A fan favorite is back on the Oklahoma Outdoors Podcast this week. John's wife Mackenzie joins him this week to talk about hunting, family, kids, and the balance of it all. This episode was a hit last year, so John decided to double down and go for round two. John and Mackenzie start off by talking about how much more challenging this hunting season was now that their daughter Hallee is getting older and fully mobile. Hallee is at the age where she needs constant supervision and is always getting into things. So when John took off for the deer stand it put a lot more pressure on Mackenzie. On the other side of the coin, John felt that same pressure which made leaving much harder on him. The hope of this episode is to help all couples out there know that they are not alone. Life balance is tough, no matter if it's hunting, work, or just the hustle of modern day society. John and Mackenzie have found that communication and expectations are monumental in retaining a healthy relationship during the fall, and honestly year around. They go through the things that have helped them communicate better and get through a fun, but challenging state of life. Even if you are young, single, and ready to mingle, this episode is packed full of good lessons for the future. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Hello there, Hallee and welcome to the show. It's great to have you with us. Hallee Bridgeman - Inspirational romantic suspense author Hallee Bridgeman: Thank you so much. I'm excited to be. Jenny Wheeler: You are the best-selling author of inspirational fiction with nearly a million copies sold. That's a point for congratulations and celebration for starters. And we are going to be talking today about one of your recent series, Love and Honor, but you've got six other series and also half a dozen or so standalone books. Give us an idea of where did you get started? Was it with the inspirational fiction, right at the beginning? Hallee Bridgeman: That's what published first, but I wrote years ago, I was originally a secular romance author, not a Christian romance author. I had 10 books written that were secular, typical, straight up romance. And then. I shelved them for a few years, I went through a divorce and I got remarried and I had babies and then one day I pulled them out and that was when I changed them to Christian fiction. Six of those original stories have been published, but I redeemed them. I went in and I made them Christian instead of just a romance story. What else you'll hear in Hallee's interview: Why she rewrote her first ten books How Hallee manages a fulltime job, home schooling two ten boys, and publishing 49 books as well How being a ‘military brat' has influenced her writing. Why Hallee likes to focus on focus on ‘Type A' strong men. and realistic characters who face real world problems. OUR AMERICAN FAMILY is a radically honest, unfiltered portrait of a close-knit Philadelphia family fighting its greatest nemesis: generational addiction. Beginning with a pivotal, “nothing to lose” moment, then captured over the course of the following year, five family members tired of life plagued by addiction on center stage, each struggle to transcend their crippling histories: a mother who learned from childhood to enable her own mother's addiction, a daughter who doesn't know who she is without a substance, a son who learned everything about “Heroin 101” from his sister, a younger son who feels alone but acts content to ease the family's burden, and a stepfather who wonders if addiction is really a disease or simply a by-product of laziness. What will it take to shift this entrenched, wrenching pattern in their lives? How will they each free themselves from their interlocking fates? Will they be able to make significant changes to help their next generation? The members of OUR AMERICAN FAMILY invite us into their lives to find hope and to explore what is possible. No experts.
