Who Am I? In this week of At The Movies, we look at Creed and one of the most foundational questions we all wrestle with: Who am I? Through the story of Adonis Creed, we see what happens when we spend our lives fighting to prove ourselves, searching for identity in all the wrong places, and trying to make a name for ourselves. But our identity isn't something we have to earn or prove—it's something we receive from God. You'll learn how to: • Stop fighting to prove who you are • Face the person you see in the mirror • Bring your brokenness and sin honestly to God • Find your identity as a son or daughter of God • Stop running from your Heavenly Father and start running to Him Adonis spent much of his life running from his father's name while trying to establish an identity of his own. But the thing he was running from was the very thing he had been longing for. In the same way, we can spend our lives running from God while searching everywhere else for what only He can give us. Through Jesus, we don't have to fight our way into God's family. We are invited to surrender, be made new, and receive our identity as sons and daughters of God. You can spend your whole life trying to prove who you are until you discover whose you are. At 12Stone Church, learn how to Know God, Find Freedom, Discover Purpose and Make a Difference. What if I choose the wrong option? What if a better option comes a long? These are a few of the questions that plague decision makers. In this episode of Breaking Bread, Kathy Knochel and Ted Witzig Jr. discuss the angst that can accompany decision making. While we desire to have certainty about future outcomes, it remains elusive. Yet, there is a certainty that the believer has, and it can make all the difference. Show notes: Decisional Stress can be understood in three tiers. Tier 1 is experienced by everyone and very common. We make decisions everyday of varying significance. We all can relate to the unsettling feeling of uncertainty. While we would like to know the outcome of our decision before we make it, we cannot. Thus, we learn to live with uncertainty. Tier 2 is experienced by some people. It is called decisional doubt. Stress and anxiety are induced by situational "high stakes" decisions. These decisions feel significant to us. Choosing a college, buying a house, making a career move, for example are time sensitive and weighty in consequence. Tier 3 is experienced by fewer. It is called obsessional doubt. OCD and anxiety disorders can complicate decision making and coming to a place of peace and comfort regarding a decision becomes difficult. Seeking reassurance over and over becomes characteristic of the struggle. Decisional stress plays to our desire for certainty in all three tiers. When it comes to decision making, the believer needs to shift certainty from the decisional outcome to another place. Three such places are outlined below. God: Find confidence in God's presence, goodness and promises. Values: Find confidence in knowing what your values are and making decisions in step with your values. Godly counsel: Find confidence in having had your decision informed by wise counsel.
What do you do when life feels stuck? We all go through seasons of waiting—waiting for clarity, healing, a breakthrough, or an answered prayer. And in a world built on instant results, waiting can feel frustrating, confusing, and even hopeless. But what if waiting is actually where faith grows? In Romans 4:13-25, the Apostle Paul points to Abraham as an example of what real faith looks like—not just in receiving God's promises, but in enduring while those promises seem delayed. God's promises aren't based on our performance, but on His grace. Even when circumstances looked impossible, Abraham trusted that God could bring life out of what felt dead. This message will help you: - Understand why waiting is a normal part of faith - Stop striving and start trusting God - Find hope when life feels delayed, stuck, or uncertain - See how God works in seasons that feel like nothing is happening Whether you're exploring faith, coming back to church, or have followed Jesus for years, this message is for you. Because faith doesn't ignore reality—it trusts God in the middle of it. And what God has promised, He will fulfill.

