The original assignment given to the disciples by Jesus is to be the standard we live our lives from. We feel that God is inviting us to remember the fundamentals of the Great Commission. In this message, Bill Johnson calls us back to the original assignment Jesus entrusted to His disciples—a commission meant to be carried through every generation, not diluted by time or compromised by culture. Authority was never lost in God's kingdom, and it's our duty to align our awareness and lives with that truth. How does living from this truth impact the level of authority we walk in? How is righteousness and justice expressed from that place? What do we begin to value and what motivates us when we're aligned with the reality of God's authority? This sermon invites us into a renewed vision of collaborative partnership with God, where prayer moves mountains, lies lose their power, and the Holy Spirit is no longer a background presence but the primary Person of our lives. We bless you as you listen along with us!

Today we are talking about our power and authority as Christians. And how with those things, we can then go lay hands on the sick and see them recover and also see people delivered from demonic oppression. God never calls us to do something without first equipping us to do this and Matthew 10 is very clear that we have the authority to do these things but also that we are commanded as Christians to heal the sick, raise the dead, heal the lepers and cast out demons. You'll hear today:What to say to get a demon to leave according to Jesus' example of doing this found in the Bible (and what they might do but why you don't need to be afraid)A recent personal story of experiencing an attack of a spirit of fear and what I said to get it to leave right awaySigns what you are feeling is a spirit of fear and not anxietyA simplified approach to praying for the sickPast episodes mentioned:How to Practically Share Your Faith (and talk about God with others)Corresponding episodes: When Your Heart Hurts (Emotional Healing 101)Praying in Tongues Helps me with Anxiety (it's a VERY healthy habit!)Jesus Wants You Free of Anxiety (Bible Based Advice that Has Worked for Me)Connect with Nyla:IGWebsiteNyla's second podcast, On the Job with God Christian Business Podcast
[Jesus] said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptised will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” (Mark 16.15-18, NKJV) I believe in the importance of the healing ministry: Go into all the world, heal the sick, raise the dead – don't move away from the simplicity of Jesus. Do what the early disciples did. The miracles are the evidence that Jesus has forgiven their sin.
Which is easier: to say, “Your sins are forgiven,” or to say, “Get up and walk”? But I want you to know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins.' So he said to the paralysed man, ‘Get up, take your mat and go home.' Then the man got up and went home. When the crowd saw this, they were filled with awe; and they praised God, who had given such authority to man. As Jesus went on from there, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax collector's booth. ‘Follow me,' he told him, and Matthew got up and followed him. While Jesus was having dinner at Matthew's house, many tax collectors and sinners came and ate with him and his disciples. When the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, ‘Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?' On hearing this, Jesus said, ‘It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but those who are ill. But go and learn what this means: “I desire mercy, not sacrifice.” For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.' Then John's disciples came and asked him, ‘How is it that we and the Pharisees fast often, but your disciples do not fast?' Jesus answered, ‘How can the guests of the bridegroom mourn while he is with them? The time will come when the bridegroom will be taken from them; then they will fast. (Matthew 9.5-15, NIV)
Luke 9 & 10; John 14:10-14
Jesus stepped into a boat, crossed over and came to his own town. Some men brought to him a paralysed man, lying on a mat. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the man, ‘Take heart, son; your sins are forgiven.' At this, some of the teachers of the law said to themselves, ‘This fellow is blaspheming!' Knowing their thoughts, Jesus said, ‘Why do you entertain evil thoughts in your hearts? Which is easier: to say, “Your sins are forgiven,” or to say, “Get up and walk”? But I want you to know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins.' So he said to the paralysed man, ‘Get up, take your mat and go home.' Then the man got up and went home. When the crowd saw this, they were filled with awe; and they praised God, who had given such authority to man. (Matthew 9.1-5, NIV.)

Today, we are reminded by our Mother the Church about each of us members of the Mystical Body of Christ that we have been sent. You read that correctly. As members of the Catholic Church, as Catholic Christians, we are essentially sent by Our Lord Jesus Christ, just like He sent the apostles to fulfill a mission. What does that mission entail? Find out in today's homily.

“Heal the sick who are there and tell them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.'” — Luke 10:9 As a missionary, I sometimes traveled with health-care workers from the Luke Society, a medical mission organization, to remote villages in the Philippines. There we met people who usually didn't have access to healthcare. The Luke Society workers were able to diagnose and treat illnesses and provide dental care, and we all shared the love and good news of salvation in Christ. Sometimes this work resulted in the planting of new churches as well. Through the centuries, many new believers have cited physical healing as a significant factor in coming to faith in Christ, especially in frontier mission locations where there were few Christians and few doctors. Such healing—whether through miraculous gifts or through professional health care—aligns with Jesus' instructions to heal the sick. This is an essential part of bringing the gospel. The good news of God's kingdom is about wholeness in all aspects of life, now and forever. In mission work today we use the term “kingdom professionals” for people who are called to reach people for Christ through their profession. They are trained not only in the Bible and missions, but also in professional skills that can give them access to unreached people whom traditional missionaries might not be able to reach. Perhaps you are one, or you may become one. Lord, guide us to use our gifts, training, and experience to be your mission agents wherever we are and wherever you may lead us. Amen.

You will learn how to effectively cast out demons and heal the sick; the proper way to pray for people
Divine healing is a gift of God's grace for all. Just as salvation comes to us by God's grace, healing does as well. We do not deserve it and cannot earn it. In the NT people did not view healing as a right, but as an act of God's grace. We are in no position to demand God to give us healing.Main Points:1. In the church today there is a lot of false teaching about healing. What the Bible teaches us is that healing occurs according to the will of God. There is no magic formula. God is concerned about our needs. We bring them to him. We pray. But God is the healer.2. Admittedly, the sovereignty of God is difficult to understand. Why does He heal some and not heal others? I do not know. But this is not for me to figure out or question. My responsibility is to do what I have been instructed to do in Scripture.3. Let's remain confident in our belief that God has the power to heal the sick and that this blessing is offered to us.Today's Scripture Verses:James 5:13-15 - “Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise. Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven.”Isaiah 53:5 - “But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes, we are healed.”Quick Links:Donate to support this podcastLeave a review on Apple PodcastsGet a copy of The 5 Minute Discipleship JournalConnect on SocialJoin The 5 Minute Discipleship Facebook Group

What does it look like to meet the needs of very vulnerable people in the face of glaring global disparity? What does it look like to bring God's Kingdom through improving access to healthcare in the Global South? These are the questions we're looking at today as we dive into conversation with CEO of CURE International, Justin Narducci. Justin and his team CURE are distinctly rooted in Luke 9:2 where Jesus commissioned His disciples to proclaim the Kingdom of God and heal the sick. For them that means running hospitals in eight countries, providing over 330,000 surgeries and sharing the gospel with 1.5 million people. In this final teaching from our series through the book of James, Pastor J.D. Greear reminds us that in the end, we can be encouraged that God does indeed hear the prayers of his children, and it is often through them that he chooses to accomplish his work on earth.
Is prayer actually effective? And if it is, should we still pray even if we have a less-than-robust faith? In this brand new teaching, Pastor J.D. sheds light on a crucial—and often misunderstood—passage about prayer from James 5.
