A lot of the messaging in this podcast and DeepClean can come across as "anti-filter", when in reality, internet filters can have an essential place in the porn recovery process. The mistake men commonly make is relying exlusively on the filter – this can lead to disastrous outcomes. When a filter is supplementary to an inner transformation process (program, counseling, coaching, etc), it can be highly beneficial, provided it is used appropriately. Today's episode explains exactly how you can do that. InternetNZ has slammed the government's proposal to set up a nationwide internet filter which would block out harmful content online. The filter is being considered as part of the government's wider response to the Christchurch mosque shootings, after the shooter livestreamed the attack. InternetNZ says a web filter contradicts the Prime Minister's assurance of a free and open internet under the Christchurch Call. Jordan Carter is the chief executive of InternetNZ. He speaks to Corin Dann.

For over five years the Federal government has been promoting its plan for a mandatory internet filter, but yesterday it backed out the scheme saying it was too broad. Instead, Communications Minster Stephen Conroy said he’s come to an agreement with internet service providers to block a small number of child abuse sites. Most observers say the move was a massive backflip, while some Christian groups said they were disappointed. Free speech group “Electronic Frontiers Australia” welcomed the back down. Mark Robinson asked the group’s executive officer, Jon Lawrence, if he was surprised by the change of heart.

There's not exactly much more details than the headline on this one, but China's official Xinhua news agency is reporting that the country is delaying its plans that would require that the so-called "Green Dam Youth Escort" internet filtering software be installed on all PCs sold in China. That requirement was set to go into effect on Wednesday but, as we have seen, it's caused no shortage of controversy during the lead up -- both because of the general nature of the software, and because of some piracy and security issues that could leave PCs with the software vulnerable to an attack. No word on a new date just yet, but it seems unlikely that the delay will be an indefinite one. [Thanks, James]. Filed under: Desktops , Laptops .
