How do you get to heaven? Are there many ways, or is there just one? Today, Drew Houck looks at Galatians 1 to understand what the Bible means by "the gospel." What is this gospel? How can we distort the gospel? And, if we do distort the gospel, or even try to contribute to our salvation with good works, is that so bad?

It matters that the gospel is shared accurately versus implicitly. No, it is not trifling or nit-picking to the detriment of the salvation of souls to evaluate what one declares as the gospel over that one merely shares the gospel. Veracity of faith and integrity inform and develop capacity of faith, one of those capacities being sharing the gospel. The gospel one hears is the gospel one lives. It is imperative that the truth of the gospel is shared. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/every-good-word/support

It's summertime at The Pactum! While we take a little break we want you to enjoy some of our favorite episodes. Today's episode is Getting the Gospel Right. In this special live episode, Pat and Mike are joined by Mike Abendroth from No Compromise Radio, Jon and Justin from Theocast, and R. Scott Clark from the Heidelcast as they discuss what makes them tick. They talk about law and gospel, assurance, justification sola fide, and covenant theology.
Michael and Gianna explore the connections between the Old Testament and the concept of new creation, highlighting the themes of restoration and the overlap of heaven and earth. They also discuss different versions of the gospel and emphasize the importance of understanding Jesus as king and living in his kingdom. The conversation concludes with the reminder that the gospel is not solely about personal benefits, but about fulfilling God's purpose and mission.Takeaways- The concept of new creation is a prevalent theme in the Bible, representing restoration and the overlap of heaven and earth.- Understanding Jesus as king is crucial to fully grasp the gospel and live in his kingdom.- Different versions of the gospel, such as the belief in heaven or freedom from rules, can be incomplete and me-centric.- The gospel is ultimately about fulfilling God's purpose and mission, rather than solely personal benefits. The Bible is not about us, but about Jesus and his role in bringing about new creation.- Being in Christ means being part of the team that brings about new creation.- The genealogy of Jesus points to the fulfillment of the Old Testament and the coming of new creation.- The themes of the kingdom, healings, and the commandments of Jesus are all part of the new creation.- The renewal of all things is the ultimate goal of new creation.Chapters00:00 - Introduction and setting a world record10:09 - Old and New Creation in Matthew24:45 - Different Versions of the Gospel30:43 - The Gospel as God's Purpose and Mission34:23 - Being in Christ36:19 - Jesus as the fulfillment of the Old Testament38:15 - The genealogy of Jesus40:34 - The theme of new creation in Matthew49:11 - The theme of the kingdom in Matthew50:05 - Healings as part of the new creation55:06 - The commandments of Jesus as the restoration of God's original intentions59:37 - The renewal of all things

Greg Bryan and Randy Nickel interview a first-time author, Kelton Anderson. Kelton is the author of Click Bait gospel: Igniting a passion to get the Gospel right. In our clickbait world, the Gospel is often reduced and repackaged to be what we desire. The true Gospel is a life-altering experience with the Creator God who demands a new way of living as we follow Him. It's time to embrace the transformative power of the dangerous Gospel and actively share it with our immediate neighbors.Click Bait gospel is a call to believers in America to surrender and complete the works God has prepared for us to accomplish in our lives and local neighborhoods. To stop buying into washed-down, clickbait versions of the gospel. To dig into what Christ teaches about the Gospel and following Him.Powerfully written in simple terms, it reminds us the true Gospel of God is dangerous. Following Christ isn't signing up for a comfortable 60-second sound bite of the gospel. It's engaging in a calling to be holy different and tangibly share the good news for the kingdom of God with mercy and compassion.Available in print, Kindle, and audio versions.Purchase your copy at:https://www.clickbaitgospel.com/

Acts 15:22-35 by Dr. Kenneth Bruce | Senior Pastor
Sermon by Fr. Peter Smith 3rd Sunday of Ordinary Time
In this episode, Dr. Clark continues the Heidelcast series on Romans, beginning with a look at the "New Perspective on Paul" (NPP) and the question of Jews and Gentiles in the early church. Dr. Clark breaks down how the NPP affects Reformed theology and how to consider it critically, with critiques from Michael Horton and Charles E. Hill. He answers texts from John about images of Christ and from Josh about the practice of laying on of hands in ordination. He answers emails from Brandon about singing non-inspired songs in private or family worship; from Susan saying thanks for the recent episode on Getting the Gospel Right; from Jason making the sign of the cross; from Anonymous about the relationship between the Adamic, Noah, Abrahamic, Mosaic, and Davidic covenants; and from Robert about a partial quotation from Herman Bavinck on distinguishing law and gospel. Did Bavinck reject the law/gospel distinction. See the resources below for more on these topics. The opening audio is from Brad Isbell and Luke Gossett on the Presbycast. This episode of the Heidelcast is sponsored by Westminster Seminary California. The need for well-trained ministers and laity is greater now than at any time since the Reformation. Doctrinal confusion abounds. Educational standards are slipping. So the work of Westminster Seminary California has never been more important. We need pastors and leaders in the church who really know the Word, who can really read the original languages competently, who can preach the law and the gospel faithfully, who can shepherd the flock graciously, and who can reach the lost boldly. Does this sound like something to which you feel called? There's no better way to find out than to visit WSC in person! Come to Seminary For A Day, March 10, 2023. You will be able to sit in on classes, meet students and professors, see the campus and student housing, and have all your questions answered in-person by those best equipped to help you on your seminary journey!
