In this stirring and deeply encouraging Advent message, Pastor Karl continues the series The King Has Come with a raw and life-giving exploration of the second great gift Jesus brings: peace.Turning to the familiar yet profound scene in Luke 2:8–20, Pastor Karl invites us into the midnight terror of ordinary shepherds—suddenly confronted by the blinding glory of God—and shows how the very first words from heaven that night were not “Merry Christmas,” but “Fear not.” That first Christmas did not begin with sentimental calm; it began with paralyzing, mega-fear. And right there, in the middle of stacked-on-stacked fear, the angel announced good news of great joy: a Savior has been born who is Christ the Lord, the Prince of Peace. With pastoral tenderness and unflinching honesty, Pastor Karl unmasks fear as the mortal enemy of peace—how it magnifies threats, shrinks our view of God, and paints our future in colors darker than God ever intended. Yet the gospel is stronger: peace is not the absence of trouble but the presence of a Person. Peace is not something Jesus gives; peace is who Jesus is—and He gives Himself.Through the shepherds' journey from terror to testimony, we're given clear, scriptural paths out of fear and into the unshakable peace of Christ: speaking God's truth over fear's lies, refusing to agree with the spirit of fear, drawing near to Jesus through spiritual disciplines, and taking bold steps of obedience that move us against comfort and toward surrender. This is a word for everyone whose heart has been ruled by anxiety, worst-case scenarios, or the quiet fears that steal joy—especially in this season. A tender yet urgent call to stop trusting the unknown future to our own control and start trusting it to the known God who entered our fear as a baby in a manger.Because the King has come, fear does not get the final word. Peace does. And when the Prince of Peace takes over a life, what spills out is no longer fear—but praise, testimony, and unshakable confidence in the goodness of God.Essential listening for anyone who longs to trade fear for the peace that passes all understanding this Christmas.Watch all our sermons on our youtube channel "Flipside Christian Church"Join us in person 9:00am & 10:30am every Sunday morning.37193 Ave 12 #3h, Madera, CA 93636For more visit us at flipside.churchFor more podcasts visit flipsidepodcasts.transistor.fm

In this episode, we explore what Peter says about the simple gospel message of belonging, being built as ‘living stones' into God's spiritual house.
In this episode we take a look at a well-known prayer from Ephesians. Asking what Paul's posture & prayer can teach us about our God who IS love.
In this episode we explore the three themes found in 1 Peter 1:3-5…hope, power, and inheritance.
In this episode we continue to look at James and ask what can his words and the actions of those early Jesus-followers teach us about our lives here & now within the simple gospel.
This week, as we continue in our journey through the book of Romans, Wesley unpacks the simple yet profound truth of the gospel found in Romans 10:9 — that salvation comes through confessing Jesus as Lord and believing that God raised Him from the dead. In this message, we are reminded that we cannot save ourselves; only Jesus can. Christ alone fulfills the law, conquers sin and death, and offers us new life in Him. As we confess that He is Lord, we're called to bring every part of our lives under His authority and trust in His transforming grace. Join us as we celebrate the beauty of God's mercy and are reminded to never give up on anyone — because everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.
In this episode we look at 2 verses from the NT letter of James and ask what we can learn about God and ourselves, when it comes to GRACE.

On this October 16th episode, Hunter invites us to spend some quiet moments journeying through the Scriptures together. Today, we'll dive into Malachi chapters 3 and 4, Psalm 148, and Acts chapter 5, discovering how each passage points us towards the living Word—Jesus, who offers true, abundant life. As we listen, Hunter reflects on the heart of the gospel: it's not about politics or divisions, but simply about life—life found in Christ, here and now. Together, we'll be reminded to walk in the peace, love, and hope that only He can give, and pray for hearts ready to both receive and share that life with the world around us. Join us as we nurture our souls and strengthen our resolve to live as vessels of God's peace today. TODAY'S DEVOTION: The message is life. Jerusalem is burning with the message, and these men cannot be stopped. What is this message? It is not about politics or agendas—it is life itself. The angel's word to the apostles is clear: “Go to the temple and give the people this message of life.” That's it. This is the gospel, the good news: Christ is here, now, offering life—abundant, full, real. Too often, we complicate it. We think it's all about where we stand, who's in, who's out, the lines we draw, the causes we fight. But the true message Jesus gives is far simpler and deeper than debate—it's life offered to all who will say yes to him, life not just in the hereafter, but life here and now. In John's gospel, Jesus says he came that we may have life and have it to the fullest. This is what we are meant for. This is what the world is longing for: the life of Christ, living and moving within us. So, today, let's agree with God. Let's step into this message, let's stay in step with him who is life. As we walk with Jesus, we walk in life and abundance, peace and hope—what our souls most need, what our families most need, what our world is crying out for. That's a prayer I have for my own soul. That's a prayer I have for my family—for my wife, my daughters, and my son. And that's a prayer that I have for you. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose through Jesus Christ Our Lord amen. Oh God you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth and sent your blessed son to preach peace to those who are far and those who are near. Grant that people everywhere may seek after you, and find you. Bring the nations into your fold, pour out your Spirit on all flesh, and hasten the coming of your kingdom through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen. And now Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred let me sow love. Where there is injury, pardon. Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope. Where there is darkness, light. And where there is sadness, Joy. Oh Lord grant that I might not seek to be consoled as to console. To be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love. For it is in the giving that we receive, in the pardoning that we are pardoned, it is in the dying that we are born unto eternal life. Amen And now as our Lord has taught us we are bold to pray... Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven, give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our tresspasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not unto temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. Loving God, we give you thanks for restoring us in your image. And nourishing us with spiritual food, now send us forth as forgiven people, healed and renewed, that we may proclaim your love to the world, and continue in the risen life of Christ. Amen. This episode explores how we might've missed the point from a very well-known story from the early church movement. How do we spend our energy? Are we focusing on the miracle or Messiah? How might we need to repent/turn/change?
In this episode we explore HOW the early church gathered and WHAT they did. Asking if their example can inform how we gather and what kind of people we can be in the world.
In a world hungry for hope, Cody and Alec reflect on how God is moving in fresh ways today—and how simple stewardship, authentic stories, and love across differences can open doors for the gospel.

We finish our study through Galatians this week. Pastor Sean unpacks the emphasis Paul brings to the SIMPLE GOSPEL. Paul in his last words calls out the ways the Galatians are being disobedient and have a false faith. He returns to the point of the entire letter, have you put your faith in Jesus? There is absolutely nothing we can do to accomplish our salvation; we must respond to His work on our behalf. Paul tells us in Romans 10:9 "if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." Have you confessed your belief in Jesus?

From March 23rd, 2025 All Gathering with our friend, Pete Portal. Join us as we dig into Mark 5 on our witness.
The Bible is the story of God's goodness! In light of His goodness, our sinful choices become all the more tragic. Yet, no one was able to resist the temptation to sin from Adam to us...no one but one man, Jesus. Because He endured our punishment, we are able to enjoy God's presence again. Better yet, because his sacrifice was sufficient we get to stand before God spotless. Not by our own righteousness, but because of His. This means that when we fail we run to the father not from him! This means that when we need grace the most we go to God not hide from Him! This week we will unpack the last chapter in the story of the gospel. We will discover why holiness matters, and I promise you, the reason will surprise and delight you! The heartbeat of Church on the Rock is to help people discover how they can LOVE God and LOVE one another, LIVE with passion, purpose and freedom, and LEAD others to this same experience in Jesus.
