It's the month of March of 1865 and it's only a matter of time before the collapse of the Confederates. We start out the episode with the Battle of Averasborough on March 16th as Sherman was moving his Army towards Goldsboro, he split it in two where Lt. Gen. William J. Hardee decided to attack the force led by Maj. Gen. Henry Slocum. This was a preclude to our next battle of Bentonville. At Bentonville on March 19th-21st the Confederate forces were entrenched when Slocum came up upon them and the battle began. After Sherman sent reinforcements, all hope was lost for the Rebels. We finish off the episode at the Siege of Petersburg and the battle of Fort Stedman on March 25th. Confederate Maj. Gen. John B. Gordon, under orders of General Lee, attack the siege lines of the Union at the Fort. This would be the last serious attempt by the Confederates on the Union lines of Petersburg. Today Jeff Keene joins us again to discuss KM Wehrstein's theory of the eternal warrior. In researching military past lives, KM discovered the interesting phenomenon of people repeating multiple military past lives, almost as if they were driven to lives of service and battle as a calling. Jeff Keene is the quintessential eternal warrior, with his memories of being a samurai, Arthur De Richmond,General Israel Putnam in the Revolutionary War, John B Gordon and even in his current life, he served in the military for a short period of time before leaving the army and pursuing a career as a fire fighter. We also discuss his encounter with the mother of a small boy who remembered also being a firefighter who died in the 911 terrorist attack on the World Trade Centre. Join us now to learn more about this interesting subject.
Untangle the complex conspiracy that led to the tragic deaths of Charlotte Kay Elliott and Kevin Edwin Frase on the banks of the Rio Grande. On the night of July 13, 1980, a hitman fired a high-powered rifle into the crowd at Pepe's On the River, an outdoor bar in Mission, Texas. He missed his target, a witness in the Loop 360 drug case, but killed two young bystanders. While state court prosecutions for capital murder inexplicably faltered, a federal court gave the assassin a life sentence for attempted murder of a grand jury witness. A member of the judge's staff who was present throughout the trial, author John W. Primomo revisits the dramatic twists and turns surrounding this murder on the Rio Grande. John W. Primomo served twenty-nine years as a U.S. magistrate judge for the Western District of Texas in San Antonio. He previously authored two books: The Appomattox Generals: The Parallel Lives of Joshua L. Chamberlain, U.S.A., and John B. Gordon, CSA, Commanders at the Surrender Ceremony of April 12, 1865 (2013) and Architect of Death at Auschwitz: A Biography of Rudolf Höss (2020). For thirty-plus years, he has volunteered with Camp Discovery, a summer camp in south Texas for children with cancer. He is also the president of the nonprofit corporation that operates Camp Discovery and several other camps for children with life-threatening illnesses and their families throughout the year. One of the best things about communicating with other entities - deceased, trans-dimensional and otherwise unlike the physical humans we are accustomed to engaging - you realize - alone is an illusion. A surprise guest. Big Bird joins me for this segment. Unintentional, spontaneous, he decided to start talking prior to this recording, as I was reading an article about a woman who grew up in a haunted house and didn't find that out until she discovered her Mom going through a bunch of photographs. Only after she realized the nature of the photos did her Mom inform her about the haunting. An extreme case. This is the link for that article on Huffington Post. Link. When I tell this story during the show, Big Bird joins in. He also chimes in as I am talking about the haunted doll in a Weston, Missouri retail shop. Her name is Nicolette and she is famous for her icy demeanor. Glass had to be replaced when she was displayed in the storefront window space. Her handlers are now cautious regarding her placement in the store. She is a beautiful doll. And she is also quite haunted. This isn't the first time Big Bird has entertained me with his charm but it is the first time I have actually been able to capture a spontaneous interaction and document it with a recording of the activity very easily connected to triggering events. The pandemic changed my schedule. I have not been back to Weston for the annual Dining with Ghost events. Verna's book of local ghost tales is available. Link. This year, I visited Black Jack Battlefield to read the site and learn what ghosts might be active in that space. And it is active. I discovered that battlefield skirmish was a very small part of the story - there is so much more going on in that space beyond a simple battlefield encounter. I have blogged that part of the story in more detail. Part 1 begins here: Link. The videos that include my visit are up and running, Free State Horror Stories. 4 installments on Black Jack Battlefield and the very active ghosts of Civil War battlefield sites and towns. Link. (Youtube for more recent if they don't show up in the preview.) History records that battle as a part of the Civil War history and a catalyst in starting the conflict. However, on another plane, that battle continues. The souls trapped in that state would like it to be known war is not a thing to celebrate. There are no winners - only casualties. And some of the souls designated as deceased are still caught up in conflict and trying to get out. That will indeed happen when true peace is achieved on the physical plane. Somehow, some way, one day, the fighting has to stop. Reincarnation - Civil War memories. Interview coming up with Jeffrey Keene - who remembers his life as John B. Gordon, Confederate general, Army of Northern Virginia, died January 9 1904. Link. Proof Positive - Reincarnation of Jeffrey Keene. Link. Source Ruth Montgomery quote: Link. This week, I am sharing the latest oral history that I was able to do with Ms. Mary Ann Hightower, who grew up amidst the dairy farms of East Atlanta. We talk about her parents, her childhood, school at John B. Gordon, Murphy and Girls High, movies at the Madison Theater, going "downtown" to Rich's and why her grandkids call her "Coach". This week, we’re talking about Kirkwood - its earliest settlement history, community landmarks and historic events and people. This Muskogee/Creek land was ceded in 1821 and divided into 5 initial land lots. Early white settlers include James Kirkpatrick and Jesse Clay. Post-Civil War, Kirkwood became home to politicians like John B. Gordon. It tried to incorporate as it's own city in 1899 (not without drama), which didn't pass until 1904, and then was annexed into Atlanta in 1921 (more drama). After 'white flight' of the late 50s/early 60s, Kirkwood becomes an exclusively African American neighborhood by 1967. Want to support this podcast? On June 28th, 1863 as Confederate forces marched toward Gettysburg, they first tried to cross the Susquehanna River. To do so, rebels under the command of General John B. Gordon first needed to cross the world's largest covered bridge at Wrightsville. A battle against Pennsylvania militia ensued, and the landmark bridge was destroyed. On this episode our guest is author Scott Mingus...spared no expense.
