The NBA can't take this lightly, they have the opportunity to clean things up and remove any doubt that their players are rigging prop bets, but they have to lay the hammer. :35- Let's play some fact or fiction! :45- Now that the Mariners season is over, we start to look at the offseason; does Geno Suarez have a future on this team? Texas and Penn State were both upset this weekend and both have dropped out of the top 25, can they redeem themselves this weekend? :30- The Ol' Judge made the trip to Detroit and he's ready to weigh in! - Josh Naylor will hit at least 1 homerun with his new Dad strength today. - The strangest thing we've learned about Detroit today is that the food they're known for is Coney Island food… what? - Will Gabe Speier be the key to winning this series for the Mariners - The Lions and the Mariners are the same… - Bucky's mom would still leave his Dad to this day for Tom Selleck :45- We close out the show with one last thing! Headlines and JAY BUHNER joins the show to give us his thoughts on this Mariners regular season and how he feels about this team heading into the playoffs. :30- The Huskies fell to the Buckeyes on Saturday, which wasn't the surprise. The surprise was in how they lost, with the defense keeping them in the game and the offense struggling. :45- ABCs of the Mariners - W is for Wilson: Dan Wilson is getting ready for his first postseason as a manager in the major leagues and while he struggled a bit in the beginning, he seems to have knocked that rookie rust off heading into the playoffs. - X is for exit stage left: there are some teams who were eliminated from the playoffs and it's sad… and there are others who have been eliminated and it's not even a little sad! It's Apple Cup time! Could this be the beginning of the end of the rivalry? Vegas (and Softy) think this will be a blowout and if these two programs keep moving in different directions, will the rivalry survive? Is it even a rivalry anymore? It's definitely not the same as it was. :30- Mariners Morning After- the Mariners got the series win in Kansas City on the heels of some good pitching, timely hits and a challenge we've never seen before. :45- It's time for our no cliché keys to victory as we get ready for the Seahawks to host the Saints on Sunday. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
The Mariners win streak ends after a loss in Kansas City last night, but did we really think the Mariners would win all of their remaining games? Maybe some of us did… :30- Mariners Morning After The offense battled back after Bryce Miller gave up a 1st inning 3-run home run and it seemed like it was setting up to be a classic Mariners win, but Matt Brash fell apart in the 8th and things unraveled quickly on the way to a 7-5 Royals win. HIGHLIGHTS ATTACHED :45- It's Apple Cup week and all signs point to a Husky blowout. Does Jedd Fisch want to prove a point after last year's loss? We are talking to Softy next to find out! See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Headlines and SOFTY joins us to talk Apple Cup… and a little Mariners. Softy's predictions seem to get bolder and bolder, but how does he really think the game will play out in Pullman? Is there any chance the Huskies are overlooking this game and looking ahead to Ohio State next week? What are some of Softy's best Apple Cup memories? :30- The Seahawks host the Saints on Sunday and Devon Witherspoon's (Spoonman) status is still up in the air. Should Mike MacDonald sit him given the opponent? :45- ABCs of the Mariners - F is for Faulty: Dom Canzone goes 5 for 5 on Tuesday and gets benched on Wednesday because of the pitching matchup… - G is for Geno: he's only hitting .185 since coming to Seattle, which has been disappointing, but he came through last night and maybe he's headed back in the right direction. We've grabbed the best moments of Wednesday's show! - Happy Cal-O-Ween! - 12th man news with Gregg Bell - Cam Cleeland is here for Apple Cup week! - Angie Mentnk is here to celebrate the holiday. - Cal and the M's are on a roll, but there's no room for error!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
We are witnessing a season to remember and the only proper way to celebrate it is to acknowledge Cal-O-Ween. The Mariners are playing good baseball, they aren't just winning on good pitching or high scoring offense, they're finding a way to do it all and if they can keep it up, they'll go far. Of course, the question remains, can they keep it up? No matter how well we've done over these last 10 games, we are still only a half game up on the Astros, so theirs is no room for error. :30- There's been a lot of chatter about the play of Demond Williams Jr and Jonah Coleman, but is it too early to start hyping up postseason awards for the Dawgs? The real test is still a week and a half away against Ohio State. :45- We close out this humpday with one last thing! See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Softy cannot