The world isn't getting easier—and raising kids who can stand firm in it won't happen by accident. Today I'm joined by Dr. Matthew Weathers of Bob Jones University to talk about raising young people with character, conviction, competence, and courage. We're talking about why kids need to do hard things, why parents have to model what we want our children to become, and how to prepare them to stand for Christ when the culture pushes back. Remember, we can't pass on what we don't possess.Angel Studios — Stream Seeking Persephone, a beautiful Regency-era love story built on character, trust, and forgiveness, at Join To Watch Seeking Persephone | Angel .Learn more about Bob Jones University and opportunities for homeschool families at Visit BJU and Homeschool Students .Shop MyFreedomCart for trusted, American-made products that support your values. My Freedom Cart — Buy Direct. My guest in this full length episode is Sara Bird, of Flight, an organisation supporting women aged fifty and upwards to remain healthy, engaged and productive as their careers extend. Applying her PHD research and lived experience, enables Sara to produce world leading - evidence based health span and longevity strategies. Her organization (Flight) is a workforce advisory, education and mentoring practice, of which is essential to women in the workplace, due to declining health spans in women over 60, leading towards material business risk, impact retention, productivity, absence and institutional knowledge. Sara has appeared on national TV shows and also written a book titled Fatorexia: What Do You See When You Look In The Mirror. On a personal level, Sara shares her own journey from weight management and body fat reduction to raising her children, whilst simultaneously overseeing a director position within various national and international companies. We discuss obesity related health implications and the long term consequences stemming from excess weight gain. Whilst we both work within the health and fitness sector, both Sara and I are always open to new strategies, of which the topic of weight loss medications comes into our conversation and how to navigate its's pros and cons respectively. We also touch on how our physical health impacts relationships with families, friends, work colleagues and significant others, whereby Sara opens up about her experiences, good and bad from a young age to her current 61 years young. May I take the opportunity to thank Sara for joining me on this channel and wish her the best in her professional career and personal endeavours going forward. In this episode, Dr. Thomas Hemingway explores one of the central ideas behind his upcoming book, The Biology of Becoming: How to Partner With Your Biology and Become the Person You Were Created to Be. Drawing from current research and more than two decades of medicine, he explains why metabolism adapts, why muscle is so important for metabolic health, how something as simple as a walk after dinner can change your glucose response, and why sleep, nutrition, movement, stress, relationships, and purpose are all biological conversations happening inside you every day. You'll also hear real-world stories and walk away with simple actions you can begin today—without another extreme diet, complicated protocol, or pursuit of perfection. Because lasting health isn't built in dramatic moments. It's built through the signals you repeat. Change the signals, and you can begin changing your biology—and the person you're becoming.Remember, Your body isn't broken. It's responding. Every choice is a signal. August 13th, 2026: What does being "productive" actually mean when you stop comparing your life to hundreds of other people's lives online? In this solo episode of The Mom Room, I'm chatting about a few things that have been on my mind lately, starting with the fact that I've somehow fallen back into my old habit of making MASSIVE to-do lists. Summer has been amazing, but being out of our normal routine, constantly changing schedules, and trying to fit work into unpredictable weeks has definitely made staying organized a little harder. I'm already looking ahead to September and some new work habits I want to try, including time blocking and being much more intentional about what actually needs to get done.I also share my ridiculously quick and easy morning makeup routine with our friends at MERIT Beauty. Getting ready has never been easier, and it fits perfectly with this season of wanting things to feel simpler, not more complicated. Then we get into another major change I've noticed since I stopped mindlessly scrolling social media: I've completely changed the way I think about productivity. When you're constantly consuming other people's routines, workouts, meals, businesses, homes, parenting, habits and endless "productive day in my life" content, it's very easy to feel like you're never doing enough. Since I stopped watching what everyone else is doing, I'm much more relaxed about my own days. I'm focusing on what I actually want to prioritize instead of subconsciously adopting everyone else's priorities. And finally... I clarify what I meant when I said on Instagram Stories this week that I cannot stand the "woe is me" content people post for engagement. Because apparently I had some thoughts.
