It’s time to take a drive to Cars Land at Disney California Adventure and ride Disneyland Resort's first trackless attraction, Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters. The guide map describes this attraction in the following manner, “Luigi’s Cousins from Italy are in town to perform their favorite dances and you get to go along for the ride.” There are no height requirements for this attraction and the Thrill Level describes as Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters as being a Thrill Ride with spinning and also cautions it as being loud. Before we take a spin for ourselves, here are five fast facts about Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters. 1. Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters opened in Disney California Adventure on March 7, 2016. The attraction was a replacement for the Cars Land original attraction Luigi’s Flying Tires. 2. As mentioned at the top of the show, this is the first attraction at Disneyland Resort to utilize a trackless vehicle system, meaning that as the cars move and spin around the quote/unquote dance floor they do so without the aid of any sort of track system. There are 18 different paths that each car can take at any time making each ride on this attraction truly different. 3. The attraction features Luigi and his cousins singing several car themed takes on classic Italian songs. The songs play randomly lending even more to that ‘every ride is different’ feel of the attraction. 4. Half of Luigi’s cousins, the ride vehicles’ are male and the other half are female. Grill mustaches on the male cars make it easy to tell the difference. Each of the ride vehicles also has its own name and each of the cars is unique except for two ‘twin sister’ cars, Rosa and Gina, but even they are different as they have different color eyes. 5. In September of 2017, it was announced that Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters would receive a Halloween Themed Makeover called Luigi’s Honkin’ Haul-o-ween complete with brand new spooky songs and halloween decorations. Now it’s time to join Luigi for his race day celebration and ride Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters. John B. deHaas is along for the ride today and it’s his first time on this attraction. Stay tuned after the ride audio to hear our thoughts on this attraction and this is a binaural recording, so put your headphones on now. Inside The Mouse Castle: Disney News, Information and Commentary
There's nothing like a ticket price increase to get the Disney fan base stirred up. Make it "seasonal pricing" (or "tiered pricing" or "surge pricing"), however, and you'd better getting ready for major outrage. The price of single-day and multi-day tickets went up (for the most part) at all the Disney parks over the weekend, with single-day tickets now priced based on expected attendance. In a nutshell, you'll pay more to visit your favorite park on a busy day (say, summer or Christmastime) than you will during a quieter day (like an October weekday). What does it all mean and should you really be upset about it? Tim and Anthony sort it all out for you in this week's Inside The Mouse Castle. Here's what else we've got going on: At the Academy Awards Sunday, Pixar's Inside Out was the unsurprising, but highly deserving winner of the Best Animated Feature Oscar. In their acceptance speech, director Pete Docter and producer Jonas Rivera had inspiring words about the importance of "making stuff" in the face of adversity. Rest in peace, Jack Lindquist, who passed away Sunday at the age of 88. Jack was a marketing genius who became Disneyland's first president and, later, a Disney Legend. His memoir, In Service to the Mouse, should be required reading for every Disney fan. Our condolences to Jack's friends and family. He will be greatly missed. Luigi's Rollickin' Roadsters will officially open at Disney California Adventure on March 7. Annual Passholders can get an exclusive preview of the ride on March 4. This looks like a very fun ride--and hopefully a more reliable replacement for Luigi's Flying Tires. Guests attending the Food & Wine Festival at Disney California Adventure in April can take part in special Beverage Seminars at Sonoma Terrace. Fifteen dollars will get you admission and three samples of select beers, wine or spirits. To purchase tickets, visit https://disneyland.disney.go.com/dining/disney-california-adventure/food-and-wine-festival-beverage-seminars. Marvel superheroes and villains will take each other on in Marvel Battlegrounds, the new four-player play set for Disney Infinity 3.0. A modern-look Captain America comes with the set and new character figures Ant-Man, Vision and Black Panther will also be available. Purchase the set online or in stores on March 15. Today's parting question: Does the thought of an It's a Small World movie make you cringe as much as us? Thought so. Enjoy! www.TheMouseCastle.comRSS Feed: http://insidethemousecastle.libsyn.com/rss
Inside The Mouse Castle: Disney News, Information and Commentary
Disney's Descendants was a huge hit on the Disney Channel last Friday, attracting over six million viewers. But, was it any good? Tim voted no, but then he's not in the movie's age 9-14 demographic. Still, it's hard to like a film with a dumbed-down story that turns the most evil of Disney's animated villains into buffoons and then adds a rap sequence to "Be Our Guest." No. Just, no. Unlike Descendants, very little is painful about this week's episode of Inside The Mouse Castle. There are even a few things Tim and Anthony like: Is Star Wars coming to Netflix? All the signs point to yes. We're hearing as many as three new series from Lucasfilm could be in development for the online entertainment service. Rumors abound about who will make up the supporting cast of Marvel's Spider-Man movie in 2017. It could just be wishful thinking, but we'll play along for now. Robert Downey, Jr. returning as Tony Stark, Hugh Laurie as J. Jonah Jameson, Forest Whitaker as Robbie Robertson, Billy Zane as the Vulture, Jason Biggs as Scorpion, Miranda Cosgrove as Betty Brant. We're on board for all of them if the rumors are true. Josh Gad has wrapped up shooting on Disney's live-action version of Beauty and the Beast. He's playing LeFou, sidekick to Luke Evans' Gaston. We're going to miss Gad's social media dispatches from the set. What's the deal with Bob the Musical and why are so many big names attached to the project? The Hollywood Reporter says Pulitzer Prize-winning author Michael Chabon (The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay) is working on the script for Oscar-winning director Michel Hazanavicius (The Artist). Meanwhile, Oscar-winning songwriter Bret McKenzie ("Man or Muppet") will pen the songs for the film about a man who can hear the inner music in everyone's heart. Oh, and did we mention Tom Cruise might star in it too? Animation fans, especially fans of the great Hayao Miyazaki, are going to love the new Blu-ray box set from Disney and Studio Ghibli. The Collected Works of Hayao Miyazaki will include all 11 of the master's animated classics including Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle and The Wind Rises. It will be available only on Amazon.com and will be released on November 17th. In 1966, Walt Disney donated the Midget Autopia attraction at Disneyland to his boyhood home of Marceline, MO, the only time a Disney attraction was ever moved to a non-Disney location. The Midget Autopia stopped operating in the late 1970s, but now the Walt Disney Hometown Museum in Marceline has launched a Kickstarter campaign to fully restore the cars and track.
