It's not looking hopeful for the athletes expecting a dip in the Seine. Familiarisation dips for the triathlon competitors have been cancelled for two days straight. Officials are hoping Tuesday will see the athletes in the Seine, but with heavy rain due later in the week it's not looking good for the long term. France Correspondent Catherine Field told Mike Hosking that last they've heard, E Coli is between three and five times above the acceptable level. She said that they couldn't predict this level of rain, and they haven't had this level of heavy rain in July for at least 20 years. LISTEN ABOVE See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Most of us want to take our pup out-and-about with us; from the countryside walks to brunch at the local café or pub. We will plan to go on holiday, stay in hotels or visit friends, perhaps go to classes, a dog show or the local garden fête.To ensure these outings are as pleasant an experience for your dog as they are for you we need to begin to familiarise the youngster with these anticipated but unnatural environments.A familiarisation protocol should ensure that a puppy has the time to assess, observe, and become familiar with, the weird and wonderful life that will be their future. If you rush this and the pup becomes fearful of people at the cafe, then this shared outing may never be on your dream list.Do not rely on putting it right or fixing this associated anxiety at a later date. “Become familiar with” should never involve anxiety, it should always be gradual, never extreme and the pup should always have the right to say “no thanks”.FEATURE: Familiarisation
Taking the witness stand can be challenging and nerve-wracking; more persuasive evidence is likely to be given when a witness has properly prepared for the occasion. In this episode of Taxing Matters, we demystify witness familiarisation and what is permitted by the tax tribunals and the courts with Dr Penny Cooper. Dr Penny Cooper is a barrister who provides a specialist witness familiarisation and preparation service. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Amy O'Brien and Charles Pigott explore the benefits of offering witnesses training - unrelated to the case in which they are involved - to help them prepare for the experience of giving evidence at an employment tribunal.
2022.08.23– 0600 – Vocal Confidence Through Familiarisation With The Script And Situation · Familiarisation with the subject – the knowledge of the script, not just the words, but the meaning and the significance and intention of it, and the role your ‘character' plays in conveying the message. Plus, who that message is targeted at, and what you want that recipient to do with the information… Nerves are what you are feeling – but think of the audience, not yourself. If you have to present a script that you are not comfortable with (perhaps you don't understand or are unfamiliar with it, or don't agree with the content), then it's natural that you will feel nervous about presenting it. · Familiarisation with the situation – so, the studio, the staff, the workflow. Of course, when presenting a podcast, a lot of this comes naturally. You are likely to be familiar with your topic as it's one you're passionate about. And you're likely to be recording at home, a location that you are comfortable in … You started your podcast because you have something to say…Your message and voice is too valued by your listeners and potential followersfor you to be rendered tongue tied by a lack of confidence.David Hutchinson, weeditpodcasts.com[1] Confidence comes from experience in all of these areas. Also playing a part, possible other elements such as:· Your health - To sound better and feel better, have plenty of rest and water. There's more health advice a little bit later.· Your microphone – We looked at this before: how you hear yourself may add or detract from your confidence. Is your sound real and relatable, or thin and trebly?· What you wear - What is your ‘superhero outfit' to wear to get into zone for confidence? Certain clothes or a wristband or pendant... to help you get into the ‘zone'. Do you dress up or dress down? Lucky socks, or a special pen, or headphones that fit ‘just right' and make you sound really good. One often has more confidence during a podcast because you are ‘in the moment' but without the pressure of ‘immediately perfect' performance, because of the ‘record-it', ‘edit-it' workflow. 2022.08.22– 0599 – Vocal Confidence Through Familiarisation With Yourself · Familiarisation with yourself – we have to turn nervous self-consciousness to self-confidence. That is, moving from being aware of every element of who you are and where you are and what you are doing to a more overall approach: that you have put in the time and the training, the prep and the practice towards your performance. The work on your skillset, helping create your mindset. And part of that mindset comes from what you tell yourself about your voice and your performance: o Do you say “My voice is horrid” OR “I have a great, unique and distinct voice” o “That was a stupid thing I said” OR “That was great, personal insight only I could give”o “Who's going to listen to my nonsense ramblings?” OR “I'm so grateful that my audience trusts my take on this”Also consider how you think of your feelings at moments like this, and turn them from nervousness to confidence:o That pounding heart is not terror … it's your body's very own drum roll before you perform!o The butterflies aren't