Faith is meant to bring life. But what happens when it become harmful? In this episode, Dr. Carol sits down with Jeff and Terra Mattson, a husband-and-wife author team whose work bridges leadership, psychology, and spiritual formation. He brings the perspective of an executive coach; she offers the clinical insight of a licensed professional counselor. Together, we explore the idea of toxic faith: how faith can be distorted through fear, control, shame, or misuse of authority, and how to discern the difference between spiritually abusive systems and the ordinary, imperfect humanness found in any community. We also examine the deep impact of spiritual abuse on the whole person and why its effects often linger long after someone leaves a harmful environment. Most importantly, this conversation offers hope. We talk about what healing can actually look like, including the slow and courageous work of re-examining one's internal view of God. For those who feel wounded, confused, or distant from God because of their faith experiences, this episode offers clarity, compassion, and a grounded path toward restoration. Have you ever been surprised by who someone turned out to be? Research shows we form impressions of people within seconds, but real life often proves those impressions wrong. In this episode, we explore how that gap between appearance and reality shows up in relationships –with others, and especially with God. These realities reveal a deeper truth; there's a profound difference between knowing about someone and truly knowing them. Many people believe in God, yet carry perhaps unconscious distortions about what He is really like. You may "know" that "God is love," but internally picture a God who is disappointed, withholding, harsh, or just waiting for us to fail. In this episode, we explore how our internal picture of God is often shaped by our past experiences, and why information alone doesn't heal it. Instead, healing comes through encountering Jesus. And we close with some practical ways to let God's love reshape your inner picture of who He really is. We are caretakers of the mysteries of God that are to be revealed in these end days. As believers, our faithfulness is under investigation. We are in a time where everything and everyone is being shaken. Consistency with what God is revealing to us is necessary to remain faithful to God. Have you been faithful with the revelation God has entrusted to you?

What if wisdom isn't just knowing the right answer, but knowing the right Person? In Part 1 of our Way of Wisdom series, we unpack how true wisdom begins with the fear of the Lord. It must be a reverent, humble posture that surrenders to God's voice over our own. Through Proverbs 1–6, a wild true story of buried treasure, and Paul's powerful words in 1 Corinthians 1, we discover that Jesus doesn't just give wisdom...He is Wisdom. This message will challenge you to stop chasing shallow answers and start digging for the kind of wisdom that changes everything.

Congratulations! *blows party horn* *Daisies/ confetti* You're like 25! I'll be 25 forever. Nice! Yeah. I guess that's why it's called ‘music'—a musician without muses is just useless. ‘Well, whose next?' I wondered. All of my muses were not just so wonderful to me, but adored by many—and perhaps this is what allured me most—beffldled ans confounded me; once my mind was set on somehh th int, there was nothing else its eye could see—and for how long one God could only know, how deep the love would go and that the blood would run deep, and the scars to show for it, only upon my heart and never by soul—for a love was a love, and even once came and gone, to the end of my life I knew I would still ponder upon them, at one time or another, my muses—star studded lovers, rather than crossed, shiny and golden like all diamond and trophies so treasured and thought of as precious. ‘Yes, you are—precious.' Another tongue in cheek thought, for the other that I was, and also was not, as summer drew onward as short as it would come and go—a reminder to leave the apartment more often, and to mind my manners, to find the upper echelon wherever it was and come quietly into its doors, to open my world and wordform of thought, into a place where my heart always was; then, and only then, would I be home. Amongst the men and women of the uppercut and classy, luxurious big fishing ponds and flocks of doves upon olive branches—the peaceful world long parted from where mine was, by only the fault of my own. What had been done just certainly was, and yet, what was to come was an open poem, not of mine, but Godform in thought. ‘I wonder what's at the top of Rockefeller Plaza.' —perhaps, a gander at the bottom of an even larger entertainment complex. Then, again, only God would know what was beyond all that I wanted; a job—and not just any job at all— the one that I had always wanted. Mmm. Birthday cake. Suddenly the taste of a white confetti crème filled my mouth with a delicious remnince of what it might be like to taste a confectionary sugar again—but i couldn't imagine ever making it just on talent and charisma alone—no. Indeed, it seemed something had damaged my charm, and perhaps it was just the swarms and droves of phone controlled masses that saw me as nothing more than dust, I had started to surrender my desire to perform, and the quality of my music—along with my ability to make it, suffered with the awful thing that had been crowding my soul at all—whatever it was, evil and dark in nature, sure saw to it that it wanted to hurt me in all the ways that it could—and in all the ways it could not, I stayed away from most others, favoring my delisuins of love. ‘Nobody seems to understand that the pain they cause will only harm themselves.', I thought Younger souls, however, they were—and they would be kept in the pain that I was in one way or another until eventual death, far behind me on the infinite road to