Chapter 534 - "A Big Explosion Of Energy and Positivity" ...as read by Henry Cox of Boston ManorToday we welcome Boston Manor frontman Henry Cox to the podcast. The new Boston Manor record, Sundiver, is out today on Sharptone Records. Henry talks about his local music scene, how fatherhood and the pandemic reshaped the band, how touring has changed as the years have gone by, the process of promoting a record, and more.https://www.bostonmanorband.com/https://www.patreon.com/asthestorygrowsDiscordhttps://asthestorygrows.substack.com/Email: asthestorygrows@gmail.comChapter 534 Music:Boston Manor - "Horses In A Dream"Boston Manor - "Sliding Doors"Boston Manor - "Heat Me Up"
Interview by Kris PetersBritish rock outfit Boston Manor are gearing up for the release of their new album, Sundiver, which will hit the airwaves on September 6.Celebrating new beginnings, second chances and rebirth, Sundiver is the next chapter of a story that began with the 2022 album Datura, but, unlike the bleaker undertones of that record, Sundiver sees things through more rose-coloured glasses. The culmination of two years work and four years of planning, Boston Manor always knew going into the pandemic that their next record would be a double album released in two parts: the first, a shadowy-noir electronic record conceptually set over one night (Datura) and a second sprawling rock record that documents the following day (Sundiver). The fact that the album has already spawned four successful singles is a fair indication of the quality of the material, with Container, Sliding Doors, Heat Me Up and Horses In A Dream all providing a glimpse into the musical majesty Boston Manor have created.HEAVY sat down with frontman Henry Cox to find out more."We've been working on this record for four years, really," he measured. "It's crazy to think about, so it's pretty surreal to have it coming out there in the world. I'm excited to hear what people think of it."We ask if he is feeling anxious, nervous or keen to get it out there with the release so close after so much work."Kind of a mix of all three, to be honest with you," he smiled. "It's weird having sat on a record for so long. I've not done that before. Usually six months or whatever you get into the whole rollout thing, but with this one we've had an early version of the mixes for almost a year now, so we've been sitting with it for a minute. I'm happy to say that we're not bored of it yet. We really enjoy listening to this record. I am quite keen to just get it out there. We just started playing some of the songs of the record live which is really refreshing and super fun. It's obviously part of a double album concept with our previous record, so we put a lot into that, so I'm keen to just let people hear it.'Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/heavy-music-interviews--2687660/support.

Henry Cox is the lead singer of the (don't call them a pop-punk) British band Boston Manor. They have a killer straight-ahead new rock song called "Container" and maybe a new album coming? That we cannot confirm yet, so let's ask Henry and talk a little shop on episode 364 of Cutter's Rockcast.
Yesterday, we heard Terranea Resort President Ralph Grippo talk about how they monetize every square foot of their property through programming, activities, and events. It's also what makes this property so special as a guest - something I felt as they hosted me last week. In this episode, you're going to hear more about what they're doing and how they're doing it from their Resort Activities Operations Manager, Henry Cox.What did you think about this episode? Oh, I do like to be beside the seaside – especially when that means having a chat with one Henry Cox, leader of increasingly chuggy Blackpool emo popsters Boston Manor. I've been a fan of that lot for ages now, and so it seemed like the perfect time to check in with the band on the eve of a return to live action in the USA for the first time since the world went absolutely fucking mental. The plan was to have a chat with them about their excellent new EP, Desperate Times Desperate Pleasures – out now on Sharptone. The conversation went to places far beyond that, but I'm really happy with what transpired. I'm sure you'll agree that Henry is a man with something – nay, many things - to say. TURN ON, TUNE IN, EVOLVE… In the 1950s corporations used psychedelics as creativity tools... can modern companies – and strategic individuals – use psychedelics to help solve some of the most pressing problems of our time? Can a global psychedelic village think its way out of planetary crisis, or get back into Gaian union? Can we all have the shared vision of a psychedelic utopia if we all have different psychedelic experiences? Is psychedelic elitism a danger and is our grasping at utopias falling prey to it? Should we be dosing Steven Hawking, and the world intelligentsia or should they be volunteering for the front lines of consciousness expansion? With a sense of urgency building on planet earth, is a NEW type of psychedelic revolution our best hope for planetary survival? Experiential journalist Rak Razam asks this provocative question to a panel of experts at the Entheogenesis Australis 2010 conference including: Rick Doblin (President of MAPS, the Multi-discipline Association of Psychedelic Studies), Henry Cox (senior anthropologist at the Kimberley Land Council), Joseph Gelfer (author and researcher in the School of Political and Social Inquiry at Monash University), Torsten Wiedermann (Shaman Australis)and Carl Turney (EGA).
