Join Podcast Patreon In this two hour UK Thrash Metal special I get to catch up with old friends. Firstly Pete & Steve (insert ludicrous stage names here) from the pioneers of Mower Metal and heavy metal snails Lawnmower Deth. They have just released their first album since 1993, Blunt Cutters and we discuss how it came about, how and why it was recorded plus lots of laughs and memories from back in the day. Then it's on to another old friend with a newish album out and that is Phil De Sade of Holosade. This interview dates back to July 2021, just after the release of their comeback album Anastasis. We chat about piecing a new line up together, touring in a pandemic and also get to talk old times and Acid Reign stealing Mac their bass player. There is also the annual Howard's favourite top five albums of last year feature as well as the latest news including a judge owning Taylor Swift, good and not so good bay area comebacks and a mini Meat Loaf tribute. Devil's Island - An Interview with a difference from The Razor's Edge www.therazorsedge.rocks Qualcast Mutilator and Concorde Faceripper of the mighty Lawnmower Deth got shipwrecked on Devil's Island! What happened when the ship sank? What did they save from the wreckage? And how did they survive? Find out now!
Lawnmower Deth. Often ignored, usually misunderstood, but has been a staple in my ears and in my heart since the early '90s. The boys from Nottingham took quite the hiatus and are back with a new album after a 28 year gap; their first record since 1993's "Billy." In this episode I talk with Pete Lee, vocalist for Lawnmower Deth, and we listen to a couple new songs, an old song, and discuss various things such as bread rolls, the importance of the Grindcrusher comp, Dan Seagrave, and why the band took such a long break. So, pass the aux to Pete, and join us for a delightfully punk/thrash conversation and hear why Lawnmower are better than ever! Closing song "Raise your Snails" from the upcoming Lawnmower Deth album 'Blunt Cutters' out January 28th on Cherry Red Records. -------------------- "I Hate Music" theme by Marius Sjoli. -------------------- https://www.facebook.com/hatepod.music/ https://www.instagram.com/i_hate_music_podcast/ Email and listener suggestions to: hate.pod.music@gmail.com Donations to support our podcast: paypal.me/hatepod #ihatemusicpodcast **I Hate Music is an Earth in Sound Production** https://www.earthinsound.org/

This time we speak with Pete Lee of the late-80s/early 90s thrash-metal band Lawnmower Deth! Including what they're up to these days (hint: they aren't just sitting on their asses.) The what if on the table is a very though-provoking question: What if Rock music never existed? From rock's beginnings to even farther back, we prattle on about how different the world would be if the best form of music (our opinion) never came to be.
The disastrous duo stretch their elderly memories back to the terrifying and terrible mix of thrashcore and comedy that staggered from the underground in the late 80s'early 90s: O.L.D, Lawnmower Deth, Spazztic Blurr, Extra Hot Sauce and their ilk. What does Bushie think of Billy Milano? What did Jamie think tankard were singing? And what's the best use of a Harry Connick Junior tape? Join us as we reveal the answers!

It's the greatest crossover of all time—again!!—as the delightful Kait & Renata from Worst Bestsellers repay our James Patterson guest spot with one of their own, joining us for James Patterson & Gabrielle Charbonnet's Witch & Wizard. Yes, it's dude magic and lady magic together again for the very first time, in a Frankensteined-up teen-centered dystopia slash ... record scratch noise Holocaust metaphor? And the blandest title ever committed to print, with a prophecy naming the brother-and-sister team who will save the world after second-tier Disney semi-hit The Rescuers? Look, we're just as confused as you are, and we do this all the time. Anyway, this is a book (probably?) for modern-day teens (we think?) that includes an incredibly up-to-date reference to (racist caricature) Ming the Merciless on like page two, so it's safe to say that it's real James Patterson hours around here, folks. Anyways, Renata & Kait are great, this book is definitely not, and this episode is more fun than anybody can have without an heirloom drumstick and a leather-bound book. Recommendations: Akata Witch by Nnedi Okorafor Gravity Falls on Hulu Into the Spider-Verse Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins Bluets by Maggie Nelson Music: "Everything Is Not What It Seems (Wizard of the Waverly Soundtrack)" by Selena Gomez "Your Body Is a Wonderland" by John Mayer "Kids in America ('93)" by Lawnmower Deth (or the De la Deth mix)
Ellory Walton has been my daughter for almost 12 years now. She is an amazing, and disturbingly brilliant and hilarious individual. Her music taste might be suspect, and honestly, confounding, but her insight into the way kids her age get exposed to music, share music, and consume music is fascinating.
