Today, I speak with Rachel Bailey who has a masters degree in Clinical Psychology and after working as a psychotherapist, doing in home mentoring, and serving as an ADHD coach, she felt her calling was actually to support parents in their growth. Now as a parenting specialist and a host of the podcast Your Parenting Long Game she teaches parents that the 'long game' doesn't refer to it TAKING longer but that the results last longer. She helps families create change so that they have more positive than negative memories... which is 100% a mission I can get behind. As soon as Rachel and I hopped on out call I knew we were kindred spirits. She is a mom of two as well and she came on to chat with me specifically about resentment but our conversation really expanded beyond that and she lead me to a discovery about overcoming resentment that REALLY changed the way I look at this concept... you'll hear in the episode the many benefits of working toward overcoming resentment - how to communicate more clearly, how to manage your own responses and reactions, getting clear on your values (something you KNOW i love!)... and one surprising benefit that I won't give away here but I know you'll love. It was a real ah ha moment for me. Episode #71 comin in hot! Last week I had an amazing last minute opportunity to hop on a recording with mindset expert and business and life coach, Lindsey Mango. My motto this year is to say yes and figure it out later... so I called day care and pushed back my normal pick up time and got on the call. I knew that if I didn't I'd be laying in bed that night feeling sorry for myself for not taking a chance, jealous of the woman who had the time freedom to stop, drop, and record, and overall disappointed in my 'lack of opportunities'. But I DIDN'T. I went to bed fired up and thrilled because this conversation was exactly what I needed to hear that day. And I know that when you hit play, you'll feel the same! Do you struggle to make exciting leaps? Does fear hold you back? Listen in to Lindsey's best tips and hear her share the biggest lessons she hopes to impart on her future kids! It's such a small world. I'm so glad that today's guest reached out to me a few weeks ago to connect. I don't know if you know this but right now the Mama Ladder high five grant is accepting applications so I've been checking out their page more frequently than usual and I saw this company called Moxie Blankets sponsored their live event recently. I clicked through to their page and was about to send a podcast invite when.... mom life happened and I forgot about it... a few days later, Jami Furniss, the owner of Moxie blankets actually reached out to me! Jami was inspired by her young son who was, like many imaginative kiddos, afraid of monsters in his room so Jami set out to solve his problem and in the process created the Monster Protection Academy and her weighted Moxie Blanket as well as a brand new product dropping this week! Join me in welcoming Jami to the show and listen in to how her creativity and ingenuity have built a business that both of her kids now hold important titles in! This week I am joined by the multi-talented, motivated mom, Emi Rasmussen of the Her Confidence Her Way podcast. Emiko shared the most interrupted podcast recording in history with me! All we could do was laugh as we experienced mom life to the millionth degree. Though I spared you much of the interruptions by editing them out, you may still experience a few along with us... but they just prove the points Emi makes in our conversation- nobody's life is picture perfect and you have to own the messiness of it all if you're going to do things on your own terms! We know you'll get some great tips and a good laugh in this episode too! Follow along here: https://www.instagram.com/emikorasmussen/
Today's guest is none other than Adrienne Hedger, the creative genius behind many a viral parenting comic I'm sure you've seen, that is, unless you've been living under a rock. Adrienne was gracious enough to sit down with me to talk about how motherhood inspires her craft and how in turn her comics have provided a unique and special way to connect with her family. My chat with Adrienne proves yet again how parenting can catapult life in a new and unexpected direction. We hope you enjoy our convo and as always let us know on the Podcast app or over on insta! www.hedgerhumor.com Follow along at: www.instagram.com/adriennehedger
Adding a second baby is no joke! In some ways, it's felt easier than the first - a lot less is a surprise and you know that you *can* survive on that little sleep, though your pre-baby self would never believe it. In other ways, yeah, it's been tough! As I sat down to reflect on what this has meant for me in terms of growth as a person, a parent, and a partner, I've found that 5 really important (and positive) lessons have been learned so far. I think you'll really resonate with me on this one! Don't forget to rate and review the show on your app!
Today is a special re-release of my conversation over at the Shedadigans Podcast. As the only dads besides Fred to ever be on FYM, Rob and Russ were so much fun to chat with. We talked about the differences in parenthood as experienced by moms and dads, shared birthing war stories, and even got into the topic of imaginary friends. We talk so much about MOM life here on FYM it was great to have an infusion of the dad perspective for once! Today’s episode was such a treat. A mutual friend introduced Romy and I and though we started our acquaintance months ago, we finally got to recording recently. Romy and I spent more time than allotted chit chatting about life, laughing, and sipping our coffee before I hit the record button.. and then I remembered, Hey! I better get an episode out of this! So I hit record and Romy started dropping truth bombs. Her advice and insights were so on point, practical, and applicable to women/moms/ (Honestly, whoever!) in all seasons of their career journeys. I know that no matter where you are in your career, what Romy had to share will inspire and resonate with you! Follow Romy @nextstepscoachromy on Instagram. Fred and I finally sat down to record Margot's birth story! What a saga it was! Contractions started and it was on! Two years of research and planning and praying for a VBAC... would it happen? We weren't sure. So many twists and turns and uncertainties. So many moments when everyone held their breath and thought, "Oh no. It's not going to happen!" But my entire birth team kept the faith. And Margot Jane appeared on the scene, giving me the opportunity for all the ugly-cry pics of my dreams! If you could listen to birth stories all day long (like me!), you don't want to miss this one. Thanks for tuning in!! Don't forget to rate the podcast on the podcast app and wherever you tune in!

Well, here I am. Coming to you straight from the trenches of the fourth trimester itself. I had the pleasure of talking to the ladies behind Matrescence: 4th Trimester Planning and Support *months* ago...back then I was a bright eyed and bushy tailed with only one little person to take care of. At least just one on the outside. I was so excited to employ the strategies I learned from this episode when baby #2 came. So when she decided to arrive three weeks earlier than expected I had no choice but it kick it into high gear. As you may have noticed from my two month absence from your earbuds, I took a long slow pause to get used to life with two kids - exactly what our family needed during this fourth trimester. Will I ever REALLY get used to it? Who knows... but we're falling into a new rhythm and in this episode we share the tips and tools I've been using for the last 7 weeks.
