Rosie Shuster is a national treasure – in Canada AND the US. A two-time Emmy winner, she was an integral part in the creation of Saturday Night Live, with contributions to the show that cannot be overlooked. From helping craft the show from the ground up during the summer of '75 to developing Dana Carvey's iconic Church Lady character, Rosie joins us to discuss all three of her stints writing for the show, as well as the evolution of women on the show, the importance of taboo in comedy, and tracing the roots of SNL back to her childhood living room. She also reveals the writers' true feelings on putting Garrett in drag, who got upset when they didn't get to play Uncle Roy, and who had the best audition tape she ever witnessed.Rosie also offers her candid thoughts on the Saturday Night movie and recounts her experience at the SNL50 celebration – which just might surprise you.---------------------------------Subscribe today!Follow us on social media: X (Twitter): NR4PTProjectBluesky: nr4ptproject.bsky.socialInstagram: nr4ptprojectFacebook: The Not Ready for Prime Time ProjectContact Us: Website: https://www.nr4project.comEmail: nr4ptproject@gmail.com

Bob Kurland's Slide LinksIn all protein functions, parts of the proteins bind loosely to other parts of the protein and thus form appropriate structures that are essential to their function. This is shown very nicely in this TED YouTube video, by Professor Ken Dill https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zm-3kovWpNQ Here is another nice YouTube video showing protein flexibility https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yZ2aY5lxEGE Webinar TitleThe Anthropic Principle: “Are We Special?”--Did God make our “Goldilocks Universe” for man?Abstract The universe in which we live and came to be is not ordinary, but unusual. As the Church Lady in Saturday Night Live of old would say, “Now, isn't that special!” Or is it? Some scientists would agree with Roger Penrose – that if it weren't special, we wouldn't be here to remark on it. Many other scientists and philosophers would agree with Thomas Nagel that an explanation giving only the result is not an explanation. (And, of course, if it is special, then there is the implicit conclusion that this is so because of a Creating Intelligence, which we Catholics recognize as the Trinitarian God.) In my presentation I will discuss some of the so-called “anthropic coincidences” necessary for carbon-based life. Although some examples from cosmology and particle physics will be included, I'm going to focus on the wonderful parts of chemistry and molecular biology, processes that point to the hand of a Creating Intelligence. And of course the prophets of the Old Testament and saints of the early Church knew this all along, without the benefit of science. Dr. Robert Kurland, a convert to Catholicism in 1995, is a retired physicist who has applied magnetic resonance to problems of biological interest in his research (web search: “Kurland-McGarvey Equation”). Dr. Kurland is a graduate of Caltech (BS, 1951, “with honor”) and Harvard (PhD, 1956). His scientific career at Carnegie-Mellon, SUNY/AB, Cleveland Clinic, Geisinger Medical Center, has focused on biological applications of magnetic resonance, including MRI. Since his conversion to Catholicism, he has tried to spread the message that there's no war between Catholic teaching and science.Respondent: William M. Briggs, PhD Against the Anthropic Principle Dr. William M. Briggs, the Statistician to the Stars, has a background in statistics, philosophy, meteorology, and cryptography. Born in Detroit, he left the city when it was at its peak, which some might jokingly suggest led to its decline. Briggs holds a PhD in Mathematical Sciences and an MS in Atmospheric Physics, and has served in various roles including professor, consultant, and statistician. He is known for his work in probability and statistics, as well as his cultural commentary on various social and scientific issues.
Most of the news on this week's show centers on Trump's nominations, many of whom are blatant Christian nationalists. FFRF Staff Attorney Sammi Lawrence describes our newest lawsuit, just filed this week, challenging unconstitutional tax exemption for religiously owned commercial rental properties in Madison, Wis. Then we talk with a former "church lady," Carolyn Shadle, who was the Director of Religious Education at a Presbyterian church before she abandoned her faith. Her new book is called From Religion to Reason: My Journey.
Rosie Shuster and Marilyn Suzanne Miller join me to talk about MSM's love of the musical Peter Pan; Rosie loving her dad's joke books, West Side Story, and being in the audience of the Ed Sullivan Show; Rosie meets Lorne Michaels and Howard Shore; MSM goes to work for James L. Brooks & Garry Marshall; Rosie writes for Canadian children and crime game shows; sends a monologue for Laugh In that Lorne submits and gets on; Lorne uses Rosie's fathers (Frank Shuster of Wayne & Shuster) CBC specials as a blueprint for SNL; MSM turns down SNL, changes mind; work together on a Lily Tomlin special; cast goes on Tom Snyder; Rosie writes New Dad and creates the Bees; Rosie writes first Emily Litella Update piece; MSM writes Slumber Party for Madeline Kahn; Hard Hars w/ Lily Tomlin and Mommy Beer; Laraine (as Shirley Temple) sings and dances with Garrett and Elliot Gould; The Nerds; The Festrunk Brothers; Uncle Roy; Let's Kill Gary Gilmore for Christmas; Fred Garvin, Male Prostitute; how SNL wanted to make itself laughs and everyone in the production was on top of their game; Lunch Counter Reunion; Lorne encourage differet comic sensibilities; Child Psychologist; coming back in 1981; Eddie Murphy; Adam Sandler; Rosie helping to craft the Church Lady sketches with Dana Carvey; The Taboosters; writing sketches more graphic to bargain for what you really want; MSM goes to the Tracey Ullman Show; Sarah Silverman; MSM on lack of artistry on television; Rosie works on Larry Sanders; MSM writes for Carol Burnett; Rosie is a fan of Arte Madrid; watching SNL today; ageism in Hollywood; Paul Shaffer's genius; being "middle-aged"
In this episode, Dr. Mistry and Donna Lee share some jokes with you that you'll (maybe not) enjoy. They will also answer some listener questions about saw palmetto and whether stimulants affect sex drive or not. Do you know what supplement saw palmetto helps? Well, here's a teaser from the Google...It's ripe fruit is used to make medicine. Saw palmetto seems to lower the amount of pressure on the tubes that carry urine in males. Saw palmetto also might prevent testosterone from being converted to a more potent form called dihydrotestosterone (DHT). Reduced levels of DHT might help prevent some types of hair loss. As the Church Lady on SNL might say "Well...isn't that interesting?!?" So interesting! Also, tune in to Dr. Mistry explanation about stimulants and how to address sexual concerns if you or your partner are on certain medications that may affect your sex life. Dr. Mistry and Donna Lee will always discuss natural and holistic options on the Armor Men's Health Show so be sure to tune in and share these episode with your friends. Saturday Night live in the 1980s and 1990s are considered the golden era of the show. During these two decades, the show spawned many legendary performers that would go on to become comedy and movie stars influencing pop culture even to this day. For this week's episode, Rob and Dave take a look, and rank their favorite SNL performers from this golden era of the 80s and 90s to reveal who are their favorites, and who they think were the funniest and most influential, not quite ready for prime time players. SNL created so many classic characters and recurring sketches such as Wayne's World, The Church Lady, Hans and Franz and Canteen Boy. They were also always on the cutting edge of political satire, with their dead-on impersonations of the most powerful world figures of the time. Finally, the show became a must-see for the most popular musical acts of the time which kept the show constantly culturally relevant and appealed to the younger hip audience. So let's go back to lunch lady land, dance with Swayze for Chippendales and please, lay off us, we're starving as we head to 30 Rock this week to revisit Saturday Night Live. YOU - The Master Entrepreneur - A Guide to True Greatness with Stan Hustad
No that is not a trick question. It really happened and she really did. And of course there's a story. Quite a fascinating and moving story. But it came out of a sales and marketing strategy that I developed for men and women who were in the financial services business helping people with the financial planning insurance and investment, and perhaps planning for their estate and everyone's eventual passing. It was a story question and it was... What in your treasure chest that you will be passing on to those you love and care for after you are gone?... And one of the ultimate questions, how do you want to be remembered. And as one of my heroes who recently passed said, if you don't know the answer to that question you really don't know what to do when you get up in the morning. But that's another story and I think you'll enjoy this one, Stan

