The time has come when the demands of my new role as Lead Pastor at GracePoint Church (https://gracepoint.life) requires me to step away from the Friday prayer episodes. My friend and mentor Pastor Stan Mitchell (familiar with and friend to Latter-day Saints) joins us to share his story of his changed heart/perspective about LGBTQ people that occurred during his ministry at Grace Point Church in Nashville. Stan (who attended Latter-day Saint services as a youth causing him to reframe his view of Jesus from vengeful to loving) talks about teachings of Jesus to love/support/accept LGBTQ folks—accept/validate their pain—and be open to what we can do better to support these good folks. Stan talks about his work with Christian parents who deeply love their queer kids, their Christian beliefs, and want what is best for their kids. He offers suggestions on how to navigate this road. Stan also talks directly to our queer friends to help them feel more love, acceptance, and hope for their future—and a plea for those considering suicide to stay. Stan brings his strong theological insights, soft heart, and 1000's of visits with people walking this road to help others. Thank you, Stan, for your work in many faith traditions to help us better love and support our queer friends. You work has helped me. Thank you for being on the podcast. The goal of the leadership and members at Grace Point Church is to lead people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. If we are in a growing relationship with Jesus, we are His disciples. Leading others into a growing relationship, means that we are to be making disciples. Listen in as Pastor Kyle explains.
Nick Davi and his wife move to Las Vegas and join Grace Point Church. As the family grows with the birth of two children, so does Nick Davi's calling. Nick Davi joins the staff at the church, eventually becoming the Pastor of Operations, overseeing the church's 30,000 square foot facility. The family settles in a gated townhome community in North Las Vegas... Court of Aliante. Over the last year, difficulties with a neighbor make it necessary for Davi to make multiple complaints to the Homeowners Association. And that's not all. The situation is so bad. Davi calls police twice in one month and obtains a restraining order against the neighbor. The family even moves out of their condo for a few weeks to de-escalate tensions. They stay with friends but return home as necessary to collect additional clothes and personal effects. When Nick Davi files for a restraining order against his neighbor, he tells police he and his family feel “terrorized ” after weeks of allegedly harassment. The family says the neighbor thrown rocks and large amounts of dog feces into their yard, accused the neighbor of flooding their home, and during one confrontation threatened the Davi children who were playing their backyard. The neighbor reportedly pulled a finger across her throat in a cutting motion and saying the family was next. The Davi family stops at their home to get fresh clothing and other personal items. The family is pulling out of a parking spot as Joe Junio drives by them, and according to 8 News, parks her car right next to the Davi's car and rolls down her windows. Pastor Nick gets out of his car to talk to Junio, as the children used cell phone to record the altercation. As Nick Davi asks Junio "what is your problem with us?" Junio opens her car door, takes a shooters stance, and fires a gun at Pastor Nick Davi. Davi is shot in the stomach. Junio turns the weapon on Sarah David. According to Grace Point Pastor Ty Neal, "Sarah goes on the offensive and wrestles the gun away." Sarah Davi is shot in the thigh. Joe Junio runs into her townhouse as 911 is called. Pastor Nick Davi dies from his injuries. Joining Nancy Grace Today: Craig W. Drummond - Las Vegas Attorney, Call the Captain, Fmr. The widow of a Nevada pastor is suing her former neighbor for allegedly shooting her husband in front of her and their adolescent children in December last year, recorded by one of her children on their iPhone. Sarah Davi, widow of 46-year-old Nicholas Davi, a pastor at Grace Point Church in Las Vegas, has initiated legal proceedings against 36-year-old Joe Junio. The lawsuit contends that Junio is responsible for the wrongful death of Nicholas Davi. Following the deadly incident, Joe Junio was swiftly arrested and charged with open murder with a deadly weapon, attempted murder with a deadly weapon, two counts of child abuse involving a deadly weapon, and discharging of a firearm where a person might be endangered, according to court records. As of Tuesday, Junio remains incarcerated at the Clark County Detention Center on a $300,000 bond. The attempted murder charge against Junio is a direct result of Sarah Davi also being severely injured in the shooting. The legal proceedings shed light on the individual who owned the firearm used in the fatal incident, raising doubts about Junio's lawful ownership. According to a copy of the filed complaint, the fatal encounter between the neighbors originated from Nicholas Davi filing complaints against Junio with the homeowners association. Though not named as a defendant, the lawsuit asserts that the homeowner's association "provided information" to Junio regarding complaints filed by Nicholas Davi. It further claims that the association "should have known" that Junio would likely resort to violent actions due to ongoing disputes. A police report obtained by the Las Vegas Review-Journal provides additional details about the tumultuous relationship among the neighbors. The report reveals formal complaints filed by the Davi family against Junio, citing violations related to chickens and dogs. Just before the fatal shooting, the couple alleged that Junio had been "engaging in escalating threatening behavior" towards their family. Instances included Junio throwing rocks into their yard, making threatening gestures, and even flooding their home. The family, reportedly fearing Junio's actions, had called the police on her twice. They began staying at a different location due to the escalating threats and hostility. On the day of the shooting, the family was back at home, preparing to leave for the night, when Junio parked her car in her driveway, leading to a verbal altercation with Nicholas Davi. The complaint alleges that Junio opened fire, shooting the pastor first and then his wife. The couple's children, ages 12 and 15, recorded the tragic incident. Sarah Davi is seeking punitive damages, general damages, and damages for grief, sorrow, loss of probable support, companionship, society, comfort, consortium, and damages for pain, suffering, or disfigurement in excess of $15,000 – the standard minimum for state civil suits. Joe Junio is currently in custody at the Clark County Detention Center on $300,000 bail, facing charges of open murder with a deadly weapon, attempted murder, child abuse, and discharging a firearm. The preliminary court hearing is scheduled for March 4, 2024. Want to listen to ALL of our podcasts AD-FREE? • This Series: This 12 week series will look at the major themes in the book of Romans. This Epistle provides the fullest explanation of the gospel in the New Testament. It pulls no punches while describing man's condition, the cause and effect of sin, and the transformational power of the gospel. • This Week: Paul begins the book of Romans with "me" and ends the book with "we". In 27 verses in chapter 16, Paul gives a shout out to 37 individuals who have greatly impacted the ministry. He does this due to his gratitude for their investment in his life and in the church at Rome. It's easy to bypass this chapter due to many names that are difficult to pronounce. However, this chapter gives great insight into a healthy church; a church God assigned people to be a part of. If God has assigned you to GracePoint Church, there is an important role to play. And God is writing down our names as we serve Him through our local church.

Welcome to GracePoint Church! This place is filled with a bunch of regular people living in the real world. We're glad you are here! We believe that all of us are on a journey with God. We want to help you move forward on the path He has for you! We don't have it all together and we don't have all the answers, but we can point you to the ONE who does. ____________________________________________________________________________________ • Find us online at: https://www.gracepointkitsap.com Facebook: http://facebook.com/GracePointKitsap/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/gracepointk... • https://www.gracepointkitsap.com/give
