The guys from Dawgman.com - Chris Fetters and Scott Eklund - got together to put a bow on Washington's June recruiting efforts and offer some best guesses on if the Huskies are going to get any commitments in the next few weeks heading into fall camp. To start, they recapped the last recruiting visit weekend where UW hosted 7 recruits - Kodi Greene, Davon Benjamin, Ansu Sanoe, Pulelei'ite Primus, Ksani Jiles, Elijah Durr, and Rahsjon Duncan. Only three - Benjamin, Primus, and Duncan - are currently uncommitted while the rest are committed to UW. How did the weekend go in terms of gaining any new commitments? Chris used 247Sports' Recruiting Class Calculator to project out a potential scenario given the current uncommitted recruits that have taken official visits to UW. That list, as it currently stands, would put the Huskies at 23 verbal commitments. Is that scenario a reasonable one? And could the Huskies get some players that took official visits to Montlake but committed to other schools to flip their commitments toward UW? The guys also talked about how well the coaches have done so far in addressing position needs. To finish out the 55-minute recruiting podcast, Scott offers his best guess as to whether or not UW will earn any commitments during the month of July, typically the last month to make decisions for prospects who want to make their decisions public before their senior seasons start. And will they all be currently uncommitted players? Or will the coaches be able to entice a prospect or two to change their commitments in favor of the Huskies? In just over two months, NC State head coach Will Wade has put together one of the most talented and versatile rosters in the country. With that in mind, Travis Branham of 247Sports joins this week's podcast to discuss the new-look roster and Wade's addition as a whole. Cory Smith and James Curle break down the roster with a look at players like Darrion Williams, Terrance Arceneaux, Ven-Allen Lubin, Tre Holloman and several others this offseason. The guys also look at the recent happenings with football recruiting, wrestling and more!
The guys from Dawgman.com - Chris Fetters and Scott Eklund - are back to talk about the second half of June and how the Washington Huskies are poised to attack the rest of the planned official visits. To start, Scott opines on whether or not the Huskies can actually put together their best recruiting class ever. Currently UW stands at 15th overall in the 247Sports' team recruiting rankings. What will it take for them to finish in record-setting fashion? Then the guys talk about the three recent verbal commitments - TE Sam Vyhlidal, RB/WR Dre Pollard, and WR Mason James. The first two are great examples of how recruiting can come together very quickly, and James is the archetype example of how a typical recruitment goes for a top prospect from start to finish. After a quick break the guys move on to the Huskies' next recruiting weekend, which will be next weekend. Because of commencement happening this weekend and a dead period starting on Monday the 23rd, the weekend of the 20th is the last time in June the Huskies will have a chance to bring prospects in on official visits. Right now, eight players are listed. As Scott details, that number should change before the weekend starts as some currently listed may not come to Montlake and UW could definitely add others to try and finish things off on the right foot. To finish out the podcast, Scott talks about the currently uncommitted players, as well as players committed to other schools that have visited Washington, that could end up Huskies and deliver on his plan to have UW's best recruiting class ever. Ohio State is currently recruiting seven 5-star prospects in the Class of 2025. How realistic is it for us to hope they end up in Columbus? We asked The Dean - Bill Kurelic - that very question. With our Mark Porter weighing in with LIVE video reviews, we break down all seven and Ohio State's status with each. That means deep dives on (in order of 247Sports ranking): Felix Ojo, OT, Lake Ridge (Mansfield, TX) Xavier Griffin, LB, Gainesville (Gainesville, GA) Bralan Womack, S, Hartfield Academy (Flowood, MS) Darius Gray, OL, St. Christopher's School (Richmond, VA) Savion Hitter, RB, Louisa County (Mineral, VA) Jett Washington, S, Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas, NV) Tyler Atkinson, LB Grayson (Loganville, GA) We also get you ready for a weekend of visits that will both shock and awe. Names, names, names. That would be enough for an award-winning show ... but not enough for this one. Mark also features exclusive camp video from his Ohio canvassing and spies several schools ready to enter powerhouse status on the high school gridiron. Spend 5ish with us this a.m., 'Nutters! Could we interest you in the nation's top linebacker? How about the nation's second-ranked linebacker? Would you be OK if both became Buckeyes? Start getting OK ... maybe. Georgia native Xavier Griffin (No. 1 LB per 247Sports) de-committed from USC and will visit Ohio State. Georgia native Tyler Atkinson (No. 2 LB) is also a hot Buckeyes target. Feel free to dream about adding the top two linebackers and top two defensive backs (Blaine Bradford and Braylon Womack). Dreaming is free. The prospects won't be. Bill Kurelic is here to get you completely caught up on recruiting targets, who is visiting and who Ohio State coaches are on the road checking out. That would be enough for a regular show. NOT THIS ONE! Mark Porter reports from the road - literally - after spending quality time at Akron Hoban with future Ohio State OL Sam Greer, the Feister brothers and more.