Let's think about what writing our own eulogies can teach us about the life we're living now and what we want it to stand for.Coaching with Sarah - All details HEREBook a call to see if coaching is for you HEREJoin my email club HEREBuy the best-selling book Drink Less; Live Better HERE or order from anywhere you usually buy your books.Subscribe to my 5 day Drink Less Email Series HEREDownload my Habit Tracker HEREDid you know I've HIDDEN a podcast episode? It's your secret weapon at 5pm if you are feeling cravings for alcohol. You can listen HEREBTW - If you didn't already know, I'm Sarah - Drink Less; Live Better founder, best-selling author, expert speaker, life coach and, as you already know, podcast host!We don't have to hit rock bottom, we're allowed to want something different and we can CHOOSE to improve our lives from this point onwards.I work in the magic space where doubt, hope and action meet... oh.... andPS I believe in you!Let's get connected;on Facebookon instaCheck out Drink Less; Live Better for blog posts and moreSubscribe to this podcast so you don't miss an episode - also please do leave a like or review and share the love! August 6th, 2026: In this episode of The Live Better Project, I'm sharing one of the biggest changes I've noticed since I stopped mindlessly scrolling social media: my attention span is coming back. For years, I couldn't watch a TV show without checking my phone, read a book during the day without getting distracted, or simply enjoy a moment without wondering if I should be filming it for social media. Even conversations were constantly interrupted by notifications or the urge to check my phone. But after just a few weeks of intentionally putting my phone down for longer periods of time, something surprising happened.I can sit through an entire episode of Big Brother without reaching for my phone. I can read in the middle of the day. I can have uninterrupted conversations. I can enjoy experiences without feeling like every moment needs to become content. It's not perfect, but the difference has been shocking. In this episode, we discuss:How mindless scrolling changed my ability to focusWhy every moment doesn't need to become contentThe surprising speed at which attention can recoverWhy being present feels so much more fulfilling than documenting everythingSmall habits that helped me spend less time on my phoneIf you've ever wondered where your attention span went, this episode is for you.THANK YOU TO OUR SPONSORS!Bellesa - Today's episode is sponsored by Bellesa Boutique! How do you live with the ever-looming uncertainty of being a gene carrier for a fatal disease? Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis—better known as ALS or Lou Gehrig's disease—was long believed not to be genetic. Today, however, research shows that 10-15% of cases are linked to the mutation of various genes. The journey of potential future illness is one Mindy Uhrlaub has navigated since 2018, when she learned that she carries the C9OF72 genetic mutation. Since losing her grandfather and then her mother to ALS, Mindy has navigated the precariousness of questioning every symptom she develops, the hard knowledge that her children could also be carriers, and the decisions that come with any life-changing diagnosis: how will this knowledge impact my approach to the present and the future? In Mindy's case, it has led her to advocacy and authorship. She is a founder of the End the Legacy community for carriers of ALS and FTD (frontotemporal degeneration) and the author of the Amazon bestseller, “Last Nerve: A Memoir of Illness and the Endurance of Family.” Everyone with chronic illness or the genetic potential to develop it must select a unique path. Mindy has chosen to immerse herself in the promise the future holds. She takes every preventative step available to her, including avoiding chemical exposure and inflammatory foods and taking an ALS drug prophylactically. Through End the Legacy, she and other community members pursue policy change and education through webinars and summits. She participates in numerous studies and shares the struggle of facing down the inevitable emotional triggers. For Mindy, this approach is not about fearlessness but about devoting her time, and her heart, to the life-affirming aspects of her unpredictable situation. Precision Hormone Health: Testosterone, Menopause, Muscle, Sleep, and Proactive Longevity: Endocrinologist Dr. Florence Comite details her book “Invincible: Defy Your Genetic Destiny to Live Better, Longer” and her precision-medicine approach to proactive longevity. She discusses testosterone decline beginning in the 30s in both sexes, stress-related low T (including in special forces), and testosterone's roles in energy, cognition, motivation, muscle, bone, and chronic disease risk. Comite argues genes are a “draft” and health destiny can be altered through epigenetic-like choices, individualized data, and early monitoring. For women, she emphasizes estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone in perimenopause/menopause, preferring bioidentical hormones and criticizing WHI's use of Premarin/Provera and older participants. She covers osteoporosis prevention, muscle as an “organ of longevity,” protein intake, resistance training, continuous glucose monitors for individualized diet, sleep quality tracking via wearables, and selective use of DHEA, pregnenolone, growth hormone pathways, and peptides with attention to sourcing and risk.