This week after we started out meandering around the topic of how to manipulate the masses with numbers and the irresponsible use of statistics (one of MY favorite topics). Then, eventually, Antowan and I finally got around to talking about clothing, which is the topic of this podcast. Clothing choices we make can say a LOT about who we are and what we want our appearance to others to convey . What we wear says as much about us as it does about the people around us. Whether it's a certain type of hat, worn in a certain way, or a worn out flannel shirt that feels like an old friend, clothes say a lot about us. They help protect us from the elements and help us belong to the worlds around us. So we wanted to talk about it a bit, and I really wanted to get the scoop on Church Lady hats.Hope you enjoy our light hearted and informative discussion about threads, styles, and how to be a fantastic fashionista like Antowan and I. And if you believe that, I have some swamp land in Missouri that I'd like to sell you. :)Thanks for listening. Please check out our website at www.forsauk.com to hear great conversations on topics that need to be talked about. In these times of intense polarization we all need to find time to expand our Frame of Reference.

Church Lady and the gospel reading this weekend both want us to look into our own hearts before we judge others. A tough thing to do.
Church experience can have a lot of negatives, still, in this podcast we talk about how one life can make a difference in the lives of other people in this environment we call the church. Meet Mary, who when her church closed said to herself, “I decided to pick up my faith one more time and find a new church.” Find out why and how she made church life better for many. We could get so hung up on the details of the structure or doctrine of the church, that those can be spot on to what we believe is right, and the church can be unhealthy in relationships because people are not being open and honest and not connecting with each other. Scriptures include Acts 11:19-26.Support the show

Rev. Larry Beane, pastor of Salem Lutheran Church in Gretna, LA and Chaplain in the U.S. Air Force Auxiliary (CAP) joins the Rev. Dr. Phil Booe to study 1 Corinthians 11:1-16. Why is it improper for men to wear hats in church but not women? Where does this custom come from? In part, from this part of St. Paul's letter to the Corinthians. In the first century it was about more than manners, it was about authority and headship. A woman's veil represented her unique vocation as a godly woman. Learn what St. Paul means when he writes, “For as woman came from man, so also man is born of woman. But everything comes from God.” (v. 12). In this episode, Pastors Booe and Beane look at this godly tradition and ask, how is it practiced today?
What is the common thing that helps cure cancer with only 4 months left to live, Irritable Bowl Syndrome (IBS), weight loss, depression, pain, anxiety, fear of dogs, and many other ailments? And what if it works in as little as 1-3 sessions? Would you like to know what it is? Then listen to this #jammingwithjason #podcast episode with William "Bill" Klaproth to learn more. Bill suffered a work accident that landed him in the hospital, and after several surgeries and more than two years of rehab, he was eventually told he couldn't continue the telecommunications work that he had been enjoying for years. "You should find yourself another career." What to do with the rest of his life? When he saw the results his brother Dave got from hypnotherapy after a 4 month's to live cancer diagnosis (who BTW is still going strong 5 years later) he had to give it a try, even though he was told with his religious upbringing that hypnosis was of the devil (yes, cue Church Lady voice). What he found was a way to help people heal and help himself at the same time. The fact that you are reading this means you need to hear his amazing story. Hypnotherapy has worked for me, Bill, Dave and countless others... so it might be exactly what you need to hear today.
