It's just an honor to do this deep dive with you into ‘Loving Your Enemy, the True Path of Healing and Mastery'. We often think about this demand or command from the Bible, ‘love your enemy', having to do with other people. It doesn't really have anything to do with people. But principally speaking, it refers to all that you judge bad or negative, in your body and your world. For instance, it refers to a quality or characteristic about a person that pushes your button: they're needy, they're greedy, they're selfish, they're a thief, etc. Ultimately, all of those qualities are in you. They're not out there. If they push your button in any way, shape, or form, they're all in you. They make you sad, mad, scared, angry, fearful, resentful, and defensive. It's all in you. You're not in the world; the world is in you. You're not in relationships; relationships are all in you. You're a field of consciousness that includes all of it. Your unique experience of it all is showing where you need to grow, showing you fragmented parts of your own psyche to embrace and integrate and fall in love with. The enemy is actually showing you where the evolution is trying to happen, where the next stage of possibility is trying to happen. To love your enemy means you get to be in love with all of you and everyone, regardless of the appearance or the condition. You get to be a transparency for reality and an instrument of greater destiny, of greater potential. This is the power of loving your enemy. At the end of the day, you'll begin to realize we're not really here to save the world. We're not here to save or improve a condition. We're here to serve the emerging possibility, the emerging vision. You don't merely want to get rid of the enemy, you want to discover what's trying to emerge, what's the treasure, what's the new possibility! Listen in now for the full explanation and support your personal development and spiritual growth and start participating in your future NOW. Finding Faith in the Depths of Hell. The host for this show is Dan 'Fig' Leaf. The guest is Guy Gruters. Guy Gruters had already completed over 400 combat missions in the O-1 Birddog, only to be shot down as a Misty Fast Forward Air Controller during the war in Viet Nam. After recovering from significant injuries from that combat ejection, he chose to return to the dangerous Misty mission - only to be shot down again. Badly injured and captured by the enemy, Guy was beaten, tortured, and watched an Air Force Academy classmate die from injuries inflicted by their captors. He descended into a hellish swirl of hatred for his enemies, and had an overwhelming desire to kill himself and deny the North Vietnamese the opportunity to use him as a pawn in the war. Guy shares the powerful story of finding real faith after months of prayer, and his resulting transition from hate to love - even for his enemies. Likewise, to do anything less is to withhold, judge, limit, and harm yourself. Come join us in learning how God directs us to love our enemies. Sarah & Debbie
This week, Faith Matters is bringing you a story that defies expectations so completely that you really have to hear it straight from the source. Our guest was Daryl Davis, who's easily one of the most fascinating and inspiring people we've ever met.Daryl has spent his career as a professional musician, including decades playing alongside rock and roll legends Chuck Berry and Jerry Lee Lewis. He's a master of multiple instruments, but specializes on the piano, where he blends unbelievable talent, skill, and passion to create truly incredible music. Make no mistake however, there's much more to Daryl than just music.Daryl first experienced anti-Black racism from strangers as a young boy, and it inspired a lifelong question: “how can you hate me when you don't even know me?” Over many years, that question eventually led him to not just meet, but befriend members and leaders of Ku Klux Klan: as those friendships have blossomed, love and respect have grown in the place of hate. Daryl now estimates that he's been instrumental in persuading over 200 white supremacists to leave their hate groups. Along with his story, Daryl shares a provocative message: that we should continuously allow people with incorrect or even abhorrent viewpoints to air their opinions. In Daryl's view, ignorance is the root of fear, hate, and destruction. And only by remaining together in the same cultural spaces, and even actively seeking out and conversing with those we disagree with, can we counter the root cause — ignorance — with education and exposure to better views. That's how Daryl says we can then eliminate the symptoms of fear, hate, and destruction.Daryl has told his story on platforms like The Joe Rogan Experience and TedX, where he's garnered tens of millions of views and downloads. We want to thank the Foundation Against Intolerance and Racism, known by their acronym “FAIR,” who introduced us to Daryl and made this interview happen. FAIR is nonpartisan organization dedicated to advancing civil rights and liberties for all Americans, and promoting a common culture based on fairness, understanding, and humanity. Daryl is a Senior Fellow and Advisory Board Member at FAIR, and you can find out more about their foundation at fairforall.org.
Perfect Prayer PlanI have attached a file so that you can print out the perfect prayer plan. This has been a fruitful staple in my life for a decade now. I commend it to you. All of it comes straight from the life of Jesus. Remember, #5,#6 and #7 are crucial for your own life - but also the exact things you should be praying into the lives of your enemies. The topic of today's podcast relates to how you deal with your enemies. But I have lots of questions. What in the world is an enemy in our time? Can I identify an enemy, or a list of enemies, in my life? And once I figure out who it is, compared to simply someone who doesn't like me very much, what am I supposed to do about that?We are a blessed people in our time. Most of us are protected from people who would truly do us harm. However, sometimes the people closest to us become our enemies. They oppose us, take our words in the worst light, and refuse to rebuild a friendship. What would God have us do about that? Let's explore some ideas that can help.- What is an enemy and how how do I determine if someone is an enemy?- What would Christ have me do with my enemy?- How important is self-evaluation when dealing with an enemy?- How important is compassion for an enemy in dealing with them?- What role does prayer play when the relationship seems irreparably broken?
Loving Your Enemy: Interacting with people is hard, even with those you are closest to. Nearly everyone would agree that you should be loving and kind towards others, but this is often applied only to those who are like us or fall within our group. But what about those who are different than us, those with a different nationality, belief system, or political dogma? Jesus teaches that we should love not only those who are annoying, inconvenient, or who hurt our pride but those who are actively opposed to us as well... those we classify as our enemies. Recorded on August 14, 2022, on Matthew 5:38-48, by Pastor David Parks. This message is part of our sermon series "The Unexpected Way," from the Sermon on the Mount from Matthew 5-7 in the Bible. The way of Jesus is totally unique; it's different from every other way of life, philosophy, or religion. Why? Because the teaching of Jesus — emphasizing holiness, humility, justice, faith, and sacrificial love — leads to a whole new gospel-centered ethic. This ancient ethic, if actually practiced, has the power to bring abundant love and joy and peace to anyone, anywhere today. This is the way. Sermon Transcript All year, we're focusing on Learning the way of Jesus, which means that all year, we'll basically be answering the question, “If the gospel is true, how then should we live?” To start, we've been working through a very famous teaching of Jesus known as the Sermon on the Mount in a sermon series called, The Unexpected Way. And we've said that the teaching of Jesus leads to a whole new gospel-centered ethic which is not at all what we'd expect. The way of Jesus is a different way from the other philosophies or religions of the world. But, if it's actually put into practice, the way of Jesus leads to a life of love/joy/peace. For the past few weeks, Jesus has been teaching us what it really means to be a good person, for us to really live the life that God intended for human beings to live. And let me just take a quick survey today, do we think this has been easy teaching or hard teaching? Very hard teaching. Today, we have one more example from Jesus of the type of righteousness that he requires of his disciples, and it's maybe the hardest one yet. Are you ready for this? Are you sure? If you have a Bible/app, please open it to Matthew 5:38. We'll read through this and unpack it together. Matthew 5:38-48 (NIV), “38 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.' 39 But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also. 40 And if anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, hand over your coat as well. 41 If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with them two miles. 42 Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you. 43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' 44 But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46 If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? 47 And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? 48 Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.” Again, just like the last three weeks, Jesus shows us that the OT Law has underlying principles that go way beyond what the Law allows or prohibits. But these underlying principles, rooted in God's character, are how God intends for human beings to actually live. In this case, how we are to respond, not just to people who like us or are like us, but to the most difficult/frustrating people in life, even to our enemies. Let's start again with v.38. Matthew 5:38-39a (NIV), “You have heard that it was said, ‘Eye for eye,