stand the new "rivalry" jerseys the Seahawks rolled out, but Dick takes the Oregon/Jets/Eagles element out of it and says they actually look good. Softy vehemently disagrees with that hypothetical. The guys discuss the potential for Washington Football this year as we watch them kickoff their season tomorrow night. Micah Parsons is a Packer - Softy and Dick discuss the trade from a Seattle perspective. Should the Seahawks have jumped in harder? Dick questions the money, but Softy would've done it considering the rise in the salary cap the NFL will have in the next few years. Lee Sterling, Paramount Sports joins Softy and Dick to handicap the first weekend of college football! Biggest games of the weekend, he's got you covered. Hugh Millen gives the final thought on the Seahawks 'rivalry' uniforms, in which he declares them 'trash'. He explains why. Hugh goes on to explain what the Huskies will be facing in Colorado State tomorrow night with an offensive scheme headed up by head coach Matt Mumme. Hugh tells us what he's looking for from the Huskies in their first game of the season. Finally, his thoughts on the Micah Parsons trade.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

It is rare that a journalist can speak to the growth of the WNBA not just from the perspective of coverage, but from its very conception.Christine Brennan began her career as a sports journalist by breaking barriers. After receiving her master's degree from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University, she became the first female sports reporter for the Miami Herald in 1981.While working for the Washington Post in 1985, she broke the NFL's gender barrier and began covering the Washington Football team—almost three decades before the franchise dropped its racially insensitive name and became the Commanders."There were moments when people did not want me around," Brennan recalls. "Even the coach, Joe Gibbs."Brennan says Gibbs did not believe a woman should be in the locker room. "This was '85 and the NFL was the last of the big leagues to have an equal access policy."Eventually, her professionalism turned the tide, even winning over Coach Gibbs—begrudgingly. Brennan recalls Gibbs saying, "I personally don't believe it's right, but I've been told we're doing it. So we will do it. She will be treated right, and that's the end of the conversation."Since then, Brennan has covered countless athletes and events, including Tiger Woods, Venus and Serena Williams, and multiple Olympic Games. While her comprehensive sports coverage is impressive, it is her reporting on the WNBA since its infancy that gives her a unique perspective on the league's evolution. She covered foundational players like Sheryl Swoopes and Cynthia Cooper as they helped establish the league as legitimate and highly competitive. Legends like Lisa Leslie, Maya Moore, and Candace Parker paved the way for today's stars like Napheesa Collier and A'ja Wilson, who have set the benchmark for excellence in the league.Yet without winning a single championship in college and without a single playoff appearance so far, the name most synonymous with the WNBA right now is Caitlin Clark. From her long-shot three-pointers to buzzer-beaters in college, Clark became a fan favorite. But she also became a flashpoint for racists and homophobic fans to share their ideals. Clark is the star who has ushered in sold-out arenas, lucrative TV deals, and higher endorsements across the league. A white player from middle America has walked into the house built by Black women and captured mainstream attention in unprecedented ways.In her new book "Her Game: Caitlin Clark and the Revolution in Women's Sports," Brennan asks poignant questions about race, recognition, and the complexities of the WNBA's newfound popularity. The central question she explores: If everything about Clark's game remained the same but she was Black, would she receive the same level of mainstream attention and endorsement opportunities? The resounding answer is no — but she sees this moment as growing pains for a promising WNBA future rather than an insurmountable problem. In this episode of the Jackie Rae Show, Brennan discusses her groundbreaking career, the role of race in sports coverage, and what the WNBA could have done better to protect its players during this period of explosive growth.

In this college football podcast episode, Ralph Russo from The Athletic joins us to break down the complex College Football Playoff negotiations happening behind closed doors between the Big Ten, SEC and other conferences. Our conversation centers on how the number of SEC conference games is driving the debate, explores the Big Ten's push for automatic qualifiers, and examines why these meetings keep happening without real progress.Ralph explains the power dynamics between Tony Petitti and Greg Sankey, why ESPN might not want playoff expansion, and how Brett Yormark is trying to wedge the SEC away from the Big Ten.