nerves … their wings are little rounds of applause for what you're about to say.o The sensation of tightness on your throat is only there because your fantastic message is impatient to get out and be heard.Don't knock yourself down, but build yourself up! #ZachSelch has helped build sales channels across 130+ countries. As a good Jewish boy he's built successful and sustained channels in Saudi Arabia, throughout Africa, Asia, the Americas and Europe. He's a true internationalist. Zach has recruited over 1000 partners for his employers and clients but he doesn't build a land army; he builds a special forces unit. In each market he generally only works with one partner, whether they are distributors, resellers or agents. He builds clear trust based contracts and clear expectations up front that he is in it for the long term, that the partner will get paid, operate with total transparency, and uncompromising integrity. He focuses his time on helping the partners to sell because no matter how good they are at installing a product, no one makes any money and the partnership will fail. Never assume that your partners can sell. Most can't. Most partners are plumbers - they know how to weld and cut pipes - it's your job to help them build a plumbing business. That means selling, building systems and processes, hiring the right people. Zach shares his partner onboarding process which is tried and tested. Familiarisation with the local culture is critical. Providing partners with short training videos is important because distributors rarely put much time into training partners on how to sell. This meant that Zach earned the right to mentor the individual salespeople, helping them make more money because his job is to get the result no matter what it takes and not being distracted to maximise #TimeAvailableForSelling and #TimeAvailableForManagement. Stop hurting sales with the pointless, and add value each time you touch your partners' salespeople. Ignore this and you will reduce the time available for selling and they're highly productive you risk reducing the highly productive selling time to as low as 3%-7.35% of their time. Zach makes it his policy to help the careers of his distributor salespeople. Treat them like they are your own, your protégés. Stop behaving like an overpaid clerk. You need to manage your distributors. Calling once a month and adding no value is why you are failing to optimise your channel sales performance. Help them prospect. Get out in the field with them. Meeting once a year at a trade show and making a call once a month is a major dereliction of duty. Don't think that you've done your hard work and a channel role is a prize where you can sit in your ivory tower and the money will come rolling in to smash your quota. Channel sales is the toughest sales role there is bar none. It is not a place to send failed direct salespeople. It is where you send your best salespeople who have management capability. You grow companies fast by leveraging the power of your partnerships. You grow them sustainably, by planning, recruiting great partners who can sell, getting into the trenches, training & coaching them to be great sellers, holding each other accountable and making them successful. "There is only one way out of my network. And that's in a box!" - Zach Selch Zach has built a lifetime network which means he can set up a distribution network in 25% of the time than other people. We explore the up front contract he establishes to protect both sides. It will surprise you if you are only used to selling via partners in your own local market. It cuts out 3-4 months of dead time, prevents getting tied up in pointless stuff that lawyers think is important and will hurt you commercially. He establishes clear expectations in return for exclusivity. He also shares how he gets partners to open up all their customer and prospect information when you meet resistance or pushback. Johanna Rochegude, Sonja Rattay, Rasmus Hedin Within this workshop we will question the perception of our own faculties, by reflecting on brainwaves as a powerful, future mean of interaction and explore the design space around it in a participatory fashion. We will think, sketch and create immersive, sensory and artistic experiences generated by brainwaves and states of mind. Workshop structure General presentation of the brain and its inner workings, as well as which parts are relevant for us and how they can be interpreted. Familiarisation with brainwave readers (EEG headsets): how they work, the data they gather and some examples of how we can use this data in a meaningful way. Separation into small groups and artistic exploration around the materialisation of brainwaves by using different triggers and interactions to map the effects on the participants' brain. We will provide the code base for visualisation, which can be tweaked and adjusted by the participants (through simple parameter changes for participants with no coding experience as well as on a more deeper level for participants with more knowledge). Creation of a visual artwork in 2D that participants can either print out on site and take home with them, or take as a file in to print somewhere else. Max. 16 Participants We will provide the EEG headsets as well as the Javascript and p5.js base code. Participants will need to bring their own computers and download the free application Cortex UI on their machine (available here: https://www.emotiv.com/developer/) , to enable data retrieval from the headsets.
