Based on the textbook definition, to recreate means “to impart fresh life to; refresh mentally or physically.” It also means, “to create (something) again, duplicate.” As we experience the greatest public health crisis in our lifetimes, what does it mean for us to “recreate” during these trying times? For some of us, our attempts may remind us of Denise Huxtable's infamous recreation of the “Gordon Gartrell” shirt, much to her brother Theo's chagrin. While we are all wading through this pandemic, the Tangent Talk examines current themes by imparting ‘fresh/new life' and meaning. Special guest, Miss Starr, a talented host and spoken word artist joins us for this fun episode! Today's guest is Clayton Prince. Clayton, a native of the Germantown section of Philadelphia was acting in off Broadway shows with the likes of Robert Downey Jr at the age of 17. Graduating HS, Clayton received a scholarship to study math at Temple University but dropped out when a professor would not let him reschedule a final exam when the time conflicted with an audition he needed to attend. At that moment, Clayton decided to go all in and purse his dream of becoming an actor. Clayton gave up his scholarship, dropped out of college and moved to NYC vowing never to return to Philly until he succeeded. At one point, Clayton was sleeping on the couch in a crack house in Brooklyn and living on $7 a day when his big break came. Clayton auditioned for and won the role of Lisa Bonnet's (Denise Huxtable) boyfriend on the second season of The Cosby Show. Clayton not only got the part but he literally stole the show. He ad libbed the scene and became known as the Reggae singing boyfriend in an episode that not only broke a Neilson ratings record but became the #1 rated Cosby show all time. Overnight, Clayton went from struggling actor to needing police to help him get out of the NYC subway the day after the episode aired. Clayton and I discuss the tough road he traveled to make it as an actor. how he and fellow actor Blair Underwood had to sell children's to support them themselves between acting gigs, and what it was like to star in cult classic movies like The Last Dragon and Hair Spray. Clayton tells us what it was like growing up with a father coming in out of his life and why he believes parents should let their children find their own way and not have expectations on path their kids need to take. We also talk how Clayton got into Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, the lessons he learned in BJJ that helped him succeed in acting and what it was like to get his blue belt from UFC legend Royce Gracie. Clayton shares an amazing story of his Dad's secret business and the time when his Dad was confronted by the Philadelphia mob. Clayton also talks about his new tour company came and what it is like to be an entrepreneur. So… Thank you for listening. If you like what you hear, please HIT the SUBSCRIBE BUTTON. We have a bunch of cool interviews, like this one, to come. Enjoy my conversation on with Clayton Prince, star of The Cosby Show, The Last Dragon and Hair Spray, student of Brazilian jiu jitsu and entrepreneur. And remember… “Life is built, not born”. Today, we're discussing NBC's college sitcom, A Different World! A spin-off of the critically-acclaimed Cosby Show, this series began by following the Cosby's second-eldest daughter, the aimless Denise Huxtable, as she started her journey of higher education at Hillman College, a fictitious amalgam of Spelman and Morehouse Colleges. This sitcom chronicling the HBCU experience was much-needed and hadn't been attempted before, or since. So what do we think made this series so enjoyable? Stay tuned!

A concept mix inspired by Denise Huxtable, the Cosby daughter everyone had a crush on. Her spirit encapsulated an alternative but attractive take on style. Her attitude commanded the world follow her, not the other way around. So imagine a mix that she'd dance to with no regard if you liked it or not. Her taste was not mainstream but soulful, enlightening and "Dream A Little Dream" is my ode to Denise.Follow DJ Franchise:Instagram: @iknowfranchiseTwitch: DJFranchiseTwitter: @iknowfranchiseSupport the show (https://www.instagram.com/iknowfranchise/)
The biggest problem people have these days is too many irons in the fire. you will never be successful at ANYTHING, unless you focus at being your best at ONE thing. The notion of having multiple gigs is a recipe for disaster. Focus on one, be successful at that and the rest will follow. On this episode, we interview Ehmandah Ramsey owner of 210E Workspace, a co-working location in Claremont, California (www.210e.co). Ehmandah is also the founder of She Stories where real women share real stories (www.shestories.co). Listen to her story of how with tenacity and perseverance, Ehmandah was able to overcome her "Denise Huxtable" phase.

In this episode, Black Hollywood Live hosts Derrial Christon, Jesse Janedy and Courtney Stewart interview special guest Kristoff St. John. St. John portrayed a young Alex Haley in the ABC miniseries Roots: The Next Generations. He also made a small but notable appearance as Booker Brown on the ABC sitcom Happy Days, as well as a boyfriend of Denise Huxtable on an early episode of The Cosby Show. In his first major role, he appeared as Charlie Richmond, Jr. on the CBS sitcom Charlie & Co., along with Flip Wilson, Gladys Knight, and Jaleel White. St. John's first major soap role was Adam Marshall on the NBC soap opera Generations, the first daytime drama to feature a core African American family from its inception. After Generations was cancelled in 1991, he originated the role of Neil Winters on The Young and the Restless, where he continues to appear to this day. A cast member for 20 years, no African American actor has appeared on Y&R more frequently than St. John. In 1992, he won the
