Earlier in the summer, I collaborated with the SmartRecruiters team to interview four fantastic practitioners who spoke on The Hiring Without Boundaries stage at RecFest in London. We recorded the conversations backstage at the event, and this is the second of three podcast episodes where I will be sharing them. It's an unprecedented time of disruption in talent acquisition. Economics, demographics, and technology are driving seismic shifts in how companies think about hiring. With the pace of change continuing to increase, the most successful TA functions will be the ones that adapt the quickest. My second RecFest guests are Lindsey Stone, Group Head of Talent Attraction & Resourcing at Greene King, and Eric Houwen, Head of Talent Acquisition & Employer Branding at Deloitte in The Netherlands. Although they work for two very different types of business, there are a lot of interesting commonalities in Eric and Lindsey's approach to TA transformation. In the interview, we discuss: The forces driving change in TA Employability and Social Mobility Shifting workforces Evolving talent acquisition What skills does a TA team now need? Developing a consultative approach Positioning TA to drive value for the business The role of technology How do you take your people with you? What will the role of the recruiter be in 10 years? In this conversation with Lindsey Stone, we discuss her past in the criminal justice system and her connection to The Obama administration's criminal justice reform. She talks about the differences between state and federal jails as well as those that are privately owned or operated. She details what she learned from that experience and how she uses that to help others. We also discuss what led her to get involved in criminal justice reform work and what led to the formation of her organizations. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/tennesseeprogressiveleagu/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/tennesseeprogressiveleagu/support
Bill WinchesterFounder/Creative DirectorWebsite Address: www.think-and-make.comABOUT THINK AND MAKE:We are brand creators. We find a brand’s story and epoxy it to interesting creative executions.WHAT WAS THE BIGGEST OBSTACLE YOU HAD TO OVERCOME IN YOUR BUSINESS?Going from a full-service agency to having zero support starting a new agency.WHAT MAKES YOUR COMPANY UNIQUE?We’re a gig agency that curates talent to a client’s specific challenges.WHAT IS A TIP FOR SUCCESS THAT YOU WOULD PROVIDE SOMEONE IN YOUR INDUSTRY?Dig deeper for a great creative idea. Data doesn’t hand it to you. You still need to find it.THE BIGGEST CHANGE IN MARKETING THAT I SEE COMING IN THE NEXT 3 YEARS IS?Recognizing the power of creative effectiveness and leveraging it across all forms of media.HOW DID THINK AND MAKE COME TO BE?I started at Carmichael Lynch, worked on Harley Davidson, and a couple of other big things like that. I went to a small agency called Lindsey Stone and Briggs in Madison, Wisconsin for quite a number of years. We did quite well there for a while. You know, we won agency of the year, did some of that kind of stuff. However, the plight of small agencies, I think, has gotten really, really tough. Last year, we shut that down. I then started Think and Make. I think that there’s a better model for small agencies, and that’s the gig model, which means I work with a small group of people and we borrow talent from all over the place. Lindsey Stone is Chapter Be's guest blogger for the month of December. Lindsey was one of the co-founders of Clean Getaway Soap Company, which she started with her husband, Mikel. Yet, after seven years in business, they made the decision to retire it - even though it was what many would deem a success. Lindsey writes about this decision in her piece, Begin Again, as well as how quitting one thing just allows room for something else to blossom. Features Things Will Never Be the Same Again by jj
In 2012, a woman named Lindsey Stone posted a picture she took as a joke to her Facebook page. A month later, she was under attack from all corners of the internet, out of a job, hounded by the press. The internet had targeted her for a public shaming. Jon Ronson, journalist and author of the new book "So You've Been Publicly Shamed", walks us through Lindsey's story and introduces us to the sometimes sketchy world of online reputation management.
