Central Michigan vs. Ohio Pick Prediction 10/9/2021 by Tony T. Central Michigan at Ohio—College football pick is Central Michigan -5. Chippewas have a good passing game averaging 306 yards per game. Backup quarterback Jacob Sirmon could start here and went 7 of 8 in relief. Central Michigan does a good job of defending the run and running is a strength of the Bobcats. Bobcats quarterback Kurtis Rourke averaged just 4.7 yards per pass attempt against Akron last week, 5.7 per attempt against Northwestern and 5.3 versus Louisiana in this past three starts. Bobcats have been horrible in run defense allowing 251 yards and 5.6 yards per rush. Play Central Michigan -5.
Happy Friday folks! It's hard to believe, but it's officially October, and conference play is starting to heat up in the MAC. We've learned a lot through the first month of the season, but these next few weeks will be critical as the true contenders in the conference should emerge. To open up this week's show, the boys look back at the results from week 4 and give their performances of the week. Bowling Green certainly stole the show last Saturday, using a spectacular defensive performance to upset Minnesota, 14-10. The Falcons have been the surprise of the year in the MAC thus far. How will their momentum carry over into conference play? Elsewhere in the conference, Central Michigan QB Daniel Richardson came off the bench in the second half to lead the Chippewas to a thrilling, come from behind victory over Florida International. He has been named the starter moving forward, after Washington transfer Jacob Sirmon won the job out of camp. Elsewhere in the conference, Ball State continues to disappoint, and Miami failed to play up to expectations in a 23-10 loss at Army. Both the Cardinals and the RedHawks have a lot to figure out right now, especially on the offensive side of the ball. To close out the show, Steve and Zach take a look at all of the match up's for week five. The start of conference plays gives us some very intriguing match up's that will certainly make for appointment television. Western Michigan travels to Buffalo, and we aren't sure exactly what we're getting from the Bulls just yet. The Broncos, on the other hand, enter conference play at 3-1 and full of confidence after back to back impressive victories over Pitt and San Jose State. A few hours to the southwest of UB Stadium, Bowling Green travels to Kent State in a game that represents a clash of styles. Which strength will prevail in this one, the Kent State offense or the Bowling Green defense? We cover all that and more! As always, thanks for stopping by this week folks. Have a great weekend, enjoy all of the football, and we'll see you back here next Friday! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

You would stand a better chance of breaking into Fort Knox than the Washington Football offices if you were to try and find out who leads in the competition to start at quarterback. After tweeting a 9-6 result, courtesy of a game-winning field goal by Peyton Henry, Lake wouldn't even concede that touchdowns hadn't been scored during UW's last practice 'game', held last Saturday night. The Huskies will have their final practice game Thursday morning at 9 am to cover any early game time contingencies the team may be faced with during their 7-game season that opens up in Berkeley a week from Halloween. But that didn't stop the media from trying to ask questions in a way that would offer a bit of a window into Lake's thinking when trying to determine who will start at QB against the Golden Bears. Lake did offer that Thursday's game would go a long way toward determining who has separated themselves from the pack. Jacob Sirmon, Dylan Morris, Ethan Garbers, and grad transfer Kevin Thomson have been the four protagonists in this particular positional drama, and Lake said all four continue to be well in the battle. When asked if he could point to just one player who has impressed him during camp, Lake wouldn't bite. And in fact, he made a point of noting he wouldn't talk about any new players because that might tip off opponents, so he mentioned the usual suspects as having excellent camps: Elijah Molden, Cade Otton, Jaxson Kirkland, Keith Taylor. But any insight into the younger prospects that have emerged as potential impact performers and game-changers? I think Lake would rather visit his dentist for multiple root canals than go down that rabbit hole. But he did wax eloquently when asked about Budda Baker, and why not? The former UW star's performance against the Seattle Seahawks Sunday night was worthy of high praise, and Lake didn't mince words. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
