Interview with Dave Lewis Organizations believe they have a firm grip on security with SSO and corporate IT policies, but in reality, shadow IT lurks in the background—expanding attack surfaces and exposing sensitive data. I got frustrated though, because I feel like some foundational assumptions were ignored, and not enough examples were shared or prepared. Assumption #1: Jobs exist because work needs to be done. This is a false assumption. Check out a book called "Bullshit Jobs" to go down this particular rabbit hole. Assumption #2: The primary task of a job is the job. This is rarely the case, unless you work in the service industry. How much of a developer's job is writing code? A lot less than you think. Employees spend a massive amount of time communicating with other employees, via meetings, emails, Slack chats - can AI replace this? Maybe all that communication is wasteful and inefficient? Could be, but for every job AI supposedly replaces, it becomes someone else's job to manage that AI agent. Does all of middle management become expert prompt engineers, or do they also disappear with no employees to manage? Assumption #3: Jobs aren't already being replaced. They are, they're just not terribly visible jobs. That contractor your marketing team was using to build blog/SEO content? He's probably gone. The in-house or contract graphic designer? Probably gone. There's a whole swath of jobs out there, where quality isn't very important, but work needs to be produced, and those jobs are being actively replaced with generative AI. With that said, I don't see any full time jobs that require quality work and a lot of communication with other employees getting replaced. Yet? Ever? That's the question. Cattle producers often turn to average daily gain, feed conversion or reproduction when targeting improved efficiency but while they all have a place, a focus on feed efficiency traits is critical as it zeroes in on both the cost of feed and the value of gain.Jason Osterstock, Chief Science Officer at Vytelle, joins Sarah Muirhead to explore how data-driven approaches are transforming herd management decisions. Rather than relying solely on conventional measures like average daily gain or feed conversion, forward-thinking producers are harnessing sophisticated analytics to identify animals with superior efficiency traits. These insights enable more strategic breeding decisions that compound benefits across generations. What makes this evolution particularly exciting is its accessibility. Technologies that were once reserved for only the largest operations are now available to producers of all sizes through user-friendly platforms and mobile devices. This democratization of data science allows the entire industry to advance toward more sustainable production methods. Vytelle exemplifies this approach with its integrated technology platform designed to help cattle producers deliver more protein with fewer inputs, ensuring that meat and milk remain competitive food choices for future generations amid growing sustainability concerns.Want to learn more about optimizing your herd's efficiency? Send us a textFeeling lost in today's chaotic world? You're not alone. Dr. Douglas James Cottrell tackles the universal struggle of finding one's path in life—a challenge that's particularly intense for young people navigating our digital age.Drawing from decades of wisdom, Dr. Cottrell reveals why most of us only truly "figure life out" around age 28, and how our thinking typically lags behind our actual age by about seven years. This developmental lag explains much of the confusion and identity crisis many experience in their formative years. The episode's most powerful revelation? Keep your dreams, ambitions, and plans completely private. "Don't tell people your prayers, your plans, or your ambitions," Dr. Cottrell advises, explaining how well-meaning friends and family often unintentionally sabotage our dreams with doubt and misguided advice. Instead, he recommends speaking only to those who have already achieved what you're aiming for.Dr. Cottrell shares the concept of "order of events"—the universal law that success requires completing steps in proper sequence without skipping ahead. Combined with laser focus (concentrating on just one direction rather than many), planning backward from your ultimate goals, and developing unstoppable willpower, this approach creates a formula for finding your true path.Whether you're confused about career choices, struggling with identity, or simply trying to navigate life's complex journey, this episode offers practical wisdom that cuts through the noise. Listen now and discover how to trust yourself, focus your efforts, and build the willpower that Dr. Cottrell describes as "more powerful than all the bombs man could make."Support the show

TRAPPED IN THE THREE-RING CIRCUS OF YOUR MINDYour consciousness is being hijacked right now—and you don't even realize it.While you're reading these words, an invisible tug-of-war is happening inside you. The outside world demands attention. Your thoughts race alongside. Emotions surge from nowhere. This constant pull in three directions isn't chaos—it's your default state.Michael Singer calls it the "three-ring circus," and it's the greatest magic trick ever performed: making you believe that these distractions ARE you, when in reality, they're just the show you're watching. What if everything keeping you from peace isn't something you need to fix, but something you need to stop entertaining? The truth is both simpler and more radical than most spiritual teachings dare admit: your consciousness—your true essence—is being dragged around like a dog on three leashes, and freedom isn't about gaining something new, but letting