Longevity expert Dr Florence Comite joins me to explain why testosterone, not estrogen, drives body composition and ageing in midlife women. Decline isn't inevitable - it's programmable. She unpacks why testosterone (which women carry in larger amounts than estrogen) drives muscle, visceral fat and brain fog from your 30s on, why only a third of us should fast, and the five biomarkers - fasting glucose, HbA1c, fasting insulin, cholesterol risk ratio and free testosterone - that predict where your healthspan is headed and how to change it. WHAT YOU'LL LEARN Why women carry more circulating testosterone than estrogen, and what its decline does to muscle, visceral fat and cognition from your 30s What "I don't feel like myself anymore" is actually signalling beneath the surface How cortisol quietly drives the anxiety-out-of-nowhere, the 2am wake-ups and the stubborn weight around your middle Why only a third of women should fast, and the 3-hour glucose test that tells you which third you're in What the five non-negotiable biomarkers reveal about where your healthspan is headed TIMESTAMPS 00:00 Intro: Why You Don't Feel Like Yourself After 35 - Peak Health, Testosterone Decline & the 30s Shift 05:52 - Perimenopause, Cortisol & Anxiety Out of Nowhere: Belly Fat, Sleep and the Caregiver Load 13:28 - Wearables, CGM & the Fasting Third/Third/Third: Measuring How Your Body Really Ages 20:11 - Who Should Actually Fast: The 3-Hour Glucose Test, Protein at Every Meal & the Oatmeal Trap 27:00 - Testosterone for Body Composition & Energy: UK Access, the 2024 Study & Protein for Muscle 33:46 - The 5 Biomarkers That Predict How You Age - Plus the 7 Patterns of Health Decline 39:37 - Decade by Decade for Women vs Men: Bone Loss, Osteoporosis, Andropause & Owning Your Healthspan VALUABLE RESOURCES - Invincible (Dr Comite's new book): https://www.penguin.co.uk/books/475986/invincible-by-comite-florence/9781529977066 - Dr Florence Comite's website: https://www.comitemd.com/ - Follow Dr Comite on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/drflorencecomite/ AlgaeCal Plus*‡: Science-backed supplements designed to support healthy aging

July 30th, 2026: What happens when you stop mindlessly scrolling social media? In this episode of The Live Better Project, I'm sharing one (of five) of the biggest changes I've noticed since stepping away from scrolling and consuming content mindlessly... and it has nothing to do with screen time.I've stopped caring about what I look like!I'm wearing less makeup, throwing my hair in a messy bun, leaving the house without worrying about looking "put together," and feeling more like myself than I have in years. We talk about why constantly consuming curated images changes the way we see ourselves, how comparison quietly becomes our baseline, and why removing that constant input has been one of the most freeing changes I've made.In this episode, we discuss:Why I care so much less about my appearance nowHow social media quietly changes what we think is "normal"Why comparison happens even when we don't realize itThe freedom that comes from being your regular, authentic selfTHANK YOU TO OUR SPONSORS!Bellesa - EVERYONE who signs up wins a FREE Viral ROSE suction toy with your order! https://www.bboutique.co/vibe/themomroom-podQuince - Refresh your summer wardrobe with Quince. All links mentioned in the post can be found here: https://simplysquaredaway.com/179 Have you ever looked around your home and wondered, "How did we end up with so much stuff?" Or maybe you've organized the same drawer, closet, or office over and over, only to feel overwhelmed again a few weeks later. If you've ever thought minimalism wasn't for you because you pictured empty white rooms, getting rid of everything you own, or living with only 33 items in your closet, this episode might completely change your perspective. Today I'm joined by Stephanie Seferian, host of the Sustainable Minimalist Podcast. Stephanie discovered minimalism after becoming a mom and realizing she was spending all of her free time cleaning, organizing, and managing stuff instead of actually enjoying her life. Since then, she's helped thousands of people rethink what it means to live with less. In our conversation, Stephanie shares why minimalism isn't about deprivation. It's about intentionally creating more space for the things that matter most. We also talk about how this mindset shows up in business, the hidden stress that comes from consumerism, and why having less can actually give you so much more. What You'll Learn: What minimalism really means (and what it doesn't) Why owning less creates more freedom, peace, and mental space How becoming a parent completely changed Stephanie's perspective on stuff The surprising connection between minimalism, organization, and happiness How consumer culture keeps us buying things we don't actually need Why experiences and relationships matter more than possessions How Stephanie built a successful podcast around her passion for sustainable minimalism What happened when she chose to prioritize her mission over maximizing revenue Practical ways to begin embracing minimalism without becoming overwhelmed

