Lanzado por el sello Cherry Red Records el 28 de marzo, al igual que su predecesor “Magazine 1” de 2022, el LP muestra a Flür trabajando con Peter Hook ,(Joy Division, New Order) y el DJ Juan Atkins, a quienes se unen en el nuevo álbum Boris Blank de Yello, Thomas Vangarde (ex-Daft Punk), Anthony Rother y el colaborador de Kraftwerk, Emil Schult. Chaz Jankel came to prominence as the musical director for Ian Dury's Blockheads,  helping to steer those pub rock survivors away from punk and toward funk, disco, and pop. Chaz went further into fusion on his own, creating a stylish music that bridged the boundaries between new wave and the mainstream. When Quincy Jones spotted "Ai No Corrida" on Chaz's eponymous solo debut and decided to have Dune sing the tune, the song became an international hit, reaching 28 on Billboard's Hot 100 and 14 on the U.K. charts,. This established Jankel as a force outside of the Blockheads. Over the next decade, Chaz Jankel worked on his own, releasing a total of four solo albums in the first half of the '80s and scoring a massive dance club hit with '81's "Glad to Know You." Eventually Chaz wound his way back to Ian Dury Iserving as his chief collaborator on 98's  Mr. Love Pants and 2000's Ten More Turnips from the Tip.  Ian Dury died shortly afterward, leaving Chaz as the leader of the Blockheads, a role he'd maintain alongside his solo career.Born in 1952 in Middlesex, Chaz Jankel was drawn to music by Lonnie Donergan , the king of Britain's skiffle craze of the '60s. He had picked up the guitar as a child, then learned piano but while at boarding school, he fell in love with soul and funk. His first major band was the folk-rock group Byzantium and later he joined Jonathan Kelly's Outside, appearing on their '74 LP  Waiting on You, then he went on to play with Kilburn and the High Roads during their final days in the mid-'70s. Jankel hit it off with Kilburn leader Ian Dury, so once  the High Roads split, the pair formed the Blockheads, a punk band that supported Ian Dury on his '77 solo debut, New Boots and Panties! It wa at this time that the band steered itself towards funk and disco - a shift in direction that accentuated Chaz Jankel's musical interests.The album Do It Yourself turned into a huge hit for Ian Dury, providing momentum for Chaz to launch a solo career in 1980; although he'd continue to write with Ian Dury, notably collaborating on "Spasticus Autisticus" from 1981's  Lord Upminster. Signing with A&M, he released his eponymous solo debut Chasanova in 1981 and made inroads in the U.S. thanks to the single "Glad to Know You," which became a number one hit on Billboard's Hot Dance Club Play chart, staying there for seven weeks. That same year, Quincy Jones covered "Ai No Corrida," Chaz's lead track.   Quincy's version became an international hit, turning the song into something of a new wave disco standard. The album Chazablanca arrived in 83 and Looking at You came out in 85.Jankel relocated to the US in the late 1980s, where he started to work as a film composer beginning with the Dennis Quaid -starring remake of the 1949 film noir D.O.A.; the latter was co-directed by Chaz's sister Annabel. Chaz eventually returned to the UK in the mid-'90s, leading to a reunion with Ian Dury and the Blockheads. Jankel and Dury collaborated on the singer's final two albums, 1998's Mr Love Pants and 2000's Ten More Turnips from the Tip. Ian Dury died shortly after this in 2000 and Chaz Jankel continued to lead the Blockheads through a number of tours and records, all the while continuing to work on a solo career of his own. Throughout the 2000s, he regularly released albums. During the 2010s, his recording projects involved the Blockheads, who released Same Horse Different Jockey in 2013 and Beyond the Call of Dury in 2017.Cherry Red Records released Glad to Knot You: The Anthology 1980 - 1986, a five-disc compilation of Jankel's recordings, in 2020 and more recently Chaz has released and reissued a recording of DOA Reimagined. Surrey and England legend MARK BUTCHER takes a break from the commentary box to talk about his new album "Always Somewhere". This one features more personal writing and Mark talks us through a few of the standout tracks and talks about recording and playing live, all while juggling the day job! Esta semana, dedicamos una nueva sesión de Rebelión Sónica, a la icónica banda del rock espacial inglés Hawkwind, con material de su álbum 2024 “Stories from Time and Space” y de “Onward” de 2012. “Stories From Time And Space” es el trigésimo sexto álbum de estudio del extenso catálogo de grupo liderado por Dave Brock y fue lanzado por el sello Cherry Red Records el 05 de abril. El LP fue grabado por la formación actual de Hawkwind con Brock en voces, guitarra, teclado y sintetizadores, Richard Chadwick en batería y voces, Magnus Martin en guitarra, voces y teclados, Doug MacKinnon en bajo y Tim "Thighpaulsandra" Lewis en teclados y sintetizadores. Además, fue masterizado en los célebres Estudios Abbey Road de Londres. En la parte final del programa, viajamos doce años al pasado en la historia del conjunto, para escucharlos con música del disco doble “Onward” de 2012, el vigésimo séptimo de su obra.

