It's Aiko Hemingway. I am an American English pronunciation coach and business coach based in Hawaii, USA. I came to the US from Japan when I was 23 years old, and I did not speak English well and had a hard time in the US communicating with native English speakers. I realized how important pronunciation basics were in my 6th year in the US, and I took accent reduction lessons, learned linguistics, phonetics and intonation study at UCLA, and took singing lessons in order to improve my English. Now I help Japanese speakers, who are in an American English environment, improve their English pronunciation effectively. 50% of my clients are English coaches, English pronunciation coaches, English teachers, and educators. 今すぐコースをチェックしたい方へ 12週間の発音コース自主学習版をチェック 12週間の発音グループコーチングをチェック
In our first interview-based Episode, Grace and Jess interview Japanese Podcaster, Speaker, and Coach Emiko Rasmussen about Feminism, Japan, and Parenting, among others. You can check Emiko out on Her Confidence Her Way - a Bilingual Podcast. She uses her own journey of facing language and cultural barriers, which resulted in her "playing small" to empower Asian women, specifically Japanese women to live purposefully with confidence.
Side hustle coach Emiko Rasmussen talks about her Japanese mom Kadzuko who taught her that teaching your children isn’t about what you tell them but what you show them; to use positive reinforcement with your children, and not compare them (or yourself) with others; that women are able to juggle many tasks and still have a healthy social life; that you should always focus on the process, not on the outcome; and that you can’t change your partner, but you can meet them in the middle. Emiko also tells us about the challenges women are facing in Japan. For more about Emiko and her services, please visit her website. Emiko Rasmussen is a Career&Personal Development coach, leadership development & personal branding expert and a mentor. If you're like many Japanese women, you may hesitate to speak up or have a different opinion from others in corporate meetings. You don't want to be seen as bossy or too direct or not caring. That's the potential cost of being bold that Emiko Rasmussen raises in part 2 of our conversation on the Sasuga! Podcast (click here to listen to part 1 - If Your Mind Says No, That Means Go). In Episode 61 of the Sasuga! Podcast, you'll also hear Emiko's advice on how to take the shortcut to success, including How to grow personally and professionally when people at work don't support you The difference between climbing the corporate ladder and climbing the corporate jungle gym The benefit of having a mentor and why it's crucial that you invest in yourself Enjoy!
Emiko Rasmussen says she had a crush on me from the moment she saw my 2016 TEDx Talk! Even though she thought I probably wouldn't respond, she decided to be brave and contact me through social media. That was the start of our lovely friendship. Emiko moved from Japan to the U.S. when she was 20 years old. Facing language and cultural barriers, she played small and missed out on multiple opportunities. Many times, she wanted to raise her hand and share her opinion or say “YES!” to reach her potential, but she kept repeating her limiting beliefs in her mind: “My English isn't good enough” or “I don't feel confident.” This stopped her from being her true self and doing what she really wanted to do. Look at her now! Emiko is an inspiring speaker and podcast host. After being laid off from her corporate job, she's a full-time online entrepreneur who teaches other Japanese women how they can break through common barriers and shares important skills to elevate their work life. In Episode 59 of the Sasuga! Podcast, you'll hear How Emiko went from feeling invisible in her company to being an inspiring leader How Emiko used to worry that people might think she was stupid because English was her second language and now hosts her own podcast in English The meaning of “menterrupting” and what you can do about it Enjoy!
This week I am joined by the multi-talented, motivated mom, Emi Rasmussen of the Her Confidence Her Way podcast. Emiko shared the most interrupted podcast recording in history with me! All we could do was laugh as we experienced mom life to the millionth degree. Though I spared you much of the interruptions by editing them out, you may still experience a few along with us... but they just prove the points Emi makes in our conversation- nobody's life is picture perfect and you have to own the messiness of it all if you're going to do things on your own terms! We know you'll get some great tips and a good laugh in this episode too! Follow along here: https://www.instagram.com/emikorasmussen/

Welcome to my podcast "The Voice of English" The purpose of this podcast is to encourage English learners and also English teachers. We all share tips and points of how we can improve our English and become better communicators. In Episode 11, I invited Miho Noguchi the bilingual MC and Coach based in Japan. Miho is an event host MC / interpreter based in Gifu, central Japan. She started her public speaking career as a Japanese-English bilingual radio news announcer and DJ in Nagoya and shifted into her event host career in 2010. She has hosted many international corporate events, congresses, as well as wedding receptions of international couples. She is also a home-based voice-over talent, and is known as the Japanese GPS voice behind Google Maps app. In 2016 her voice was replaced by a new synthetic voice system, which sparked a huge backlash on Twitter and other social media platforms. Later Google decided to put her voice back on the app and you can still hear her voice. And in 2017 she won the title of the Japanese delegate of Mrs. Globe beauty pageant and ran for the international competition in China with 70 other contestants from around the world. She also teaches English to those who want to become MCs or public speakers through workshops and also one-on-one online coaching. Here are my notes: Your voice is your asset!! It is amazing that a great English speaker like Miho says "I am still struggling with English" and she practices a lot! I hope that will motivate you. English and Japanese "good" voices have different pitches. Find yours in English and in Japanese by downloading a free PDF at http://bilingualmc.jp/ She coaches who want to become a bilingual MC for international events. Welcome to my podcast "The Voice of English" The purpose of this podcast is to encourage English learners and also English teachers. We all share tips and points of how we can improve our English and become better communicators. In Episode 4, I invited a podcaster / confidence building coach from California. Her name is Emiko Rasmussen from Her Confidence Her Way. Emiko is a mom of two children, a full-time worker at a higher education organization, podcaster, and confidence building coach, bilingual MC for events in San Diego. And she does volunteering and many other things. Wow, she does so many things. I asked her not only how she practiced her English (she speaks English as a second language and speaks very fluent English), but also her working experience in the US. If you are wanting to work in the US in an English environment (meaning local companies. Not Japanese companies in the US or so on), listen to her closely and learn the skills you will need for it. Today, I have the pleasure and honor to interview Emiko of Her Confidence Her Way, a Podcast series with a mission to guide Japanese women towards having self-confidence and living a meaningful life. So, for every episode, I aim to make the topic applicable to the Asian/Asian American community but for this one, I wanted to tune into a more specific audience and that is, of course, the Japanese/Japanese American women listening out there. Despite the fact that Japan is one of the most technologically advanced countries of our time, like many other countries, it still has room for improvement for gender equality. We will be discussing on Japan's current state and progress in its agenda for women empowerment.
