Big Idea: Gospel repentance is the only path to overcoming the radioactive waste of sin!
Brian Park - Psalm 51 - January 19, 2025
The Gospel is the good news that the one and only God, who is holy, made us in His image to know Him. But we sinned and cut ourselves off from Him. In His great love, God became a man in Jesus, lived a perfect life and died on the cross, thus fulfilling the law himself and taking on himself the punishment for the sins of all those who would ever believe in Him. He rose again from the dead, showing that God accepted Christ's sacrifice and that God's wrath against us had been exhausted. He now calls us to repent of our sins and to trust in Christ alone for forgiveness. If we repent of our sins and trust in Christ, we are born again into a new life, progressively transformed into the image of Christ and have eternal life with God. Now that is Good News!

Lust. It's a scary word, because it reminds us that sin can be hidden internally, unnoticed on the surface of our lives. Jesus’ big point in the Sermon on the Mount was that having “right” external behaviors isn’t what He’s after. He's after internal freedom - giving us new life, through himself. “Sin is not merely a matter of actions and deeds; it is something within the heart that leads to the action... We deal drastically with our sin. We don’t pamper it. Flirt with it. Nibble on it around the edges. We are to hate it, crush it, dig it out.” - DA Carson Gratefully, Jesus brings us "Gospel-Repentance", which does not mean self-punishment and beating yourself up. To repent is to embrace the grace of God. Then take action.

Sept. 19, 2018, | Pastor Nathan Elms • The resurrection of Jesus Christ mattered because it proved that He was Who He said that He was, God incarnate! (The literal Son of God) • Because Jesus Christ proved that we was the Son of God, by resurrecting Himself after choosing to be our sacrifice, it proved that death isn't the end, but instead the beginning of our existence. • The resurrection proves that by obeying the Gospel: Repentance, Baptism in Jesus name, and the infilling of the Spirit of Jesus Christ, our wrongdoings can be forgiven and a place is prepared for us! In a court of law, to prove something, it takes evidence and or witnesses. With the resurrection of Jesus Christ, there was well over a hundred eye witnesses that were willing to die under the persecution of the Jewish faith and leadership and the Roman persecution. No one is willing to die for a lie.