En octubre de 1984 se lanzó el disco “Native sons”, primer álbum de The Long Ryders. Con motivo de su 40 aniversario Cherry Red Records reedita aquel trabajo en una caja de tres discos que incluye sus primeros EP’s, las demos del álbum, unas maquetas de 1982 o un directo registrado en su primera visita a Londres a comienzos de 1985. My guests, for the first episode of 2024, are Wolfgang Flür and Peter Duggal Wolfgang Flür, a true legend of electronic music, needs little introduction. He was a member of Kraftwerk, one of the most influential acts of all-time, from 1973-1987.  He played electronic drums on Kraftwerk's best known albums, including ‘Autobahn', ‘Trans Europe Express' and ‘The Man Machine'   Peter, who has worked with a number of artists over the years, including Apache Indian and electronic musician, MAPS is a musician and producer based in Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire. Peter's first single ‘‘Psyche' released in 1990 achieved chart success in the UK Dance and Indie charts  Peter and Wolfgang talk to me about the making of their album ‘Magazine 1' which came out in 2022 on Cherry Red Records. The Darling Buds were another one of those excellent British alternative bands of the late 80s/early 90s that was sadly short lived. Three strong albums in four years and then nothing for a long time. People listening to college radio or scouring records stores around that time would know them well. Thankfully, the band is back with an incredible box set, Killing For Love, Albums, Singles, Rarities, Unreleased 1987-2017, just released by Cherry Red Records (they're so good at this stuff). Peter Straker - the man who was close friends with Freddie Mercury. ⁠⁠When Peter Straker first recorded music he was the given the moniker of the Black Bowie. He was fresh from a career defining role as Hud in Hair - the musical that redefined the musical, outrageous, brave and trailblazing. His career as an actor, found him choosing roles which were audacious and bold - playing what we'd term today as a non-binary role in Girl/Boy - a film way ahead of its time. He was the narrator in the original Tommy musical, and much later in 2017 played the role that Tina Turner took in the film, the Acid Queen. His roles in the west end are numerous and has had a stellar career, his voice captivating.⁠⁠Born in 1943 in Jamaica, Peter's recording career started in the late 1970s. He had just met Freddie Mercury with whom he was to become firm friends. Mercury helped him getting a recording deal with EMI and even co-produced with Roy Thomas Baker (who produced the first three Queen albums) This One's For Me, Straker's first album on the label.⁠⁠His career as a recording artist stuttered and he reconsidered what was he doing. [TW//Drug Misuse, Suicidal Thoughts] Today I welcome singer, songwriter and author of the Amazon bestseller The Joy of Addiction, Sebastian Wocker. Aged 17, Wocker landed the principal part of Woof in the 1983 European tour of the musical Hair where, suffering teenage angst, low self-worth and low self-esteem, he went into a deep depression and had to throw in the towel after two months. He returned to his safe haven of drugs and alcohol in London, where he auditioned for and got into LAMDA (London Academy of Dramatic Arts), only to drop out after two days because he 'couldn't stand all those happy clappy prima donnas'. The real reason? He was an addict, hopelessly hooked on drugs and alcohol and didn't want to be found out. Sebastian takes us on a compelling journey down the abyss of alcohol, cocaine, speed, cannabis, hallucinogen and prescribed drug addiction, leading him to various rock bottoms and 'dark nights of the soul'. Then, aged 21, a moment of inspiration: a seed planted by his long suffering mother finally got him into the 12-step programme, offering him the life-changing gift of recovery. For anyone struggling with addiction, he shares how he got himself out and continues to live life, a day at a time — a free man. Having found recovery in 1987, Sebastian formed indie-rock band Yeah in 1990, playing the London, Hamburg and Berlin club circuits. After a five-page interview with Die Zeit Magazine in 1992, Yeah appeared on various radio and TV shows and in 1993 was awarded The John Lennon Talent Award in Hamburg. In 1998 he wrote and produced World Cup Crescendo for TV impressionist Alistair McGowan. In 2002 he signed as a songwriter for Global Chrysalis Publishing, writing numerous songs for Cherry Red Records and Universal Records and released his solo album: Don Sebastiano, The Spaghetti Tree. In 2007 Wocker recorded the soundtrack of German movie Pornorama with Mousse T and, in 2010, was the singing voice for Tobias Menzies in the award winning independent motion picture Forget Me Not. Sebastian has written as a journalist for The Independent, Mr Partner Magazine (Japan), Camden New Journal and Ham and High Express. He is currently journalist and editor of the Hampstead Village Voice and has interviewed various household names including Emma Thompson, Russell Brand, George Graham, Giles Coren and Martin Bell. Wocker is currently recording an audiobook for his best selling book The Joy of Addiction, out on Audible from February 2024 and is writing the sequel: The Joy of Relapse. He is currently the lead singer/song writer of indie band Ridiculous with Jon Moss, Erran Baron-Cohen and Peter Noone. Tim Pattison - Prolapse - in conversation with David Eastaugh https://preciousrecordingsoflondon.bandcamp.com In 1993 the band released two EPs on Cherry Red Records, Crate and Pull Thru Barker, followed in 1994 by the single "Doorstop Rhythmic Bloc" and album Pointless Walks to Dismal Places, which won critical acclaim. The band gained attention for their live performances, particularly for songs like "Tina This Is Matthew Stone", which depicted a dialogue between two furious partners. The songs were not as much sung as they were acted over a musical accompaniment. After leaving Cherry Red records, they then went on to release a variety of singles and EPs on a number of different labels.

Kevin Hewick in conversation with David Eastaugh New releases: Touching Stones, Tasting Rain (2016, Botheration) Driven By Love, Driven By Hate (2017, Botheration) Never Give Up On A Song (2021, Botheration) English singer-songwriter who was an early member of the Factory Records roster. Today he is known for his recordings on Sorted, Pink Box and his own Botheration label, and his recent work with Venetian collective Unfolk. Hewick signed to Cherry Red Records in 1983, and released the album Such Hunger for Love, the single "Feathering the Nest", and This Cover Keeps Reality Unreal, a four-track 12" EP recorded in collaboration with The Sound. These and various items from Hewick's time on Factory were later reissued by Cherry Red in 2003 as the Tender Bruises and Scarscompilation CD

Davey Johnstone is the longtime guitarist and musical director for Elton John.