It was about connection. In this first conversation with Zach, JP sits down with the former Head of Mental Performance and Coach Development for the Arizona Diamondbacks, on staff during their 2023 World Series run, to explore what he learned about servant leadership, building genuine relationships across a roster, and the principle most leaders quietly overlook: go see the work. July 23, 2026: Welcome back to The Living Better Project! This week we're talking about one of the hardest, but most freeing, skills to practice: saying no.So many of us automatically say yes to invitations, commitments, and opportunities without stopping to think about what they actually require. We don't just commit to the event, we commit to the preparation, the travel, the mental energy, the recovery afterward, and everything else that comes with it.Lately, I've been fully embracing my "saying no" era, and it's been one of the biggest contributors to feeling happier, calmer, and more like myself. Because every time we say yes to something we don't genuinely want to do, we're often saying no to the things that actually fill us up.For me, that has meant more family walks, cozy evenings watching Big Brother (I can't believe I stopped watching it!), finally tackling projects around the house I've been putting off for years, and, my newest obsession, painting.Yes... I officially caught the painting bug.I share how I randomly discovered this new hobby, why it's become one of the most relaxing parts of my week, how my social media algorithm has transformed into a peaceful stream of artists instead of endless noise, and why I think every adult deserves a hobby that makes them completely lose track of time.In this episode we discuss:Why we overcommit ourselves without realizing itThe hidden cost of saying yes to everythingWhy every "yes" is also a "no" to something elseHow protecting your time creates more space for joyThe surprising benefits of finding a hobby as an adultWhy painting has quickly become one of my favorite ways to unwindIf you're trying to build a life that feels calmer, more intentional, and more like you, this episode is a reminder that sometimes the biggest life upgrade isn't adding something new, it's giving yourself permission to say no.THANK YOU TO OUR SPONSORS!Bellesa - EVERYONE who signs up wins a FREE Viral ROSE suction toy with your order! https://www.bboutique.co/vibe/themomroom-podQuince - Refresh your summer wardrobe with Quince. For this limited series Gene is joined by the perfect guest for the subject: Brian Tramel, the owner, founder, and president of STSPod.club, and, more importantly for this story, a man who was right there in Jonesboro watching Ozark Mountain Wrestling unfold as it happened. This episode heads back to 1995, when Memphis wrestling was struggling, the USWA still considered Jonesboro part of its turf, and Bert Prentice decided to plant his flag in Arkansas with a promotion built on local talent, old-school promotion, TV exposure, sponsorships, giveaways, gimmick tables, and one hell of a lot of hustle. The heart of this episode is Bert Prentice as a promoter. Gene and Brian make it clear that Bert was not just some guy running outlaw shows. He understood how to work a town. He got TV. He walked into businesses. He sold sponsorships. He got free tickets into people's hands. He built a local identity. He made Jonesboro feel like Ozark Mountain Wrestling belonged to them, and that is why the promotion had a real buzz almost immediately. This episode also captures the strange space Ozark Mountain Wrestling occupied. It was technically an outlaw group in USWA territory, but it had television, local sponsorships, packed armory shows, real momentum, and a promoter who knew exactly how to squeeze every dollar out of the building without making the fans feel cheated. It was carny in the best possible wrestling sense. Part One only gets the story started, but it already shows why Ozark Mountain Wrestling is worth a serious look. This was not a footnote. It was a short lived promotion functioning as a “mini-territory” with big personalities, strong local heat, smart promotion, future stars, veterans, wild stories, and a very real place in the late territory wrestling landscape. For fans of Memphis Wrestling, USWA, Jonesboro wrestling history, Bert Prentice, Colorado Kid, Cactus Jack, The Spiders/Headbangers, and the last gasp of old school independent territory-style promotion, this is a must-listen. That's the line the Vinton County sheriff used after his deputies walked into a five-room house on Ohmer Street in Hamden, Ohio, looking to serve a misdemeanor warrant and instead found sixteen children living inside. Some couldn't speak. Some couldn't read. None had ever been enrolled in a school. The Ohio Attorney General went further, calling the conditions "pure evil" and saying another day could have ended in deaths. Four