The hour opens with a Memorial Day weekend reflection, honoring military members and veterans before transitioning back into a lighter, ongoing conversation between Chris Russell and A-MAC about the viral “beer out of a shoe” moment, sparking debate over drinking etiquette and what should or shouldn't be considered acceptable. The discussion then shifts to baseball and hockey, previewing the Nationals' upcoming series against the Braves while also touching on the Montreal Canadiens' strong Game 1 win over the Hurricanes in the NHL Eastern Conference Finals. This week we're highlighting the National Memorial Day Concert, airing Sunday, May 24, 2026, on PBS. One concert segment will focus on the 25th anniversary of 9/11 and will tell the story of Lieutenant General Patricia Horoho, one of the heroes at the Pentagon that day. After joining the U.S. Army, she trained in clinical trauma nursing and was assigned to the Pentagon in August 2001. Moments after terrorists crashed a plane into the heart of the DoD (only 100 yards from her office) she raced to the site and quickly emerged as the experienced leader. Lt. Gen. Horoho shared a vivid look at the battlefield triage that followed and how with only a belt and the supplies in a medic's backpack, she started an IV and treated her first of 75 wounded patients that day. She also shared how 9/11 was not her only experience respoding to a plane crash. From Afghanistan deployments to becoming the first woman and nurse to serve as the Surgeon General of the United States Army, Lt. Gen. Horoho shares examples of service, sacrifice and true miracles. As our nation celebrates 250 years, we remember all those we have lost, and Horoho's memories capture the pride of being American and the power of human connection. On this "Kim on a Whim" segment of the Marc Cox Morning Show, Kim St. Onge shares the heartbreaking story of a woman in Arizona who was told by her HOA to remove a Memorial Day display honoring her fallen soldier brother. The tribute, which included flags and a photo of Sgt. John Kyle Daggett—killed in Iraq in 2008—was labeled a “nuisance.” Marc and Kim react to the story, questioning how far HOAs should go in regulating patriotic displays and personal tributes.
In Hour 1 of the Marc Cox Morning Show, Marc covers the Missouri Supreme Court's decision that once again halts abortions in the state, reinstating Missouri's trigger law. Then, a viral Tesla Cybertruck confrontation takes a legal turn as the man who vandalized Christian Kirk's vehicle with an anti-Elon sticker is now facing felony charges. And in “Kim on a Whim,” Kim St. Onge shares the emotional story of a woman ordered by her HOA to remove a Memorial Day display honoring her fallen soldier brother, sparking outrage over patriotism and property rights.

In a high-energy episode, @intheMatrixxx and @shadygrooove pay tribute to Memorial Day, reflecting on President Trump's May 26, 2025, visit to Arlington National Cemetery to honor America's fallen heroes, a powerful reminder of his commitment to the military and the nation they defended. The show highlights how Trump's policies, like the $150 billion in defense funding from the Big Beautiful Bill, continue to strengthen America's security. They then tackle the disinformation campaign surrounding the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, passed by the House on May 22 with a razor-thin 215-214 vote, which extends Trump's 2017 tax cuts, eliminates taxes on tips and overtime, and invests $46.5 billion in border security. Establishment narratives claim it adds $4 trillion to the deficit and strips healthcare from 14 million, but the show debunks these as fear-mongering, pointing to the bill's $1.6 trillion in savings and focus on prioritizing benefits for legal citizens, ensuring America's resources serve its people first. Paul LaRoche and his group Brulé share this touching Memorial Day Tribute as they have many times over the years. In setting up this tribute Paul relates this story as told to him during a chance encounter with a veteran American Indian elder. "He said, Paul, today there are over 550 recognized tribes, and if we brought them all together for just a moment, we'd still be the smallest of the minorities here in America. He paused for just a minute. In the final part of the story, the conclusion, there was a statistic in there, and one I had never heard before. It really caught me by surprise, I'll tell you that. I've checked it out. I find it to be authentic and valid to this day, 17 years later. What he had said was, even though we are the smallest of the minorities, we still have the largest number of men and women per capita, the largest number of men and women, per capita, that enter the military and armed services every year. He was proud to pass this along. And it was then that I realized that the warrior spirit still runs through the hearts of the people and the pride and love for this country, our home, still runs very high and very strong. There was an honoring several times that weekend that took place that had such an impact on my family and I. I made a personal commitment that whenever given the opportunity later in life I would provide such a recognition. Never did I realize that we'd be here 17 years later and be able to provide this recognition hundreds, thousands of times, actually. I've seen this honoring many times here in Branson and at these theaters, and perhaps this evening, this will be the first time that we provide this honoring in the traditional Native American way to all servicemen and women, veterans, wounded and fallen warriors. Translated, the song we simply call, Soldier Boy."
