Today on the show I'm sitting down with Mark and Lisa Moody of a popular local brewery, Double Groove Brewing. Mark and Lisa are not just brewmasters, they are tireless supporters of our local talent and have been growing at a meteoric velocity since [at least] 2019. I remember talking to Lisa at the genesis of Double Groove Brewing and could tell they had big plans, and this wasn't a ‘Flash in the Pan' idea; it was something that would eventually take Harford County by storm and, in a few short years, they've done exactly that. Blending music with beer and beer with community, Double Groove Brewing is a force that everyone who loves a good time should be out to support. I'm thrilled to finally have them on the show. Join me in welcoming Mark and Lisa to the Mouthful of Graffiti podcast. As always, thank you to Double Groove Brewing, Vagabond Sandwich Company, Music Land Store, Heather Sipes - Baltimore Decal Gal, [the gone, but never forgotten] Black Eyed Suzie's, REB Records-MD & Caprichos BooksSponsored by the Harford County Cultural Arts Board.

Jessy is on her way back to Colorado, so once more you are subjected to the ramblings of Corey and Matson on whatever is crossing their minds. It has been another week of craziness in the world of Jeeping... and not all of the good kind of craziness. So, in this random episode we talk 4xe, submersible Jeeps, why Jeep can finally think about the future, being a Backpack hoarder, responsible Jeeping, learning the intricacies of recovery (warning... there is math involved) and we go down the list of upcoming events ModernJeeper is going to be at including Jeepers Jamboree, Jeep Jamboree, All-4-Fun, and the Great Smoky Mountain Jeep Invasion. And we can't forget our own ModernJeeper Adventure on the San Juan Mountains of Colorado... registration is now open! Then we pause for a moment of seriousness after last week's tragedy on the Rubicon, and what it is we all need to remember... wheeling is a dangerous sport. When a photo of a new “boy band” crossed PR Agent Heather Hawkins’ desk in 2001, she was surprised at how glamorously they were presented. The era of Backstreet Boys was over; kids were listening to “real music” (like highly produced punk), and what was more, the look of the band didn’t match the sound. As Heather and her coworkers listened to the music and got to know the band members, they quickly realized that something needed to change. “[W]e realized that in order for them to survive in the ecosystem we needed to absolutely double down on the music and who they really were as people. We understood that that was going to mean making some really tough decisions.” Heather and her crew took on the philosophy of “Radical Authenticity” and proudly began shipping the band to Jeep Jamboree campouts, Sam Adams beer festivals, and locations, where bands respected for their musical proficiency, would be expected to play. Their long game paid off: the band, Maroon 5, became a globally recognized tour de force, and are still producing hits today. Now the CEO and founder of Elevation Strategy, a visibility consultancy, Heather loves working with companies to crystallize their brand DNA and find their “guiding North Star.” Listen in to our conversation and learn more in the show notes at https://whitneyjohnson.com/heather-hawkins