adults are now charged with sixty-eight felony counts of child endangerment, with a grand jury still to come and more charges possible. The AG's choice of the word intrafamilial is the kind of detail that tells you the full picture isn't public yet. What's striking is how the system missed this for eighteen years straight. Sixteen children, all born in hospitals, arriving roughly once every thirteen months — and not a single medical professional ever flagged the pattern. Ohio's 2023 rollback of homeschool oversight meant no school system ever came looking either. And Elizabeth Siders, one of the four now facing charges, was married herself at fifteen, with a judge's sign-off, in a state with no minimum marriage age on the books.Tony breaks down the case for the True Crime Today audience: the warrant that accidentally exposed it, the institutions that had every opportunity to catch it sooner, and the uncomfortable question at the center of it — whether the state that approved Elizabeth Siders' marriage at fifteen bears some responsibility for what happened to her children two decades later.Join Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? July 16, 2026: Welcome back to The Living Better Project! In episode three, we're talking about one of the biggest mindset shifts that's helped me feel more consistent, less overwhelmed, and actually make progress: choosing just 1–3 non-negotiables for the day or week.Instead of trying to improve every area of your life all at once (and inevitably feeling like you're failing), I'm sharing why narrowing your focus has been a complete game changer. Whether your priorities are going for a walk, making a high-protein breakfast, reading before bed, or getting to bed earlier, keeping small promises to yourself builds confidence and creates lasting change.I also dive into something I think we don't talk about enough: removing bad habits. We spend so much time trying to stack new habits onto already full lives, but sometimes the fastest way to feel better is to stop doing the things that are quietly draining your energy. We'll chat about why eliminating one unhelpful habit can have an even bigger impact than adding another "healthy" one.If you've been feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or like you're constantly trying to optimize everything at once, this episode is your reminder that living better doesn't require doing more, it often starts by doing less, with intention. In this episode we discuss:Why choosing 1–3 non-negotiables is more effective than endless to-do listsHow keeping promises to yourself builds confidenceWhy focusing on one priority at a time creates better long-term resultsThe surprising power of removing bad habitsSimple ways to make meaningful lifestyle changes without burning yourself outIf you're enjoying The Living Better Project, I'd love for you to subscribe, leave a review, and share the series with someone who needs a little reminder that small changes really do add up.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

How do I live better than I look? This Sunday, Dave Carr challenged us to stop focusing on what's happening on the surface and let Jesus heal what's underneath. We all have areas that look fine on the outside but need His restoration on the inside. The good news? You don't have to fix it yourself. Jesus is ready to meet you where you are. July 2, 2026: This week on The Mom Room, I'm kicking off a new series all about the small changes that have completely shifted how I feel day to day. A few months ago, I made a list of simple things I wanted to focus on to help me "live better", feel calmer, more energized, less overwhelmed, and more present in my everyday life. And honestly? The changes have been bigger than I ever expected. In this episode, we're starting with one of the most impactful changes: decluttering and organizing your spaces (including digital!) one small area at a time. I share why tackling tiny spaces instead of attempting a massive overhaul has been so much more sustainable, how I'm maintaining these changes, and why our physical environment has such a huge impact on our mental well-being.I also dive into some of the ideas that really resonated with me from Ali Abdaal's book, Feel-Good Productivity: How to Do More of What Matters to You, and how I've been applying them to my own life in a way that feels realistic and doable. This is just the beginning. In future solo episodes, I'll continue working through my "live better" list, sharing the habits I'm implementing, the challenges I'm running into, and the surprising ways these small shifts have completely changed my energy, mindset, and overall quality of life.If you've been feeling overwhelmed, stuck in survival mode, or like you need a reset but don't know where to start, this episode is for you.THANK YOU TO OUR SPONSORS!Bellesa - EVERYONE who signs up wins a FREE Viral ROSE suction toy with your order! https://www.bboutique.co/vibe/themomroom-podQuince - Refresh your summer wardrobe with Quince.