go of what never belonged to you in the first place.Ready to step outside the circus tent? Let's pull back the curtain on what's really happening in the arena of your awareness...First ring: the outside world.Everything you see, hear, feel.Open your eyes—it's there.Close them—it's gone.Your senses grab light, sound, whatever, and your mind builds the picture inside, not out there like you think.Second ring: thoughts. They're running through your head, and you're aware of them.Same consciousness that's taking in the world view - it is tracking these too.No split. You can look at something and think about it—same awareness, doing both.Third ring: emotions. Now, these aren't thoughts or thought forms. You can picture a boat in your mind, see words, hear that voice inside your head talking to you—that's thoughts.Emotions? They're different. They're vibrations, feelings, shifts in energy patterns you pick up.Not words, just raw force. But they're strong, and they latch onto your consciousness, pull it right in.So, that's the circus: the outside world you're aware of, the thoughts in your head—your mind—and the emotions coming up from your heart.Three rings, and your consciousness is stuck dealing with all of them. Here's the thing—it gets distracted by every single one.Funny how 'distraction' turns into a spiritual word, right?Deep spirituality? It's all about handling distractions. If you weren't distracted by emotions, or thoughts, or the outside world—if you could just sit still—your consciousness could drop back to its source.THE CALM LAKE REFLECTING BACK PEACE. WHEN STIRRED UP? YOU CANNOT SEE CLEARLY.The source isn't human or a “male God” manipulating the world. It's bigger, divine, universal, and always “as is” with no empotion or preference. We could dig into that later. But here's the problem: we cannot stay there. An emotion hits—boom, consciousness gets yanked to it.Thoughts kick in—'What am I supposed to do? Do I have time for this? Why'd she say that?'—and you're distracted again.Totally pulled by thoughts, emotions, objects out there shifting and moving.Your consciousness gets drawn out, away from its center, onto distracting it.Something happens outside—it sparks a thought inside, stirs up emotions. They all line up, and next thing you know, your consciousness isn't centered anymore. It's projected out onto these objects of consciousness. So this is what the three-ring circus means. In reading Living Untethered, it then balances —the witness, the three rings: senses, thoughts, emotions. The Futility of Mental Effort* The mind cannot escape itself through its own mechanisms—it's a "built-in feature." * True freedom comes from losing interest in the mind's games, not from mastering them, akin to leaving a heavy bag at the airport rather than struggling to carry it.* The body and the self are viewed as illusory, akin to a flute that doesn't play notes but allows them to pass through. * Consciousness is the underlying reality, and the self is a mental narrative claiming ownership of experiences.* This recognition negates the idea of a separate "doer" or "seer," leading to liberation from the need to seek liberation.Your absolute absence is your absolute presence... Once you start seeing this absence, it just becomes more and more obvious when you are distracted, triggered and allowing the three-ring circus. Shatter the Illusion: Question the Norms, Trust Your Inner Wisdom, and Forge Your Soul's True Path.So freeing, right? So much love to you my friend. Dieting and emotional eating often go hand in hand. Emotional eating is often a response to deep-rooted emotions such as trauma, stress, anxiety, or depression, while dieting is the most common approach used to combat emotional eating. When dealing with uncomfortable feelings, it can be difficult to sit with them. We often try to escape from them by self-medicating with food, exercise, shopping, or anything that gives us instant pleasure, which drifts us away from our fitness goals. Fitness and health are not a simple equation of dieting, exercise, and food as we perceive. The true solution to achieving long-term health and wellness lies from within. Understanding your emotional triggers, how they shape your behavior, and working on your transformation is key to making lasting positive results. It is only when we take an honest look at ourselves and connect with our inner selves that we can truly make progress in achieving our goals. In this episode of Fall in Love with Fitness, Errin Smith shares with me her journey, how her emotional eating and dieting created havoc in her body, and how she transformed her life. Learning how to work on our emotional triggers and build a healthy relationship with food without dieting and demonizing some food groups. Topics Covered: 0:02 Breaking Free From Diet Mindset and Self-Image Constraints 1:45 Emotional Eating and Suppressed Emotions from Childhood 3:52 The Emotional and Physical Struggles of a Fitness Influencer 13:15 Erin's Journey Through Extreme Diets and Food Relationships 21:31 The Pressure of Perfection and Worthiness in California 22:40 The Impact of Diet Choices on Gut Health and Wellbeing 31:40 Finding Inner Peace and Leaving a Toxic Environment 35:07 Transforming Health Through Real Food and Mindful Living Key Takeaways: Emotional eating is not about food: Errin emphasizes that the root of emotional eating lies in unmet emotional needs rather than dietary choices. Impact of diet culture: The conversation sheds light on how societal standards and diet trends contribute to disordered eating patterns and self-worth issues. Significance of self-acceptance: Finding peace with oneself is crucial, as Errin notes the transformation that occurs when you start "craving yourself."