the source. Far enough behind, that it seeker to destroy my progress, and for all that it could, it also couldn't. The infliction of pain would simply not act as a measure for control any longer. Of into my own world, where I was at least free from the thoughts and judgement of others. She's the most beautiful girl, And I'm the most beautiful boy; So naturally, we belong together, don't we? Truly serving God amidst life's chaos and through the demands of the world might seem impossible but this week's journey through "Redemption Story" explores the key to understanding the Bible's grand narrative and our part in it. This message challenges us to consider how — "As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." Are we truly living following this declaration? The story of Joshua, the Israelites, and their journey into the promised land offers us profound insights into serving God faithfully amid life's trials and distractions. In this impactful sermon, we delve into three core principles that can guide us in our daily walk with Christ: 1. **Serving God Begins with a Fear of God**: Embark on the journey by cultivating a reverent awe and respect for God. This is not a fear that leads to terror, but a deep admiration that ignites a desire to obey and honor Him in all aspects of life. Remember King Solomon's wisdom: "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge" (Proverbs 1:7).2. **Maturing When We Surrender to God**: Find true fulfillment by laying down your desires and aligning your will with God's will. A wholehearted dedication to God's purposes is where we discover true peace and joy. Consider the words of Jesus: "No one can serve two masters" (Matthew 6:24).3. **Action is Required**: Translate your faith into actionable steps by eliminating idols or distractions that vie for your heart's devotion. Joshua challenges us to choose this day whom we will serve (Joshua 24:15). Are you prepared to actively serve God in every aspect of life?As we navigate through the current stormy seasons, remember the encouraging command God gave Joshua — "Be strong and courageous" (Joshua 1). Apply these lessons with courage and commitment, knowing our strength comes from the Holy Spirit!Join us as we continue diving into the Bible's redemptive story, exploring how you can align your life with God's great purpose. Our mission is to help you become a passionate follower of Jesus, equipped to live out His calling and share His love with the world.Don't forget to hit that SUBSCRIBE button to stay updated with our content ⏩.LIKE ✔️, SHARE

#110 Focus on Planting Relationship Seeds the Give You Good FruitThis is the 4th episode in the series for parents who have a child that has left The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Every single day you are planting relationship seeds that you will some day harvest. You're planting these relationship seeds with what you are thinking, feeling, and doing, even when you're not aware of it. In this episode, I'll show you how to tell the difference between a seed that will give you the fruit you want to have vs a seed that will give you a fruit you don't want to have. It all starts with how you are making meaning of the circumstances in your life, especially what you are making it mean that your child has left the church. Take aways:1. The story you tell yourself is optional, and you are the storyteller. Choose a story that brings you into alignment with the greatest commandments to love God, others, and yourself. “Others” includes your child who has left the church. Get help with this through coaching or therapy if you need to. Most people need to. 2. This experience you are having is for YOUR benefit. Romans 8:28: “And we know that all things work together for good to them what love God…” Find out what that means for you. This might be the hardest thing you've ever done, but there is a reason you are having this experience, and it is your gift to find out what that is. Again, seek out help if you need to through coaching or therapy.Challenge:Keep a gratitude journal for the next 7 days. Each day, write down 3 things you are grateful for and don't repeat anything during the 7 days. You get 1 freebie each day to write down something you are grateful for right now. The other 2 things you write need to come from the circumstance of your child leaving the church. Find the blessing, the gratitude, or the lesson you're learning from this circumstance. Even in our most difficult circumstances, there are gifts and things to be grateful for. This will stretch you mind and your heart, but by the end of the 7 days, your perspective will shift. Upcoming Breathing Workshop:October 24, 25, 26 - 2:30-3:00pm MDT(replay available)If you are very reactive to the situations and people in your world, if you're feeling a lot of stress, overwhelm, anxiety, fear, then this workshop will be very helpful for you. We'll be working on how to have more control over your emotional responses to life, how to establish a breathing routine every day in just 10 minutes that will help you to manage stress and anxiety. One of the reasons we think the way that we do is because we aren't managing our emotional responses to our lives, and then our brain is going crazy with those thought tornados, which then leads us to feel more stress, anxiety, overwhelm, and then that affects our thoughts, and the cycle continues. A few minutes of intentional, structured breathing every day can really help. There are very few body functions we can directly control in order to change how we are feeling. Changing the way we are breathing is one of those. It's huge. Don't miss out on this workshop!CLICK HERE TO REGISTER Tina Gosney is a certified life and relationship coach. These are not bad individuals, but good individuals who simply do not know how much better they could be. Such individuals often stay proximate to—but do not participate fully in—the Church.