The guys from Dawgman.com - Kim Grinolds, Chris Fetters, and Scott Eklund - go through each position group to recap what the coaches and players have talked about since the media are only allowed 20 minutes per week to watch the team and gather video and photos. And there has been a lot to chew on. The media has spoken this week to UW Head Coach Jimmy Lake, new offensive coordinator John Donovan, defensive coordinator Pete Kwiatkowski, offensive line coach Scott Huff, and linebackers coach/special teams coordinator Bob Gregory. They also spoke with Luke Wattenberg, Sean McGrew, Josiah Bronson, Ryan Bowman, Keith Taylor, and Elijah Molden. So what did the Dawgman guys get out of those conversations, as well as the two 20-minute sessions they've seen of the team since a week ago Friday? Plenty. There's certainly a lot to suss out when it comes to the four-man quarterback battle (Jacob Sirmon, Dylan Morris, Ethan Garbers, and Kevin Thomson), as well as how a bigger running back stable will impact Donovan's attempts to create an aggressive, downhill rush game. And what about the freshman receivers? Everyone has been bigging up Jalen McMillan, Rome Odunze, and Sawyer Racanelli. And with the Huskies awarding Jack Westover with a scholarship, that means UW now has six tight ends with rides (Westover, Cade Otton, Devin Culp, Mark Redman, Mason West, and Jack Yary). And that's not even counting Jacob Kizer, who has opted out of the season due to COVID-19 concerns. How do they plan to use them all? There's also plenty of talk about the offensive line. UW's most experienced linemen are moving positions (Luke Wattenberg to center and Jaxson Kirkland to left tackle), and their backups are HUGE. If you take the current official roster as the gospel, there are SEVEN offensive linemen at 315 pounds or heavier. As Lake said Friday to the media, there's a reason they don't let Heavyweights fight Lightweights. The Heavyweights would destroy them. And he wants to put that to the test on the football field. Switching over the defensive side of the ball, the Dawgman guys talk about UW losing two of their most talented players in Levi Onwuzurike and Joe Tryon, but the Huskies kept Elijah Molden, who will be a huge key for Death Row in 2020. How will the front seven reinvent themselves without two of their key cogs? And at inside linebacker, Edefuan Ulofoshio rose up at the end of last year to establish himself in the middle. But who will run inside with him? And which players out of that talented group of redshirt freshman ILBs will bust out this fall? There are so many talented defensive backs, where does a guy like Kyler Gordon end up? Or Julius Irvin? Or Kamren Fabiculanan? Is there just not enough turns for the four true freshmen this fall (Jacobe Covington, James Smith, Elijah Jackson, Makell Esteen)? The Dawgman guys break down their thoughts on all those questions, and more, in this comprehensive recap of what we learned the last week. Learn more about your ad choices. Apparently, it's springtime all over again. At the end of spring football, Washington was down to only three scholarship quarterbacks for 48 hours: Jacob Eason, Jake Haener, and Dylan Morris. Move forward nearly four months, and Washington is back to having only three scholarship quarterbacks for the 2019 season: Jacob Eason, Jacob Sirmon, and Dylan Morris. So what happened? What caused Jake Haener to suddenly announce that he was immediately transferring from Washington just one day after Chris Petersen confirmed the news that Eason had won the starting quarterback job over Haener, Sirmon, and Morris? Dawgman.com's Chris Fetters and Scott Eklund get together Saturday afternoon, to record an emergency podcast to address these questions, and to offer up a vision for how the Washington Quarterbacks room will look this fall, and next year as well. Will the Huskies look to add another quarterback to join Ethan Garbers in 2020? Or will they look to the transfer portal to give back a quarterback now that they've lost two quarterbacks to the portal this year alone? Is a graduate transfer the way to go? Will they go with a top-notch preferred walk-on? The announcement by Haener on Saturday only opens up more questions, and Fetters and Eklund offer up their insights into the move during this 17-minute podcast. Learn more about your ad choices. The guys from Dawgman.com - Kim Grinolds, Chris Fetters, and Scott Eklund - compiled their thoughts after Day Two of Fall Camp Saturday night, and in a weird quirk of fate, there wasn't a whole lot of disagreement from Day One. The offense continued to show early signs of life, something that's been a rarity in years' past. The defense definitely came back and had their moments too during the final team session. Practice was a little longer than Friday's Day One workout, as the Huskies continue to ease back into things. There was more kicking than Friday too, and the guys get into that a little bit, as well as a deeper dive into the quarterback competition and where they think things stand with Jacob Eason, Jake Haener, Jacob Sirmon, and Dylan Morris. The guys from Dawgman.com - Kim Grinolds and Scott Eklund - throw in their two cents, and then some, as they break down the Washington quarterback battle heading into fall camp, who they expect to eventually win the starting QB job, and what to make of the other competitors within the competition. Now that Colson Yankoff is no longer a Husky, there's only four quarterbacks left in the UW QB room: Jacob Eason, Jake Haener, Jacob Sirmon, and Dylan Morris. Who wins the job? And based on who wins, who is likely to be the most popular player on campus (the backup)? Will Washington suffer even more quarterback attrition based on the results of fall camp? Lots of questions to be asked of the Washington quarterbacks heading into fall camp, and Grinolds and Eklund try and answer them here. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

The M's play an early game against the Cubs today after losing a close one last night. Dick says fans in opposing venues don't need to be quite so obnoxious, but did that really feel like an opposing ballpark for Chicagoans? Dick says players should work their way up the ladder, but Softy believes players should do what's best for themselves.
