named Gilbert Velosco (still friends till this day) throughout the time I was there I made friends with a soon to be legend, Darby Holm. Darby took me under his wing and started to apprentice me in about 2000. learning under Darby changed my life! He and the Holms are like family to me. Well, I'm still in Oregon constantly learning and trying different things with glass. Exceptional among modern fiddlers for his versatility and depth, Anger has helped drive the evolution of the contemporary string band through his involvement with numerous pathbreaking ensembles such as his Republic Of Strings, the Turtle Island String Quartet, the David Grisman Quintet, Montreux, his Duo with Mike Marshall, and others. He has performed and taught all over the world with musicians such as Dr. Billy Taylor, Bela Fleck, Bill Evans, Edgar Meyer, Bill Frisell, David Grisman, Tony Rice, Tim O’Brien, The Anonymous 4, Marin Alsop and the Cabrillo Orchestra, the Detroit Symphony, Mark O’Connor, and Stephane Grappelli. Mike Marshall made his Carnegie Hall debut at the age of 20 with jazz violin legend Stephane Grappelli as a member of the David Grisman Quartet. In 1985 he would perform in that famed hall with his own classical ensemble The Modern Mandolin Quartet in 1985. Mike has been at the forefront of New Acoustic music for over 40 years having been the founding member of many groups including the Montreux Band, Psychograss, Choro Famoso and The Anger Marshall Band. Between 1999 and 2003 Mike collaborated with Joshua Bell, Edgar Meyer, Bela Fleck and Sam Bush on two separate projects. These groups toured the U.S.A. extensively and performed at the Aspen Music Festival, San Francisco Performances and Chamber Music at Lincoln Center, NY. Both ensembles were nominated for Grammy Awards for their Sony Classical releases. In 2014 Mike was nominated for his third Grammy Award for his recording with the Turtle Island Quartet. Comment on the episode here or write thebatcavepodcast@gmail.com Michael Bailey has an illness. While most people would call his comic book collecting a hobby he knows what it really is - a hopeless addiction. Luckily he has harnessed this personality defect into a weekly Internet radio show. Mike is a DC guy but likes Marvel just fine. He prefers the super-hero genre but frankly as long as it is a solid read he'll try just about any sort of comic. Mike is a Pieces, (his birthday is February 29th as a matter of fact) enjoys cold weather and enjoys a variety of hobbies that rarely involve the outdoors. Currently Mike lives in the Fortress of Baileytude, which is carved into the side of a mountain above scenic Fayetteville, GA. Somehow he has lucked into having a beautiful wife named Rachel, who is very much an enabler and, for some reason, puts up with his dumb ass. Together they own a small poodle named Boo, the cutest six pounds of evil you will ever see. His day job is acting like a department manager for a big box office supply store.
