Tonight, we're hearing from Whetū Fala, the filmmaker behind Taki Rua Theatre: Breaking Barriers.
I declare that I am a lover of wisdom and a never ending seeker of the understanding of the things of God. For God has a position on every matter and for every option available to me on a matter, I will by the spirit of God, find the path of the “more excellent way”. The way that would bring fruit, The way that would solve problems, The way that would make manifest the glory of God. As scripture recounts that Pharaoh was so impressed by the counsel of Joseph and remarked “Can we find any like him, who is so filled with the spirit of God?” So will such statements follow me everywhere I go. But like Joseph, teach me to remain humble and to always return the glory to you. Fill me O' lord with your spirit of wisdom in my field, Not so that my ego would be stroked but so that men will conclude that only You could make such wisdom available. I shun folly and idle talk, I shun media engagement that capitalises on small silly gossip, Expand my thinking Lord, Sharpen my intellect by your spirit. Whet my curiosity and appetite for life giving knowledge. I declare that the conversations around me change, That they are upgraded to a God level kind of conversation That carry eternal perspective and weight . I declare that I mature into a son and daughter that embodies wisdom and that you can wholeheartedly trust to implement your will. So help me spirit of the living God. This is Sassy and I pray the release of the Kingdom of God into your life. Welcome to Pocket-Sized Podcasting, brought to you by Alitu: The Podcast Maker. And on this episode, we’re talking about what to include in your podcast outro. Just like the podcast intro, there are no “rules” as such, but if you want to close your episode effectively, think about the following. Send them to ONE place - your website. Here they can find show notes with links to everything mentioned in the episode. Put transcriptions and follow-up resources here, too. Next, include ONE ‘Call to Action’ - for example, “subscribe to the podcast”. If you give them too much to do, chances are, they won’t do any of it. Other CTA options might be things like “tell a friend”, “buy the book”, or “support the show”. Finally, if possible, offer them a teaser for the next episode. Whet their appetite for what’s in store, and keep your show fresh in their mind until a new one drops. For a deeper dive on this topic, head over to http://thepodcasthost.com/outros

For such a small owl, the Northern Saw-whet has a lot to say. And a lot of ways to say it. Males weigh about as much as an American Robin. And they send out at least 11 different calls, including “toot-toot-toot” advertising calls, from late January through May. The rate of calling is partly determined by the nighttime temperature. And perhaps to keep other Saw-whets out of a food-rich territory, males may toot more frequently when their favorite prey, white-footed mice and deer mice, are plentiful.More info and transcript at BirdNote.org. Savoring Appalachia Susi Gott Séguret When asked which cuisine most typifies America, chefs are bound to tell you it stems from the South. From the luscious belly of our nation, the mountains where sweet corn is grown and the rivers where trout flashes its rainbow colors, all the way down to the Mississippi Delta, the South has a gift for capturing both our hearts and our taste buds. If the South is the heart of America, Appalachia is the heart of the South. It has been said that to understand America, you must first understand Appalachia. Edgar Allen Poe preferred Appalachia to America as a name for a country of enterprising immigrants. Join Susi Gott Séguret for an adventure into the soul of the Appalachian Mountains. Susi will dish out a program of stories and song, recipes, and her own fiddle playing. Whet your appetite as you savor the sweetness of the ballads and ingredients which define this region of rare history. BIO: Susi Gott Séguret, author, chef, fiddler, forager, hails from Madison County, North Carolina, in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains. A Certified Culinary Professional and Certified Specialist of Wine, with a diploma in Gastronomy and Taste from the Cordon Bleu and the Université de Reims, Susi is the founder and director of the Seasonal School of Culinary Arts. The school convenes four times a year; in Asheville, Ithaca, Sonoma, and Paris. Susi also orchestrates a series of wine dinners known as the Asheville Wine Experience; and a series of foraging-cooking-dining events called the Appalachian Culinary Experience. Susi has authored a quartet of books: Appalachian Appetite, Child of the Woods, Cooking with Truffles, and A Chef's Book of Favorite Culinary Quotations. http://www.susigott.com/index.html Recorded via Zoom on October 25, 2022 CONNECT WITH CULINARY HISTORIANS OF CHICAGO ✔ MEMBERSHIP https://culinaryhistorians.org/membership/ ✔ EMAIL LIST http://culinaryhistorians.org/join-our-email-list/ ✔ S U B S C R I B E https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6Y0-9lTi1-JYu22Bt4_-9w ✔ F A C E B O O K https://www.facebook.com/CulinaryHistoriansOfChicago ✔ PODCAST 2008 to Present https://culinaryhistorians.org/podcasts/ By Presenter https://culinaryhistorians.org/podcasts-by-presenter/ ✔ YOUTUBE https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6Y0-9lTi1-JYu22Bt4_-9w ✔ W E B S I T E https://www.CulinaryHistorians.org
The gospel of Jesus Christ is truly amazing. Not only are we forgiven of our many sins by God's grace through the atoning death of Jesus, but we receive the gift of the Holy Spirit when we put our faith in Christ. The Holy Spirit is not only at work within us, transforming us into the image of Christ, but the Spirit is also at work through us to build up the body of Christ. With such an amazing gospel, why did Paul need to tell the church to use their spiritual gifts? Why wouldn't they be using their gifts as the natural overflow of their salvation? (Romans 12.3-8) October 30, 2022

Welcome to Pocket-Sized Podcasting, brought to you by Alitu: The Podcast Maker. And on this episode, we're talking about what to include in your podcast outro. Just like the podcast intro, there are no “rules” as such, but if you want to close your episode effectively, think about the following. Send them to ONE place - your website. Here they can find show notes with links to everything mentioned in the episode. Put transcriptions and follow-up resources here, too. Next, include ONE ‘Call to Action' - for example, “subscribe to the podcast”. If you give them too much to do, chances are, they won't do any of it. Other CTA options might be things like “tell a friend”, “buy the book”, or “support the show”. Finally, if possible, offer them a teaser for the next episode. Whet their appetite for what's in store, and keep your show fresh in their mind until a new one drops. For a deeper dive on this topic, head over to http://thepodcasthost.com/outros

You are invited to watch along with us over the next ten episodes! 100 Films is quite the mountain to climb. We understand exactly how overwhelming watching that many movies can feel. So . . . we made a list of just 10 films as a much smaller, much easier, much more digestible way to dip your toes into the AFI Top 100. We'll watch, discuss and break down this ever-so-manageable sampling of the full list, and hopefully--like us--you'll emerge with a better understanding of film and storytelling, and a desire to go and watch the rest. Here's the list: 1. Rear Window (1954) 2. Goodfellas (1990) 3. Yankee Doodle Dandy (1942) 4. The Gold Rush (1925) 5. Citizen Kane (1941) 6. Apocalypse Now (1979) 7. Jaws (1975) 8. The Wild Bunch (1969) 9. The Graduate (1967) 10. Swing Time (1936) The Story Grid 6 Core Questions The Story Content Genres