Welcome to 5 mins with coach Myrna. Today I want to teach on the topic “Loving Your Enemy”.In the King James Version of the Bible: Jesus Christ, says “But I say unto you, love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you.”He goes further to say “do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also. ”In this episode I teach why you should love your enemy.

In week two of our At The Movies series, Pastor Jaron shows a timely movie based on the unlikely relationship between a civil rights activist and a local Ku Klux Klan leader during the summer of 1971, opposing the desegregation of schools in Durham, N.C. As enemies who oppose every aspect of the other, both characters are forced to look past their difference and face the reality that there are commonalities between them and as professing Christians, both have to face the reality that you can't hate someone and love Jesus.

Matthew 5:44 tells us that we ought to love our enemy, and that is easier said than done. In a world that seems more and more divided each day, in a world where there is always an opinion and a side to take, it's very easy to look at someone as your enemy simply because you don't agree with their ideas or way of life. It's easy to look at someone who has hurt you and love them. God calls us not to only love our neighbor but our enemy as well. I wanted to see how are we doing at loving our enemies in todays episode, and my good friends Nick and Kyla Martin are here with me to discuss where our heart is and how can we improve on loving our enemies.

Have you ever considered that loving your enemy might be more beneficial to you than inserting distance between the two you? When someone causes you pain, suffering, or prevents you from reaching an objective, in today's episode, I propose that they are actually offering you an opportunity to become a stronger person. When our enemies get in the way of our objectives, our pursuit of happiness, we have a choice to make: do we give in to the hate and quit or do we take their hate and use it to fuel our desire for greatness? Tune in today to hear more!
